Lex Amare et Servire (LAS) is a fellowship of Filipino law students who aim to maximize the legal education to its fullest potential by bringing together students of law, lawyers, and other stakeholders to form a diverse yet compassionate community. In view of the recent devastation that the Philippines had faced, the LAS launched its first program, the Project Ahon Pañero. This initiative aims to help law students and bar candidates in typhoon-stricken areas through book and electronics donation drives, as well as other collaborative efforts, to facilitate distribution of collected donation, contribution, and assistance. Whenever I want to give up, I try to look for an anchor -- something to keep me going and grounded to the primary reason why I study law in the first place. Here's one of those. This is just two of the 24 brush-fine liner pens my love, Jumel, gave me two years ago. He knows I love color on my law school books and notes, and on my doodles. So, he gave me a set of these. These little things remind me of the bigger ones -- that I cannot let people like him, who are invested on me becoming successful someday, down. Lesson: If our family and loved ones believe that we can achieve our dreams and become equally committed to achieving it along the way, with more reason we have to think and act the same way. Chaos. I know I'll drive everyone, with OCD-like traits and love for cleanliness and perfection, CRAZY with this picture. But I am just brave enough to show how "dirty" my books and codals are. As an office worker and a law student, I just didn't have the luxury of time to make separate, clean, or even beautiful notes. I am always racing against time when it comes to studying. This is a freebie fountain pen from one of my fountain pen ink hauls last month. At first, I thought it's "meh". After all, who would give a functional fountain pen as a freebie for an already cheap fountain pen ink? But as they say, BAWAL JUDGMENTAL! We shouldn't be judging a fountain pen by its price point. 😂 To my surprise, it writes pretty well! I love that it is in extra fine nib (although the nib says "fine") because it doesn't bleed through my notebooks and even through the thin leaves of my law review books. I honestly think this is perfect as a work horse and daily fountain pen. My only regret is I don't know it's name. For some weird reasons, I have to study with my book put sideways (just like in this photo) so as to enable my body to the same direction. I don't know but I don't feel sleepy whenever I do this. I felt overwhelmed starting a bullet journal at first. My artistically challenged self cringes on the fact that I have to design my own journal. Moreso, I was afraid that my bullet journal will be left unused, just like the planners I've used in the past. Finally, just two months ago, I discovered a reason to bullet journal -- law school. And since then, there's not a day that I haven't used it. So far, I'm loving it. As I came to the last page of the book that I endeavored to read and make notes on, I am reminded once again how my boyfriend and prayer partner, Jumel, had supported me. Since 2016, he's been giving me the much needed support any law struggling working student would ever wish for in a boyfriend. This is one of the books he gifted me in our almost 5-year long relationship. I already have an Obligations and Contracts annotation by Atty. Hector De Leon, but he thought of giving me this just because I thin Atty. Tolentino's perspective would be worth considering as well.
