Types of Love
{ Albedo x reader } (1523 words)
Even though your position within the Knights of Favonius isn’t one with a bright title as your job was merely to gather the needed ingredients for various investigational needs, you were nevertheless happy to be a part of it.
Since your tasks are greatly around gathering and exploration, it isn’t anything too surprising for your relationship with the chief alchemist and captain of the investigation team to be close. It was common for him to drag you along to the magnificent yet deadly temperatured white scene of Dragonspine on a perfect Thursday.
“Say, what is the ingredient you need this time?”
“The scarlet quartz. It’s ability to maintain warms despite it being a crystal is truly interesting. A little further in investigation and we might turn it into something to help our future journeys here.” He said it with his usual tone while walking up the mountain to our camp. Surely it will be a lie if you say you aren’t taking a liking to this popular alchemist, but at the same time, something kept interrupting those words from revealing themselves.
The sky had started to turn dark yet the camp was at least still ten minutes away, despite making numerous runs around this area and fully prepared for each, the cold still manages to slip through jackets, sending a shiver down your body.
The boy had noticed your reaction to the sharp climate and decided to silently place his coat over yours.
“But-”
“I’ll be fine. You seem a little tired from your tasks previously, ignoring human temperature maintenance at this state will cause sickness.” And you could only nod to his statement.
“Actually, I...have a certain matter that I hope you would help me with.”
“Sure, what’s it about?”
“Emotions, various distinguishing between emotions to be exact. I admit I might not be the most professional when it comes to human feelings, so I do have some questions on some reactions I have when I meet a certain few.” “Hm, I might not be the best to ask though.”
“I understand, though I would like to know your opinion on these cases.”
“...Okay then.” After finally reaching the camp, managed to gather some of the quartz that he needed, cooked up some soup as he started his experiment once more.
“Should we start?”
“Here’s your jacket-”
He only stepped closer and held your hand within his. After knowing that your body has still yet to recover from the freezing coldness, his eyes expressed worry before grabbing his coat and placing it on you once more.
“I should make a potion for you, just in case…” You could hear him talking to himself as he walked back to his table. Before you could stop him, he had already finished the creation.
“Here, take this warming bottle, it should provide enough heat for your body to regain maintenance under the weather. And here’s a potion, you should drink it if you feel any uncomforts.”
“T-Thanks, you don’t have to do too much for me though.”
“I wanted to.”
There was a silence between the two before you decided to continue the previous topic. “Let’s start?”
“Alright.” He sat down beside you, somewhere not too close and somewhere not too far, just the enough distance for you to tense up and him to laugh at your reaction. “This first subject, whenever I meet them I get a very warm feeling. The feeling of the need to protect them and to make them smile even if it was to act out of...order and control. And when they made the right decision, I’ll feel glad for the troubles that they didn’t cause-, um, the peacefulness that we get to keep.”
You thought for a while before answering. “Hm, that’s...love, I think. I’m not so sure, but it could be connected to the caring that you have for the one and how you might feel proud if she grows in her decision making.”
He hm in response, slightly amused at you taking seriously the emotional words he used which yet so confusing, “You certainly do possess a skill that’s worth investigating.”
“Me?”
“Indeed, what you’ve said was quite the fact. I do care and would be proud to watch Klee grow,” he said. “And this word, love, is a complicated one, isn’t it?”
“It is, so to be more specific, your love for Klee is the family kind of love.”
“Hm, interesting.” He replied while taking a few notes from your explanation before continuing. “Then what about the second subject? Whenever I meet them, I feel as if I was being understood in the field of alchemy. The work that they’ve done is not quite yet at an extraordinary level, but the determination they have for the topic is admirable. I enjoy researching alchemy with their help and the progression they’ve made to where they are today was nevertheless impressive. Even off work, their suggestion for taking a leave was...amusing. I recall once they suggested investigating the crabs near the Falcon Coast.”
You can’t help but giggle at the fact that observing crabs is a good way to relax, which gives the chance of the slight blush on the boy, upon hearing your soft sounds echoing the area, to go unnoticed.
“Friendship,” you said, trying to take a pause from laughing. “The feeling you feel is probably the friendship, which you could also classify it as a kind of love I suppose. The feeling of being understood through the same interest, the respect you have for one another, and the carefree side that you tend to present to them is a form of trust. I’d say you are good friends with them, am I correct?”
“Precisely, but the usage of the word friend still confuses me. But in this case,Sucrose...then I guess we’re good friends, huh.”
“Sucrose?! Was she the one who made that suggestion-” And you couldn’t help but started to laugh again, it really was nothing new for the alchemists to misunderstand the definition of ‘relaxing.’
“What do you think about it though?”
“About what?”
“That plan, the crab and Falcon Coast one.”
