i wish superpowers were real because then you'd get people making posts like "some people need to get real hobbies and stop making identical illusionary clones of themselves that your fist passes through like smoke when you go to punch them :/" and know exactly who the OP was talking about

"Laughter distances us from that which is ugly and therefore potentially distressing, and indeed enables us to obtain paradoxical pleasure and therapeutic benefit from it.” Miguel de Cervantes

Oh, what I wouldn't give to escape reality for a night. To throw a party in the woods on a full moon, everybody dressed as creatures; faeries, nymphs, ghosts, windigos, a circus of everybody being their true selves. No judgement, no holding back, just dancing by a fire while the warm summer breeze blows. A moment straight out of a fairytale.

roommate was listening to a church sermon or something the other day and I walked through and caught some of it and this is the shit I overheard
they were talking about “the importance of laughter” and its significance as a loss of control, sometimes a total loss of control of the self, but in a safe way, and how necessary and healing it is and I’m like aaaaaAHHHHHHHH

Have you ever met someone who, when being around them, makes you feel like one of your favorite phenomenons?
Like someone who makes you feel the way a really good belly laugh does. The kind of belly laugh that makes you breathless. The kind that will bring tears to your eyes and will make your whole body shake. And then right when you think you’re done, you’ll accidentally look at whoever you’re with and it’ll start all over again. Its the feeling of uncontrollable joy. And then there’s the affection you feel towards the ones who caused it immediately after. That’s the feeling. If you ever have the privilege of meeting someone who makes you feel like that, never let them go. Because if you do, you will spend your whole life searching for that feeing again.

There is always something so satisfying about that moment when you make someone laugh genuinely, the kind of laugh that only comes out every once in a while. The kind of laugh where their eyes widen a little beforehand and their lips tug up into that wobbly, barely contained smile. The kind of laugh where their whole body shakes with the force of it and they’re gasping for air. The kind of laugh that explodes out of them in wave after wave of pure, uncontained joy. The kind of laugh that is all at once helpless and infectious and before you know it, you’re laughing too.
There’s something so pure and beautiful about that laugh, and it makes me unbelievably happy whenever I am the cause of it.

Life is a huge farce, and the advantage of possessing a sense of humour is that it enables one to defy fate with mocking laughter.
