So what's with this obsession with modest clothing?
Okay so, I'm a Filipina Jewish Convert. On top of that I'm a U.S. Army military veteran.
I was not raised by my mother so I was raised by my father's grandparents, my father, and my uncle. My family was modest. I grew up in a modest, traditional, religious home. I changed religions, I changed environments. I've lived and worked with Israelis. Those were the most influential moments of my life.
Becoming Jewish for me meant following the rules (Halakhah) "The way" as I have read. You can't just have emunah "faith", you must "Walk the walk and talk the talk."
Modesty for me means following the rules.
Modesty (Tzniut)
Discretion in appearance and speech is designed to protect our souls from assault by a coarse world.
