only murders in the building is honestly like The fun little show. it’s so weird and so unlike anything else. the odd trio casting of two incredibly famous comedians in their 70s with Selena Gomez. the main plot revolving around true crime podcasts. the level of complete contrivance and silliness necessary for the entire plot’s existence. certain disability representation i haven’t seen anywhere else on TV. surprise bisexuality. the mystery-comedy-??? genre mix. Jane Lynch as a lesbian lookalike of Steve Martin. the most insane celebrity cameos so sudden and jarring that you get jumpscared at least four times every season. Nice, Hot Vegetables.

Problematic opinion but I think we need to do away with heterosexual sex scenes in movies. I consider it oppressive to make actresses endure kissing or being naked with a male actor. No credible profession should have such demeaning standards. Sex scenes in movies should only be between two women, with only female directors, and shown to a female only audience. Men shouldn't be allowed to create or spectate art. Good men should only be able to watch traffic cam footage and listen to white noise in the underground cellars. If you consider that too harsh, they can trade in their screen time for more hours in the sulfur mines.

#low-key agree though #I can't stop thinking about that coerced sex scene in the cry of the butterflies between arantxa and trujillo #where both actors were COMPLETELY NAKED #and it turned really quick into a violent scene where trujillo slapped arantxa and she had to run and hide in his closet #all of this with both of them completely naked #and all I could think of was arantxa's actress and how uncomfortable it probably was for her #considering that trujillo's actor was a much older man #and how unnecessary all of that was #especially since I'm pretty sure the arantxa character was made up #probably to be able to show the extent of trujillo's violent nature without making shit up about a real person like minerva #and all this on a show supposedly about calling out violence against women #and telling the story of how the Intl Day Against Violence Against Women came about #but not even then we were spared awfully explicit abuse scenes such as that one #le sigh #even when people want to call out the status quo they still have to play by its rules somehow whether intentionally or not #feminism
