i am tired of seeing Fyodor being associated with Catholicism instead of Orthodoxy. it's sad to see Fyodor being stripped off his cultural and religious background for the sake of aesthetics. one of the important topics of irl! Fyodor's works are orthodoxy, and belief in god. Maybe, read his books and you will understand Fyodor's views even better (Asagiri confirmed, that parts of his characters was inspired by Ivan Karamazov. the difference is that Ivan doesn't believe in god and Fyodor does)

no, bsd Fyodor wouldn't celebrate Christmas on 25th December. Russians celebrate Christmas on 7th January. no, bsd Fyodor would be dressed in Catholic monk attire, he wouldn't have monk haircut. Orthodox priests have long hair and beard. they are dressed in black robes and they have crosses around their neck.

I sound like a broken telephone now, repeating this almost every day, but it's sad to see that important part of Fyodor's character being erased.

#this is a very fair point! #when I was typing I was thinking more about contemporary sources because whenever I check sites I'm not entirely sure if the information #is actually up to date or universally recognized and of course there are many sites to triple and double check but I think it's also really #fun and educational to have people share their experiences and get people to be aware about the differences in the first place #and there are lots of people who are interested in the subject and would love to talk more about it so I was also trying to encourage #them and show that there are people who'd love to learn more #but yeah google is free haha

yknow i never noticed the sheer rareness of images having ids or alt text on this website until i started adding alt text to my art (and trying to remember to add it to any images i post in general, especially text screenshots) and that makes me kinda sad

#from my experience at first I was really nervous and was thinking what if I'm doing something wrong? and then once I got used to writing #image descriptions I became more confident and now it's just a part of making a post with images #so don't give up if at first you feel like you aren't doing a good job and it's going to be alright

#this is so cool to know #I was aware that christams celebration times arw different for catholicism and orthodoxy but I thought easter is on the same day #before you laugh I thought that since it's calculated by moon phases it usually lands on the same day for both #it's really good to know that this isn't the case! #I love learning new things through fandom #I wish there was like a post or maybe a thread of posts explaining the differences between catholicism and orthodoxy #it's a very interesting subject and maybe it could help in writing fedya's characterization properly #I think it's always a great idea to explain cultural contexts of characters to make art more accurate and diverse #thank you so much nyusa for making this post and starting a discussion!! #now I hope fedya appears next chapter to fit with easter
