ok but does hawkeye's horse have a name... and what do the other horses look like. this is very important. please and thank you i love the cowboy au
THANK U Im so glad to hear you like it ❤️ I haven’t drawn them all just yet but heres a little list of everyone who has horses and their names:
Hawkeye: an American Paint named Ginny (pronounced like the drink) she’s very sweet and lazy. Ginny is also very good with children as Trapper’s daughters love to ride her.
Trapper: an Appaloosa he calls Chief, the much more playfully spiteful horse out of the two. Hawk and Trap are the only ones who really know how to handle him.
Trapper and Hawkeye share horses occasionally though they have ownership of their respective ones, Ginny and Chief are both trained to pull a wagon they often use for moonshine sales. Chief is the larger and stronger of the two so Trapper normally takes him out for work.
Bj: an older Palomino Quarter Horse named Waggle, (my good buddy Pomegran.art picked that out because it’s the name of Bj’s dog in show ❤️) I like to think he named him that in this au because his ears “waggle” when he shakes his head. He’s a veteran at herding cattle on the Hunnicutt ranch.
Margaret: an Arabian named Major, super fast and elegant but she bites people she isn’t familiar with. She also doesn’t like Frank at ALL and he’s quite scared of her.
Frank: an American Saddlebred named General, he subtly embellishes his tack with patriotic colors in hopes that Potter won’t notice, since he likes his deputies to be uniform. General spooks easy and has run out from underneath Frank multiple times. It will happen again.
Potter: he just has Sophie! They never confirm her breed in the show since she’s played by multiple horses, but in this au she’s a Morgan, a popular horse breed used in the US calvary.

hey, I love your work! I'm curious about what software you use to animate?
Hi, thank you so much! I’m gonna be real my animation method is horrendous; I draw everything frame by frame in procreate and export them as gifs into a video editing software called cute cut pro, everything’s done on my ipad.
Kinda an odd question, but do you have any advice for drawing more cartoony/simple than realism? Ive been having trouble with it and really love your artwork
Yea man for sure, it's gonna be a little lengthy but hopefully it’ll give a little insight :~0
When I go to draw in a simpler style I prioritize basic shapes and speed, and I try to incorporate the likeness of the person or character I'm drawing with my own twist as well. I take a lot of inspiration from mid century cartoons, Hanna Barbera, and Dan DeCarlo, all of which have really helped me cultivate my style even when I'm not drawing something simpler. I made a few diagrams of how I draw Hawkeye and Trapper in what I'd call my "secondary style", since I mainly use it for quick doodles and sketches rather than works I consciously put more time and effort into.
It really is all about looking at references and developing what works for you via experimentation, but some things I like to keep in mind when drawing less realistically is pushing and exaggerating certain features of a character that really define them. I like to use Hanna Barbera's Laurel and Hardy cartoon as an easy example, because they have two men who visually contrast one another which make them perfect for exaggerating said shapes:
Have to say. I found you on Instagram recently, and just. Mash content nice. Thank you for the pieces of serotonin. You're cool. Have a nice day. How did you get me to like this silly little show even more. Amazing. How'd you do that though, seriously? Now Hawkeye and his funky little ways are gonna haunt my dreams again, I can tell.
And thank you for enjoying my work, I appreciate the support so much ❤️ all I can say is they’ve taken over my frontal lobe and now I can’t get rid of them and I see it’s spreading like a plague and I’m just letting it happen. I cannot stop this. Fall victim to the 4077th
Working on a little MASH cowboy au because I'm a bit of a nut for westerns, calling it 3:10 To Korea heheh
Heres some quick doodles of Hawkeye, Bj, and Winchester's designs, just wanted to get them down color wise.
Also the blurb I wrote over on my ig talking about roles and stuff:
Hawk runs a local pub and distillery and sells moonshine with Trapper, a fur trapper, who helps advertise their moonshine across the states while he's out hunting. It never does very well, but they're both still trying to get it to take off. Klinger works at the pub as a saloon girl for extra cash, but during the day he's a tailor. Dresses, suits, frocks, you name it he can fix it. Sometimes Mulcahy stops in too, though he's a humble preacher he's also well versed in piano and plays ragtime for the bar. Bj has a little farm with Peg and Erin where they grow fresh crops, and sell cows as well as their milk. Charles is a big time doctor in one of the cities who has a private practice with his family, but due to being the eldest he was given the responsibility of becoming a traveling physician to attract more clients, much to his dismay. After the town's previous doctor, Tuttle, dies, Charles is stationed over there. Sheriff Potter keeps a watchful eye over the town with his deputies Houlihan and Burns, who are always out pinning up new bounties. The two are determined to find out who's selling bootleg hooch, but can never really figure out who ;~] (it doesn't bother Potter, he knows where it's coming from and has actually bought some from Hawk and Trap, he just thinks it's funny when his deputies scramble over something so dumb) Radar is a paperboy, somehow always bringing in the news 3 days early, nobody knows how he does it, and Henry is a fisherman who comes into town to sell his catches. Radar has a lot of free time so he often goes with him to the creek or market when he isn't hanging out with Hawk, Trap, and Beej.
