I think something people miss when it comes to Peter B's character in atsv is that he's incredibly passive. He spends most of that second movie just trying to defuse the impending fight, "Go easy on the kid" "Just give him a second" "okay let's all just take a breath" Literally holding his hands up in a pacifying manner while saying "Hey, hold on, hold on". Chasing after Miles and catching up to him just to talk to him.
And like, that passivity is the problem! Sure, he's not out to hurt him like Miguel but he isn't actively helping him like Margo does either. Because he's trying to keep everything from falling apart and trying to deescalate instead of focusing on helping and protecting Miles, Miles gets hurt. I think it's just something that gets missed when people (rightfully) critique Peter's actions, or more accuratly inaction.
And sure we don't know what happened between movies, what exactly Peter was told and how much he buys into the canon theory, or how he was affected by watching and being there for a collapse of a world. and I do think we will get more context for the actions of every character. ultimately I just think all the characters are more complex then what TikTok comment sections boil them down to
You can't convince me that the peter in atsv (Mr. "how bout I crack a super unfunny and insensitive joke in a super serious moment just for craps and cackles") is the same dude who was quite literally ready to sacrifice his life so that the other spideys could get home. Nope. I refuse.
Also, stop the Jess hate!!! She absolutely does NOT deserve it!!!
