Original “Harry Potter” Cast Members React to New Max Series – Part 1
New Post has been published on https://bit.ly/3UfXIy0
Original “Harry Potter” Cast Members React to New Max Series – Part 1
With last year’s announcement of the Harry Potter reboot, fans have many questions about the highly anticipated series. Who will play the much-loved characters? What does the original cast from the Harry Potter films think about the show, and would any original cast members consider making an appearance?
We’ve taken a look at some of the original cast members’ reactions below.
  Daniel Radcliffe
Of course, we had to start with the original Harry Potter himself, who is “excited” to watch the TV series as a viewer, as he told Variety.
I’ll be able to enjoy it with everyone else possibly, with a slightly different perspective. It’s a nice thing that a whole new generation is going to get introduced to the stories in a new way. They’ll see it as a TV series, so they’ll probably have time to go into all the things. So for the people that were angry about things that were cut from the film, hopefully, they will finally be able to see the full version they wanted.
Reminiscing about his time on the set of Potter, Daniel described it as “such a safe place to grow up” and hopes this safe environment will be replicated for the TV show’s cast.
He was, however, doubtful that he will be asked to join as a cameo.
It seems to me that they are wanting to make a very fresh series. It feels like it would be distracting to have old, haggard Harry also entering from stage left, so I’m certainly not seeking it out. But I’m very supportive of [the show] happening and wish particularly the kids nothing but the best.
  David Yates
As director of the final four Harry Potter films and the Fantastic Beasts films, much of the wizarding world we know and love from the big screen was brought to us by David Yates.
David Yates and Daniel Radcliffe on the set of “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 2”
Perhaps not surprisingly, Yates has no intention of getting involved with the TV series.
I could not, in any conceivable way, get involved… I spent a long time at that school, in those corridors and in those classrooms, and it was an exquisite experience and one I will always treasure. But to go back and do another year or two, for me, I feel I’ve left it.
Yates also spoke about the importance of protecting the young cast chosen for the TV series and how this will be much harder to do now than it was for the films because of social media.
Everyone will have a view and a perspective, and it seems to me, since we finished the [‘Potter’] films ten years ago, the public discourse and the people offering opinions about things has somehow become much more confrontational and aggressive…. That’s the only thing that I would be wary of, is to protect that group and help them through that process because there’ll be a lot of stuff coming at them, and they need to be protected.
He has wished the show well, stating it’s going to be “amazing” for the next generation to explore the wizarding world in a new way.
  Matthew Lewis
While attending a panel at MegaCon, Matt Lewis pondered whom he’d like to play in the Max series.
Gosh, I have no idea. It’s very difficult as well because everyone just did such a wonderful job.
Stating he was “too old” to play Neville again, he decided that based on his reading of the books, he enjoyed the character of Remus Lupin. Lewis then complimented David Thewlis’s portrayal of Lupin in the films, saying he “could never be beaten.”
  David Bradley
Speaking to RadioTimes.com, David Bradley (Argus Filch) joked that he hasn’t “had the call yet” to be in the TV show. He also gave his thoughts on how the series will allow more book content to be included because the films had to “sacrifice quite a lot of plot and characters.”
I’m assuming the reason they’re doing it is they’ll be able to include more of the story because they’ll have more screen time – a lot more than the films had. I’ll be interested.
  Toby Jones
A beloved fan favorite who, despite being CGI, will be hard to replace is Dobby the house-elf. When asked by TheWrap if he would voice the role of Dobby again, Toby Jones responded, “Of course I would. I’m very proud of that. Yeah, yeah, definitely.”
youtube
Which of the original Potter actors would you love to see in the TV reboot? The series is aiming for a 2026 premiere, and no casting has been announced yet.
In the meantime, keep an eye out for Part 2, where we’ll take a look at more cast members’ thoughts on the Harry Potter TV reboot.

