I love that you are aware that mall goth is more than just nu metal -so many people forget how caught up we were on Evanescence, Lacuna Coil, HIM, and Killswitch Engage. Especially around the early 00s, 2003-05.

ahh thank uu!! and yes i like to think that mall goth and nü-metal are separate but close. i think that fashion wise they are mixed together often but are actually kinda different, for me nü metal is more 90s rap/hip-hop and skater based clothing while mall goth is more on the goth side of fashion while still keeping that baggy clothes kinda look (tripp pants vs jnco jeans). also music wise mall goth is more on the gothic metal or alternative metal side with bands like evanescence, h.i.m, type o negative, later deftones albums, deadsy etc. while nü-metal ofc has elements of rap/hip-hop and rock/metal with bands like korn, earlier deftones albums, limp bizkit, body count etc. but i also feel like people often mix them up as one subgenre calling it either mall goth or nü-metal ignoring the fact that they are kinda different. but honestly theres just alot of sub-subgenres and groups in the mall goth and nü-metal subculture which makes it confusing, anddd im just a nerd when it comes to alternative subgenres so i do alot of research😭

Have you ever tried listening to Marilyn Manson's music slowed? Angel with the scabbed wings becomes 10000x better, and I feel less guilty.

tysmm!!! tbh me too, i dont really dress mall goth irl bc of my parents, im more on the nü-metal side with baggy band tees and baggy jeans. but the style/subculture is called mall goth/nü metal!! you can find the clothes on sites like tripp nyc, jnco, vampire freaks, lip service, etc etc. im making a whole guide on it so you can read that! if you guys need more help on becoming mall goth you can always ask me questions!! <333

Who are some of your favorite nu-metal bands??

dudeeee dont even get me started on this💀

depends on what you mean by nü metal, like do you mean any band that identifies as mall goth music? bc theres a whole mix of other genres that are considered mall goth music (alternative, 90s industrial, sometimes funk metal, gothic metal, shock rock etc etc) or do you just mean nü metal by itself? (sorry im such a nerd abt this)

but some of my favorite NÜ-METAL bands are..

slipknot, korn, kittie, mudvayne, rage against the machine (aren't rlly nü but ill count them anyway), limp bizkit, sevendust, linkin park, sepultura, primer 55, skrape, snot, machine head, mushroomhead, etc

some underrated nü metal bands are..

twisted method, saliva, crazy town, ill niño, sepultura, orgy, adema, nonpoint, trapt, soulfly, the union underground, staind, stereomud, slaves of dope, otep, perfect nothing, body count, etc

im not including static x or deftones bc i consider them to be different genres (industrial and alternative)

hmm i cant even choose dude.. but i can name several! house of 1000 corpses, scream, saw, halloween, cabinet of dr caligari, the man who laughs, hellraiser, ginger snaps, the craft (if those count?) chucky, the leprechaun (ironically💀), blair witch project, dracula, the creature of the black lagoon, beide of frankenstien etc. my favorite horror genres are 80s/90s slashers, 80s/90s cheesy flicks, german expressionism, psychological horror, the classics, supernatural/found footage films, and low budget trashy flics.
