"I would kill for you. I would die for you" would you take a break for me? Would you sit down and rest? For a day, a week, a year? Would you let others take care of your needs for me? Would you let yourself be held for me? By me?

Hey.
I'm serious when I say I think the sentiment that kindness requires "zero effort" is harmful.
The idea that kind is a thing you can be innately, without having to think or feel anything about it, leaves a gap in the fence where the other idea "if I have unkind thoughts or feelings, I am by nature a bad, unkind person" can slip through.
Listen. That's bullshit.
Being kind to other people means paying attention to the effect your words and actions have on others, caring about it, and trying to make those effects better. That's work.
If you have a nasty thought about another person that annoys you and you contain the impulse, hold your tongue, and let it go? That was effort.
If you took time out to really think about something you wanted to say and make sure it would have its intended result without causing accidental harm that you wouldn't have noticed if you went totally off the cuff? Wow, that took some work!
If you were tired and angry and full of hatred but you still did the dishes so your housemate has something to eat their breakfast off of in the morning, that wasn't easy.
I don't think there are magical "kind" people who never have a mean thought and are always selfless and pure. That would be exhausting and impossible.
I'm not a "nice person," I'm a nasty, bitter, angry, sad person who tries to have good leash manners, control my worst impulses, and not jump on strangers because they don't deserve that shit from me.
I don't always succeed, but I'm trying. I'm trying and it's worth it.

Hi! I had an idea for a poll and am genuinely curious about the answer. In what order do you say the words in the title of the game "Scissors, Paper, Rock", and where in the world are you from (in tags)? - Scissors Paper Rock - Rock Paper Scissors - Paper Scissors Rock - another variation
I'm from Australia and everyone I know says "Scissors paper Rock" but everywhere I look on the internet, it seems to be completely disregarded as an option.
Thank you! :)
Please tag where you're from and if there is a difference in the order in which you say those words in your native tongue and English. There is no option for "this game isn't a thing in my country" and "we call it by a completely different name" due to the 12 options limit. If that's the case, go with how you call it when speaking English 😊

My job is going to kill me
I’m a high school English substitute teacher and I’ve been subbing since February at this “prestigious” public high school. I love teaching and being a teacher. I put effort into learning the name of each one of my over 150 kids I have total; for most of them I can tell apart their voice even.
They’re highly misunderstood kids. I work so hard to create a space of trust and connection. They get hungry easily so I let them eat in the classroom as long as they put the trash in its place. Some of them sleep less than 5 hours so I don’t berate them if they fall asleep. I worry if they eat enough, if they sleep enough, if they have enough free time to do things they like in between classes and homework and after school activities. Most of them don’t.
I love my kids to fucking pieces even when they do things that make me feel fed up but I can’t do this anymore.
I know we’re meant to separate work from private life but it’s so hard to do when you work closely, for hours a week, with other human beings who rely on you. I can’t help that I’m a sensitive person either.
I love teaching, and I love my kids, but after this semester I’m gonna quit because I can’t continue trying to raise “the future generation” for 60 Mexican pesos an hour (you can google the conversion) and no benefits. I don’t care if the school needs “more teachers like me” (words from a coworker), it’s either I quit, it kills me, or I become one of those bitter teachers who I hate the most.
Be nice to the teachers in your life, especially the good ones, because the system fucking hates us.

Thanks for all of the recent feedback around Community Labels being incorrectly applied to content. In particular, we appreciate the input we’ve received from the LGBTQIA+ community and understand the frustrations from folks who felt that their content was unfairly labeled. When we realized this was happening, we immediately investigated and are taking steps to prevent this from happening again.
The LGBTQIA+ community makes up about a quarter of the Tumblr community. It is important for us to support all Tumblr users, especially those whose safe spaces are under threat in certain parts of the world.
As you know, alongside of the rollout of Community Labels we also expanded the types of content allowed on Tumblr as a way to welcome more creativity, art, and self-expression. Our goals remain the same today. Human error happens and we apologize to anyone who has been impacted by these mistakes.
We are working to better understand what happened and will follow up with more information soon.
