to anyone who remembers us (e.g. @daarchini, @pizzective, @alexandrintea, i hope we’re still friends): we’re so, so sorry for completely disappearing. we realized that tumblr was way too intense and bad for our mental health, and we don’t come around here anymore. (it’s kind of weird how this is the easiest website to bump into terfs on. we don’t have this problem on reddit. maybe because tumblr has no moderators. but positivity isn’t very helpful either. we can’t identify with it. we need positivity from siberia, not america or europe.) we do have facebook, but we’re scared to write back, because we’re afraid of owning up to being bad at maintaining personal relationships.
we just finally managed to finish all the work we needed to graduate college, a couple days ago. the actual graduation will be in august nothing else has really changed in our life. we have a new partner now. we invited them here to live with us, and we’re doing okay at supporting each other. the eventual plan is to move to seattle to continue doing protein stuff, as always. but that’ll be a while from now. we can’t even apply to uw until december. for a while we thought we could move to iqaluit (capital of nunavut) until then, but our partner doesn’t want to go, and we don’t want to go without them (or drag them there). oh well. maybe in the future.
for another while, we thought we were dying of chronic illness, but that seems less likely now. we got tested for a lot of stuff, and it all came up negative. we are still too tired to stand up most of the time. we’re going to get a cane soon. and maybe eventually a wheelchair. we just have to hide them from our parents. that wasn’t possible until now, because they were living with us. but now they’ve left for portugal, and we’re moving out by the time they get back.
so yeah, that’s what’s going on with us. we’re not coming back to tumblr, not regularly anyway. we’ll check the replies to this post though, of course. i hope we’re still cool. if you like, we’ll try to stay in touch. but not via tumblr.

Anyone else, esp. neurodivergent people, ever talk to someone and get elated because you’re like wow :) I am doing a Conversation :) I am doing the Asking Questions and Listening Attentively and Expressing Interest :) I have shared a Joke or brief Amusing Happening and this person liked it :) this person seems to enjoy speaking to me and I enjoy speaking to them :) I’m a person.

Hello ms demeanor, how would you argue with someone who thinks that when vaccines are out theyre gonna have 5g chips that will track you or whatever in them. I think my father, who's generally a reasonable person, is slipping into that rabbit hole...
I wouldn’t argue, I’d probably say something like “Dad, you’re saying things that don’t sound much like you recently and I’m worried. What’s going on?” and listen to him and do everything you possibly can to get him off youtube, facebook, twitter, and turn off fox news.
A lot of people are falling deeper into these rabbit holes because they have time to engage with conspiracy theories more than they ever have in the past and they’re getting something out of believing these things - a sense of agency, a sense of community. They’re probably also getting love-bombed in their antivax anti 5 g groups so you don’t want to be super adversarial otherwise you’re Just Like The Libs My New Friends Were Talking About.
If you do want to engage the way to do so best appears to be through sincerely asking questions.
“Huh, that sounds odd, that doesn’t sound like it’s right, why would people try to do [whatever unbelievable thing].”
“Wow, that sounds like a big project. Wouldn’t an awful lot of people have to keep that secret? I’m not sure you could keep a secret like that if large organizations were involved. I feel like some janitor somewhere would let the cat out of the bag.”
“Wow, dad, some of these people you’re talking about are. Kind of really scary. Why did [x famous antivaxxer your dad is quoting] say [x horrifyingly antisemitic or eugenicist thing]? It’s kind of scary hearing you quoting someone who thinks that way, I just want to understand” (famous antivaxxer/politician/woo peddler/whatever almost always has said something that generally reasonable people will find horrifying but will make up excuses to themselves for - they have a harder time making up an excuse to their scared child.)
Good luck.
Try not to blow it up into a fight or an ultimatum or anything; it’s harder to leave an extremist ideology if everyone in your life has told you how horrible your ideology is and how much they hate it - if you can be the listening ear without letting yourself get hurt too much try to be a safe, nonjudgemental person they can come back to if they start to get worried about the path they’re following.

I’m sure somebody’s mentioned it, but you should really read Kill Six Billion Demons, a webcomic in which the best main character is the anime kind of angel, and the best supporting character is the biblical kind of angel.
tumblr posts about how Well Actually Angels Look Like Scary Fire Monsters With One Bazillion Eyes And They Have Like Animal Heads Or Something And If You Look At Them You Will Die Immediately are so tiring sometimes. im making my ruling here angels indisputably look like this image i found on an anime wallpapers site

Concept: a buff fantasy race that consists purely of spellcasters
they’re all jocks
refers to magical research as “working out"
bro this mage hat is as wide as my pecs bro
spells looks like sports (batting a fireball with a staff, throwing an arcane orb like a football, slings wand like a tennis racket)

I've gained a new appreciation for fleas after treating my cat for them. Mainly, how they're positively INVINCIBLE when it comes to physical trauma. Most bugs are so fragile compared to our massive monkey strength, but fleas are on another level. They're clearly very well adapted to living on large mammals, but what exactly makes them so incredibly sturdy? Is it just their flat shape, or is there something else?
Yeah it’s largely their flatness; they’re so tiny that to us they may as well be as thin as a piece of confetti paper, but it’s also scaly and flexible, so it’s like a piece of confetti paper with overlapping plastic platemail.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
They can be crushed between hard, rough, or sharp enough objects with the right force, but they are otherwise impossible to simply “smush” or squeeze to death, fantastically adapted to evade everything most mammalian hosts can do to them!

I can't stop thinking about how much mole skeletons remind me of whale skeletons.
Tumblr media
We're all familiar with Space Whales but nobody ever talks about Space Moles. Or Desert Whales. Or Giant Ocean Moles. And that's terrible.

hmmm i'm sure none of our suicide attempts are associated with being harrassed for our entire life for being “lazy”
no one is too young for a mobility aid
dont make young adults, kids, teens or anyone else feel like their age invalidates their disability and struggle.
they wouldnt have it if they didnt need it.
and you saying im “too young to have this cane” isnt going to make my illness better, or make me less reliant on it.
its just going to guilt me into going without my cane, because ill feel like im too young to need it.

oh it’s not just disconnect with our peers. it’s disconnect with reality. also a bunch of our autistic and cptsd traits just happen to line up with traits foxes have so… okay relatedly i’m too dissociated to type a complete answer so this is all you’re getting
oh you’re neurodivergent? what non-human being did you pretend to be / believe yourself to be in order to cope with the disconnect you felt from your peers during your early childhood?

if you’re going to do this, you should probably have actual in-depth neurology knowledge, instead of just the ability to name a single neurotransmitter and act like it explains the mechanistics of an entire disorder
educate people & tell social stigma to fuck off with the help of technical language!
i’m having a depressive mood = “my brain isn’t correctly processing serotonin at the moment”
i can’t concentrate on a fucking thing bc adhd = “my brain is in full dopamine-seeking mode”
anxiety attack = “due to an unspecified perceived threat, my brain has elected to enter lockdown mode”
everything’s just a mess right now = “my neurotransmitters are a mess right now”
