Finally, this.  I wouldn't the Oilers are just terrible within Canada, but most likely all of the NHL.  That's saying something considering how terrible the Sharks are.  Goaltending is frequently talked about, but it's much more than that.   Eck is a great channel that also breaks things down in a different way. Things needs to change and change soon.  The Oiler went into a slump last season and canned Dave Tippett because of that.  Jay Woodcroft was brought in and the Oilers went deep in the playoffs. If they can't turn it around, they may have to find another coach in short order.  If they do, hopefully they can salvage something. Canada's hockey culture means there is a lot of pressure, especially on an NHL level.  But right now, the Oilers have the most.

ICYMI: Jack Campbell was waivered. It took a whole season to realize he wasn't worth it and they overpaid. I would say live and learn, but they haven't learned anything.

Whether you say the Edmonton Oilers are broken, a disaster, pathetic, etc., something needs to be done.  So far one thing has happened and I will post that video.  What put it over the top is the fact this video is currently trending fifth on YouTube.  I've never seen a hockey related video trend on YouTube. I don't know what else to say, but congrats.

Mike Babcock resigned after two months with the Columbus Blue Jackets without even having coached a game.  Hilarious.  I bet the Blue Jackets are regretting their decision to hire him.  Going through people's phone to to get to "know them better" is a privacy issue.  He went from "best coach" in NHL to one of the most hated.  Babcock should have stayed retired.  Hopefully no other team is stupid enough to bring him in.

Pierre-Luc Dubois and Los Angeles Kings is a Done Deal

The Pierre-Luc Dubois and Los Angeles Kings deal is done. In exchange for Dubois, the Winnipeg Jets get forwards Alex Iafallo, Rasmus Kupari, and Gabriel Vilardi, and a second round pick in the 2024 draft. Dubois and the Kings have already agreed to an eight-year deal with an $8.5 million AAV.  Did the Kings give up too much?   With Dubois' toxic history, how long before his toxic attitude penetrates the Kings' locker room?  If he's dead set on wanting to play for the Canadiens, how long before Dubois decides he doesn't want to be in Los Angeles anymore?  Hopefully he doesn't do anything to make the Kings organization regret signing him to such a lofty deal.

Las Vegas Wins Stanley Cup

Congrats to the Vegas Golden Knights.  2023 Stanley Cup Champions.  You can say what you want, but they were hands the down the best team in the playoffs. People like to say so and so is too small and this and that.  But Johnathan Marchessault winning the Conn Smythe shows you that you don't have to be a big guy to be a top guy.  He is the first undrafted player to win it since Wayne Gretzky in 1988. What a playoffs it was.  Highs, lows, wins, losses and combebacks.  A lot of team are or will be looking different from the top down.  See you next season.

Phil Kessel Slays

Phil Kessel slayed his haters: "Takes me back to my Toronto days. You guys said I couldn’t win, and now I’m a three-time champ. Remember that." He has three Stanley Cups while Wayne Gretzky has four.  Not many can say they have as many as Kessel. Wasn't talked about in the playoffs, but that's okay.  He's proven people wrong.  The iron man with a dad bod.  He's the iron man we never knew we needed or wanted.  He's the only guy to put hot dogs in the Stanley Cup while golfing.

Another legend and icon has passed.  The Queen of rock ‘n’ roll, Tina Turner passed away today. She passed away at her home in Switzerland after a long illness.  She is nobody’s private dancer anymore. She was 83.  Rest in peace, Tina.
