In these challenging times, many students may lack access to the Internet at their primary residence. Northeast Mississippi Community College has tried to identify Wi-Fi access points that are open to not only its students but those in K-12 as well, so they can use it to help facilitate their learning. But we cannot do it without your help. If you know of a business or location that allows a person to access the Internet from their parking lot, please leave the location in the comments below. If you are business owner and would like to provide a temporary password to your Internet to help students achieve their educational dreams, please leave a comment below (know that this would be open to the public as well). We want this list to be as comprehensive as possible. As you can see there are vast areas throughout the five-county area – Alcorn, Prentiss, Tippah, Tishomingo and Union – where open Internet has not been identified and students have to travel to complete their studies. As a sign of courtesy and thanks from these businesses that provide Internet to students, remember to support them in as many ways as possible, now and when we return to full service. https://ift.tt/2QP5Yoy — view on Instagram https://ift.tt/2WLoiTB

One of the best ways to stay up to date on the latest information on COVID-19 and how it effects our students, faculty, staff, our k-12 partners, etc. is go to nemcc.edu. A ChatBot has now been added to our website along with my.nemcc.edu as well, which is an internal site that faculty and students use most often. #movingforward — view on Instagram https://ift.tt/2wcznSQ

It’s March 4 and that means it is National Marching Arts Day. Where would #NEMCC be without the Showband from Tigerland? From blistering hot days at band camp in July and August to the freezing cold of a Christmas parade, the Showband from Tigerland serves as one of the college’s biggest organizations and as a social ambassador for Northeast. Numbering nearly 300 strong, the Northeast marching band performs its pre-game and halftime shows at every Northeast home football game, at Meet the Tigers and all pep rallies as well as Northeast NOW recruitment events plus many more functions throughout the year. While marching season runs from the hot July sun to the December cold, members of Showband from Tigerland never slow down. Members can be seen in the NEMCC Symphonic Band, the NEMCC Concert Band, the NEMCC Jazz Band, as members of the Pom Squad, as members of the Indoor Winter Guard, as members of the pep band for basketball games or lending their talents to other Fine Art activities like staring in the NEMCC theatre’s rendition of “The Pirates of Penzance,” during the spring semester. Marching band alumni have gone on to four-year colleges and universities using the work ethic the Showband from Tigerland instilled into them and taken that passion and desire into their professional careers as pillars of their communities. To hear more about what all the Showband from Tigerland has been up to lately, tune into the March 17 TigerTalk Podcast as host Will Kollmeyer has an in-depth conversation with NEMCC Director of Bands Bryan Mitchell. #movingforward (at Northeast Mississippi Community College) https://www.instagram.com/p/B9VKut2lalv/?igshid=tjvjte8pnpzt
