Adrien knew once Marinette had been expelled that Lila was worse than he had imagined. Lying about knowing celebrities and going on amazing trips all over the world was once thing, but lying in order to hurt others? He just felt bad for giving Marinette the advice to take the high road. If he had known…

Adrien sighed as he sat in his chair, looking out over the water of the Seine. He waited a moment, then spoke.

"I warned you once already, but you didn't listen," He said, not meeting Lila's eyes, "You hurt Marinette, and that's not okay." He quelled the anger rising. Adrien had no idea just how far Lila was willing to go in order to get her way.

Her simpering voice cut in, and it took all he had in him not to push her into the Seine. "Me? Hurting Marinette? But she's the one…" Adrien cut her off, not wanting to listen to her lies.

"I can't prove you lied, because you're good at it. So you'll have to come up with another convincing lie, only this time, it'll prove Marinette's innocent." He glared at her, and watched as her face fell into a sneer. She turned away from him.

"And why would I do that, Adrien?" she asked. He bit his lip.

"Because we're friends, aren't we?"

"Just friends?" He could practically hear the smirk in her voice.

Adrien thought to himself. "You need more than that?"

Lila looked down at her nails, "I mean, you're asking quite a lot of me. If I'm going to give you what you want, you should give me something I want in return. Sure, being your father's 'muse' is great and all, but I can think of something better." She turned back towards him and faked a smile, resting her hand on his chest.

Adrien resisted a shudder. He was silent for a second, but then sighed.

"Get Marinette back in school first, then we'll talk."

It was great, seeing Marinette run back into class and get all but tackled in hugs. Adrien had no intention of telling her what he had done, the deal he made with the devil. But, seeing her smile again was worth it.

Lila walked into class soon after, and spoke up in a sickeningly false sweet tone, "Oh, Marinette, I'm so glad you're back! I am so sorry my disease caused you to be expelled! I hope you don't hold it against me!"

Adrien had to hand it to Marinette, her fake smile and "Oh, it's not your fault, you can't control it!" were enough to convince the others, but he could just see her lip vaguely curl in disgust. Despite himself, it brought a certain sense of satisfaction to him.

That satisfaction all but disappeared as Lila plopped herself down next to Adrien and latched onto him. He had moved to the back, a fake smile sent in response to Nino's questioning look. Immediately, all eyes were on them, and Adrien forced a model smile on his face.

Lila fake confusion at the stares, before she perked up. "Oh! We must have forgotten to tell you!" She moved closer to Adrien, and he held back his shudder. "Adrien and I are dating!"

The class was silent for a moment, before it exploded into noise. Wolf-whistles rang out from some (Kim), while congratulations came from others (Rose). Adrien turned to the side and saw Marinette looking crushed. He winced internally. He knew it must look bad, him dating the girl who got her expelled, but he could handle her being mad as long as she was back in school and with her friends.

The reaction that confused him the most, though, was Alya's. She sent him a calculating look, and then sent Marinette a sympathetic wince. Wait, did she know of Lila's lies? Adrien thought Alya believed Lila.

"When did this happen, Agreste?" Kim smirked. Lila cut in before Adrien could respond.

"You all know how I've started modelling with his father's brand? Well, after a few shoots together, we grew closer, and he asked me out the other day!" the class cooed, and Adrien nodded along, grimacing inside.

He felt Lila lean up and kiss him on the cheek. He repressed his disgusted reaction and continued smiling. It's for Marinette, he reminded himself, he is doing this for Marinette.

I wish you would write a story about Peter practically PUSHING Tony back into his room every time he tries to work in the lab bc he caught a cold (you can pretend like Tony's banned Peter from work bc of a cold before and this is revenge)

Peter is lab-sitting.

Okay, maybe that’s the wrong word, because a room that is observed by an AI literally every nanosecond of ever day of every year doesn’t need any extra observation from a teenager, even one who can stick to walls.

Let’s start again.

Peter is defending the lab.

From whom, you might ask?

From the genius billionaire who designed, built, and paid for it. Peter never thought he would have to do something like this, but everyone gets proven wrong once in a while.

Yesterday, Peter got a call from Rhodey, who sounded a bit stressed. However, he wasn’t stressed because of the mission he’s currently carrying out for the UN or something, no, it’s something completely different. Tony is sick. And not the having-the-sniffles kind of sick, more like the his-brain-is-mush-and-he has-no-control-or-working-judgment-whatsoever kind of sick (“So, not so different from his usual behavior, but a hell lot of a more stubborn. You wouldn’t believe the shit he did at MIT whenever he was sick. Telling terrorist his home address and prompting them to take a shot at him is nothingcompared to that.”). The problem is that Pepper is also away on an important business trip (she offered to come back immediately, abandoning the business negotiations she’s currently leading, which really is saying a lot about how serious the situation actually is), and even though FRIDAY is still there, the only thing Tony does seem to remember is the code to override her. And a sick Tony still loves to tinker around in his lab, which leads to more accidents than anyone cares about.

