Okay, it’s 4:00 am here, English is not my native language and I need to throw up some thoughts so, sorry if there’s gonna be some mistakes in my writing.

That said, I’ve watched the Fruits Basket Prelude today, and I LOVED IT. I loved Kyoko, I loved Katsuya, and yes, I LOVED THEM. Yes, I do ship them and I do since I’ve read the manga, even before. Now, I know the age gap is a huuuge wall for a lot of people in the fandom and I AM NOT SAYING IT WAS OKAY! But, to the people who are so mad about it I wanna ask: against who are you fighting? How many manga had you read? How many anime had you seen?

You don’t have to be an expert in the subject to know that in Japan they have a different mentality and you’re gonna read and see things that are toxic but in this area are considered okay. I’ve seen anime where there was so many wrong things but people slept on it. Yes, the age gap between Kyoko and Katsuya it is wrong but the relationship is not that toxic. It is clearly a kink the writer has, since there were at least other two couples with an age gap in the anime and I know you can name them, but people were surprisingly okay with it.

To me, Akito and Shigure were toxics. Not only as a couple but as characters as well, yet people ship them like crazy. Shigure has a devious mind but people also love him (me included). Personally Akito is another story. I don’t like her, not even after her redemption (she throw Rin outside a damn window and yet people forgive her). As a couple I find myself even more uncomfortable, and I can use the same “excuse” people use for Kyoko and Katsuya: she needed help, not him.

I see a lot of people being okay with: the girl not having respect for herself because she is in love with a jerk, being okay seeing the boy being obsessively jealous or even the girl (and I’m talking about tv shows, movies and anime). I see a lot of people loving stories about student/teacher but make it okay because maybe she’s in high school and seventeen instead of middle school and fourteen. People love the forbidden love trope.

Just because I like the couple doesn’t mean that if I see a 14 years girl old dating a 22 years old man I wouldn’t be horrified. Yes, it’s wrong that some stuff are romanticised, but thankfully anime and manga are not the only thing we watch on tv, we have brains and we can tell when it’s better to be concerned if something that the tv is showing is wrong.

Also, if u hate this couple why are you watching the movie and why the hell are you doing edits that are clearly romantic but then say “not a ship edit”. If I don’t like something and I know it goes against something I believe I don’t watch it, I don’t read it and I don’t do videos about it.

My point is: if you want to keep watching anime or read manga, stop barking at this tree, ‘cause it’s really rare to find something about this particular world that would be like a normal movie or tv show and with zero toxicity in it. You’re gonna find worst things than this. I think fruits basket is the least, actually, one of the least anime/manga with a low range of toxicity in it.

Thank you! That’s how I see it but at the same time I was a bit confused since it all happened fast (Momiji realisation, not him being suddenly in love) 💓

I need to open a debate about Momiji being in love with Tohru. I always find it quite weird and even now, that I’m rewatching, trying to see Momiji’s acting in a romantic way I still find it difficult.

I mean, there are some scene where I guess you can see he has a crush/growing love for her but at first could be confusing if you didn’t read the manga first (I read it at the end of season 2), because everyone is discovering a different kind of love they feel about Tohru so I was like “okay he loves her but he’s not IN LOVE with her.”

Another thing that confused me and make me so nad is how the relationship between Kyo and Momiji change because of it (mostly how Momiji treats Kyo, because even tho Kyo is jealous and pissed off when Momiji reveals to him that he’s in love with Tohru he’s still pretty radicate about the impossibility of dating Tohru, Momiji included, plus I saw him acting pretty normal if we cut the parts where Momiji tease him in a “mean” way). For the first two season Momiji had a great relationship with Kyo and he was happy when he noticed that Kyo became more kind.

Now I might see the moments where he said stuff like “he doesn’t want you to get hurt” (when Kyo try to tell Tohru to stay away from black Haru) or when he tease Kyo about the fact he was doing puppy eyes as a try to interrupt a magic moment between the two of them (at the beginning I thought he was doing Cupido’s job), but still we don’t see hate or jealousy until a very late moment (which is almost the end of the anime).

In my heart I want to believe that the relationship gets better (seeing Momiji taking the picture of Kagura hugging Kyo as a joke made me smile) pretty fast since Momiji give up (again, pretty fast) when it comes to Tohru but still I think this part of the story is a bit forced and I hated that they ruined for a bit the friendship between Kyo and Momiji. It’s also forced to me, cause as I said before in like 2 seconds we discovered Momiji is in love with Tohru and immediately after we have him who said “I give up, I know I can’t compete”. Everyone could see Kyo and Tohru loved each other pretty early, and I’m sure he saw it too (so it doesn’t explain why the jealousy is shown so late).

I know the author wanted to play with “who’s in love with Tohru, Kyo or Yuki” just to tell us later that Yuki had a total different love for her but still, idk… I’m not crazy about this part of the plot (mostly cause of the tension between Kyo and Momiji at end and it’s a bit weird in general to me).

Thoughts? Please I will love to talk about this.

Honestly, I’m so tired of people hating on people who ship the Doctor and Rose. Just because we think that Rose was the Doctor biggest love doesn’t mean we also think Eleven era or any other era before them and after them was less important.

That’s an idea YOU think we have, but it’s not. I don’t see people throwing hate over other ship in DW. Just let us believe what we want. That’s what makes us happy! There are people out there shipping the Doctor and Donna or the Doctor and Yaz (which frankly I think it’s just because there are tons of parallels of Doctor x Rose so automatically people ship them even tho, for me there’s no chemistry speaking of “in love chemistry” but I don’t go to anyone and ripped that away from them).

Seriously, I’m so tired of seeing this hate over The Doctor and Rose. They have been a big important step in the show, it’s not ur favorite bit? Fine, but stop trying to push it down.

I have this idea of Eugene daily tell Rapunzel she’s beautiful or do something to make her see that, since Gothel always used to tear her down and no one can tell me otherwise, he knows that even though he never actually saw or hear her telling stuff like “look at you! You think that he’s impressed?”

Well, actually he heard her when Gothel literally blame Rapunzel about Eugene being stab by her. But anyway you can see that Eugene is smart and he understands pretty quickly during the film what kind of “mother” she is, without actually meet her. Otherwise he wouldn’t had said to Rapunzel “you still want to go back in the tower?” If he would had have been someone who didn’t had observed and listened her VERY WELL he could have just thought that Gothel was just a very loving mother maybe a bit protective but just because she wants to protect her daughter.

He tho, understood that Gothel wanted to protect “the gift” of the hair and not Rapunzel.

I actually would had LOVED if Eugene walks in a little bit earlier in the woods scene and see the way Gothel was treating her daughter. I’m sure he would have became even more protective over Rapunzel, maybe even talked Gothel down.

I’m a the beginning of season 3 of Tangled the series and I’m telling you, to me it’s not canon. The creators are not the same, for started and the stories are way too childish, the characters are lame and what bothers me the most till not is that they made Eugene a prince. It’s cute that, you know she’s the sun and he’s the moon, but I LOVED that for once it was the male character that wasn’t a prince or suddenly discovered that he was. This stuff usually happens to the girl. And the trusted best friend who became evil? WHICH WAS ALSO THE DAUGHTER OF MORHER GOTHEL?! Thank you but no, thank you. I’ll finish the show because I hate to leave things undone but it’s a no for me.

Apart from Eugene and Rapunzel being beautiful as always I don’t consider this show canon, that’s it.

I have lots of favorite parts in Tangled but THIS. He was so scared of not seeing her again and the fact that she’s actually in his arms… aaah he’s over the moon and all he can do and want is to keep her close and tight to him.
