#423DAY #MFAFest #423Booming
Meet Willie:
1: I make all kinds of art mediums. From sketch drawing and markers,to digital to paint. I make whatever I’m feeling or wanna make that’s pop up in my head from comic/anime ,to abstract and erotic. I’m trying to be a artist that didn’t follow the rules but became one of the greats with my own way and style. And for my art to reach not just Tennessee but the world.
2:I got interested in art as a young child like 5 or 6. I did a painting in class and everyone was surprised and like what I did. It wasn’t perfect but it was something there. Plus I wasn’t great at a lot of things in school 😆.
3:I would like to make a living off from what I created so then I can also open my very own studio so people can see my work and other talented artists.
4: I’m looking forward to just meet other creators in the city maybe collaborate in the future and see what people think of my work. I have been part of a art show since I was in elementary.
5: that art dose have to be perfect or the same all kinds of art can be different and not perfect and still be a masterpiece and have meaning to the pieces. And also to take risk even if it’s something different or not taboo never be the same.
6: I have one by my art hero Basquiat
“I am not a black artist, I am an artist. ...”
And
“Most young kings get their heads cut off”.

Meet Chattanooga Artist: Briah Gober
I am an artist born and raised in Chattanooga. I work in a wide range of dynamic media, styles, and themes. I primarily create works on canvas as well as using the everyday object as a canvas. My preferred style is abstract but I have a love for oil realism too. Since 2015 I have participated in over 50 art shows and pop-ups displaying my work and at some doing live paintings. My work has been
displayed at the AVA Gallery, Hart Gallery, Chattanooga Theatre Centre, and Chattanooga City Hall.
Not only do I love creating art, but I also love to teach and encourage others in identifying, developing, and appreciating their own talents and creativity. Through fellowships and residency opportunities with Mark Making and Barking Legs Theater, I have worked with special-needs adults at Orange Grove and elementary and middle-school students at Orchard Knob. As an Artist in Residency, in 2019 I created and managed an interactive art station at the Chattanooga Creative Discovery Museum. After collaborating on a mural with Alecia Vera in the heart of Chattanooga at the brand new Kinley Hotel, and earning a degree in Marketing at the University of Tennessee, May 2021, I am working on expanding my mediums in order to create new horizons.

#423DAY #MFAFest #423Booming
1. My name is Tameya Davenport aka TDP. I’m an painter that uses any and everything as a canvas. My journey as an artist started in 2018.
2. I’ve always had a thing for art and drawing, but I became interested in painting after dropping out of college. I tried to find what my true passion through other forms of art such as, writing and acting, but painting is where I really shine.
3. My primary goal would be to create meaningful art. I want to show my perspective of the world and to also create art that expresses the imagination of others.
4. This year at the MFA FEST I look forward to meeting more artist in the 423 area. I want to make valuable connections and vibe out in a room full of creativity.
5. When looking at my art there’s 2 things I always want my audience to take away. My message is always : it’s ugly before it’s pretty and to trust the process.
6. My favorite saying would be Trust Da Process. Earlier I stated that I go by TDP. TDP is a double entendre for Trust da Process and TD.Paints. This phrase is my favorite because I feel that everyone can relate to it. Whatever you going through or doing remember to trust da process!

#423DAY #MFAFest #423Booming
Meet this amazing artist with a few questions answered:
1. As an artist, I express myself in different forms; pole dancing being one of them. I gain a sense of fulfillment when I hear a song that speaks deeply to my soul, and I am able to display a visual representation of the emotions that song makes me feel. I began my journey two years ago when I bought my first pole. I’ve always found dancing to be one of the most alluring forms of artistic expression.
2. I’ve always been intrigued by  the art of pole dance. After ending a particularly difficult phase in my life, I decided to set my intentions on doing more of what speaks to my soul.
3. My primary goal is to rid myself of self imposed barriers due to fear of the unknown.
4. I can’t wait to be within the same space as all of the other talented artists in the city! I’m looking forward to making lasting connections and being apart of making history in 423!
5. Freedom and Expression.
6. “Dream as if you’ll live forever, live as if you’ll die today.”

