Blake_boy (from MTS2 fame) hailed from Australia, a young guy then, with a girlfriend who frequented reflexsims. Our conversations revealed a friendly person uninterested in sims, crafting objects for hobby. I asked about pictures his GF shared of his unreleased furniture, which he humbly shared, despite thinking they weren't great (they were incredible, though).

Mini tutorial on how to improve catalogue thumbnails for custom TS2 decor items using SimPe

Tiny object mesh combined with large shadow mesh often results in crappy thumbnail (even if you can’t see the ground shadow that doesn’t mean there isn’t one).

The most popular TS2 deco cloning material ever: Fruit bowl & Chinese vase both come with custom (non-standard) thumbnail camera settings. Vase settings may work well for some cc meshes but usually don’t. Fruit bowl camera settings are sh*t.

Note: obviously you can also replace the shadow with a smaller one.

Note2: By “the entire mesh” I meant: everything above the ground level ;)

And if you’d rather fix a shadow instead of removing it, I did a tut on that.

Sometimes it’s enough to clear out custom thumbnail camera settings in thumbnailExtension. Sometimes removing or resizing the shadow will do the trick - often it’s both.

Hello, it’s hard and scary for me to write this.

 I fled my country and am now in a difficult life situation with no money to exist, so I created patreon page, and also ko-fi. I am not an expert on this at all but there is a new DXVK update, which sounds like it should fix pink flashing for good (see this reddit post).

Has anyone tried it? Any comments from people who understand this better than I do? :D

How to: Make sure your new PC can play Sims 2

Here are certain numbers you need to know - they are (from the graphic rules):    seti cpuLevelHigh           3000    seti cpuLevelMedium      2600    seti cpuLevelLow            2000 So when you are getting your CPU - you need to have at least 3 MHz. Now, Sims 2 was invented before dual cores, quad cores, and octo cores - so it doesn’t really know how to deal with them. What that means is that if you have an octo core with less than 2600 it will lag, regardless of the fact it actually has way more than 3000 in total. 1. Look for CPU where EACH core has more than 2600. (It can cope with dual cores kind of, so 2600 is enough). You’re better off with fewer cores, but you can control how the game works if you have more so it’s not a deal breaker. 2. RAM - always get as much as RAM as you can. RAM is what determines how much CC you can handle. 3. If you can get your Operating System and/or your game onto an SSD drive it will go like the clappers. An SSD drive is as fast as RAM when it comes to accessing hard drives. This is not so much from a processing point of view, as it is an accessing your game data point of view. Also if you can have your paging files on a separate drive to your O/S and game - that will make it go faster as well, because it won’t be trying to access two different parts of the drive at the same time. 4. Graphics cards - avoid NVidia if you can because there has been some lagging trouble with them and Windows 10. Radeon and Intel seem fine. NVidia can be OK, but needs to be tweaked to get it to work. The larger the graphics card memory, the less problem with pink flashy. When installing your game on Windows 10 - I have a forum over at Leefish with all the details on how to get it run, based on whether you have Ultimate Collection or the CD/DVDs. VERY IMPORTANT NOTE FOR THE SIMS 2 PLAYERS.

Recently my game (TS2) would lower the fps, crash or even not open.

After a long time i discovered that my windows 10 had an update and broke my game. Of course i disable ALL the updates for the future (that is a thing that you don’t have to follow..) and i found a solution.

The 4GB Patch Repair.I am gonna mention i have 10GB cc on my download folder and the update made my game reset by the 4GB patch repair (THAT I HAD in the past) and made it broke.

First to check if you had the 4GB patch in the past but you believe it has stopped working, go to your Sims 2 Folder in Documents:

Documents>The Sims 2 Ultimate Collection>Logs>DESKTOP-HIP7R3K-config-log.

Open this config note and if you see the Memory to be below 4.000 then you have to install the 4GB.

Download The 4GB Patch Repair Program HERE and follow the VERY simple tutorial ill write.

Extract the file.

Open it.

Go find your main Sims 2.exe file ( i have the Ultimate Collection so here is my Path)  “C:\Program Files (x86)\Origin Games\The Sims 2 Ultimate Collection\Fun with Pets\SP9\TSBin\Sims2EP9.exe" 

Select it and click ok.

Done.

Open your game, wait it to lunch completely and close it.

After this, go again to your Sims 2 Folder in Documents:

Documents>The Sims 2 Ultimate Collection>Logs>DESKTOP-HIP7R3K-config-log. 

Open this config note and if you see the Memory to be changed into 4.000 then you are ready.
