Okay so who decided that Chinese coins were items of value—like people from Java, Bali, to the Pacific Fucking Northwest all used Chinese coinage in various arts and crafts; with both even utilizing it in their spiritual traditions.

Especially in Indonesia, I can attest that in times of old, Chinese coins were seen as "spritual" and I really think about it to this day. Funny how people come up with similar conclusions when faced with Chinese coinage.

Since summer school ended, I'm gonna make longer posts like this rehashing what I've learned.

Cree Dialect Continuum Map

Or more accurately, the Cree-Naskapi-Montagnais dialect continuum map

A dialect continuum is considered a chain of languages with "blurry" borders of legibility, where the "rough" areas of languages aren't clear, and as such are grouped together as a continuum--forming a "chain" of speakers that can understand adjacent speakers, but often not speakers of the "dialect" opposite of them. An example is how an Eastern Montagnais speaker might be able to understand adjacent languages clearly, but not Plains Cree (and vice versa). The variability of languages is often concentrated near the urheimat or "point of origin" before a common ancestor language split.

To add, North America has a few dialect continuums of other families that are often legally at least considered as "languages" (such as Inuktitut or the various Dene clusters of the (Sub-)Arctic).

Yupik (an Inuyunangan language), as far as I know are several distinct languages but lumped into one language by the US government census; I don't think they'd count here.

Note that these boundaries shown on the map are often based around communities and nations, and may not be representative of the exact placement or variation of the dialects; as I've said, things get really blurry.
