It’s important to emphasize that these issues aren’t going to be solved just by reforming the police system. Discrimination against Black people have been perpetuated by literally every single system in this country: education, housing, employment, etc. Until systems such as education are not reformed to be consistent across the entire country, where Black history in the United States, current events, and the implications of discrimination are accurately taught, things won’t change. 

This is why it’s so important to VOTE. ELECT NEW state superintendents (for your state department of education) who stand for education reform, VOTE in NEW local, state, and federal police chiefs who stand for police system reform, VOTE in NEW local and state transportation & housing secretaries who will do things such as make access to housing EQUAL. We have this privilege and, at this point obligation, to vote, so if you are a United States citizen, PLEASE VOTE. Vote people in who are going to reflect the change our country, and Black people, need to see. Please use your voice come November 2020, and every future election.
