Granted, Loki doesn’t know what the fuck the thing is that Badger’s drinking, either—but she’d feel it if it were going to do something hurtful, right? Oh, yes. She cares way too much about her wild, feral boyfriend to let him go drinking exploding potions willy-nilly. And even if it is one of those… well, she’s right here. Semi-omnipotent cosmic garbage fire. She could fix it.

For now, she’s just going to watch him, green eyes alight with amusement and delight. Nothing ever has to make sense with Badger, which just makes it so, so much easier to feel good around him. “How’s it feel, baby? Your guts trading places?”

The stuff’s a little tangy, a little acidic, and maybe, making him a little--(Buuurp)--gassy, but other than that he’s not sure what it’s supposed to do. Maybe nothing. Maybe it was a big hoax, or maybe he’s about to go on a magic-fueled peyote trip. He really can’t wait to find out.

“Don’t know, Babe, but I hope they’d warn me first! I like them the way they are. Can’t have my stomach pumping blood, it’s already doing most of the thinking! Yuk, yuk, yuk!” He’s waiting.  And waiting.

Badger shrugs, propping the shovel on his shoulder and catching up with a light jog before slowing to match the other’s steady and determined pace. He could do laps around the metallic man, if he wanted, but he figured that might be a step too far, for now.

The Badger can pick his battles. He just tends to choose more than he should.

“It makes perfect sense, ‘No--you’re just not thinking about it hard enough!” Is he going to explain? Absolutely not. If Nobody can’t keep up, that’s his fault. If Nobody can’t keep up with his new nickname either? Also his own fault. He goes cartwheeling away, and then does a somersault, perfect form, landing back on his feet with the grace of a ballerina and the sharp grin of a predator.

“ you’re beautiful!! “ baby doll tells badger, petting his head. “ your hair is so pretty! like a princess! “

Hair is kind of a touchy subject for Badger, sure, but he sits as patiently as he can with his legs folded in front of him and lets Baby Doll play with it anyways. He’s always liked the longer hair, around his neck and wild as it pokes out in every direction. Even if it’s long enough to get someone’s hand in it, he never once dreamed of cutting it any shorter.

It’s a pride thing, maybe, or maybe he just likes the strands tickling the back of his neck and twigs getting knotted in his hair. Likes the extra sensory feel of it. It’s a comforting weight.

But he tolerates Baby Doll’s examination regardless, as he tolerates most thing, with a sort of vague inattentiveness and mild dis-interest. “Thanks, Baby Doll-a-roo. I grew it myself,” Badger doesn’t think his hair is particularly beautiful, but if a kid could see it, then maybe it is. Badger doesn’t think much of his appearance in any way, mostly, because he’s the mask and the mask is him.

But something about this is still nice. Maybe its the open curiosity and awe on Baby Doll’s face, unlike most kids and even most adults, who shoot him dirty looks for the way he’s dressed or the cut of his hair, or the way he talks. Or just run away screaming. Makes him think of having a little sister, maybe, or someone for Emily to play with if she ever came out. He’s never really thought about having a sister before.
