Why do some people get so offended when trans women say “hey can you please not call me dude/bro/man?”

Don’t try to justify/defend yourself by going “ohh I use them gender neutrally!” and then just ignoring that it doesn’t matter if you think it’s gender neutral - if someone doesn’t want to be called certain terms you should respect that!

You just gotta go “I’m sorry for calling you that, I’ll stop using those terms to refer to you.”

It’s really simple. Most trans girls I know aren’t gonna be mad if you call them those stuff once and then after being corrected apologize and stop calling them those terms.

Hi guys! I'm nearly finished with my MSW degree and am working on a presentation for my last class. The final project is to make a pretend bill that I'll be presenting to my class as if presenting it to the Florida senate, which my class will then vote on.

My pretend bill requires all public establishments funded by the Floridian government to make a third of available seating in those public spaces accessible for people of all sizes (aka seats that have a higher weight limit, are wider, do not have armrests, and are portable when possible). So this would mean buses, libraries, government buildings, schools, public universities, etc. would have some amount of accessible seating.

This bill would help fat people (the main purpose of this bill) but also disabled people and all identities that can become fat or disabled, which is everyone. My bill asks for only a third of seats to be accessible and solely in government-funded public spaces as a "Get your foot in the door" tactic with the hope of the bill creating precedent for more fat positive legislation.

We're supposed to make our presentations persuasive as well as include a "personal story" element to add to that persuasion. So, I decided to make a survey for fat positive people to tell me their experiences with fatphobia. This survey will be used in my presentation, and I'm not sure whether I'll post any statistics about it on Tumblr, but assume that at the very least my classmates will read what you wrote (so don't share something you don't want to be shared with other people).

I've also decided to not limit this survey to just fat people. If you're mid-size or a thin ally with a relevant experience, you can submit a survey response. You can also submit multiple survey responses if you want to submit multiple experiences. The only optional question on the survey is a Tumblr URL, which would allow me to contact you if I have a question or would like to discuss your experience in more detail. Again, that question is optional.

The experiences do not have to relate to accessible seating nor have to be from Floridians.
