hey friends (& new friends) I decided to do a “re-introduction” since i’ve had this blog for a while and there are lots of new people (& i’ve changed a lot).

about me :

• I am currently a senior in high school & i’m 17 years old

• My name is callie but some of my friends started calling me cal and it kind of stuck

• I love the beach and going on walks ,,,, love love love fresh air & when it rains !! (walking in the rain is the best)

• sunsets are definitely one of my favorite things (literally make me cry sometimes)

• I love iced coffee and really enjoy making it at home

• I’m learning to like reading again (i used to read huge books all of the time in elementary school and i kind of got burnt out by middle school)

• I used to play soccer but I decided not to this year since I won’t have much time

• I like photography, painting , drawing and just making things (love making friendship bracelets)

• I also like doing my makeup sometimes bc I think it’s really fun

Education:

• i’m currently a senior in high school and i’m currently applying for college!!!

• for college I want to stay in Florida since I am working towards the bright futures scholarship

• In college I want to major in Sports Management/ business

• I am in the cambridge program right now and am working towards receiving my AICE diploma !!

wholesome student life things that we should collectively start romancizing

waking up and being genuinely thrilled to go to class because today is THAT CLASS you love so much you’d like it to never end

coffee breaks with friends, chatting and joking about this particularly hard essay and the prof’s mannerism

coffee breaks on your own, as you absent-mindedly watch the people around you, while thinking about what you’re working on

finding this book you’ve been dying to read for so long, and borrowing it from the library

the feeling of excitement that goes through you whenever you remember The Book is in your backpack

understanding everything during demanding classes and being genuinely interested in the subject

buying a New Special Pen and taking colorful notes that look super pretty

not being able to shut up about your school projects (no your friends dont really care about the intricate details of what you’re working on, they don’t even have the same major as you, but they’re happy to hear you rant with such a burning passion)

actually doing the extra reading and having your curiosity so piqued by what you’re reading that you go on and on and suddenly its 1am and what happened

printing the project you’ve spent so much time and energy on and feeling the paper’s warmth

actually submitting that project without feeling awful about it because you know you did your best and aren’t responsible for what happens next

when you finally finish this Super Hard And Important Essay at like 3am, open the window and feel the cold night air on your burning cheeks and everything is dark and quiet and you can see the moon and you’re at peace with everything for a few minutes

when this professor you admire says you did a great job and/or that you’re talented!!!!

realizing two concepts that seemed so far away from each other and that you discovered in wildly different contexts are actually interlinked, then Realizing™ things and linking concepts/works/articles to each other at the speed of light & being super excited about it

being so deeply immersed in your work that you didn’t realize two hours have passed

finding the Perfect Spot at the library

that Pure Joy moment when you FINALLY understand that super obscure sentence/text

when you feel anxious because you’re not done with your homework & the deadline is super tight & your friend tells you they aren’t done yet either

same but with an even more intense relief feeling when you realize you both haven’t even started yet

when the professor starts a new reasoning and you can predict what the next idea/the final conclusion will be

when the professor mention your favorite novel/author/fictional character in class and you feel like your internal screech of joy could shatter glass

the Academic Salt™ that has you like 👀👀

when the professor tears apart an author or scholar you hate and you’re like YES I WANT BLOOD GIVE ME BLOOD

when you learn that Cool New Fact that makes you reconsider your whole life

leaving the library after a long productive day and feeling like nothing is real but experiencing everything more intensely

leaving the library at night after a long study session and everybody has left already and its just you and the long neon-lit corridors then stepping outside and smelling the crisp night wind

So I know I’ve been gone for awhile, but I’m back and here to say that I submitted my first college application today!!! I’m super happy it’s done, and I’m really happy with how it turned out. My next deadline is the end of November, and I’ll hear back about this one in the middle of December. Anyway, I’m going to try and post regularly on here again.

I’m back!!! Sorry for the unexpected week long break. Last week was the end of the quarter, so all my teachers tried to get as many things in the grade book as possible. I had 3 tests, 2 quizzes, and 2 pieces of writing. I was so worn out from my work that I didn’t have the energy to post here. But I’m back now!

More physics today! I had the quiz which went alright, and then some notes on the forces involved in circular motion. I don’t have any class tomorrow, which is a really nice break! However, I do have 2 tests on Monday that I need to study for, so I’ll definitely be taking advantage of my long weekend for that.

I color code my lessons, so that lessons highlighter or brush pen, my mechanical pencil, a black pen, and an eraser. The other things I use are not strictly necessary but they bring joy.

October 14th 2020

So much physics!!! I had a really long physics homework assignment as well as a quiz on forces tomorrow to study for, but luckily I was able to knock out all of the homework, which helped me prepare for the quiz. I also had a statistics quiz today, and I think it went okay. I hadn’t seen anything like one of the problems before, but hopefully that won’t my grade too much (plus I can drop the lowest quiz score of the semester). And, my parents went and got cookies from a place that’s kinda far but has the best cookies, so I’m really excited about that!

Day 14 - What are some of your study essentials?

I think some of my study essentials would be a pencil, scratch paper (if I’m doing problems), my computer, and my graphing calculator. I also like to listen to music if I’m just working on problems!

Your math looks mostly correct except for a few places, sin(0) and sin(pi) = 0 while cos(0) and cos(pi) = 1, -1. I think you write the opposite on questions 7 and 11 but there may be more

Thanks for letting me know! I hadn’t checked it yet, cause it’s not due until tomorrow, but now I know what to look for when I do. I’ve never been great at trig values, so I definitely need to work on that before the test.

Today was pretty good! I had a lot of math to do, between multivariable and physics classes, and my statistics quiz tomorrow. Above is my multivariable homework, where we were converting between different 3D coordinate systems. I also had two college visits through my school. One went really well because it was just me and the admissions rep talking, but the other had a bunch of people and I don’t love that school.

Day 13 - Do you have an ‘aesthetic’? If yes, what is it?

I don’t have one defined aesthetic. I really like vintage things (especially early 20th century), but beyond my handwriting, I’m pretty basic and all over the place. But in the future, I’d love to have a stricter aesthetic!

How to make a widget with your schedule on IOS 14

A couple days ago, I posted a picture of my new homescreens. On my school homescreen, one of the widgets was a picture of schedule. @smilestudy asked me how I did this, so I thought I’d make a tutorial!

First off, if your schedule is in your calendar app (which mine isn’t because I’m not that organized) then you can directly make a widget for the calendar app which will display your schedule as it appears in that. However, if you don’t have that or would rather have it in a different format, then this tutorial will teach you how to do that.

To begin, you’re going to need to do a couple things. Your schedule needs to be saved as a photo in your camera roll, so get that there however you can (importing it, screenshotting it, etc). You’re also going to need to download an app that will allow you to make custom widgets. I use Widgetsmith (and will be referring to in this tutorial), but there are other options.

In widgetsmith, add a new widget of whatever size you want. If you’re not sure which size you want, you can make one in each size and decide later because it’s really easy! Go to edit your new widget, and choose photo under style. Then, go to choose photo and pick the image of your schedule you saved earlier. Exit, rename the widget (if you want), and save this widget.

Go back to the Home Screen you want to add this on. Go into edit mode, and tap the plus in the top left corner. Scroll or use the search function to find widgetsmith, and add a widget in the size that you just created. You should now have a widget on that screen!

If the widget isn’t displaying your schedule, tap on the widget (while still in edit mode) and choose the name of the widget you just made with your schedule (this is why naming it helps). Once you go back to the homescreen, it should now show your schedule.

You now have a widget with your schedule that you can put wherever you want! I hope this helps, and let me know if you have any more questions!
