TGAA is such an inherently funny game i personally find the van zieks mystery hysterical like you're so used to the ace attorney formula of people being like "the Evil prosecutor hasn't lost a case in 5 years because of Evil Practices" so when some guy tells you that van zieks is a problem for the defense because he's the reaper or something and anyone he prosecutes is done for, you don't bat an eye because a win streak is custom for every prosecutor we meet but then suddenly some guy is like "no actually he doesn't have a win streak he just kills the defendants when he loses" incredible

Van Zieks seemingly has zero personal connection to Ryunosuke at all and that makes him so absurdly funny to me. Every previous (mainline) game has had the prosecutor have a personal and meaningful connection to the defense in one way or another— a shared past, adopted family, connections through a mutual loved one… but not Van Zieks. This man saw a random Japanese college student having the worst school field trip of all time and came out of retirement specifically to ruin his day further

me: so u see apollo's objection theme starts out with the melody following the same beat as the rhythm track in the background, unlike phoenix's objection themes, which are all very distinctively syncopated all the way through. but as apollo's theme progresses the melody gradually gets more out of sync with the background rhythm track. this shows that while phoenix's style is unconventional and "off-beat" from the start, apollo starts out trying to do his job by the book but eventually finds that the most effective way to seek justice is to be a little unconventional and not just follow the beaten track because u can't win by following the rules in a broken system. do u understand. he's finding his voice. making himself heard against the background. it's symbolism
