omg I haven’t been on this account in ages and saw this while lurking on my main and had to pull out my computer and log on just bc this anon irritated me so much. Anon why are you so pressed? Some people are more compatible with certain pets than others and more equipped to deal with different animal needs. Cats and dogs are both very needy and I love them both but dogs stress me out sometimes. They’re loud and sometimes too demanding. Every pet has needs. You sound so stupid and it’s obvious you don’t really know that much about pet welfare or you’d know that fishes have needs that you need to be very attentive to you if you want your fish to thrive. Many fishes, especially tropical ones, are way more high maintenance than mammals and will die if you look at them funny. There is no such thing a low maintenance pet if you’re caring for them properly.

Who cares even if a person does find super needy pets annoying?? It’s better that they recognize that so they don’t get a pet that doesn’t suit them.

it sounds like you find having an animal companion with needs to be a nuissance. maybe you would be better off with fish, or a pet rock.

What really bugs me about the whole female only spaces arguments is that it’s not enough for them to have spaces that are inclusive of trans women AND spaces that are female only. Female only spaces are not allowed to exist. I know exactly how the argument goes too. One of them will compare it to some type of bigotry, i.e., “well people would still object to white-only spaces even if non-segregated spaces also existed.” Okay, but female people don’t oppress male people, it’s not the same. Even if the sexes were treated equally and male violence against women were to be eradicated, there would still be reasons why females may want to gather alone, participate in sports against other females, discuss female specific medical issues, etc., because the inherent physiological differences between human sexes are many, whereas the differences between races are very, very few. Races aren’t discrete groups with hard lines. A person can be mixed black and Asian, but not mixed male and female. The argument then becomes “well cis people are the oppressors of trans people, so it is a space for oppressors” except that female trans people would be welcome. Then it becomes a matter of “ok so you’d be fine with a trans man who has had bottom surgery and a functioning penis but not a trans women?” nice try but there are no trans men with penises that function like a male penis. It is not the same. Make you own safe spaces for trans women and make them as inclusive as you’d like. Visit any of the many existing spaces for women that do include trans women and leave female-only spaces alone.

Y’know back when I was still a TRA I really did think that radfems sent themselves anon hate because even though I was staunchly “anti-terf” and would block them when I saw them, I couldn’t imagine that someone would actually say that stuff to then. I’m reading House of Leaves right now and it’s good but let me tell you, one the main characters is an extremely unlikable man. In fact, I hate him. The parts he “wrote” are in a different font and every time I see a passage coming in that font I start rolling my eyes. God, not this guy again. He has a sexual encounter with like every named woman he meets and they are described in way more detail than what the book requires. I don’t think the author knows how to write women. Choice phrases like, “her breasts bouncing around like giant pacmen.” I’m enjoying the story but god, you have to just roll your eyes at certain things and move on.

I recommend the book 2001: A Space Odyssey by Arthur C. Clarke and the three follow up novels. Clarke is one of the greatest minds in science fiction to ever live. He was a brilliant man, and he was gay. He had a fantastic sense of humor and his writing style is captivating. And the book makes the movie make sense!

I also recommend the Southern Reach trilogy (Annihilation, Authority, and Acceptance) by Jeff Vandermeer. Easy reads with a fantastic writing style. I tore through these books. The first one was loosely adapted into a film of the same name, but the book is far better and the plot diverges significantly. Great female characters.

I try to read 3-5 books on feminist theory/essays/writings a year, and another 20-30 books for pleasure alone.

So far I've read 1 for pleasure and reading 1 for feminist theory, presently.

This isn't a resolution but I just wanted to tell you guys, because I think its so important to keep reading a source of fun and enrichment as well as using it for self betterment.

Alright watched video 2 first because video 1 is an hour long, and nothing in there about how she’s funding the deaths of innocent children. Also nothing I haven’t heard before. I agree with some things, but others I don’t, and some are flat out incorrect. “Nobody is saying sex isn’t real” yes they are, trans people are constantly saying that sex is a construct or a spectrum. Jamie even says sex isn’t binary, which is false. There is variation both within and between the two human sexes, but there are still only two sexes. I’m not going to bother talking about any of the other points because they’ve been said again and again and again and my point here is that I’m trying to find this supposed evidence that JKR is using her money to fund the deaths of children.

I understand perfectly why trans people do not like what she said. I want to know exactly what she’s doing with money that is funding children’s deaths.