The Bard at Hogwarts: William Shakespeare's Wizarding Profile
New Post has been published on https://bit.ly/3xQ26w7
The Bard at Hogwarts: William Shakespeare's Wizarding Profile
Tumblr media
Name: William Shakespeare
House: Ravenclaw
Wand: 12 inches, slightly longer to suit Shakespeare’s style for dramatic storytelling, ebony wood for self-confident wizards, with a phoenix feather core for transformative and resilient wizards.
Patronus: A swan, which is mythically connected to inspiration and creativity and strongly associated with arts in the Renaissance.
Background: Born to a wizarding family with a long lineage of magical practitioners, William Shakespeare grew up surrounded by the wonders of magic. On the banks of the Avon River, he showed exceptional talent from a young age and was accepted into Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.
Personality: Shakespeare was a curious and imaginative wizard, always seeking to expand his knowledge and explore the mysteries of magic. He had a quick wit and sharp tongue, often using his cleverness to outsmart opponents in magical duels. Despite his sometimes aloof demeanor, he was fiercely loyal to his friends and valued the power of words to inspire and enchant.
Extracurriculars:
Drama Club: William’s productions at Hogwarts were, well, magical. His passion for storytelling combined with his magical talents created stage performances that have gone down in history.
Wizarding History Society: Much of Shakespeare’s inspiration for future plays was pulled directly from his time at Hogwarts, specifically the WHS. Learning of famous historical Seers, such as Cassandra and Nostradamus, led to the iconic trio of witches and the infamous prophecies in Macbeth.
Gobstones Club: Though not a widely popular club at Hogwarts, Shakespeare cherished the camaraderie and competition among club members. The game gave him an opportunity to show off his clever tactics and unexpected moves, yet another way to express his creativity.
Specialties:
Divination: Though impossible to say whether or not he possessed the sight himself, Shakespeare’s love of prophecies appears threaded throughout his later works. Most famously, the witches in Macbeth, but omens and prophecies appear in Hamlet, Julius Caesar, Romeo and Juliet, and even The Merchant of Venice.
Transfiguration: He possessed a natural talent for Transfiguration, often delighting in transforming ordinary objects into extraordinary creations. Fans of his works can see him artistically transform ordinary objects into symbols.
Charms: Shakespeare was particularly adept at casting charms, effortlessly weaving spells to manipulate objects and enchant his surroundings.
Quirks: Shakespeare had a tendency to speak in poetic verse, even in casual conversation, and rarely strayed from iambic pentameter. He was known for his dramatic flair when casting spells or recounting tales of magical adventures. He could often be found lost in thought, scribbling ideas for new spells or wizarding tales in his enchanted notebook.

Six of the Top Ten Highest-Grossing Irish Actors Are from "Harry Potter"
New Post has been published on https://bit.ly/3xEJi2C
Six of the Top Ten Highest-Grossing Irish Actors Are from "Harry Potter"
Tumblr media
From Michael Gambon to Devon Murray, many Irish actors were featured in the Harry Potter films. A recent study conducted by CSGOLuck highlighted the top ten highest-grossing Irish actors ever, and Harry Potter actors secured six of those top ten spots, emphasizing just how powerful the eight Potter films were at the global box office.
A spokesperson from CSGOLuck commented on the reason for conducting the study and the impact Irish actors are making on world cinema.
As more and more Irish actors rise through Hollywood’s ranks, we were interested to know the Irish economic impact on the global box office. We were blown away to learn that the movies Irish actors have starred in have grossed more than £122 billion to date.
  Michael Gambon – #2
Sir Michael Gambon, an English-Irish actor, played Albus Dumbledore in six of the Harry Potter films. He ranked at number two in the top ten list, following actor Liam Neeson. As an original member of the Royal National Theatre, his long career included films such as Sleepy Hollow (1999), The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou (2004), and The King’s Speech (2010), but his role in six Harry Potter films was likely what pushed him so high up the list.
  Domhnall Gleeson – #3
Known for his role as Bill Weasley, Domhnall Gleeson made the list at number three. By joining the Potter series, he followed in the footsteps of his father, Brendan Gleeson, and the oldest Weasley brother appeared in both parts of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. After Harry Potter, he landed the role of General Hux in the Star Wars franchise, appearing in Episode VII: The Force Awakens (2015), Episode VIII: The Last Jedi (2017), and Episode IX: The Rise of Skywalker (2019), which seems to have helped push him above his father’s ranking on the list.
  Kenneth Branagh – #4
Sir Kenneth Branagh, an English-Irish actor, ranked at number four. Trained at London’s Royal Academy of Dramatic Art, and with much Shakespearean experience under his belt, Branagh played Gilderoy Lockhart in just one Potter film, Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets. However, his role as a Hogwarts professor helped lead him to other blockbuster film opportunities, including Avengers: Infinity War (2018) and Oppenheimer (2023).
  Devon Murray – #6
Best known for his role as Hogwarts student Seamus Finnigan, Devon Murray made the list at number six. His role in Gryffindor House was consistent throughout all eight Harry Potter films, landing him among the highest-grossing Irish actors despite his name being lesser known. Today, Murray actively participates in fan conventions and events with his fellow Harry Potter cast members.
  Brendan Gleeson – #7
Brendan Gleeson, who played Alastor “Mad-Eye” Moody in three Harry Potter films, ranked at number seven. In 2006, Gleeson was nominated for British Supporting Actor of the Year at the London Film Critics Circle Awards for his role in Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire. His other box office hits have included Mission: Impossible II (2000), A.I. Artificial Intelligence (2001), Edge of Tomorrow (2014), and Paddington 2 (2017).
  Ciarán Hinds – #8
Ciarán Hinds made the list at number eight. The Irish actor from Belfast played Aberforth Dumbledore in Harry Potter and The Deathly Hallows – Part 2. While his time in Harry Potter was short, his performance in the franchise and his role in the high-grossing animated films Frozen (2013) and Frozen II (2019) have contributed to his overall success at the box office.

