I know I've said this before, but I'll say it again and again: if someone tells you to get rid of your medications/doctors for witchcraft/spirituality, get away from that person as quickly as possible and as far as possible!
Sigils were the first magic I ever learned. As an artist, symbolism and aesthetic are things that are incredibly important to me. I have used multiple ways of crafting sigils, but I have created my own personal way of creating sigils using a method writers have used in poetry- the stream of consciousness technique.
I put my pen to paper, call upon what I wish to make a sigil about, and let the pen create what I need.
These are the sigils that I use the most frequently (you may use them if you wish).
You may notice that my sigils in the form of arrows. Arrows are a symbolic representation of aiming and shooting for something, and I love the vertically long look because I like to draw these sigils on my forearms.
I created all of these with stream of consciousness drawing.
It is almost like a form of meditation for me. Allowing myself to simply create what I think “focus” or “protection” looks like visually makes the end results beautiful and meaningful for me.
I do have a few running themes. Here are a few symbols I love to throw in.
These are used a ton in my art.
So here is a step by step of what to do-
1. Clear your mind for meditation. (Tip- if you have crystals that symbolize your intent, surround yourself with them. And example would be having a rose quartz for love on you or near you.)
2. Put your writing utensil to your paper. (I recommend using paper before digital.) Have your energy flow from your body to the focus of the tip of the pen/pencil, repeating the intent you wish the sigil to have.
3. Make a first draft of your sigil by allowing your hand to simply move as you think of your intent.
4. Make as many reiterations you wish until you have something you feel satisfied with. (Editing is a big part of writing as well.)
5. After a few tries making different sigils, make a list of your own common symbols you see popping up in your sigils.
And there you have it. If you are not comfortable, try mixing this technique with others to find what works best for you, or simply only use other techniques and make sigil arrows. I think using the look of an abstract arrow helps with directing intentions.
You can also request a sigil from me if you so choose in my inbox, for I shall be making them for anyone who asks for free.
I hope you find yourself using this technique of stream of consciousness to create wonderful sigils.
huh I guess it’s almost time for Witchy Wishlists ain’t it??
Something to look forward to, I hope!!
But I get worried every year when I make that post on December 1st. The entire point of Witchy Wishlists is that it’s supposed to be easy to participate, and that it’s not based on giving to who you’re already friends with or who you already know.
Everything about WW was designed to make it open to everyone and to be inviting, as opposed to the usual mess that happens when witches try to run things.
Still, that one element is what I want to control It’s what I obsess over every year. My friends have seen me complaining about it more and more as time goes by, me lamenting that the soul of WW is being threatened by people who don’t understand what it’s actually for and are turning it into the same cliquey exchange that inspired me to start Witchy Wishlists to combat against in the first place.
You shouldn’t have to worry that you’re not going to get anything from Witchy Wishlists because you don’t have a lot of followers, or a lot of friends. The point of browsing the tag is to keep it open to everyone! When you see something you can give, you give it based on the ability, not based on your familiarity with the username.
You shouldn’t have to think about what you’ll give in exchange for people buying you things, or giving you things. The point of WW is to give for the joy of giving, and not because you’re getting something in return. The event is not an exchange. If that were the point, it would be better to assign exchange partners, like a secret santa.
I feel awful that every year there are people who think they can’t participate in Witchy Wishlists because they don’t have the money or content or spoons to give something back to every person who might get something for them. That’s not the way it’s supposed to work.
When the time comes, posts your wishlists, because without them, we don’t have the opportunity to give.
And look through the wishlists that get posted, because someone, somewhere, is asking for something that you can give, even if it’s just more followers, or book recs, spotify mixes, youtube playlists, favourite poems, or like….Listen. You won’t be able to give to everyone, but everyone can give to someone.
idk I just never know how to capture what I see as the heart and soul and purpose of this whole thing in the rules post without the rules post itself seeming overwhelming and unapproachable, which uhhh goes against the whole vibe I’m trying for here.

staff You are recommending that I follow a nazi blog I blocked last night. Your site promotes anti-semitism to Jews. Your site shoves Nazi Swastikas in the faces of Jews. It’s bad enough that the Nazi blogs seem to be sprouting up like weeds on a site that claims to have an anti-hate policy, but to actively promote them to people who have taken the steps of blocking these blogs is beyond the pale. Clean this place up. It’s turning into Stormfront.
I encourage everyone who sees this post, Jewish or otherwise, to reblog it. Tumblr has been ignoring the growth of Nazism on this site for too long. It needs to end.
