For those who might not know whats happened.
The Chinese Association of Performing Arts officially expelled him. No more performing, no acting, no concerts, no nothing…

…and I noticed that I haven’t many pictures/gifs of him saved where he smiles or laughs. Only from the WoH concerts I’ve got a few of him smiling…huh…
I still haven’t processed everything…
I’m going to unfollow a couple of blogs on here…
Edit: Also, his and his studio’s W*ibo accounts got muted. No more posting.

One of the things that I like about Wenzhou in Word of Honor is that the love story isn’t focused only on falling in love (and/or the discovery that it’s mutual) but also on learning to live while being in love. Their relationship around episodes 23 to 26 shows a period that is less commonly portrayed but that I really love to see, namely the time where they know how they feel about each other and know it’s mutual, but they’re still finding how it works for the two of them.
There is this gentle softness in both of them, both in how they start to really show their hearts to each other and how they treat each other. They’re both trusting vulnerable parts of themselves into another person’s keeping in a way they haven’t been able to in a long, long while (since childhood) and they’re aware it’s the same for both of them, and thus they know the meaning of it and to tread carefully.
There is a mix of bravery and hesitance, both of them wanting to get closer, and yet shying from it, backing away or feeling uncertain after the boldest declarations, because it’s understandably overwhelming after they’ve for years and years had to guard themselves so carefully, and yet the next moment they’re taking another step closer again. The peak example is obviously the beginning of episode 25, where the discussion on the porch comes with many hesitations, many chances to break the moment, and yet they don’t and instead have their night of drinking and heart to heart talks. Really the whole time they spend at the Four Seasons Manor marks this period of their relationship, the two of them gravitating toward each other, and properly finding their balance after the confrontation with Ye Baiyi when all the secrets are finally out.
It’s all written really well and performed beautifully; both ZZH and GJ are very good at portraying the multiple layers of emotions that any given scene here demands, and I’m once again super glad the show treated the romance as the A plot and gave it the time to breathe and flourish.
