Tangled treating its audience by not leaving them confused or being omitted from anything for the entirety of the movie. We are told and made perfectly aware of each of the character's motives, and the plot twists are more or less foreshadowed.

Right from the very beginning of the movie, we know Gothel is the villain of the story, yet Rapunzel doesn't know that. We see her being manipulated and deceived by Gothel so it's very satisfying to see when Rapunzel finally stood up to her.

Scary-looking ruffians? Actually big softies singing about their dreams five seconds later.

Even when Rapunzel thought Eugene took the crown and left her, they could've excluded Eugene's perspective from us and left us heartbroken as Rapunzel. But they didn't.

Eugene dying was foreshadowed in the very first line of the movie, "This is the story of how I died."

Rapunzel's tear reviving Eugene is a plot twist the audience and the characters didn't know about, unless the audience has known about the original Brothers' Grimm story of Rapunzel healing her prince with her tears.

And if the audience did know about the original story, they'd know Flynn Rider being a thief is a twist, and it's a twist that his real identity is actually Eugene Fitzherbert. Though from observant audiences they can tell Eugene wasn't the rogue thief he's trying to make himself out to be. (And someone's reaction on Youtube immediately knew Flynn Rider wasn't his real name).

Anyway, Tangled is a story that started with the sun and the audience aren't left in the dark.

THERE IS. a website. that takes 3D models with seams and pulls it apart to make a plushie pattern and informs you where things need to be edited or darts added for the best effect. and then it lets you scale it and print off your pattern. and I want to lose my MIND because I've lost steam halfway through so many plushie patterns in the mind numbing in betweens of unwrapping, copying all of the meshes down as pieces, transferring those, testing them, then finding obvious tweaks... like... this would eradicate 99% of my trial and error workflow for 3D models to plushies & MAYBE ILL FINALLY FINISH SCREAMTAIL...

Some things I wish we'd seen in season 2 of Carmen Sandiego! In no particular order, a visibly younger and scruffy Carmen during her first meeting with Ivy and Zack, Carmen's Milan runway look having her fluffy hair instead of it being straightened, Julia in an ACME pantsuit instead of the skirt, and Zack wearing a more original jacket than the black one he wore in the Emirates.

Guys, palaeontology is not some big fun guessing game. We're not pulling things out of our ass for fun. We have a LOT of ways to tell what an extinct animal may have looked like. Everything from scars on bones, mathematic calculations on load bearing, soft tissue impressions, understanding modern biology, signs of rate of growth, preserved organic materials - we can tell a LOT from fossils. We can get pretty good ideas of how things probably looked. We can definitely get a broad idea of an animal, its shape, its size. Even things like colour, patterning, and integument follow recognisable rules and trends. Maybe we can't get everything absolutely certain, and maybe there are some areas we're questioning, but we do have ideas grounded in reasonable assumptions.

No, T. rex did not look like a round, soft bird. No, plesiosaurs were not penguin shaped. No, a Triceratops was probably not bright pink and purple all over, and no, Brachiosaurus could never have had a trunk. These are things we absolutely can and do know.

Palaeontology is a science, and treating it like some experiment in imagination just harms an already misunderstood and looked-down-on field. Especially when our science is so often talked over or ignored by people who want to make animals "cool" or "scary" or "retro". Please. Understand the intricacies here and stop acting like our study means nothing.

I think a lot about how in Ice Age 1 a huge theme is the slow but unstoppable advancement of the human species as they start to threaten previously unchallenged megafauna (hunting the pack of the antagonist sabertooth and killing Manny the mammoth’s family) and then in all the sequels they just fuckin disappear

It’s still pride month 🏳️‍🌈 so I’m gonna share my nonbinary story 🐻☂️ Perhaps genderfluid is more technically correct with my understanding of myself, but I like the umbrella because it prompts less confusion, questions and debate. I will say I am not interested in fighting over the existence of NB genders, it has existed in many cultures over history & I will not waste my time arguing with people who likely will not change their minds.