"Potterversity" Episode 50: "Teaching, the Hogwarts Way"

"Potterversity" Episode 50: "Teaching, the Hogwarts Way"
Tumblr media
In the last of our episodes featuring contributors to our book, Potterversity: Essays Exploring the World of Harry Potter, take a look at two very different teachers: Albus Dumbledore and Dolores Umbridge.
Our guests are Dr. M’Balia Thomas (University of Kansas) and Dr. Brent Satterly (Widener University), whose chapters focus on Hogwarts professors. Both found ways to connect with students through Harry Potter and saw examples of what to do and what not to do as a teacher by looking at the Hogwarts faculty. They consider what it means to see teachers through the student perspective in the series but also get an inside look at certain teachers, such as Lupin and Snape, that show us their humanity and give us a sense of compassion toward educators we may forget to have.
In her chapter, “Dumbledorisms: The Idiosyncratic Style of a Hogwarts Headmaster,” M’Balia examines how Dumbledore’s tendency to speak in aphorisms gives the impression of wisdom but doesn’t necessarily connect with students. Brent shares his experience taking on Umbridge, who is the antithesis of him as a social worker, as a drag persona in “Hem Hem… I Take Umbridge with Bigotry: Using the Witch-in-Pink to Counter Oppression.”
While we don’t get the full story of all the interactions between students and teachers at Hogwarts, the wizarding world provides opportunities to think more deeply about the context of educational situations.

Seven Underrated Moments the TV Show Needs to Put on Screen
New Post has been published on https://bit.ly/3xdz60P
Seven Underrated Moments the TV Show Needs to Put on Screen
Here’s the thing about movies: they can only be so long… unless James Cameron directs them. There are over 4,000 pages in the Harry Potter series, and a lot of the contents of the books didn’t make it into the eight-film series. Fortunately, that’s where the TV show comes in: bringing these never-before-seen moments to life.
Some of them are obvious. Peeves. The Marauders. It’s been reported that each season will correspond to a book, so we’ll know exactly when we can expect the best moments to come up. The book series is so long and detailed, though, that some of those moments have been forgotten.
But, that doesn’t make it any less exciting that we’ll soon get to see them.
Season 1: Snape referees a quidditch match
In this one short sequence in Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone, we get multiple incredible moments.
  Source
First, Wood announces that Snape is refereeing, George falls off his broom, and the whole team goes crazy. Then, at the match itself, there’s more. Snape awards a penalty when George hits a bludger at him; Harry almost knocks Snape off his broom; Ron and Neville get into a brawl with Malfoy, Crabbe, and Goyle. Then there’s a moment of triumph as Harry makes one of the quickest catches anyone can remember…and then, to top it off, we get a scene that happened very differently in the movie, as Harry flies over the forest and lands in a tree to listen in on Snape and Quirrell’s conversation.
  Season 2: TIE — Lockhart’s Valentine’s Day celebration, de-gnoming the garden
Two wonderful sequences of comedy.
First off, the visual of hurling gnomes like frisbees over the fence sounds absolutely hilarious. “The air thick with flying gnomes” is a visual we need to see. Imagine a montage with “Chariots of Fire” playing while we focus on one flying gnome after another.
  Source
Then, we get Lockhart’s Valentine’s Day celebration. The highlight, of course, is when an annoyed dwarf comes up to Harry and sings, “His eyes are as green as a fresh pickled toad,” which, I mean, come on, there’s no excuse for not capturing that moment for posterity.
  Season 3: The Quidditch final
Quidditch is one thing that the original film series doesn’t do that well, and the TV show has a chance to fix it. We need an episode devoted almost entirely to the final itself. It’s an adrenaline-pumping moment of triumph, maybe the happiest Harry has ever been. It will also be a chance to capture better Quidditch on-screen, which should help give fans a better sense of how the game works (it’s very different than the movies make it look!).
  Source
Season 4: Wizarding hijinks at the Quidditch World Cup
We need to see Old Archie walking around in a nightgown refusing to put on men’s clothes; Mr. Weasley failing to start a fire for an hour; Mr. Roberts constantly being obliviated because wizards keep showing off. This will also be a perfect opportunity to showcase Ludo Bagman, who was excluded from the films entirely – and a great chance to show the ridiculously cool “omnioculars,” which should exist in real life.
  Source
  Season 5: Post-Weasley mayhem
We see the Weasley twins’ escape from Hogwarts in the film. What’s missing, though, is what happens next: basically, anarchy. Entire classes are taking Skiving Snackboxes; Professor McGonagall whispers to Peeves that a chandelier unscrews the other way; Lee Jordan starts levitating Nifflers into Umbridge’s office. Book Five is all about the power of dissent, so a scene like this, in which dissent completely undermines the power structure that Umbridge is trying to impose, basically captures the essence of the story. And it will be hilarious.
  Source
Season 6: Celestina Warbeck’s Christmas Special
This is a very niche moment, but one that’s incredibly funny. Mrs. Weasley sings along increasingly loudly; Mr. Weasley goes along with it while quietly apologizing for how bad it is; Fleur is openly disgusted by it, and later starts making an impression of Celestina, which is everyone’s cue to go to bed. J.K. Rowling’s skill at writing humor is one of the most underrated elements of the books, and the TV show has a chance to nail it.
  Source
Season 7: Trelawney fighting with crystal balls
This is a great moment of anarcho-awesomeness. We’re in the middle of a dark battle, when suddenly – BAM! It’s a slow-motion shot of Trelawney spinning a bunch of crystal balls with her wand, then firing them at the Death Eaters, knocking out every target as each missile finds its mark and explodes. In both the films and the books, Trelawney is a pretty annoying character, but in the books, she finds redemption in this scene. Here, the TV show has a chance to do it better than the books did. Give Trelawney her moment – and make it absolutely mind-blowing.

