⁣Leilani 🌺 Update!!! ⠀ ⠀ Today Leilani went for a vet visit and she is doing so well. She is heart worm negative, is walking much better and she had her stitches removed from her surgery to remove the tumor that was hanging from her chest. I adopted Leilani thinking she would be a hospice rescue, but she has other plans. What a little love can do for a broken heart. ⠀ ⠀ In just a month Leilani is doing amazing. Just yesterday when I returned home from work she was jumping around like a puppy when she saw me walk in the door and she ran a little in the back yard. ⠀ ⠀ She gets so excited when she see other dogs and is always happy being around her new siblings. She is following their lead when its time to run outside and is always in my feet when it time to eat just like all the pups. ⠀ ⠀ It’s hard to believe that someone would dump this pup in the middle of no where to suffer all alone an unthinkable fate. Hi Missie here, I got to spend a whole day with my dad this week. Went to the allergist for dad to get his shot, yuck!!! Then went to work, hid from the rain storm in my bed and then I had to go the cardiologist for me. I GOT A CLEAN BILL OF HEALTH!!!!! Well dad got the bill, but annual check up is done and I have the heart of a pup. 🐶 it was a long hard day and dog was I tired, glad I got to sleep through most of it!!! ⁣Leilani’s first night took a little getting used to, being in a new place with new siblings, but the next morning she was up checking everything out. She is loving meal time and her lil sisters were more than happy to show her how it’s done. She does love treats, but only prefers the Freshpet turkey jerky. She has good taste right!!!!⠀ ⠀ I know her second night was a better night by the way she slept in her comfy bed and snored all night. ⁣⁣Welcome Home Leilani!!! Yesterday we drove to the Texas Louisiana boarder to meet our friend Adrienne Scott Wyse to pick up our new rescue Leilani who comes from the Fort Worth Animal Care Control with the help of our friend at Forgotten To Spoiled Rotten Animal Sanctuary ⠀ ⠀ I brought a welcome crew of two of Leilani’s new brothers Ejeb and Paco to join her on the last leg of her journey Home. Paco was also another senior rescue from Forgotten to Spoiled Rotten Animal Sanctuary who has come along way on his long journey as a rescue. ⠀ ⠀ Leilani was so tired from her travels Home, but this morning she requested breakfast in bed. Under the watchful eye of her new lil sis Daisy, Leilani is resting and recovering from a surgery to remove a large tumor that was hanging from her chest. Thank you to Adrienne Wyse and Forgotten to Spoiled Rotten Animal Sanctuary for taking her in and seeing to her needs. ⠀ ⠀ Leilani is a senior rescue, more than likely a hospice rescue, but no matter the time we have together she will be loved and cared for as she should be. She is a sweet girl and so very gentle and I can see she is so very thankful for her second chance at life. Like many seniors pups she was discarded, but is now our treasure. ⠀ ⠀ I picked the name Leilani, which in Hawaiian means Flower of Heaven 🌺 or Royal Child of Heaven. On the drive back into Lafayette it rained for a few minutes, long enough for a rainbow 🌈 to appear. I take that as a sign I made the right decision to rescue her and that Leilani is a fitting name for a special soul. ⠀ ⠀ Welcome Leilani!!! So tonight I have to brag about my little puppy buddy Paco. I adopted him a year ago this month from my friend @travelinggirlrescuesdogs that runs a rescue in the Dallas area. Paco had a rough time in a shelter for months when his family dropped him off after having him for 10 years. They said he was old, bad and couldn’t be potty trained. This was not the case at all. He is the sweetest little guy and he always lets you know when he needs to go outside. Yes he is a senior pup, but being older should never be a crime. Tonight after cleaning out the laundry room due to a little flooding from heavy rains, I laid on the sofa to rest for a minute and Paco came and put his head in my lap. Might not seem like a big deal to most, but it has taken a year for Paco to be able to do this. After the trauma of being abandoned and often times abused, it can take a very long time for a rescue to learn to fully trust and love again. Me and my little pack of misfits never gave up on Paco and showered him with all the love and care he could tolerate until he was ready. Tonight I was rewarded with knowing that now Paco considers me his true dog dad. To someone else he was nothing, but to me he’s everything. Everyday I know my day will end up being the best day of my life because I end it with my little man Chi. I adopted him from a rescue 10 years ago. When I picked him up at the adoption event he fell asleep in my arms right away and I knew it was meant to be. On this special day and during the holiday season I can look back and remember the special angels who have made their journey Home. It never really gets any easier, especially during the holidays when thinking back on all those special souls who have touched my life is such a profound way with their unconditional love and their dedication to life. I am so proud to be have been able to be a part of each of their lives and I am so blessed to be called their dog dad.
