Fuck I'm sad. Mormor is about a soldier who has no purpose and serves no cause, who never wanted to be part of a war in the first place. A young boy that never had the approval of his parents, whatever he did. Eventually he quit on that and set out to find his own meaning of everything. And he didn't until Jim. Jim on the other hand had never seen the caring side of a human and had learned to be ruthless and merciless for his own good. And then they meet and complete each other. Two broken halves made into an amalgam of something that has deeper meaning to them both than anything ever before. Sebastian finally has a purpose and Jim can experience affection. Neither is alone anymore. To describe it just as love would be a downgrade of what they actually have. They don't just empower each other, they're each other's most important weaknesses, and that will eventually get at them. And then one day they just stop being. Each could feel the end approaching but that was never enough to make them pull away, they'd be there for every single last second. One day Jim just stopped being there. Sebastian lost all purpose again, but this time it was worse than before because now he knew how it felt and what he had lost. Meanwhile Jim died with the regret of hurting Sebastian, of never gifting back compassion. God forbid that either of them speak of their feelings, that would be the same as asking for a death sentence. If mormor begins loud and harsh and careless, it ends silent, a corpse on a rooftop, and a walking purposeless dead man.

They drove to France once! Unfortunately after a series of bad decisions involving hijacking, trespassing, a field of cows, three straight hours of classical French music, and two dozen Eiffel Tower figurines, Jim crashed the car into the Seine.

Well, I’m not the best person to ask, nonnie. I don’t read that much mormor fanfic anymore because I’m too committed to my own headcanons and reading different versions feels a little odd (which makes me sound like a massive prick, sorry!) You’re probably better off in the mormor tag, or over here.

But here are some I enjoyed (most of them are from before I started writing, so quite old):

Relentless Unheroic Necessary by gyzym and Everything London Can Do To You by postcardmystery: Moran/Moriarty, the fics that made me write These Violent Delights. I’m actually nervous about reading it these days because mine feels like a weak copy, and I may have unintentionally stolen more than one thing. Nasty fucks being fucking nasty. Proceed with caution. (neither of the authors is in the sherlock fandom anymore these days, btw, so keep that in mind re: comments and wanting sequels and things like that) (mature)

Until Morale Improves by Lizapod: ahahaha, well. My own personal antidote when the mormor tag gets too fluffy for my tastes, because not a shred of sentimentality can be found here. Moran/Moriarty, bloodplay and sex, do not read if you’re easily squicked. (explicit. very explicit)

Burning Moon by paisley_pie: an ice cold Moriarty and a hopelessly devoted Moran. Often the dynamics in Moran-fics kinda thrown me off because they’re either too fluffy or too feelingless, but this hits exactly the right combination. (PG)

Once again it’s a takes-no-shit cynical fem!Moran and a wonderfully scary fem!Moriarty. (Matyre)

Lex stares up at the broken glass chamber, expression unreadable. The words hang heavily in the air. For a moment, nobody dares to make a sound. "Where's my son now?" Lex asks. "What-" Bewildered at Lex's choice of word, the man barks out. " Where- I don't know. Subject 13 is gone. He just-" He waves his hand in the air, desperately trying to mimic a take off gesture. "We tried to stop him, but you know, he's like, like Superman." He breathes out, trembling. Lex slowly turns to looks at him. His lips curls up to form the shadow of a smile. "Sir." The man swallows. "You have 48 hours to find my son." Lex says, expression turns ice cold.