“Oh, I think it was worth investigating, since crabs themselves might have some connections to a few recipes that I want to improve.” And you could only sigh at the boy who relates everything to work.
“...You did mention you feel confused by the word friendship?”
“Ah yes,” He said before glancing away, “I feel like there’s something more to this feeling.”
“...Is that so.”
It made your mood die down a little as your grips tighten around your knees, embracing for whatever he had to say. It was perhaps, Sucrose, the one he adores and not you. The thought of them being together, walking onward for a future that’s made for them was indeed an warming sight. But this bittersweet feeling just won’t go away.
Your focus landed on a plant beside some documents on the desk, a slight unusualness of it being present on this specific place as if it was something special, given from someone important. You shake your thoughts away, however, clearly he views you less than her.
Your admiration for him had already lasted for some time, but will the bud bloom when the spring comes?
“Does the emotion of friendship include an increase of heart rate?”
“...no, not usually.”
“Hm,” he said, continuing to record it down. “Then does it include the desire to hold them close?”
“...no.”
“Or signs of redness across ears and cheeks?”
“no.”
“Or the desire to protect them, be with them, and spend time with t-them till the end?”
“no, no, and no.”
He silently put down his pen and the paper before turning back to you. You could feel his sight, but you weren’t brave enough to maintain any sort of connections at the moment.
“Is it not friendship that I’m feeling?”
“...No.” And you started to explain. “It’s love, romantically. Your hope to be sharing the same future with the one you adore the most, the desire to be by their side whenever and wherever, the need of protecting and the signs of blushing shows how you treat them differently from the rest.” It hurts every inch of your heart to explain, but it was still done for his sake. “It’s love, the romantical kind of reaction.”
“I see.” he said before standing up, giving his hand to you. “Then I suppose I’m in love with you, (Y/n).”
“Wait-”
“Yes?”
“Is it not Sucrose that you love? But I thought-”
“You even said it yourself. It was only friendship between her. That description of emotion made me wonder about my feelings toward you. Turns out, it was as expected.”
“So you planned this all along just to-”
“Yes.” He looked at you with his shimmering teal eyes gazing into yours, as you see his smile that’s not noticeable, but compared to his usual expression was too shocking to be ignored.
“I planned this all along just to confess to you, correct.”
In the end, the flower did bloom in the coming spring.

Cooking
{ Childe/Tartaglia/Ajax x reader } (568 words)
Despite how much you hate to admit, you’re not the best when it comes to cooking.
Whenever you would want to make something for your friends, nothing ever went well. Either you misread an ingredient, turning the dish into something non consumable, or magically almost cause a fire every now and then, cooking really is a skill that you could never master.
However, today was different. It’s a peaceful day with the sun shining brightly out your window, birds singing their natural symphony, exactly a perfect day for no further excuse to fail.
It was as it was destined for your success today, you’re making waffles.
“I’m just glad you didn’t get hurt,” he said before continuing his laughter. “Your determination in mastering this skill is very impressive, I must say.”
You wanted to argue back, saying oh well why don’t you try cooking waffles yourself? But then you realized that he probably, and will, make an amazing waffle without burning the kitchen. His smirk wasn’t really helping, either, as the frustration continues to build up.
“I could teach you if you want.”
“I’m succeeding on my own, now, please excuse me for doing further research regarding this unfortunate case.”
“Never thought failing at making waffles could change my girlfriend this much.” You slightly glared at him only to see his ocean blue eyes still in amusement. Hating to admit it, but it caught you off guard as your face slowly became red.
He sat down at the table, watching your figuring rushing around the kitchen as your ‘experiment’ had started again.
“Why are you trying so hard to learn how to cook anyway?”
While you were busy mixing the ingredients together when he suddenly asked. Your desire to learn how to cook started when you were first dating him, only to realize how much jobs he could accomplish and still goes off on missions for Fatui, his ability had truly amazed you.
However, this also brought you into reflection, whether or not you will be someone being able to match up to him. Your standards for yourself were strict, therefore, you do know some skills. Just, occasionally, you would really want to do something for him after his tiring job and the energy drained from it. Which you finally conclude that cooking for him would be the best idea.
But something about you decided to go a little tsundere today.
“I’m just bored.” He glances at you, clearly not convinced, before shrugging off and walking closer to your figure. You could feel his tall presence behind you, slowly tracing his hands up your waist to hug, now you’re extremely distracted.
“Tar-”
“I’m not at work now, just call me by my name.” He said in a voice too smoothing that your heart had missed a beat. “...Or have you forgotten my real name already?” His smile hadn’t died down a single bit and it wasn’t a good sign.
