RESHADE 5.0

ReShade 5.0 has been released, after 467 years of production (or so it seems).

It’s safe to update, your presets should all still work. 

As always, MAKE BACKUPS of your current installation, along with all your current shaders and dll and ini files, keep them labelled with the version number, just in case you want to revert with minimal pain.

The biggest change end users need to worry about at the moment is to the installation process. The installer has been redesigned to be more familiar, and what’s especially interesting is you can choose a specific preset when installing and it will attempt to work out which packs you need to download for that preset to work. If you’re using a preset by some absolute awkward weirdo like me, there are probably still going to be extra steps because I add in extra shaders and so forth, but it’s a cool new feature nevertheless.

What’s particularly exciting about 5.0 is it now incorporates an Add-Ons system. For the moment, you don’t need to worry about that. But eventually people will be producing all sorts of add-on modules that can tap directly into the game engine and do some cool stuff, like replacing game textures, etc. I’m not knowledgeable enough to fully understand what’s possible yet, and I very much doubt I’ll ever be in a position myself to create any add-ons, but over the next few months I expect lots of fun things will be happening and I’ll try to keep myself abreast of it in case any of it is useful for TS4.

Note: The main ReShade download has disabled all add-ons apart from generic depth buffer detection. This is because add-ons can be used to cheat in online games. There is a version that enables add-ons (you can dl it from the bottom of the release post in the forum) but if you use it be aware you may be banned from some online games (the regular version is whitelisted on game servers). Use at your own peril. If in doubt, stick with the official version - it’s all you need.

Some things you may need to be aware of if you’re using 5.0:

→ There is no longer any option to download the Legacy Pack as part of the installation process. GOOD! So many people encountered problems because they were downloading it alongside other packs when expressly advised not to. Now you have to follow the advice I’ve been giving: download the Legacy Pack manually from github, and only install those shaders you need (and all the textures).

→ If you’ve ever needed to access the d3d9 tab in the ReShade menu to troubleshoot the depth buffer, that has now moved. You can find the same screen in Add-Ons > Generic Depth.

→ For those who have updated to 5.0 and kept some of their older 3.x or 4.x shaders, they should still work as before, but if you do get any RED errors the offending shaders will be listed at the top of your shader list so you can easily identify them and decide if they’re worth keeping. If not, just go ahead and delete them from your shader folder. If you do need them, check to see if there are updates post-5.0 from their respective repository (usually found somewhere on github - if you google the name of the pack they’re part of you should find them). You can download the whole new pack, or just the relevant shader, and replace it in your shaders folder. There is also a list of popular shader packs here.

I haven’t spent a lot of time with 5.0 yet, but if you encounter any problems I’ll do my best to help. As always, try to give me as much information as possible (saying ‘it’s not working, help me’ tells me absolutely nothing - how do I help you with that?), and screenshots are often a huge help. I have a discord server with a dedicated ReShade channel - I check that more frequently than I check my asks here, so it can be easier to get in touch that way. And there are lots of other people there who’ve been around the ReShade block a few times who can also help in my absence.

Create a single sim (just one sim)

Appearance: Can be whatever you choose

Life Span: Long

Game play Process:

1. Must move into a one bedroom apartment in San Myshuno (city living) or Evergreen Harbor (eco lifestyle)

2. Remove all furniture and wall paper.

3. Buy either a guitar or keyboard.

4. Remove all money.You can only make money buy selling items using the sales table, playing instrument for tips, singing for tips and dumpster diving for money. Items to sell are (fish,frogs,fizzy juice other inventory items) only one sales table.

5.You cannot move into your home lot until you pay your first set of bills and have your your first sets of furniture.

6. You can live/hangout at a community space to keep your needs filled but only with these items a full bathroom (shower/tub/toilet/sink) A sofa for you to nap on, a mini refrigerator and a microwave (if you don’t have a mini one use regular). The community space needs a sale table no more than 4,only 2 fizzy stations, 2 recycle machines, 2 fabricators, and no more than 4 dumpsters to dive in and 4 garden planters.

7. Once you have ten or more dumpster furniture pieces (sofa,tv,tables,stereo,painting,beds,etc) in your inventory you can place them in your home. Any duplicate items you can sell but you must keep one of them.

8. After putting furniture in home go back to live mode and you can select only one furniture piece to repair/replace with the money you made from selling duplicate items.

