I think what you said is a deeper thing to what I meant and I agree! Also I think they thrive on those platforms because whenever they make mistakes, all they have to do is post some halfhearted apology and in a few weeks people will magically forget about it. This has been going on since forever but tiktok takes this to another level

yes 100% agree that there are so many people who have a following yet are so lacking in accountability bc it's so easy to get away with on these platforms bc 1) easy to scroll and ignore and never have to deal w/ ever again and 2) new following can be built up easily through promotion and burying of old content. like unless your name is so notorious and people are constantly bringing up your dirt and actively searching for what you did in the past then you don't have to be a great person to thrive in that environment