“I’ll make sure you never forget it, now, I think you’re done with your cooking right? Why don’t we head to bed-”
“S-Seriously!! Y-You need t-to chill…”
“You sound like the one who needs to chill. Your face is incredibly red, you know?” He was right, although you hate to admit it, he was too right.
With another of his carefree laughter, he snuggles closer to you.
“You are really cute~”
And you could only hm in frustration.

Searching For
{ Xiao x reader } (1578 words)
Today was again another peaceful day in Liyue, as you, once again, were up to an adventure.
What exactly were you searching for?
Perhaps it was the Jueyun Chilis that Xiangling was asking for since she was once again busy searching for other ingredients for her dishes. Or maybe it was the commission from the adventure guild that Katheryne previously assigned to you, where the hilichurls were building camp again. Or was it just an exploration, searching for the chests that you might have missed even walking through this area for the 39th time?
Eventually, you sighed and shook your head, clearly, none of these was your true intention for you to be out here.
Especially at this time.
Maybe you should have just rested at the Wangshu Inn as the boss insisted. “You are not ready for traveling yet, please, at least take a few more days of rest,” was what she kept on saying, despite your final decision.
But this cold weather out here is really starting to get your weak body.
You have recently been in an accident, resulting in your state now. Fragile, unstable, sad, however words can be used to describe how your legs were barely moving at a normal speed.
You were only a mere mortal, after all.
So the same reasoning could be applied to why you are here now. It’s because you are a human, and you could easily be hurt. Which was the main problem for what happened that night.
Trying not to overthink anything more, you find yourself walking aimlessly around the area, where at last you decide to change your mood a little.
Maybe transferring your loneliness into anger, and putting those anger to that enemy camp in front of your sight will help.
...That was surely a plan that’s going to fail, however, understanding your physical conditions now, you will barely last more than a few minutes.
It was too late when you decided to head away. The hilichurls have already seen you and are making aggressive charges at your running figure. You really should have rested at the Inn.
Just when their spear was about to reach and pierce through your body, a strong force landed and crashed the evilness within seconds. The powerful swirl swept through the poor camp with the energy way too strong even for you to defend at your normal state.
What exactly were you searching for?
The male, upon seeing your presence, glare in your direction before slowly revealing himself.
Yes, you were searching for him.
You wanted to open your mouth to call out his name, but then again, who are you to do so?
A few days prior, you were wandering around the same area with a determination too strong for some advice from the Adepti to stop you while you found a precious chest. As you were about to approach it, was the trigger for the enemy to surround you. This was easy to expect, but at that point, and at that time, your mind doesn’t seem to be working.
Normally, someone would have come and rescued you by then, but he didn’t, which was odd. Later you learned the incredible force that was threatening Liyue while you were being injured badly by the monsters, and how he hated himself for not being on time, even with his abilities.
You still could remember the fear and shock you saw in his amber eyes when you lied in his arms, barely able to keep your consciousness. It wasn’t his fault, you knew it. It was his job to protect the people of Liyue. In fact, under these circumstances, you would encourage him to abandon you and save a larger amount of people. So you were glad he did.
But he took this way deeper than he should.
He was practically cursing himself for how, while in a relationship with a human, could be so careless and allow you to go off that night.
Then ever since that day, you couldn’t even catch a glimpse of him. It was as if he disappeared into the thin air, or he never existed before. Still, on some rare occasion of a sleepy night, you could see him watching from a distance. But when you tried to get a closer look to check, he was gone again.
It’s different now, though. He was standing right in front of you after days, so you must do something.
After his eyes landed on you for a while with some unreadable emotions, he finally turned around to leave, but you’ll not allow it this time.
“Wait.” In fear of him once disappearing into the night, calling out to him was your only option.
Surprisingly, he stopped.
You never thought you would get this far, so all you could do was sit down beside the riverside and signal him to come beside with a weak smile. Your energy was draining fast from these heart attacks.
He sat somewhere close by, however, still with a distance that even if you reached out your arm, you wouldn’t be able to touch his shoulder. This made you slightly sad, where there was this barrier between you and him as if it was the first time you met.
“I’m sorry.”
-----
Why was she the one who’s sorry?
A lot of questions have been raging within his mind. Even after being alive for more than thousands of years, seen questionable forces destroying Liyue and many else, he really thought he had understood the principles of how the world works. To kill and provide peace, it was simply his job.
So when it comes to emotions that he experienced for the first time, it really made his mind blank.
He had experienced a lot of emotions with you, with happiness the one he precious the most.
It must be the reason.
Because your weak smile had almost made his heart shatter into pieces.
When you were unconsciously lying within his arms that night, nothing could really be processed. All he knew was he failed, he failed to protect the most important person he ever had. It was only logical to leave you then, to protect you in the way he didn’t want to. Watching over when you’re asleep, predict the path that you were going to take and clear out the threats first, basically there, but with a distance.