Taylor Swift to Write Song for "Harry Potter" TV Show

Taylor Swift to Write Song for "Harry Potter" TV Show
Tumblr media
Drop everything now and meet us… at Hogwarts? MuggleNet has learned that Taylor Swift is indeed collecting Horcruxes, and her next one will be none other than a featured song in the highly anticipated TV adaptation of the Harry Potter books.
Let’s go back to December. Fans of Taylor Swift are now left wondering, Was that quote really an Easter egg? “Which quote?” you might ask. It’s the one that left Potterhead Swifties on the edge of their seats in the 2023 Time’s Person of the Year article about Swift: “I’m collecting Horcruxes. I’m collecting Infinity Stones. Gandalf’s voice is in my head every time I put out a new one. For me, it’s like a movie now.”
As this is still an early report, Warner Bros. Television has yet to share the details of the upcoming track’s title or even the episode in which it will be featured. However, they did let slip that Swift will not only write and record one song for the TV show but has also joked about wanting to write what she referred to as “an ode to Mrs. Norris,” who is, in her opinion, the very understated hero of the books.
Based on Swift’s style we can expect this song will surely cause tears to ricochet, castles to crumble and us to say she really is the mastermind. Perhaps this song will be as emotionally wrenching and wistful as “Illicit Affairs,” “All Too Well,” and “The Lakes” – serving as the perfect accompaniment to moments such as Harry seeing his family in the Mirror of Erised or flipping through the photo album curated by Hagrid. Alternatively, this might be a joyful tune celebrating Gryffindor winning the House Cup.
While this news has really made sparks fly, Potterhead Swifties will need to wait until 2026 to hear what Swift has enchanted for us this time. That leaves us with one final question: Are you ready for it?

Wizarding World Expanded Universe Announced: "Harry Potter" TV Spin-Off Series Slate
New Post has been published on https://bit.ly/3TZtkJm
Wizarding World Expanded Universe Announced: "Harry Potter" TV Spin-Off Series Slate
Tumblr media
Warner Bros. Discovery announced today that in addition to the Max television adaptation of the Harry Potter novels, an entire slate of Wizarding World spin-offs is on the way. Delving into various aspects of the magical universe in a variety of formats and styles, content is to be produced and released over the next several decades.
That Marauders story everyone has been hankering for? Consider it green-lit. A Harry Potter and the Cursed Child screen adaptation? It’s coming. Hogwarts founders? You got it. These are just some of the projects Warner Bros. has confirmed are now in development, in addition to stories set at each of the wizarding schools around the world, in the years after Voldemort’s defeat, and at the Ministry of Magic. A Voldemort origin story, a Ted Lasso-esque Quidditch comedy, and Diagon Alley-based sitcom are all on the table as well, with content aimed at adults, teens, and children.
Following in the footsteps of franchises like Star Wars and the Marvel Cinematic Universe, the Wizarding World will also receive an alternate universe What If? series. Might we see Neville as the Chosen One, Harry in Slytherin, and perhaps even Dramione?
Renowned creators have already signed on to be part of the expansive universe. An animated series from Studio Ghibli, helmed by none other than Hayao Miyazaki, is on the way. Wes Anderson is expected to apply his signature whimsy to a series. We can only wonder what story will receive the mind-bending treatment from M. Night Shyamalan.
While some stories will be about new characters, those focused on existing ones will struggle to replace the actors we’ve come to know and love, who may or may not want to reprise their past roles. Reports from Warner Bros. indicate that the company owns many of the actors’ likenesses and may be able use them in perpetuity through artificial intelligence.
“We all know what the true magic of Harry Potter is: profit,” said a Warner Bros. insider. “Other than eleven films, four theme parks, two studio tours, numerous exhibitions, games, and an ever-expanding selection of merchandise, we really have barely tapped into the money tree that is Potter. You can never have too much of a good thing. This story will live on long after any of us, which is why we’re ensuring that content will continue to be made well into the 2060s.”
It sounds like no stone will be left unturned in the magical world. Are you excited? What stories and styles are you hoping to see explored? Will Harry Potter ever be too big?

