Hello QuiObi fans!
This year, The Phantom Menace turns 25, and will be commemorated by the Party Like It's 1999 event: a long-standing fan-run tradition that marks these anniversaries.
We decided not to hold our May the Fourth Exchange this year so that interested creators can devote all of their efforts to Party Like It's 1999. If you are unfamiliar with this well-loved event, please visit @quiobi-lover's post here, and check out the masterlists from past years.

this is HYOOOGE.
Scientists at UC Riverside have demonstrated a new, RNA-based vaccine strategy that is effective against any strain of a virus and can be used safely even by babies or the immunocompromised.  Every year, researchers try to predict the four influenza strains that are most likely to be prevalent during the upcoming flu season. And every year, people line up to get their updated vaccine, hoping the researchers formulated the shot correctly. The same is true of COVID vaccines, which have been reformulated to target sub-variants of the most prevalent strains circulating in the U.S. This new strategy would eliminate the need to create all these different shots, because it targets a part of the viral genome that is common to all strains of a virus. The vaccine, how it works, and a demonstration of its efficacy in mice is described in a paper published today in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences.  “What I want to emphasize about this vaccine strategy is that it is broad,” said UCR virologist and paper author Rong Hai. “It is broadly applicable to any number of viruses, broadly effective against any variant of a virus, and safe for a broad spectrum of people. This could be the universal vaccine that we have been looking for.”

when he was running, the media amplified 'crooked hilary' but now that he's indicted, they're all but silent on 'crooked donny'. this is a travesty of justice. the man deserves to be locked up for a long, long time.

no, the parties are NOT the same. people are going to die if tRump gets back in office and that's the truth.
just vote, ffs.
Vote
Some brainless twit on xitter just gave me an Elmo shrug gif when I suggested that people who didn't vote because they would never elect Donnie or Hillary actually elected Donnie. This was after they opined that "[politicians] are all the same evil."
Based on mortality in my family, I only have to put up with the Supreme Court & Federal judiciary Donnie and Mitch built for another 18 years.¹
I wish Elmo's #1 fan an interesting life.
¹ Less if I don't pay more attention to the local elderly drivers.

my last gynecologist told me i'd be in perimenopause for the rest of my life, due to my pcos. i had a hysterectomy in the late 90s due to it and i think she's right, i'm never going to hit true menopause. i get migraines and hot flashes but thankfully, i've discovered gabapentin, the miracle drug that manages to keep all my symptoms under a modicum of control. my neurologist says that's a 'side-effect' of the gabapentin, but whatever, it works. you might want to check it out if you've got the hormonal imbalance crap like what pcos puts you through.
in a comment with my ol' pal @elon-musks-disrespectful-nipples I bemoaned the fact that no one really warned me how fucking shitty perimenopause would be
like I got plenty of warnings from lots of women and girls about my period but LADIES we are falling down on warning women about perimenopause
I didn't have migraine headaches before perimenopause. Oh, I got headaches. Bad ones, even. BUT NOT MIGRAINES!
Hot flashes feel like they come from the inside of your soul, btw. You can try to stick your head in a freezer or stand under an air conditioning vent, but until it passes, NOTHING will make you feel cool and comfortable.
I had some wicked PMDD in the first couple of years but that has THANKFULLY passed as my periods become less of a thing
feel free anyone to reblog and add your perimenopausal nightmares to warn your good sisters what might be coming

i thought i felt an earthquake! nothing is showing up on the news tho, so i don't know what's going on...
I hate earthquakes. I'm an east-coaster and not equipped to deal with my whole office shaking and growling at me. Earthquake, you're drunk. Go home.

You’re tying the laces of the boot on your fucking neck.
word.
you know i have never heard a convincing arguement as to why AO3 should not moderate the content that is posted to their website and i think a lot of the arguement against moderation on AO3 boils down to, terminally online people thinks community moderation is the same as government censorship and personally sending the cops to someone’s house to arrest them irl/