9. After repairing or replacing item you must get rid of all your money again. Repeat the process from number 7.

10. You are only allowed to make money from singing (get tips) playing guitar or keyboard, selling fizzy juices, frogs, metals, crystals, plants,fish etc from a yard sale table at your community space. Of course digging in dumpsters for simoleons.

11.Once your apartment is completely furnished from the dumpster items and everything is fixed and clean then and only then you can start the acting gigs. Only one acting gig can be completed every week. After your first gig you can start buying wall paper for your home.If you don’t want to act then you can join the entertainment career.

12.Once you max out either your keyboard or guitar skill then you can date. Your mate can move in with you but cannot work he/she can work on their skills though.

13. Once you have a mate living with you can have a baby. It is up to you to make your money to buy the basic items your toddler will need. Potty, highchair, bed, a toy.

14.You cannot move out until you have made it to the top of the acting/entertainer career. When you do move you have to move into a mansion with a butler or maid or both. So start saving now!

15.Once you become famous you must share your wealth in a charity event etc. Throw a dinner party, house party, on different days and receive gold. If you don’t you have to throw the parties again until you do.

16.When all objectives are complete you can keep playing and do whatever you want from there.

Fine Line Legacy Challenge

Sims 4 x Harry Styles 💓 Welcome to a legacy challenge inspired by various Harry Styles songs! This challenge was created by myself and my friend Amy because who doesn’t want to see this kind of crossover? This is a 10 generation legacy challenge with a threaded storyline inspired by songs off of Harry’s self-titled album “Harry Styles (2017)” and “Fine Line (2019)”.

Basic Rules:

You can select who will be the heir for the next generation. There are no restrictions on how many children each heir can have!

Unless exclusively outlined in a generation’s rules, you can marry or divorce whomever and do so as often as you’d like.

No money cheats can be used except for when you move in your very first heir in Generation One (freerealestate on).

You MUST complete all aspects for each generation before moving to the next one.

It is up to you whether or not you want aging on or what lifespan you wish to play on (playing on the normal lifespan could be an added challenge!).

There is an optional aspiration to complete for each generation.

I was going to make a video. I tried at least three times. But I couldn't bring myself to record another cliché YouTuber goodbye. My teary-eyed apologies opening me up to even more scrutiny.

Some would say I only did it for attention, insincere. Others would give their undying support. Still others would hate me in silence.

It's a strange thing to be hated by hundreds of people who you will never know. It's a nightmare to face an angry mob of internet strangers ready to judge your deeds, dehumanize and ostracize you in the name of justice.

You may say this is melodramatic, that I'm certainly overreacting. But have you ever faced the trauma and humiliation of being canceled for a stupid mistake you made years ago?

Have you ever opened your browser to find thread after thread, comment after comment, post after post - condemning you? Have you ever had your entire essence summarized in 280 characters of pure, unrelenting hatred?

Casual condemners perform no self-reflection. They never consider they've done anything wrong by jumping to the worst possible conclusion. They feign outrage and disgust without waiting to hear from you. Minds are made up and punishment decided. You are stripped bare.

I will no longer support her.

I used to be such a fan.

I'm so disappointed in her.

Disgusting.

I always knew she was a bitch.

Be careful who you support. When someone's mask slips, they may not be who you thought they were.

She's so passive aggressive.

Absolutely vile.

Can you believe it? I always thought she was so nice. Shocked.

You should rename yourself to ToxicSimmer. Because that's what you are.

I always got bad vibes from her. Not surprised.

I heard she abuses autistic children.

Opinions are formed by bad takes, screenshots, manipulated stories, rumors, tumblr reblogs. Truth has no place here, and neither does empathy. We will tear you apart because of situations we don't understand. We are fucking outraged.

We will accuse you of bullying others while remaining oblivious to the fact that we're doing that very thing to you - right now.

Friends will disappear, offline. Lurking in shadows to watch your fall. Secret attempts to show support - as long as no one sees and whatever you did wasn't too distasteful. If things look bad, jump ship. Quickly! Before you're mobbed too.

Three days ago, in an instant, my entire life was destroyed. Evidence of my disgusting, unforgiveable nature surfaced. Shared by people I considered friends. Absolute proof that your instincts about me were right all along.

There's no explanation that will satisfy the mob. No apology will suffice. There's no undoing, no understanding. When there are receipts, there's no defense.

A few stupid remarks, flippantly typed with the expectation of privacy - they will haunt me forever. There is no escape.

Anytime my name is searched, it's there. She bullies autistic children. She's a monster. How does she sleep at night?

