purple spring

My moon I look to the moon for reassurance. Bombarded by my own overwhelming conscience, feeling lost in a whirlwind of emotions, I seek her dependable nature at the end of the night. She’s calm, and she listens. She knows, and she gets it. One eye open for a lost wanderer, A clear light amidst busy evening skies.   I feel her protective gaze cast down, providing solace, and am once again comforted by her unwavering sight. She never doubts, and never puts down. She never overlooks, and never ignores. Pouring out my secrets, to the rock on my side, she’s a radiant sphere of glowing brilliance. There’s a sweet release of untold frustration, a soliloquy to an audience of one. She is patient, and she cares. She is always there, and always will be. Theres a girl out there, one who looks to the moon and thinks of me, wherever I am, wherever she is. One look to the moon and I am reminded that she cares, that she’s out there, wherever there may be, looking to the same moon, looking for the same reassurance as me.

(I wrote this for a friend of mine. The two of us spoke on the phone on her birthday on opposites sides of the world, noticing that we could both see the same moon, we were comforted by its presence in both our lives despite the distance between us. Now whenever we see the moon we think of one another)

Flowers

I would not have considered myself much of a romantic

In fact, if I had ever said it before, it was sarcastic

The idea of a gift of flowers is nice

But a hug and a kiss would definitely suffice

And I do not know how, and I do not know when

Maybe after a row, maybe it was then

But I came home one day to this beautiful bouquet

And I just could not get over this wonderful display.  

They sat there, ever so pretty, smiling sweetly

And I just fell in love, utterly, and completely.

A small act of kindness, to confirm what I know

They tell me he loves me, without having to say so.

So no, I’m not much of a romantic, but buy me flowers?

And oh my love, I’ll stare at them for hours.