Harry Potter's Grief in the Books versus the Films
New Post has been published on https://bit.ly/3IZQGbq
Harry Potter's Grief in the Books versus the Films
Tumblr media
Grief is a central theme throughout the Harry Potter series, resonating deeply with readers and viewers alike. However, the portrayal and representation of grief differs significantly between the books and films, offering unique perspectives on the emotional journey of the titular character. In the books, readers are able to delve into the depths of grief with raw honesty and emotional complexity. From the beginning of Harry’s story, his life is wrought with grief, which is depicted as a visceral experience that consumes him, leaving Harry grappling with overwhelming pain and anguish.
A scene in the novel which so drastically depicts this poignant theme is the moment shared between Harry and Dumbledore after the death of his godfather, Sirius Black. Harry, wracked with guilt and sadness, looks for solace from Albus Dumbledore, who says, “Harry, suffering like this proves you are still a man! This pain is part of being human -” (OOTP 824). Harry screams his response: “THEN – I – DON’T – WANT – TO – BE – HUMAN!” before throwing a “delicate silver instrument” across the room (OOTP 824). Harry, still in a fit of fury, continues, “I’VE HAD ENOUGH, I’VE SEEN ENOUGH, I WANT OUT, I WANT IT TO END, I DON’T CARE ANYMORE -” (OOTP 824). Harry’s rage masks his grief, but both emotions are so palpable that readers can feel the weight of them. The weight is hammered in further when Dumbledore calmly replies, “You care so much you feel as though you will bleed to death with the pain of it” (OOTP 824).
In addition to these intense moments of grief, the books also capture Harry’s internal struggle with his emotions in quieter scenes. One such scene finds Harry wandering around Hogwarts, torn between seeking solace in the company of his friends and retreating into solitude to process his grief. In this moment of uncertainty, he encounters Nearly Headless Nick, the Gryffindor House ghost, and asks “‘People can come back, right? As ghosts […] Sirius won’t care if it’s unusual, he’ll come back, I know he will!’ And so strong was his belief that Harry actually turned his head to check the door, sure, for a split second, that he was going to see Sirius, pearly white and transparent but beaming, walking through it toward him” (OOTP 861). Harry’s belief that Sirius would return as a ghost, despite Nearly Headless Nick’s denial about the possibility, shows his desperate desire for his loved ones to still be present in some form.
Omitting Harry Potter’s tangible grief from the films does a profound disservice to both the characters and the viewers, especially those who have experienced various levels of grief themselves. Harry’s grief serves as a cornerstone of his character development. Moments like this raw breakdown in Dumbledore’s office offer crucial insights into his inner turmoil. With these scenes left out, the complexity of Harry’s character is diminished, and viewers, especially those who have grappled with grief, are deprived of the opportunity to witness their experiences reflected in Harry’s journey.
Moreover, neglecting to delve into Harry’s grief undermines the series’s overarching themes of loss and resilience. The films missed an opportunity to authentically portray the human experience of navigating profound sorrow, instead filling the later films with invented moments of action and violence. As a television series is filmed and edited, how many fans would prefer to see these book moments included over scenes fabricated for TV audience enjoyment?

Sorting “Percy Jackson and the Olympians” Characters into Hogwarts Houses
New Post has been published on https://bit.ly/3xf8RY0
Sorting “Percy Jackson and the Olympians” Characters into Hogwarts Houses
Besides the Harry Potter series, the Percy Jackson & the Olympians books, written by Rick Riordan, were another fascinating fantasy series we enjoyed reading. Since the recent Percy Jackson and the Olympians TV adaption has wrapped its first season on Disney+, we thought it would be a good idea to sort the various characters into their respective Hogwarts House.
  Percy Jackson – Gryffindor
Tumblr media
  Source
Like Harry, Percy is brave to the core, selfless, and constantly willing to sacrifice himself to save his friends. He did so when he was willing to sacrifice himself so Annabeth could get Aries’s shield, and when he was willing to stay in the Underworld if it meant that his friends and mother could get back up and be alright. These honorable acts make him a Gryffindor.
  Annabeth Chase – Ravenclaw
Tumblr media
  Source
As the child of Athena, the Goddess of Wisdom, she is genetically predisposed to have intelligent characteristics. She has demonstrated that intellect in the first season from her tactical strategy in capturing the flag to working out Hephaestus’s tricks in the carnival, and proved herself as a Ravenclaw.
  Grover Underwood – Hufflepuff
Tumblr media
  Source
Grover is a Hufflepuff true and true. He is fiercely loyal to his friends, even disclosing to Percy that his mother is still alive even though both Chiron and Mr. D advised him not to. He is also incredibly selfless and willing to risk himself for the quest, even if that means sitting and attempting to get the God of War on their cause.
  Sally Jackson – Gryffindor
Tumblr media
  Source
Raising the demi-god son of Poseidon must have been difficult, but Sally rose to the occasion and raised a great one. Over the years, she constantly put herself and her needs behind those of her sons and faced the extraordinary challenges that came with Percy being part-god head-on. Despite her lack of powers, she still put herself in front of a Minotaur to protect her son and get him to the safety of Camp Half-Blood. This bravery makes her a Gryffindor.
  Luke Castellan – Slytherin
Tumblr media
  Source
Luke initially presented himself as Percy’s friend and was initially helpful by giving him Hermes’s shoes. However, this was all part of his plan as he used his resourcefulness and cleverness to manipulate and betray Percy into giving the master lighting bolt to Kronos and starting a war between the Gods. The fact that he is willing to deceive people makes him a Slytherin.
  Ares – Slytherin
  Source
Although initially helpful to Percy and his friends, his motives were incredibly duplicitous when it was revealed that he was manipulating the situation to start a war between the gods.
  Poseidon – Gryffindor
Tumblr media
  Source
He isn’t much of a character for the majority of Percy’s life, but he plays a pivotal role in the final episode of the season when he saves Percy from Zeus and offers his surrender. This brave action is a Gryffindor trait.
What do you think of our list? Do you agree with our sorting? Let us know in the comments.