1. As an artist I inspire to create change for the youth with the proceeds from my art. To give kids another outlet besides contact sports to expand their minds. Seeing that I found my love for art at 9. But because of limited resources I couldn’t at that time really get deep into it the way I would have liked to. The fact it’s pretty much still the same days a lot for our community.
2. I got into art out of boredom at my cousin house waiting to be picked by granny. Didn’t even know I could draw. From there I was just curious as to what all I could create. Over time as I got older I realized it was my own personal therapy n my escape from the world. I love the peace it brought to me. While also always having my grandmother encourage me.
3. Right now my primary gold is to get my work out into world more n to start getting sales so that I start giving to the foundations that want to help with bringing some these resources to our communities for the kids.
4. This ye at the Mfa Fest I’m looking forward to meeting all the other artist here in our city.. seeing how everyone has come together to support each other’s creativity. To let our city be seen from a different light. How great we all can be when working together to show that there is more here then what people think. In hopes that this will open up door n opportunities for us all!!
5. For me I feel there is no wrong or right in art. I feel art is free expression of many things, rather its your imagination, a mood your in, or something you want to express. For me it’s not really the interpretation of what art is for my viewers but they way they connect with my art. How it makes them feel.
6. Favorite saying comes from my granny. Always believe in yourself, always go after your dreams, n never settle for less that what you deserve. You will make it with faith n putting in the work. She always told me this all the time..

I’m always known to be strong
And put up fronts because I know there are people watching me waiting on me to fall
I am also aware of the eyes of the kids and people that see hope and inspiration
No matter how much strength you embody life still has its’ way to bring us to our knees in seasons
And sometimes saying ouch that hurt
Is the strongest thing you can say and accept
That I’m strong but that stung
I strong but that knocked the wind out of me
Knocked me off my square
Say your ouch and brace yourself and get back on your journey

Finger Rolls
I remember in basketball when I fell in love with “the finger roll”. My coach would yell at me continuously to use both hands. It wasn’t that my coach was trying to steal my swag, style, and abilities away, he just knew that there was going to come games, days, quarters, and seasons when I wouldn’t be able to rely on it. He was the coach, and I’m sure he had seen the play time and time again, it wasn’t this mans first rodeo. He knew the in’s and outs, and the ups and downs of playing this game. That in one season I could use it, but however the next season I would have to fight through injury, and learn to protect myself using a different method.
Clear Lane
God does not want us to fall in love with finger rolls. You know the plays in your life where everything is smooth sailing, you see the scoreboard and you’re up on life, everything is so effortless. Where things are going so well that you talk yourself out of new habits that got you in that that place.
He knows the devil has his scouting reports on us, and some seasons we will battle injury, and our shots not falling in, that’s why he tells us to use both hands, because no matter the distraction at the basket, we ultimately have a greater chance of the shots falling, then us using one.
Change Like The Seasons
The difference in some of our seasons continuing or our seasons ending could all come down to wether or not we had enough disciple to use one hand on the ball or two. You doing it in your own strength or you accepting God’s hand as well. You see because ultimately you really have little to non control over where the ball ends up if bumped. In sports in general you learn to distract your opponents in a multitude of ways some being, yelling, light pushes or tugs, or smothering. So as we progress in life and in our own individual races there are some experiences you pick up on and identify the ending because of how the play started.
One hand is us doing things we see as necessary in our own strength.
Yes we can plan to do things for God without God.
It’s Just You
It may look good in person, hell good on the replay, sky rocket your confidence, but with two hands, yours and God’s, you’re unstoppable, and nothing nobody places at the basket has the power to steer your confidence, focus and drive, nor vision.
The razzle dazzle is not in you finger rolling the ball in, but us allowing God to be our shield/ guide hand and making the shot.
The razzle dazzle is not in you finger rolling the ball, but allowing God to be our shield/guide
So Spirit of God I ask that you guide me, order my steps, lay my foundations. Help me to take my thoughts and plans out of it, and show me your hand mighty. Because I know your words do not return void. Use my hands as your vessel God.
Amen.

God was with you in your past
God is with you now
And God is waiting for us to step into our purpose and meet him
He’s already there
Step into it
