“It isn’t easy for me either.”
Her voice, low and steady, the voice that had once led him back from hell.
“Even now, a boy will smile at me on the street, orJesper will put his arm around my waist, and I feel like I’m going to vanish.”
VARIATIONS UNDER NATURE is an upcoming futuristic, magical cyberpunk dystopia set in 2179 New York City.
Magic is real. Magi and humans live together in an integrated society, battling political unrest and an always present climate crisis, which they have only barely managed to control. After a war that spanned three decades, society is once more getting its bearings. But there is dissent bubbling under the surface, with extremist groups wanting to change the status quo, an unhappy wastelands population just outside the city, and separatist movements, threatening to tear the nation apart. Whether you are mage or human, the only way to survive is to survive together.

“You know, I’m Nepalese. I was born in a village with barely any people. My story is so rare, I shouldn’t even be here. We lived in a clay house. We grew our own food, no tractors, no motorbikes, you know, no electricity, nothing. So, the fact that I’m here doing what I love worldwide and sharing it with so many people, sometimes even I have to pinch myself and think: is this really, really happening? So, baby me, I think she would think this was the dream. And she wouldn’t quite believe it. But at the same time, this was always my dream from the very beginning. I remember seeing a TV for the first time, maybe when I was like, three or four, in the village. And it was just this tiny thingy, and it took us ages to find some sort of electricity to get it running. It was in that moment, I felt inspired. I knew that that was my goal.”

what is your favourite witchy trope?: Give me all the covens. People binding together to be stronger as a group. BUT ALSO the power-corrupts one with no remorse and just being “fuck it, lets go to the dark side” embracing. People doing dumb shit and ended up having to fix it.
what is your favourite weather phenomenon?: Snow, but like those fat, fluffy, giant flakes, when the world is all white and quiet, and it just falls down and stays there. Piling up and then it’s just so lovely.
what kind of plots do you like to write?: lately I’ve been digging the found family plots, and people who get stuff done mostly out of spite and a desire to see the look of surprise on their rival’s face. Plantonic buds blowing stuff up (metaphorically and literally). Friends-to-lovers. Surprise romance (I know, I know, but I’m weak for it, ok).
tell us a fun fact about yourself: I used to dive, as in scuba dive! (a few might know this already), and I might do it again. Hopefully. Refresher class neeed.