Peter’s mission is simple. He has to stay at the penthouse for two days tops (it is his spring break and May gave her okay), making sure that Tony isn’t entering his lab, maybe make him some tea, and ordering food via FRIDAY, who is monitoring Tony’s vitals, calling a doctor once his condition becomes concerning. Peter packed enough stuff to keep him busy – school assignment, some person projects, a few books he saw MJ reading, a list of movies Ned recommended –, gave May a kiss on her cheek as a goodbye, and made his way towards the Stark-Potts home.

Easy enough, right?

Wrong.

Because Rhodey really wasn’t exaggerating when he said Tony is a lot more stubborn when he’s sick. At first, everything seemed peaceful enough, with the billionaire agreeing to watch a movie with Peter, even though he – predictably – fell asleep five minutes in, and slept for hours. The trouble began once he woke up, insisting he had a brilliant idea he needs to work on right now and made his way to the lab. From there, it only got worse, to the point that Peter decided to camp out in the lab, just to make sure Tony doesn’t sneak in, because he already overwrote FRIDAY twice, stopping her from contacting Peter, and unlocking all the doors and cabinets Peter previously locked.

But he has a plan.

Tony will probably ground him for a million years – aka he is on bot-sitting duty, because the only one who can really ground Peter is May, and Tony can’t stand banning him from the lab for more than 10 days, and they already been through the entire not-being-Spider-Man-anymore drama – but it’s a punishment Peter is willing to take. As long as his favorite lab doesn’t get destroyed. Oh, yeah, and as long as Tony doesn’t accidently hurt himself.

… but also the lab.

Thanks to his enhanced senses, Peter hears the almost soundless swoosh of the lab door and Tony’s soft steps – because he’s wearing only socks, which is quite unusual for him – that soon follow, and he looks up from his homework. “You’re not supposed to be here.”

“This is my home,” Tony answers in a nasal voice. His eyes are barely open, his hair sticks up in every direction, his posture is slightly slouched, and thanks to all the additional stumble from not shaving, the iconic shape of his goatee is almost gone. “I can go wherever I want.”

“I thought we agreed that you take a nap that last for at least 12 hours.”

Tony raises his eyebrows in a way that usually means he’s not impressed with what Peter is saying, but given his current state, it doesn’t have the same effect. “Oh no, you don’t make the rules here, pipsqueak. I’m the adult, and you’re the child.”

Peter rolls his eyes. “I’m almost an adult.”

“You’re 17. You’re basically a baby. You know what I did when I was your age?”

“Graduating from MIT and getting black-out drunk.” Which is true, because way too many articles about Tony start with The young genius went to MIT when he was just 15 years old, graduated two years later, and took over the Stark Industries at 21 – however, for most of his life, Tony Stark has been more interested in getting drunk and enjoying his life than anything else.

Tony blinks, looking at Peter in deep confusion, as if he has to think about if Peter is actually right or not. Then, the emotions on his face suddenly shift, the stubbornness melting away to an almost vulnerable expression. By now, Peter is used to seeing it, because it happened too often during the time he is looking after Tony. “Don’t be like me,” he says, sounding so defeated, that Peter’s heart almost starts to ache. “I did so much shit and made so many mistakes, and you… you’re so much better than me. I don’t even deserve to be your mentor.”

“Don’t say that,” Peter interrupts him, getting up from his chair to come closer, and slipping his phone in his pocket. “You’re a great mentor! The best I could ask for!”

“Really?”

“Yeah, absolutely.” With a smile, Peter opens his arms and hugs Tony, which the man immediately accepts by returning the hug, trying to put his head on top of Peter’s (which is quite difficult since Peter’s most recent growth spurt), but settling for his shoulder instead. “And one learns through mistakes, right? Learning by doing and all that?”

“Thank you,” Tony says, his voice unusual emotional. “That… That does mean a lot to me, Pete. For you to say that I’m doing an okay job.”

“More than okay,” Peter gently corrects him, tightening the arms around him. He waits for a few heartbeats. “And I’m sorry.”

“What?”

Before Tony can process what’s happening, the kid with superstrength already picked him up and is walking to his bed room. “It’s for your own good.”

“Put me down!”

“Nope.”

“This is… This is outrages! You’re grounded!”

“Yeah, I know, I know.”

Tony tries to break free, but it’s completely fruitless. For one, Peter has superstrength, and Tony, in his weakened state, is by far not strong enough to be a match for him. The entire way, he is loudly complaining, threatening and trying to bribe him, but none of it works, because Peter all but throws the man onto his bed before darting out of the room, closing the door behind him. Then, he pulls out his phone and activates the new protocol he installed for FRIDAY that Tony can’t overwrite.

Behind the closed door, there is some stumbling going on. “Parker!”

“Just sleep,” Peter yells back, a big grin on his face. “You can’t get out of here anyway.”

“Oh yeah? And what if something happens?”

“FRIDAY is keeping an eye on you, and Droney got rid of all the potentially dangerous stuff in there. Literally all you can do is sleep.”

“You little shit! You were manipulating me!”

“I know,” he admits, having way too much fun. “I watched a video about it. Do you think I would make a good spy? I think I would. All I need is a cool code name.”

“I think Backstabber would be fitting.”

“You know what? That does actually have a nice ring to it. Anyway, I’m going back to the lab now.”

“Parker, come back!”

“Sleep tight and don’t let the bed bugs bite!”
