I don’t intend to be rude with my reply. However I am going to be very blunt because I feel like this is important.

Nothing in the modern world exists outside of the influence of racism. I do mean quite literally nothing. And racism is still racism even if it’s not intended.

Also, I can’t speak for anyone else, obviously, but I personally would rather see less fanart that’s not racist than more fanart that is racist. It’s just a fact that if we want to purport to making fandom spaces more welcoming to all fans of color, we’re going to have to educate ourselves on what it means to depict certain characters of color in certain ways and listening to what they’ve been saying in fandom spaces for years. And we’re going to have to accept that, just like me and everyone else, we’re going to fuck it up sometimes and it’s our own responsibility to fix those mistakes, and do better next time.

I feel it will always be worth it to take time to research stereotypes, and harmful depictions of different types of people before you do anything, if it means less people of color will feel alienated from these spaces.

These next couple points are not geared towards you specifically but to anyone else who might be reading:

I haven’t seen discussion about this in the dungeon meshi fandom, but I have seen it in other fandoms where fans of color, and particularly Black fans become alienated from spaces because of the cannibalism thing specifically. I am not going to speak for any dungeon meshi fans of color/Black fans who may or may not have an issue with it. I thought it was just worth bringing up as something to keep in mind that has historical precedence.

I ship labru, but I think we’ve gotta be careful about the dynamic of like laios “eating” labru

I know there’s eroticism with the whole consuming someone thing but I uh I think we’re just gonna have to be be super super careful with that stuff because of the history of white people literally cannibalizing all sorts of people of color (and particularly Black people)

(As a quick aside I know Kabru is not necessarily intended to be coded Black but rather South Asian, but I think this point is still relevant)

UPDATE: More Vegetables!

Today, Hussam and his team in Rafah were busy sorting and packaging vegetables. They managed to put 200 packages, each with 10kilo of vegetables (potatoes, eggplants, lemon, jalapeños, tomatoes, and cucumber) and 3 packs of feta cheese for each family.

A few days ago, Hussam also bought diapers, soaps, and buckets to distribute to families with babies. All your donations go directly to Hussam. He still is able to withdraw cash from limited money sources but with high fees due to shortage of cash throughout Gaza. He now pays 15% in fees, which might increase in time. Please keep up the good work in spreading the word and donating.

Ah no what are ppl doing with f/ar/cil/e? Once more I sense a plume of smoke on the horizon

The vast majority of people who ship it are normal from what I’ve seen so I’m not worried about that. (And I don’t mean normal like “they make the most pure perfect content” but more like “I love this I love them I love looking at and making content of them! :)💖💖”)

The ones that are quickly making the ship unpalatable for me are the ones who are complains about like “the only reason ppl ship yaoi in DM is because they hate women and lesbians and want to ignore the canon f/f relationship!” And acting like shipping two thin feminine white women is somehow praxis it’s weird and annoying

And it sucks too cus the ship simply doesn’t tickle my brain the way other ships do but I was perfectly fine with people having a hoot and a holler with it! But a loud sect of people make it look so bad