For the first time since their 2022 commemorative coin collection, celebrating the 25th anniversary of Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone, a new collection of 50p coins is now available for purchase.

We have taken some of the most iconic moments from his magical adventures and immortalised them on a collection of 50p coins – starting with the winged keys. 🗝️

— The Royal Mint (@RoyalMintUK) March 21, 2024
Like the previous, this newest release is inspired by the first installment of the Harry Potter book series. The 2024 commemorative collection, titled “The Winged Keys,” depicts that heart-pounding scene where Harry, Ron, and Hermione must take on Professor Flitwick’s contribution to protecting the Sorcerer’s Stone. Immortalized in metal, the coins show a broomstick-supported Harry reaching out to grasp one of the enchanted flying keys, his Seeker skills, not for the last time, paying off nicely. The obverse of the coins features an effigy of His Majesty King Charles III.
The Royal Mint produced the collection in partnership with Warner Bros. Discovery Global Consumer Products, with product designer Bella Biggs responsible for remastering the illustration. The coins come in a variety of metals and thus range from £12.00 for Brilliant Uncirculated to £1,220.00 for Gold Proof. A £21.00 option features the stylized illustration brought to life in color.
There’s never been a better reason to start a coin collection. Will you be making a magical purchase from the Royal Mint?

Magical Murals Appear at Epic Universe
New Post has been published on https://bit.ly/3xnwfSY
Magical Murals Appear at Epic Universe
Epic Universe is set to open in 2025, meaning that construction for the new park at Universal Orlando Resort is well underway. Updates are few and far between, but we’ve got some new murals popping up around the park and new concept art of the park’s map to share with you!
Our first new photo is of the portal-style entrance to the park’s Ministry of Magic segment. We first saw a rendering of the proposed entranceway back in January, but we can now see it coming to life. The main architecture of the portal is complete, and a hand holding the Elder Wand has already been erected on a tower high above it.
In foreground of this aerial is a restaurant near the Epic Universe show fountain. At top is the portal to the Wizarding World of Harry Potter – Ministry of Magic. pic.twitter.com/zPT2VXjro7

The aerial photos also give us an idea of the building styles we can expect at the new park. We knew the park would take inspiration from 1920s Parisian designs and architecture, with elements of the iconic British Ministry of Magic. Scaffolding around some buildings has been taken down, so we can now finally see what that looks like in reality. We’ve also got some pictures of other buildings, including a Port-Sainte Denis and a street corner with a detailed, stone entrance.

The most exciting update so far, however, is the appearance of our first magical creature. After the removal of scaffolding around other buildings in the park, keen eyes spotted a beastly mural. There’s no confirmation of the species of the creature, but we’re theorizing that it could be a griffin. Check out this photo of the artwork and let us know your ideas in the comments below.

The new Wizarding World-themed park isn’t the only section in Epic Universe. There are also sections themed around the How to Train Your Dragon?, Nintendo’s Mario games, and Universal’s monsters. With new concept art, we can see how these segments will come together for an overall map of Epic Universe.
  Source: Universal
That’s all of the photos we have from the park recently, but we’re starting to build a stronger picture of what the park will look like when it finally opens in 2025, and with more and more scaffolding coming down, we should have even more details soon. Are you planning on going to Universal Orlando Resort to visit Epic Universe?

