Chuuya Nakahara. The young boy who joined the Port Mafia at only 15. That’s when he met you.

He swears on his entire being that it was fate the night he meet you. When he saw you walk in beside Kouyou, his heart stopped. You seemed relatively familiar with everyone in the organization, obviously having been there much longer than himself. Your lips pursed together as you offered him a nod of your head was enough to make him grumble and avert his eyes.

Being the same age as Dazai and him, you were assigned missions with the two of them quite often. You mostly stuck to speaking with Dazai since the two of you were already acquainted, but Chuuya couldn’t help but feel a small twinge in his chest when you would laugh at the brunette’s jokes, or when he would make comments on your appearance when you were in your own little world. He knew he shouldn’t be feeling this way, he had only just met you, and you had barely acknowledged his presence since you did, but there was still something there.

That’s why when he was paired with you alone for the first time, he couldn’t help but feel a little giddy inside. He vowed he would get to know you, and become at least acquaintances with you. At least something more than strangers.

And he did. He learned why you had come to the Mafia, and you learned why he did. He learned you fighting technique, and he explained his own, so when it came time to fight, you didn’t clash, but instead worked together to finish your mission in half the time it should’ve taken.

After seeing your quite obvious cooperation with each other, Mori sent you on many more missions together, and each time he learned a little more about you, and fell even deeper into his feelings of infatuation.

But, it wasn’t until many months later that he showed even a sliver of romantic interest in you. It happened while you two were walking back to headquarters late one night after a gruesome mission. Both covered in blood, some your own and some not, you made your way through the biting cold of early fall nights. You were standing side to side with Chuuya with an arm under his own to help him walk on a sprained ankle. When you finally made it back to the base, you helped him to the infirmary to get yourselves patched back up before reporting back to the boss. And when you were finally parting for the night, he grabbed your arm and thanked you for helping him. But it wasn’t the red tint of embarrassment on his face when he spoke the words of gratitude to you that gave him away, but instead the sincerity in his voice, and the way his touch lingered until the last moment. That’s when you knew that Chuuya Nakahara, the young troubled boy who was a renowned criminal in Yokohama, had feelings deeper than he knew for you.

That following summer, you were given a free weekend for the first time in however long you could remember. You used it to visit a firework show in downtown with Dazai and Chuuya. You lead the way, the two bickering boys following behind you. You stopped at small shops set out along the road as the sun set before the show. You all shared many different types of sweet and savory food, and found many interesting but useless gadgets.

As it neared the start of the show, it was only you and Chuuya, as Dazai had found a group of pretty girls to undoubtedly pester. You walked to an empty grass field were you sat together waiting for the fireworks to begin. There were many children running around, holding flashlights and wearing masks of different animals, but when the fireworks began they all sat in awe of their flaming beauty. You couldn’t help but do your same, and as you were Chuuya sat in awe of you. The way your eyes were wide with wonder, how the bright colors seemed to beam off your skin, and the absent-minded smile that adorned your face. Everything was perfect in that moment. He couldn’t want more, except maybe one thing. To be able to hold you hand, and kiss your lips, and to express the way he felt without the anxious feeling that rooted its way into his stomach. How he wished that someday, you would feel the same.

What he didn’t know though, was that you did. You saw as he stared in awe at you instead of the beautiful rockets. Or when he would hold onto longer than necessary when you fell during a fight, and the red that brushed his face when you did the same to him. You adored him as he did you. His mane of red hair, ocean eyes, fair skin, pertinacious personality, everything. You loved it all. But as a hand in the Port Mafia, there wasn’t much time to express many feelings. That’s why you decided that now was the time. So as he turned his head finally to take a look at the fireworks, you swooped in, grabbing his face as you kissed his thin lips. He made a small sound of surprised when you did, but quickly recuperated the kiss. When you pulled away after a few seconds, you both panted, faces warm in adrenaline, embarrassment, and excitement.

“Do you…” you whispered as he rested his hand against your cheek, making your heart beat impossibly faster.

“Yes. I like you too.” He quickly leaned back in for a second kiss, and a third, and then a fourth and a fifth. You couldn’t be more grateful for the secluded spot beside a large tree you picked to sit more than now. But most of all, you couldn’t be more grateful for taking the leap of courage to kiss the boy you longed for, and for the warm summer you were sure to never forget.

hello guys! its neptuneofthesky here, some of you may know me as tune, or my very 'original' name, anarchist. today, im here with a little sad(?) news, im going on a writing hiatus. so basically, this year is my last year of highschool, and i have to prepare for college next year, and im basically moving to a place JUST for studying for my career, so yeah, its a very important year for me, thats why im going on a writing hiatus so i can solely focus on it. do not worry, because i definitely am gonna get back to writing!!! and also I'll still be online here and there, but just not for writing.
