the fact that i'm no longer the same age as the protagonists of novels and films i once connected to is so heartbreaking. there was a time when I looked forward to turning their age. i did. and i also outgrew them. i continue to age, but they don't; never will. the immortality of fiction is beautiful, but cruel.

#it’s one of the weirdest things about the new pjo show to me #it’s the first time I’m being introduced to these characters and I’m older than them #bc I was younger than them when I read the book for the first time #younger when the movies came out #and it’s the first time I’m experiencing this with any of my childhood books #cause I feel like even when rereading the books or rewatching movies #like Harry Potter for example #there’s still a part of me watching it that is this kid and they are still these role models #these cool older kids #even tho I’m older than them #bc that’s how they started off #but now #damn it’s so weird #it hurts

no cause like, the way they've turned gabe into this pathetic excuse of a man really got on my nerves. He's silly, almost idiotic in the show. I'm not saying that Sally should be mistreated but enduring what happened out of love for percy and how she breaks free from that abusive situation are intrinsically linked to gabe being this RAT

can't believe they'll do that to Sally and I hope I'm wrong and he'll eventually be what he's in the books (?) sounds unlikely though

#this was one of the changes I didn’t like #I am split with the first two episodes I liked them and was engaged and want more #but the pacing and some of the relationship dynamics felt off #my guess is some of those changes are to help with character development while the trio is on the quest #but other changes like gabe and mrs dodds lasting 5 seconds #idk it’s kinda annoying #I also don’t like that they know sally isn’t dead #if I remember correctly they implied that in the book and Percy’s main reason to go on the quest was for his mom #to try and get her back but he didn’t know she was alive #he was like ‘screw my dad he doesn’t care if there’s any chance I can find my mom I’m taking it’ #correct me if I’m wrong #idk im excited to see more and hoping it plays out like I’m thinking they might do it #pjo #pjo spoilers #pjo show spoilers #pjo show
