I want to know the anime scene where guren got captured by vamps and shinya left him... Do u think it was only for the plot, or that shinya really just .. left him.

Idk shinya would ever do that, he literally resled his LIFE to save guren in cat16 so leaving guren after knowing him for 9 freaking years is rather stupid and not to mention that shinya wants to kill guren HIMSELF

The anime was sooo bad already and then that part.. firstly the animators romanticised guremahi and in the ova showed guren as a fanboy of idol mahiru, but I mean fine mahiren is cute, but they missed soo much on guren and shinya's friendship. Worst of all the made shinya ugly.. arhhh

i think there's two reasons! one, as you mentioned, being that the plot required it, and there probably wasn't any other way around it. two, considering how guren was the leader in that mission, shinya knew that they wouldn't just kill him. he'd probably be tortured for information, and looking at catastrophe that's not something foreign to them. so i'm very sure shinya left knowing they would try and get him back at a later point, perhaps even with the help of the reinforcements (guren is a very valuable asset kureto wouldn't just abandon).

so i think the plot called it, but it doesn't strike me as very out of character. guren put his trust in him to bring the others (the children especially) back to safety and shinya wouldn't just betray that. and considering his death monologue he also doesn't seem to have any qualms about killing himself in case guren actually dies, lol.

i also really disliked that ova. pretty much the entirety of guren's squad hates mahiru (especially shinya. he has such beef with her he would not put that shit on) and with her being their literal murderer putting them in mahiru merch is in poor taste. but it's entirely possible that the anime studio lacked such information at the time, with production most likely starting somewhere in 2014 and the last volume of catastrophe only coming out in december 2016 (i'd assume 4 volumes or less were out when production began). so whenever i get mad about something i feel is ooc, i keep that in mind. kagami did mention it in his afterwords that characters developed a mind of their own and developed in unexpected ways!

i think pretty much every adult male character has gotten significantly uglier, but since kureto has always had a more blocky and masculine face he didn't get hit as hard as the others. he does still look pretty good! overall i'm really happy to see him. he got very likeable back in those 70ish chapters and i'm curious to see what he'll do (without a demon, no less)

i think the first time i read the novels it was a fan translation posted to wattpad, but really, buy them or ask for them as a present if you can. i know, actually buying stuff is never your first thought, but it's usually the better option. online sites can always get taken down so having the books physically is a lot more secure AND you get to support the creator.

Do you think shinya is kind?

He is someone who won't really care a lot if he had to kill his captured teammates in a mission (not guren and. The squad) but that is only because otherwise they will be tortured and treated worse. Also he doesn't seem to care much abt himself, but then that's not really selfless, ryt?

So I wonder if he is selfless or kind?

that's an interesting question!

short answer: i don't think shinya himself is kind, but he does things that are. he can be selfless, but only within the limits of rationality.

long answer...

i think first we need to take a look at the difference between niceness and kindness. being nice solely means you are someone that is friendly towards others, treats them well and helps when they can. and shinya is nice! unlike the other high-ranking hiiragi, he's gentle and treats people fairly, causing him to be quite popular amongst the army.

being kind however goes more into your actual nature and intentions, implying that you treat them according to a genuine sense of compassion or empathy. and this is something shinya lacks.

a big part of his character is that he doesn't really feel much of anything. he grew up in a place in which feeling sympathy towards another person was quite literally a death sentence - so to allow him to survive, his mind had to adjust. since he is mostly incapable of feeling the things that cause a kind person to act the way they do, it's not necessarily a word i would use to describe him.

but he's not nice for personal benefit either. he's nice because he knows being kind is good, and this is something he learned over the course of catastrophe. he grew up entirely without kindness, but in watching guren, who was raised to live for others, realised that it's something the world needs. but because of his trauma, it's not something that comes naturally to him as it does to guren. instead, he has to make a conscious effort to be good to others, and he does so because he wants to be good.

the same thing counts for selflessness - he was raised to be selfish but taught himself that living for others is what gives life meaning, so he went from watching out only for himself to risking his own life to protect and support his friends.

none of it was given to him. he decided to change all on his own. and i think that's really cool.

Okay so um.... The new chapter..

So ferid hates reincarnations and he has killed Crowley, i believe he wants people to never be born again. So I wonder why would guren and ferid be working together, like if reincarnation really is a thing so wouldn't guren want his friends to reincarnate?? Idk though, ferid is messed up and so is guren (that's why they r my favs😅)

yeah that chapter was wild. ferid is projecting his own mental illness onto everyone else "i don't want this so no one else should get it either" style. not cool ferid. not cool. there's people that wanna live their reincarnation fairytale here >:( (although i am an anti and i hope mahiru never gets her wish of being reborn as a normal girl and marrying guren ever. so maybe no reincarnation for me).

it's still hella jumbled who's working together with whom and why. i feel like more resurrection volumes would clear a lot of that up but sadly nothing is in sight. what does ferid get out of helping guren? is guren working together with him only because he is in his debt or because they have a common goal? what the fuck are saito and mahiru doing? no clue. they don't seem to have any qualms about betraying each other though.

guren's beliefs are an interesting topic actually because he did also start out as an atheist but with him begging god to bring shinya back and now actively trying to fight against them that's probably no longer the case. perhaps mahiru even convinced him that reincarnation is real so now he's teamed up with ferid trying to avoid it LMAOO

When did get into ons fandom and when did become gureshin stan?

i'm not exactly sure but i think i first watched the anime december 2019 and then caught up to the manga pretty quickly. so i never got to experience the joy of opening a new chapter and seeing gureshin in it. horribly tragic.

as to when i started liking them i think i made the switch from mikayuu to them gradually while reading the manga because they just got more and more depressing as time went on and my brain likes that for whatever reason. except my brain also likes getting closure. which there is none of so i'm chilling in eternal limbo❤
