I went into the #exhibition with little knowledge of Blake’s work and even what it looked like in #person. From what I did know, I didn’t expect to discover such delicate use of watercolour and line work on such small canvases. I didn’t appreciate that #Blake also explored #epic #writing which has simply made me more interested in further understanding him as an artist.

21.12.19 Another World Lies Beyond: Chinese Art and the Divine @metmuseum

This was the last #exhibition I looked around when I was in #NewYork. Directly comparing both the Kyoto exhibition to this one, Chinese art definitely centres around caricatures where as Japanese #art is more beautiful.

I’m hoping the more I learn about art the better my #artreviews will get. That’ll come with time and something I want to work on this year. #newyearsresolution

21.12.19 Kyoto: Capital of Artistic Imagination @metmuseum

The exhibition explored the ‘elegant metropolis’ of #Kyoto and how changing political and religious situations throughout the centuries in Japan shaped its #art.

The various folding screens on display in the #exhibit were particularly extraordinary. The detail was incredible, you could really feel the patience that the #artist had taken over their work. I also appreciate that the art has an ornate purpose, I think it makes it easier to connect with.

The scenery and the concentration on #landscapes throughout the exhibition seems typical of Japanese art. I think it’s beautiful that Japanese artists feel such a connection with the landscape and further emphasise its importance in their work.

so I’ve officially left London. It was such a good experience just spending time with myself (with a few friends here and there) and exploring the world of art which I have really fallen for. It has been a very valuable time especially in shaping my potential career plans for the future. I’m off to Dublin for the weekend, back home for a few weeks after that and then back to uni for the first semester. It’s crazy how fast the summer has gone but how much I’ve managed to cram into it.

25.08.19 V&A #ChristianDior Exhibition • Not posted recently as I’ve been super busy on a work trip. I’m back now and ready to get posting again. Before the trip I visited the #Dior exhibition at the @vamuseum as well as the #MaryQuant and #FOOD exhibitions. • All three of them were really interesting to explore.
