Solo exhibition at Morioka Shoten bookstore
Tumblr media
My photo exhibition TOKϴYO at Morioka Shoten bookstore is now in its third day. Unfortunately the weather was bad today, but there were still customers who came to see the exhibition and there was also an editor I met for the first time in 15 years. I appreciate all the guests and visitors.

Discovering a beautiful coincidence has brought joy to my day. A pair of turtledoves visit my home daily to feed. It has been snowing heavily since midnight last night. I noticed that the birds' footprints created a beautiful portrait of their movement as if they were gliding.

As I approach the end of the production of my upcoming photo exhibition at Morioka Shoten bookstore in Tokyo, I am currently in the final stages of the hand-printing process. Spotting is an essential step in the process. When photographs are developed manually in the darkroom, they tend to accumulate dust and dirt, leading to white spots on the photographic paper. To achieve the desired outcome, paying close attention to every black dot is crucial. Each dot is carefully adjusted to ensure they overlap perfectly without any unnecessary excess or deficiency. This process requires precision and diligence, but the results are well worth it. After spotting all day, my shoulders are stiff, and my eyes are losing focus. Nevertheless, I did a great job with the work.

Evgen Bavcar is a remarkable photographer whose story is equally as inspiring. Despite losing sight at a young age, he has become a creative force at point zero in the darkness. To capture the perfect shot, he relies on the descriptions of others who can see the world around him. Through their words, he can visualize the landscape before him and select the proper settings to bring his vision to life.
Using the automatic photography mode, he captures the moment with incredible precision. The result is a series of breathtaking images, each one a unique mental landscape that only he can see. Through his photographs, we are able to experience the world in a way that is both beautiful and deeply personal. Evgen Bavcar is not just a photographer but a true artist whose work inspires us all.
