I've been out as both a trans man and a butch lesbian at different times and I feel like, if I make a post about feminism or talk about how women are treated or anything revolving sexuality or sexualization or honestly really anything, in "leftist" spaces;

people treat me with MORE misogyny if I tell them that I'm a trans man vs telling them that I'm a butch lesbian, being a trans man really does give people permission to treat you with absolute vitriol.

It's the same kind of opinion they hold regardless, but they really just let loose if I say I'm the first one vs saying I'm butch, which causes them to pause more, and be less open about it. I have the same knowledge regardless of my identity, the information and experiences I'm giving you are the same. i'm bigender, so I'm both, but as a trans man it's like I've have to detranstion myself, I have to hide one side of my identity that's just as important as the other, to even be listen to at all. I know this has been said before. I've seen it, but to have it happen to frequently to me is really really weird

“The trans community is split between whether you like trans women or not” that is NOT what the discourse is about, and you know it. Trans men are just asking you to recognize that we have specific experiences with our specific marginalization and we would like a word to talk about that and acknowledgement from others that it’s happening. You’re making the connection that “if X happens to trans men the opposite must happen to trans women” because you’re fucking stupid and not actually listening to us. The talk I see sometimes here and there about trans men "fearing emasculation" really is being so purposefully obtuse, that it feels almost like gaslighting to even acknowledge it as an argument worth even responding to. Like, trans men "fear emasculation", as in they get upset at being misgendered and disrespected, like literally any other trans person? They have trauma around being forcefully feminized? They fear retaliation from their cis peers if they don't act a certain way? What? What are you even saying? That the implications of emasculation are completely the same across all demographics of men and it's never racist or dehumanizing, and it's always punching up no matter what? That trans men are paradoxically a suspiciously easy target and also toxic mennists who deserve to be humiliated and taken down a peg? What?

Y'all are screaming "but trans men are still capable of contributing to misogyny", as if this is some kind of a skill that unlocks when you realize you're a man. As if cis women aren't contributing to misogyny when they're weaponizing gender norms against another cis woman. Hell, trans women are sometimes contributing to transmisogyny too, in a similar fashion.

There's no group of people that's immune from contributing to misogyny. Women and trans people of any gender, however, do not benefit from misogyny as a whole.

A trans man who is misogynistic does not benefit from it socially. He still will be put below cis women, down in the gender failure zone. This is just the reality of existing as trans in a transphobic society.

And no, it doesn't mean it's okay to be misogynistic, but acting like there's something special about misogyny from trans men, different from when a woman (cis or trans) or a nonbinary person does it, is nonsensical.

Anyway. Bi and Mspec Lesbians aren't a hotly "debated" topic or even new to queer culture, it's just the newest thing that bullies who REALLY want to be homophobic and even racist use to justify harassing gay people they don't like.

It's the thinnest possible veneer of progressive language wrapped around TERF and reactionary rhetoric so that they can feel righteous for forming an angry mob against vulnerable targets. If you're gullible enough to fall for the newest wave of bigotry within the queer community, and turn on your allies because they're "confusing" or "invading your spaces," the SAME way they turned on bi/pan labels, trans people, xenogenders, neopronouns, and aroace people before this, then get lost.

it’s so funny to me that people used to try to warn me “if you go on t it won’t make you androgynous it’ll just make you look like a man” because 1) i do want to look like a man, that is famously a major part of being a trans man but also 2) t literally has made me androgynous?? like they were wrong on both counts. i got most of the looking-like-a-man changes that i wanted (deep voice, broader body, hair all over my body including my face) and i also give every single cis person in a five mile radius a stroke every time they try to figure out my gender. the assumption that trans men wouldn’t actually want to look like men and the assumption that cis people are good at correctly gendering us once we’re on t are both weird as hell.

Household: Queer AuDHD indigenous and Mexican man (24), with split custody his two children (2 and 3), and myself; white, trans, and queer AuDHD (25).

We were recently homeless but are now in an apartment, however employment isn't stable and we're still walking the tightrope. Anything at all helps us and protects my partner's rights as an indigenous parent in his struggle to maintain their needs. He has 50/50 custody of his daughters and it's important to him to maintain their well-being. If we continue to struggle his custody could come under question, and being a brown man going against a white woman in court there is a heavy bias he's had to fight in the custody battle. Help keep us afloat and protect my partner's right to maintain his daughters connection to their indigenous ethnicity and hispanic paternal lineage. Our income is not sustainable right now, but we're trying our best.

I'm going to throw a stone at a hornet's nest and say that the TERFs who like to claim Alison Bechdel as one of their own lack basic reading comprehension—and worse still, they lack shame.

There's an actual, honest-to-goodness, authentic, genuine strip of Dykes to Watch Out For in which Mo gets called out for her transphobia when she whines about sharing a restroom with a trans woman. Moreover, she then becomes the victim of bathroom policing herself, because butch women don't fit the cis-hetero-normative mold. It's all right there in the text, plain as day.

Just because Bechdel is a butch lesbian, and prefers that identity over "trans man" or "nonbinary," doesn't mean that she rejects the theory and rhetoric that produced those labels. That's child logic.

Cherry-picking her work to support their bigotry, just so they can claim lineage from a distinguished queer writer, is not only stupid and easily debunked, but it's deeply insulting. It betrays how little TERFs actually care about LGBTQ rights, feminism, or literature.

Any so-called "radfems" interacting with this post will be blocked—thereby cleaning up the "Alison Bechdel" tag for my browsing, so I don't have to wade through a bunch of bigotry every time I scroll through it. Thank you in advance. ❤️
