While I'll be keeping this blog name and logo for the next couple of weeks so that all of you who already follow this blog know who I am, I'm thrilled to announce that we'll soon be rebranding to what I hope will become a yearly, or even biannual, communal charity drive for the online StarCanWreckedPulp fan fam to come together for a chosen cause! For this inaugural run, I have decided to raise money for Palestine and other peoples suffering genocide. In order to gain the rewards that will be offered by the event, people will simply have to submit screenshot proof that they have donated to a fundraiser supporting victims of genocide.
As part of the event, I will be doing a giveaway in which the winner will be able to chose any one item from the official Starkid, TCB, or Shipwrecked stores to get for free. While this will be the Grand Prize, I hope to have a couple of other prizes up for grabs as well.
This is where you guys come in--what prizes would you like the chance to win? What artist would you love to win a commission from? Please fill out the survey below--no emails are collected and it's just the one question!
Please note that this is just me gathering ideas. I'll be selecting prizes based off of various practical criteria, and many artists I ask may instead choose to show their support in other ways they feel are more fitting or effective.
The dates of the event have not yet been decided. Check back soon for more information!
TLDR; Fill out the attached one-question survey (no personal info collected) to tell me what StarCanWreckedPulp artists you'd like to win a free commission from!
starkid angela fans writing essays on the characters of grace chasity and lex foster and how amazing and heartbreaking angelas performance as them is vs smosh angela fans bringing up the time she thought xylophone was spelt zillaphone
I understand wanting some of the older starkid members to come back, heck I would love that too, but I think fans need to remember that sometimes people just aren't able to be involved in shows because of outside factors or because they don't necessarily want to act and do musicals anymore (like Joe Walker). I'm not sure what all the old members are doing these days, but I know there are a few others who just aren't acting anymore, which means they probably won't come back for anything other than reunion shows. A lot of them also don't live in LA and/or have full-time jobs, which would make it harder for them to be involved. I do miss seeing the older members and understand others do too, but at the same time I think we should appreciate the awesome and talented people we have.
Thinking about how people often say that teenage love isn’t going to last and then considering how strong Lex and Ethan’s relationship is. Yeah they fight sometimes but they’re a pretty healthy couple all things considered, and especially given how close Hannah and Ethan are they already feel like a functioning family. Also, even if Ethan’s dad at least seems to be around we never really see him appear anywhere, reinforcing the reliance that these three characters have on one another caused in part by Lex and Hannah’s parents. I like how realistic they are and how they love so so strongly despite having been hardened by the world around them.
And all this makes it much more heartbreaking when you realise that in every timeline, in one way or another, their relationship never really gets to last.
Obviously I'm a bit hyperfocused on Spies Are Forever, but there's so so much more to talk about with the Tin Can Bros kickstarter! We've already unlocked some videos from This Could Be On Broadway, and at 150k we unlock the TCBOB album on Spotify! This is some quality shit, ok? If you want more, consider:
Do you absolutely need to see more of Alexa? You’re in luck! She returns in Joe’s episode of KOG which we’re so close to unlocking! https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/tincanbros/tinlightenment-world-tour
