“if no art makes you feel anything, make your own art and feel something” is too raw of a line to have come from a jenna marbles video of her painting a rainbow/polka dot seahorse saying “it’s seahorse time” on a denim jacket

Chen Chen, from “Craft Capsule: On Becoming a Pop Star, I Mean, a Poet”
[text ID: For years I believed poetry was the only place where I could be all my selves, any self. I wrote, trying to answer the question, “How can a poem hold the myriad me’s and realms and loves and ferocities and shards and velocities—this whole multiverse that the life cannot, yet?” But can a poem do this? A book of poems? Is poetry a place?
I am a poet because I ask poetry to do too much, and then it does it.]

Love to faults is always blind, always is to joy inclined. Lawless, winged, and unconfined, and breaks all chains from every mind.

Do you ever wonder how much you exist in other people’s lives? I’m always curious if people think of me when a certain song comes on, or when they pass through a certain town. I wonder how many stories I’ve been a part of that I may have forgotten. I wonder if I still I exist in the minds of people that I don’t speak to anymore. I wonder how many times a day I pass through someone’s head.

can i just say that this growing trend of posts that compile quotes/artwork that are related in topic matter, is so so glorious. i love the mismatched font styles of the screenshots, i love how art in general, over various mediums, gravitates towards certain themes and i don’t know how to word this but i love seeing the impact of the personality/style of different artists on those themes… like having light shone on something and depending on ur position it looks different, is similar to the way different artists/writers/etc’s work hits u slightly differently even when talking about the same thing… does that make sense idk but like it’s a clear representation of how there’ll never be ‘enough’ art or ‘too much’ art and that’s so. wonderful i think

‘My vampiric mistress saved me from a life of poverty and destitution, but she made me wait to be turned until I was old enough to take up a trade or go to university. That way I might be taken seriously by the humans which surrounded us, and would have the pick of careers to pursue.
‘Unfortunately, in the six hundred years since, cultural mores have shifted, and now appearing to be fourteen means they won’t even hire me for a weekend shift at the Burger House.’

Gryffindor academia (pretty much just chaotic academia):
Debates bordering on arguments with your teachers but getting away with it because you're a good student
Being on the student committee and starting every point with "I feel strongly about this"
Being generally respected by everyone in the year even if you're not exactly 'popular'
Wildly competitive even if you're rubbish at sports
Spontaneous bursts of organising student events and then standing on the sidelines because you're introverted
Complaining about how much you have to do but enjoying it deep down
Recognising that the exam system is a game you have to play to get good marks
Making bad puns during presentations which only make people smile because you find them funny
Asking any and every question that comes to your mind because some people in the class are too shy to put their hand up
Forgetting your homework, having a mild panic rant to a friend but ending it with 'it's alright, miss/sir loves me so they won't care'
Having a bonfire of all your notes after dropping a subject
Revising in the most awkward ways possible, like standing on top of tables and monologuing quotes from Hamlet to remember for your exam or sticking post-it-notes on the back of bathroom doors.
The leg-bouncing thing/drumming your fingers against the table
It's physically impossible for you not to take the stairs two at a time
Saying hi and smiling at everyone in the corridor even if they look at you like you're a lunatic
Feeling that warm sense of satisfaction when one of your jokes finally makes someone laugh (even though 90% of them fall flat)
Badly summarising things in ways that somehow still work (for example, Jane Eyre is just two ugly people falling in love even though Rochester is old enough to be Jane's dad and already has a wife that he locks in his attic)
Coming out with random facts in class that are only mildly relevant to the subject matter ('ye but Edwardian women also thought tapeworms would make them thinner so I wouldn't take their word as gospel')
