I’ll actually hate if this happens because he’s basically male Arba but Arba never got a legion of thirsty fans because she was a female character 😒 I’ll be disappointed by the hypocrisy....
If the Orient anime goes mainstream, Shiro WILL be the fandom designated sexyman. I can feel it in my bones.

Please support the magazine and official release if you are able to! Here's how.
Today I learned that Imgur has a 50 image limit. Did my best to keep the story together and upload the extras as a separate thing. Anyways, be sure to pick up Orient's official English release both digital and physical. Orient and Orient: Samurai Quest is also available in German and French.

Good point! Although the reason Enkidu tried to kill gilgamesh was because he was created by the gods to get gilgamesh to stop being a douchebag lol.
I once saw a comment saying that Kouen is like Fate Gilgamesh and I was so offended. My mans Kouen is a family man with a plan while gilgamesh is just a trash character. They are NOT the same!!!!

I have complicated feelings towards ala/kou tbh. On one hand, their relationship being inspired by Aladdin and Badroulbadour’s relationship from the og 1001 Nights is neat and they definitely had a lot of potential as a ship. Not to mention they look good together aesthetically, which is why I like the fanart. But on the other hand I’m bothered by how aladdin and kougyoku barely interacted and had deeper bonds with other people and yet ala/kou is the most popular ship for both of them. Juda/kou used to be kougyoku’s most popular ship but then the kou empire arc came along and ju/haku was the biggest thing (which is understandable since 90% of judar and kougyoku’s interactions are in omakes and extras while judar and hakuryuu became besties in the main story). Ali/kou is also good but it’s always been overshadowed by ali/mor. So idk... to me, ala/kou’s instant popularity seems like people wanted kougyoku out of the way of ju/haku and ali/mor 🤔

Any idea what this move to a new magazine means for Orient? Is it tanking in sales or something 😰
It’s neither a good or bad sign necessarily. From what I’ve been able to tell, its sales have been just okay. I could be entirely wrong, but the numbers, I think, are just physical sales. Not including the reprints and maybe digital sales. And yes, the series has been getting reprints. It’s common to see a drop in sales/audience as a series goes on. Orient has reached the point where I believe it gets a steady average number of sales. Next Tuesday, WSM will have an official colored page(s) for Orient #113 announcing its anime adaptation. There’s a potential to boost sales and traction with that. The physical release of volume 1 in English is releasing January 26th. And volume 12 releases March 17th. So things are still happening for Orient. :)
Personally, I think the monthly release will be good for Ohtaka and Orient. It gives her more time to flesh out and really develop the story. Also, it allows the official English to catch up for a potential simulpub. AoT, which is also in Bessatsu Magazine, is ending soon. I’ve seen some talk (nothing serious) that they’re looking for something new to take its place.
We’ll know more about Orient’s future after the anime releases.

Yooo I was reading the chapter where Nanao has that meeting with the evil organization and I noticed that one of the members had a silhouette suspiciously similar to Tsugumi’s sister (long hair + side ponytail).
Hi, Anon! At first I thought you were referring to Naoe since in the latest chapter (87) he’s been fighting Seiroku, who has a long side ponytail. And his name is very similar to Nanao’s sorry to everyone if I ever used the wrong name in the past. But I thought maybe you really did mean Nanao and started hunting for the chapter you were referring to. I actually couldn’t remember the chapter number and randomly clicked on files saved in my drive. Luckily, I think I found the right panels you were talking about pretty quickly. Putting my thoughts below the cut; turned out longer than expected.
After comparing Tsubame’s portrait with our mystery person, they do look similar. Our mystery lady is standing between Shiro and Seiroku in the second photo, and a closer up to the left of Seiroku in the third photo.

We know that Tsubame was a former bushi in the Kosameda Bushi and is assumed dead. However, I can’t recall Ohtaka showing what Tsubame’s kitetsu blade looked like. If she did, feel free to let me know.
I will say, the mystery lady’s ponytail looks to be more centered more centered than Tsubame’s. But over the years, Tsubame could’ve either changed her style slightly or Ohtaka is trying to give us a red herring. Either way, I think it could make Orient even more interesting if the mystery lady turns out to be Tsubame. It would definitely give deeper character dimension to Tsugumi. Ohtaka has given us sweet angst before in the past.
Thank you for bringing this to my attention, Anon. I love finding things like this.

When I first saw this guy, I wondered what was up with his name since neither Holmes nor Hormes sound Egyptian. (imgur translation vs sense scans)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
So I looked up Hormes and google asked if I meant Hermes. I was immediately reminded of Hermes Trismegistus. (Note the bird head)
Tumblr media
In all likelihood, the bird guy’s name is probably Hermes. (like how the Household member with a jackal head was called Anubis, which is also the name of the jackal-headed Egyptian god of death)