What else could he do, he had already failed you once already.
So when she spoke, with her soft voice that he adores, and saying she’s sorry, he just really can’t process things anymore.
“What?” It came out as a harsher tone, more firm than the one he intended to. He was mad, not at the girl that’s slightly shocked by the tone, but himself.
“I’m s-sorry for what happened that night...I- I should have taken your advice, so please don’t blame it on your-”
He really just can’t process things anymore.
“I was the one unable to protect you.” He stated, cutting off whatever she was about to say and continued. “I failed to protect you, don’t you understand?”
“I was the reason why you got hurt.” He said it with a tone too cold, as it was about to pierce through the lies that she had trying to tell him. He knew it was his fault, and nothing else.
-----
“But it wasn’t.”
You came closer to the male, stating what seems to be crazy in the ears of the adepti while replying with a smile. “You were not the one who tried to hurt me, right? You were only trying to save me.”
He wasn’t saying anything, but you could feel no lightning in his grips, so you put your hand over his, and lay your head on his shoulders.
He shifted first, at the sudden affection and the physical contact, before looking at you with his eyes, clouded.
“I really don’t understand you mortals.” He said. “Giving up your lives for something else that will also fade in the passing of times, by the excuses that always appeared to be the only reason. Despite all the harm that could happen to the one, they always sacrifice for the one they...love.”
“So in return, the other should do the same, but I didn’t. Isn’t this clear enough?” As he was about to stand up again, you held onto his hand tighter.
“By leaving me alone and protecting me from afar, do you really think it is a good idea?”
“I missed you, Xiao.”
-----
“I missed you, Xiao.”
Her voice echoed within his mind as he glanced at the source. She was asleep, taking support from his shoulder while being unalarmed and unaware, taking no cautious of whatever the adepti might do to her when she was asleep.
But she knew he wouldn't, she trusted him too much.
He sighed, listening to the rustling of the leaves and the small waves that crash onto the rocks of the river, the only thing that was interrupting this silence. Maybe he should agree with her.
But the feeling of unease never left, not to mention the guilt that he gained after hearing what she said before drifting into slumber. Nevertheless, the moon that night was too bright for his mind to function correctly, either.
Trying not to overthink anything more, he slightly leaned toward her and closed his eyes, enjoying the peace within this limited time.
“...I really don’t understand you mortals.”

Dreams
{ Diluc x reader }  (513 words)
It was something unusual, nearly impossible, no matter how many times you have been thinking about it.
Currently, you are admiring the sunrays that covered your face and waking you up after a tiring day yesterday. The sound of peace and silence, nothing else, was a treasure in these days.
You still find it odd.
Slowly turn your head to the cause of you not able to move even a single inch, was a red-haired male still asleep. His one arm was warping around your waist with other places softly behind your head, slightly protective, you would comment. The motion of him breathing in and out was something that calmed you as you didn’t even try to escape from this embrace, even though you were supposed to, considering the fact that you have a busy day ahead. Instead, you find yourself admiring the magnificent sight in front while smiling.
It’s still like a dream, how Diluc and you got together. But you don’t dare to overthink it, because, maybe it’s only a dream.
So within this time, you only want to admire the feeling, even if it’s only a dream.
While you were drowning in your thoughts, the soft sound of him waking up have alerted you, but at the same time, take your attention away as usual.
“Morning…” He said, sleepily, while your smile became wider at his awakening.
“Morning. Slept well last night?”
“Yes…” His hair was still messy but somehow still was fluffy, giving you a desire to pat it gently. So you did.
He allows it, too, as if he hasn’t already spoiled you enough with everything you wanted.
After a while, when you were about to get up and continue your daily task, his embrace got a little tighter. You giggled at his childish act but compromised as you always did.
“I dreamt about you last night,” he started. Staring at you with those crimson eyes, waiting for your reaction. “I couldn’t remember it much now, even if I wanted. But I remember I confessed to you again…”
“...and then I woke up. So technically you still own me a reply.”
“How am I responsible for the me in your dream,” you say while laughing at the story. He hmmed in response.
“Even if it’s not for the you in your dream, I would appreciate it if you say it again.”
So softly you cupped his face with your hand and gaze into his eyes. You could feel the male slightly tensed up, clearly not ready for this much affection early in the morning. You went closer and closer to him, almost to the point of your lips touching. But a twisted turn, you went for the direction of his ear and whispered.
“I love you too, Diluc.”
He was clearly upset because of what he expected, so you looked at him playfully, before finally gave in and left a small peck.
Surely a small peck will do nothing to help the situation, if not, it was like oil on flame. It only increased the fire.
You were seriously behind schedule afterward.
