Some new doodles and revisions of old pieces (⁠人⁠ ⁠•͈⁠ᴗ⁠•͈⁠) I've been kinda scrapbooking some old art of mine that I've always been especially proud of and deciding to revise them alongside make some new drawings!! Highly recommend it's super fun

I've been reevaluating what I wanna do with some of my art and mediums, and in the process I've done some fun doodles and revised some old pieces to adapt them closer to how I would better enjoy them nowadays (⁠*⁠´⁠ω⁠｀⁠*⁠)

Definitely won't Stop my current fantastical-realism art style, but I've come to better appreciate the art of being fun and not putting every piece of my work under the light of perfectionism. I've been resource gathering for YEARS so now I am going to share my dragons hoard

Floorplanner. Design and furnish a house for you to use for having a consistent background in your comic or anything! Free, you need an account, easy to use, and you can save multiple houses.

Comparing Heights. Input the heights of characters to see what the different is between them. Great for keeping consistency. Free.

Magma. Draw online with friends in real time. Great for practice or hanging out. Free, paid plan available, account preferred.

Smithsonian Open Access. Loads of free images. Free.

SketchDaily. Lots of pose references, massive library, is set on a timer so you can practice quick figure drawing. Free.

SculptGL. A sculpting tool which I am yet to master, but you should be able to make whatever 3d object you like with it. free.

Pexels. Free stock images. And the search engine is actually pretty good at pulling up what you want.

Figurosity. Great pose references, diverse body types, lots of "how to draw" videos directly on the site, the models are 3d and you can rotate the angle, but you can't make custom poses or edit body proportions. Free, account option, paid plans available.

Line of Action. More drawing references, this one also has a focus on expressions, hands/feet, animals, landscapes. Free.

Animal Photo. You pose a 3d skull model and select an animal species, and they give you a bunch of photo references for that animal at that angle. Super handy. Free.

Height Weight Chart. You ever see an OC listed as having a certain weight but then they look Wildly different than the number suggests? Well here's a site to avoid that! It shows real people at different weights and heights to give you a better idea of what these abstract numbers all look like. Free to use.

💗 - if they have a crush, is it noticeable? what changes when they're in love?

I'd like to think August can sorta hide it,,, emphasis on sorta KWJDKWNDK (⁠•⁠ ⁠▽⁠ ⁠•⁠;⁠) I think he's the type of person to drop hints when he's crushing - if he thinks they'll reciprocate. If he's on the fence about them liking him back, I think he's much more guarded and careful about his approach to their continued relationship - not like he'll avoid them or anything, but he'd be much more careful about answering some questions or being alone w them and the like. To his friends? Yes absolutely you can tell when he likes someone LMAO he'd ask advice from his friends about how to go about certain things depending

I'll answer the second question in regards to being in love rather than crushing - which, I'll just quickly answer anyway I guess, while crushing he's much more self conscious about his dress and demeanor and will make attempts to show a more "presentable" side of himself. When he's truly in love with someone I think he's noticeably happier - he's a laid back guy, though hardworking, but I'd imagine he's not only chill while in love but genuinely softer - more comfortable with himself, tries harder in his appearance, takes better care of his hygiene/grooming/luxury care, that sort of thing. Smiles more, laughs more, yadda yadda.

I don't think he's entirely someone who needs someone else to live, but truth be told I think he places relationships on a high pedestal, and by proxy sorta just. Places a lot of emphasis on happiness = togetherness. Considering his big family and close-knit friends, I think he gets lonely much faster than people would anticipate him to - he'd much rather spend his time with people than by himself, and having a partner solves that issue most of the time (or it should, I should say).

🌟 - what do they think about when they look at the night sky? is there someone they want to stargaze with?

First question, I think Samuel thinks about a lot of things - but I have a feeling he always circles back to camping. It just reminds him of getting away from Manhattan, getting away from people and the city in general, and breathing in fresh, cold, wilderness air. Him and his brothers used to go camping a lot, to get away from everything, and now with half of them gone I'd like to think he and Elliott still keep up the occasional tradition of going out and pitching tents to get away from everything and more. They'd draw constellations in the sky, roast marshmallows and make stew over their campfire, catch up on life, talk about things only the two of them and the woods will ever know. When they were younger, they'd tell ghost stories - but I think those memories leave a bitter taste in his mouth. Considering everything, I don't think he enjoys stories like that anymore, both out of principle and out of it being just a little too painful. It feels like a lot of people in his life are ghosts, now.

The second question is a little more cut and dry. The secondary still-real answer that Samuel'd probably answer this with? Definitely Maxwel. He's beautiful, he's sweet, he's everything he wants in a man - and above everything, he thinks he's a good listener and a good talker. For all the times he wants to yap his ear off, and for all the times he just wants someone else to control the conversation, he knows Max's got him.

The primary answer to this question, which you'd probably only pry out of him over a sappy night, 3 bottles of wine in, is probably his mom. Once upon a lifetime ago, she went out to camp with them for once - usually, she left it up to the eldest brother to take care of them all, out of trust and love of course - but she decided, once and only once, that she wanted to come along. It was the first and only time it happened, and Samuel was much, much younger when it happened, but he still thinks about that time fondly. Nowadays, there's some days she remembers his name, and some days she can't remember that he's the youngest. The camping trip with her is lost from her memory, and so he and his only brother are left to remember it for her.

I'd like to think he'd want to stargaze with her again someday, even if just on her back porch, and even if she doesn't remember what it was like that one camping trip more than a decade ago now. He remembers, and that's as happy as he's gonna have to be with that.

🌈 - what advice would they give to their younger self?

Other than admit that she was gay way sooner than she did? Other than sooner understanding her dad loves her regardless and she doesn't need a husband to make him or her family happy with her? Because both of those would have definitely made her child and teenagehood less stressful 😭😭

I think Ophelia'd say to herself that she needs to get weirder. In a sincere, heartfelt way, I think she would want to tell herself that she's gonna be alright, and being comfortable in her own skin - physically, mentally, emotionally - can't happen while she's trying to cover up everything she thinks isn't perfect. I think she had this idea in her head, and to this day still struggles to shake it from her mind, that she needs to live up to expectations. She needs to be intelligent, beautiful, witty, crafty, a jack of all trades and a master of all, because to not be those things means letting down her family, and sullying what people think of her.

She'd grab her younger self and say just. Fuckin'. Enjoy your rock bands and your gore/pornogrind and keep practicing that heavy metal screaming you do in your bedroom when no one's in that wing of the house. Because, who cares, right? Why live at all if you can't afford yourself something that makes you happy? In a spiritual sense, I mean, not like. Financial. Duh.

In the best way possible I think she'd want her younger self to get weirder and be comfortable being weird so she didn't have to pick up the pieces as she got older and have to start working on it now. Better late than never, it's never too late, et cetera etc but part of her does feel upset by her own insecurity. I'd like to think, despite everything, that she has friends now that could help her be more comfortable with herself and stop trying to fit into the "perfect" mold her mind thinks she should be in.