Nine Different Trios In Harry Potter
New Post has been published on https://bit.ly/3IXFhJb
Nine Different Trios In Harry Potter
As far as the strange connection of numbers with Potterverse arises, number seven already has it all covered. From the number of Weasley siblings to the count of horcruxes, seven leads the way. However, the numerical links do not stop at seven only. In addition to this, another number makes its appearance often in the PotterEra. The number rhymes with Diggory and comes after two, and before four, it’s called the trinity or three.
  The Golden Trio
Our beloved bunch of people from the series are Ron, Harry, and Hermoine. They are warmly known as The Golden Trio around the fandom. The companionship of the trio builds in the first book and is a prolific reason to keep reading the books. The importance of the trio in the series is signified in the name because it is bejeweled and gilded.
  The Slytherin Trio
Another trio that pops into the mind as we speak of the trios in Harry Potter is the Slytherin Trio. Draco Malfoy acted as the leader of the trio and Vincent Crabbe and Gregory Goyle were his apprentices. They filled the roles of rivals of The Golden Trio from the very beginning. They were also used to mediate Salazar Slytherin’s characteristic hatred for muggle-borns.
  The Comedic Trio
Known as the funny ones in the series are the twins and their best friend Lee Jordan. Their humor and pranks lighten the mood throughout the entire series. Fred and George’s wittiness and Lee’s one-liners still make us laugh aloud. Lee later found a pirate rebellious radio program called Potterwatch in which Fred and Lee appeared under codenames.
  The Wand Cores
One more thing that is diverged into three categories is the substances that are placed along the length of the wand, awarding unique and characteristic qualities to it. The wand cores, as used and explained by the expert Garrick Ollivander himself, are Dragon heartstrings, Unicorn hair, and Phoenix feathers. These individualistic and powerful materials indeed make a wand distinctive and different.
  The Unforgivable Curses
Another thing that is in the set of three are the incantations so ominous and heinous that the use of any would mean Azkaban. Imperius curse is exercised to yield entire control over someone. Cruciatus curse, or Bellatrix Lestrange’s favorite curse, is operated to brutally torture someone. The infamous Avada Kedavra is the incantation of the killing curse that Harry is the only one known to survive.
  The Triwizard Tournament
In the fourth book of the series, an inter-school tournament is introduced in which three schools participate. The goblet of fire chooses a champion from Hogwarts, Beauxbatons, and Durmstrang Institute each who further competes in the contest to win. Then these three champions combat each other in three tasks to win the Triwizard Cup.
  Three Turns Should Do It
In Harry Potter and The Prisoner of Azkaban, Hermoine, and Harry use the Time Turner to save Sirius Black from the attack of dementors and Buckbeak with the aid of Dumbledore’s enigmatic words. Albus Dumbledore hints towards the Time Turner to Hermoine saying, “ Miss Granger, Three turns should do it. Good luck.”
  Three Broomsticks Inn
The warmest place across the Hogsmeade and also the house of Butterbeer and Firewhiskey carries the number three in its title. Therefore, Madam Rosemerta’s Inn has the atmosphere of the perfect place to try a cherry syrup soda with an umbrella.
  Tale of Three Brothers
A wizarding fairy tale of three brothers deceiving Death on a Twilight plays a very crucial part in the Harry Potter series. Death pretentiously congratulates the three brothers and awards each of them a gift they wish for. Consequently, the three gifts mentioned in the story are known as The Deathly Hallows. Thus, the Elder Wand, Resurrection Stone, and The Invisibility Cloak are the most remarkable magical objects, and the one who possesses all three is believed to be the master of death.
What are your thoughts about this list? Besides the ones listed above, do you know more Trios in the series? Let us know in the comments.

