Archive.org deliver a windfall of lost music.

If you’re looking for a good way to spend the rest of your week, Archive.org have unearthed a gigantic collection of cassettes from the mid-eighties into the mid-nineties. According to their notes, the collection was saved from the archives of noise-arch.net and donated by former CKLN-FM radio host Myke Dyer in August of 2009. Due to the size and obscurity, the collection hasn’t been properly notated but is said to include cassettes ranging from “tape experimentation, industrial, avant-garde, indie, rock, DIY, subvertainment and auto-hypnotic materials”. Like imagine if you really liked Pokemon and you're like, "I really don't see why people would hate this unless they're just assholes for no reason?" Like it's a totally normal opinion opinion to have. But also imagine if you took a quiz and learned you were a Bug type and people stopped talking to you because they were like "It's in your nature to be emotionally manipulative." It would also be totally normal to be like "Oh okay fuck Pokemon fans then."

Now you may be like, "But the latter situation doesn't happen!" and that tells me you are fortunate because you have not dealt with the worst that the west coast of America has to offer

and like. idk. the fact that the couple times me or another tme dark kink poster on here have been called out for cnc or whatever (infrequent, quiet, pretty much inevitably blows over), the conversation seems to pivot entirely around trauma and if we've experienced sexual violence and is this coping and does that make it okay and all this weird whinging and speculation about what our tortured psyches might be like -- which is invasive and odd, but which is also a sympathy that is never ever ever extended to transfems posting (usually far more innocuous) kink stuff on here, despite what we know statistically about the sexual violence which transfems experience, despite what anyone who has transfem loved ones who trust them knows personally and painfully. it's just fucking monstrous. the most vulnerable people in our community continuously subjected to sexual harassment and violence and simultaneously declared ontologically incapable of being themselves victims. the term gaslighting gets over/misused but it's difficult to think of a more apt word to describe this cycle of abuse & denial