She doesn't.

The pain gnaws like an ulcer. It consumes me.

When they look at me, they see something less than filth. I am given no room to be a human. No room to grow. No room to repent or move on.

I took down a minor's selfie from my Discord server because I was annoyed with her behavior. I LOL'd when my moderator jokingly said her face was "dumb."

I apologized then to the person involved. It was over, we healed, we moved on. But when you have a reputation, a career in the public, you can't really ever move on.

No, every stupid thing you've ever said or done can resurface at any time. When the mob comes for blood, they shall have it. You must suffer the consequences of your actions - over and over again for all eternity.

Imagine you woke up one morning feeling happy, refreshed, creative, productive.

You open your email to start work and you're met with messages urging you to kill yourself. Then you see them - the Tweets, entire subreddits and tumblr blogs dedicated to spamming some stupid thing you said in a private chat that was resolved years ago. The rumors. The lies. The assumptions.

Imagine that you are crushed under the weight.

Pleasant Sims is canceled.

When you are tried and sentenced in the court of public opinion, there is no defense.

No matter that I did a very human thing, venting about an annoyance in private. I hurt someone. I must deserve this. Actions have consequences after all. It was only a matter of time before people uncovered how vile a person I am.

Because I create content online, I'm expected to be something above human, something beyond moral. I should be a role model, perfect in every way, always nice.

Only I'm not. I'm just a flawed person who can never live up to the rigid expectations of being a "creator."

We are all one mistake away from absolute ruin.

I suppose you have never said anything rude about someone who annoyed you in private to your friends. If you haven't, you are a better person than me.

It was inevitable that I would leave YouTube. I've been tired of the spotlight and pressure for a long time. I made plans. I had an exit strategy.

But I waited too long. I was not allowed to leave on my own terms.

Now my legacy is that I bully autistic minors. It doesn't matter that this isn't true. This is what people will say about me. For years on end, the hate will fester there. When anyone comes looking for me, they will be met with my disgrace.

I'm deeply sorry to the person I hurt with my words. What I said was not okay. It was not excused by my frustration or the circumstances of the situation. But my intent was never to harm.

After a 17-year old girl spammed me incessantly, sending me constant messages on every platform, spamming my discord and DMs, even after being asked to stop, I was fed up. But still, I did not attack her. I did not harass her. I did not even ban her.

I made a comment to my mods that was stupid and mean, but it was not meant for her to see. I never wanted to hurt her, only to get her to stop spamming.

We found out she had autism, and decided to give her more leniency, to work with her on understanding boundaries and the rules. We didn't have to do this, but we felt we should since she was a sweet girl who obviously had trouble understanding the expectations of being part of an online community.

But the damage was done. Someone leaked those screenshots of our earlier chat and showed them to her. They told her we were bullying her and talking about her behind her back. They hurt her to hurt me.

She left our community. I just let her go. What could I do? I didn't want to cause her any more pain. I was ashamed of myself for saying those things in the first place.

Later, she reached out to me. My heart was broken that for all that time she thought I disliked her. I welcomed her back, apologizing for the hurt, but standing my ground that the spamming could not continue.

When she returned, we had a good relationship. She participated in the community. She stopped spamming, and we enjoyed having her there.

We healed. We moved on.

Or so I thought. You see, there's a person out there who despises me so much that they will go to any lengths to discredit me. You may have seen their multiple Twitter and Tumblr accounts dedicated to hating me, spreading lies, half-truths, and rumors about any little thing I do.

This person has tried for years to cancel me, but they've had no dirt to spread. When they got their hands on these screenshots, it gave them all the ammunition they needed.

They dredged this up from the past - a matter that was resolved and atoned for long ago - to prove to the world they could take me down. And it worked. I'm canceled.

I have been accused of terrible things. I have been accused of bullying an autistic child. I would never do that. But some people will believe that I have. And I cannot live with knowing that opinion of me exists.

Thank you to those of you who supported me and believed in me. I appreciate you so much. (ETA: I know that my supporters FAR outweigh the people spreading hate. I love you all and your support has not gone unrecognized. You are amazing, and I'm so grateful for your understanding. It's just that the hate became too much for me to handle.)

I am leaving the Sims community and YouTube for good. You cannot imagine the pain this causes me. My reputation cannot recover. I've been so traumatized and humiliated that I will never feel safe in this space again. I will cherish all the memories I made here, and I will miss those of you I called friends.