All Things Alliterated in Harry Potter
New Post has been published on https://bit.ly/3PzSJGE
All Things Alliterated in Harry Potter
While reading or watching the Harry Potter series, you might have experienced that certain names or titles are so melodious and sonorous. That is because the texts of Harry Potter use a literary device called alliteration. The repetition of sounds and letters in words is known as alliteration. These similar phonetic sounds decorate the sentences and amplify the reader’s experience. An easy example of alliteration is ‘Seven sisters’, the sound of ‘S’ is repeated here. Many names in the Harry Potter universe have this form of alliteration. Let’s start an interesting game and count all the names of characters or places that are alliterated.
First, let’s begin with the names of characters in the lore of Wizarding World that contain the same sounds.
  The Four Founders
Like the title, The Four Founders of Hogwarts have names that are so articulated and easy to say. The names, ‘Godric Gryffindor’, ‘Helga Hufflepuff’, ‘Salazar Slytherin’ and ‘Rowena Ravenclaw’ have the same alphabet in the first and last name which adds an effect to the overall reading experience.
  Hogwarts Teachers
Various professors at Hogwarts also have a phonetic name. ‘Minerva McGonagall’, ‘Filius Flitwick’, ‘Severus Snape’, ‘Poppy Pomfrey ‘, and ‘Quirinus Quirrell’ all harbor the same pattern of repetition.
  Hogwarts Students
Now the students of the school who have this structure in their names are ‘Cho Chang’, and ‘Colin Creevey’. ‘Gregory Goyle’, ‘Luna Lovegood’, ‘Pansy Parkinson’, ‘Padma Patil’, ‘Parvati Patil’.
  Hogwarts Ghosts
The titles of many misty ghosts of Hogwarts are also similar to the above. Slytherin’s ‘The Bloody Baron’, Hufflepuff’s ‘The Fat Friar’, Gryffindor’s ‘Nearly Headless Nick’, ‘Moaning Myrtle’, and ‘Peeves the Poltergeist’ carry similar consonant chimes.
  Other Wizards and Witches
‘Bathilda Bagshot’, ‘Dedalus Diggle’, ‘Gellert Grindelwald’, ‘and Peter Pettigrew’ are some other names that are similarly woven.
  Muggles
Harry’s cousin ‘Dudley Dursley’ and Nymphedora Tonks’s father ‘Ted Tonks’ are some other examples.
Finished with the characters, now we are onto other things in the Wizarding World that are titled like them.
  Spells
All incantations used in the world of witchcraft are mellow and mellifluous and some of the spells contain the sounds which are repeated. The spells such as ‘Vera Verto’ used to transform an animal into a goblet and ‘waddiwasi’ used to propel an object are both articulated. The ‘Bat Bogey Hex’ transforms the target bogeys into bats that fly out of their nose is also phonetic. The chant ‘Peskipiksi Pesternomi’ used by Gilderoy Lockhart when he tried capturing cornish pixies is alliterated with both ‘P’ and ‘S’.
  Places
There are tons of magical locations in the Wizarding World that have a poetic and resonant title. From ‘Malfoy Manor’ to ‘The Ministry of Magic’, there are various sites that are adorned with titles like these. Diagon Alley’s streets are crowded with shops that have aesthetic titles such as ‘Florean Frotescue’s Ice cream parlor’, ‘Eeylops Owl Emporium’. Additionally, a magical pet shop ‘Magical Menagerie’, cloaks and robes shop ‘Madam Malkin’s Robes’ are another bunch of examples. Fred and George’s popular joke shop ‘Weasleys’ Wizard Wheezes’ is another one. Some others are Knockturn Alley’s antique shop ‘Borgin and Burkes’ and Hogsmeade’s ‘Shrieking Shack’ and ‘Hogs Head’. There are some places in Hogwarts such as ‘The Room of Requirement’, ‘Forbidden Forest’ and ‘Hagrid’s Hut’ which are as fluently vibrant in their names as their ambiance.
  Magical Things
There are various bewitched and magical things and objects in the Harry Potter universe that are named using alliteration such as Hermoine’s ‘Time Turner’ and the magical map of Hogwarts ‘Marauders’ Map’. Prank objects created by Fred and George Weasley such as ‘Weasleys Wild-fire Whiz-Bangs’, ‘Skiving Snackboxes’, ‘Headless Hat’, ‘Ton-Tongue Toffees’, ‘Extendable Ears’, ‘Pygmy Puffs’ are some other example
  Phrases and Idioms
The idiom ‘Galloping Gargoyles’ or ‘Gulping Gallons’ is used to express shock. The infamous and popular tongue twister ‘Babbling Bumbling Band of Baboons’ by Professor McGonagall is heavily alliterated. The phrase used to close off the Marauders Map ‘Mischief Managed’ is highly melodious as well.
Have we missed any titles that contain alliterations in the Harry Potter Universe? Let us know in the comment section below!

Addressing Urgent Reforms in the Wizarding World: A Focus on Goblins and Beyond
New Post has been published on https://bit.ly/43xoGoY
Addressing Urgent Reforms in the Wizarding World: A Focus on Goblins and Beyond
Tumblr media
In the enchanting world of Harry Potter, a diverse array of magical beings coexist alongside witches and wizards, each contributing to the intricate fabric of wizarding society. Yet, beneath the surface, certain groups face marginalization, prompting a need for comprehensive rights reform. Within this article, we shall shed light on the necessity for such reforms, particularly concerning goblins, and extend its focus to broader issues, including prison reform, the treatment of squibs, and the justice system.
  Goblin Rights:
Goblins, renowned for their proficiency in metalwork and banking, play a crucial role in the wizarding economy. However, their rights have long been a contentious issue. A practical rights reform should address concerns such as fair wages, equal job opportunities, and representation within magical governing bodies. Recognizing the invaluable contributions of the goblin community is essential, demanding the respect they rightly deserve.
  Prison Reform:
The wizarding world’s prison system, notably Azkaban, has faced scrutiny for its inhumane conditions and lack of due process. A rights reform must prioritize a rehabilitative approach, ensuring prisoners are treated with dignity and provided opportunities for education and personal growth. Reevaluating the use of Dementors as guards is pivotal for establishing a more just and humane system.
  Squibs and Inclusivity:
The treatment of squibs, individuals born into magical families without magical abilities, requires immediate attention. A rights reform should strive to eliminate discrimination against squibs, fostering inclusivity within the magical community. Implementing specialized education programs and expanding employment opportunities can empower squibs to lead fulfilling lives without facing social ostracization.
  Justice System:
While the current justice system is effective, reforms that prioritize fairness and transparency can enhance its efficacy. Establishing independent bodies to investigate magical crimes, ensuring representation for all accused individuals, and reassessing the application of certain magical punishments are vital steps toward a more just and equitable system.
Navigating the magical world of Harry Potter uncovers the urgency for rights reform to address persistent disparities and injustices. Advocating for the rights of goblins, implementing prison reform, embracing inclusivity for squibs, and refining the justice system collectively contribute to building a more equitable and harmonious magical society. Let us unite in our efforts to ensure that every being in the wizarding world is treated with the respect and dignity they rightfully deserve.
