I've got to be honest here... Pokemon legends: Arceus is probably the most fun I've had with a Pokemon game since Dimond and Pearl first came out. It's recognizabley familiar while still being fresh and new! I'm only a few hours in but I'm hooked... Or should I say caught?

Lately I've been reading Pride and Prejudice to my wife and for the first time I'm understanding what's going on and loving it. I always assume all classics would be too hard for me to read and understand but I'm on a classic kick now!

okay honestly... I don't get the absolute adoration of Encanto. It was a very pretty movie but, imo, forgettable music and a story that felt hella rushed at the end.
Probably just me but yeah, I really don't get it.

My review for the Three Dark Crowns series by Kendare Blake.
I'm going to be honest... I did not love this series. I had a lot of hope for the series, and there was some bright moments but for the most part... no.
One of my biggest issues throughout was a sense of scale and being. It takes place on the Island of Fennbirn and I honestly couldn't tell you how big this island is. I don't remember a time where a character wasn't going from one city to the next and not just... being there the next chapter. I think there maybe have been one time, but the scale isn't given between towns. I never realized how important this is in a book to at least once and a while show scale through travel till now.
Next is impact. Especially later in the series some things happen (avoiding spoilers) that should have been important and island changing, yet only 2 people seemed to care. This takes away from the immersion and stakes when something literally island changing happens and no one cares or makes mention of it. And this happens time and time again with smaller happenings.
Characters were okay, as the series went on I fell out of love with some, fell in love with others and stayed pretty indifferent on many others. That's not really a bad thing, it's nice to see characters grow. One irksome thing is how the 3 main characters (triplets) refer to each other as "little sister" or "big sister". I'm an only child but this just seems very... cringy? Maybe it's not, I'm not sure.
All in all the Three Dark Crowns series is... fine. I can see this being a guilty pleasure series because it's not awful, it's just not what I had hoped for. It seems like it wants to be an epic dark fantasy series but misses out on the "epic" side of things. Dark is something it for sure is.
I don't know how to end this... I just needed to vent/word vomit my thoughts on the series. It's not the worst I've read but I did complain a lot about decisions throughout my time reading.

For the first time in probably around 2 years, I entered a bookstore! Now, this is partly because of the world situation the past year+ but also because there's no book stores around me, without driving an hour in any direction. So this was a surreal experience. I've missed walking through a book store, seeing all the books, their covers and spines threatening to tell me stories!
I picked up 2 books, but there was at least 5 I wanted. First up is Winter's Orbit. I don't know much about it aside from it's got space, politics and Martha Wells likes, whom I currently reading right now.
The next is Serpent and Dove. I honestly don't know a single thing about this book. I've seen it everywhere but I haven't got a clue what it's about. Guess we'll find out!
I'm planning on posting a quick review of the "Three Dark Crowns" series in the next few days, I have some major thoughts that... I need to share somewhere.
Till next time! Stay Safe!

I'm having a real 'like/hate' relationship with the whole three Dark crowns series right now. I can't help but feel like it could have been incredible but couldn't decide what to be. Epic Dark fantasy adventure or mediocre sister drama with romance.
I love aspects but can't stand many others. I'm 3/4ths done the final book and can already tell I'll have a lot to say.

Eragon is such a big part of my life! Hell, Paolini helped me propose to my now fiancee! The movie was awful and we need a good movie or even TV show!
If Eragon ever was a part of your childhood please join in the storm tomorrow or signal boost. Takes 2 minutes and it would mean a whole lot to me and everyone else in this fandom!
PLEASE STOP SCROLLING FOR A SECOND
Remember the Eragon book series the inheritance cycle? They were a really fucking good series. If you are anything like me, they were a staple of your childhood.
The IC cycle was also adapted onto the screens! But the movie was shit! To this day it is probably the worst book adaption I’ve ever seen. Impressively horrible. Words don’t describe how badly they fucked over these books. Originally, multiple films were planned, but it was all such a shitshow that they abandoned the project entirely! The director responsible never directed again. It was that bad.
(That being said I highly recommend pirating it just for laughs)
Here’s where we need your help! Christopher Paolini, the author, has just announced that the series (owned by Disney) is being considered for a reboot.

The biggest issue is that our fandom is really fucking small. We just don’t have the numbers to make a big enough splash, especially on Twitter. So please, please, please, PLEASE signal boost this! And if you’re able, post about it on Twitter. The link above has all the directions and information you need to know. We really need to get this trending for it to work.
THIS IS HAPPENING ON SUNDAY, TOMORROW (June 20, 2021)
This series was my childhood. It was the first book series I ever read by myself, and has become a special interest in my young adulthood. The IC cycle offers an incredible fantasy universe with a set of strong female POC leads, and fucking SOUL BONDING WITH DRAGONS. If you haven’t heard of it, I promise you’ll like it. There’s so much good in these books.
The last and only adaption came out in 2006. The IC fandom has been waiting over 15 years for this moment. Please, take a moment to reblog.

Tldr: The Eragon series / Inheritance cycle books is being considered for a reboot. Tweet storm needed. Check out this link: https://brisin.gr/tweetstorm/ PLEASE!

Friendo promo
Okay... I promise I won't use this blog as a promotion platform aside from this time, and when the album drops.
My friend has a band, Hybrid Theatre, and he's poured his blood sweet and tears into this along side his girlfriends. They've dropped 2 songs so far, a 70's hippie style called Flower Crown and an acoustic track called Faster! They may not be for everyone, but if you could give them a listen he would be overjoyed. Their based out of Calgary!
Next time I mention them will be when their album drops.

A Genre I want to see explored more!
This is mainly for the YA/NA genre, but really even adult books. But honestly... what's the reason we don't have some amazing new Westerns?
Tumblr media
Okay what do you like about YA/NA books and I can almost guarantee you it's in Westerns. Please note, yes I'm talking Red Dead Redemption style Westerns.
Found Family: Uhm... yes... gangs are for sure found family for the protagonists! When the world is against you, of course your gang is your new family.
Morally Grey: Again yes, gangs could easily be morally grey, stealing from the rich to give to the poor? Maybe living outside the law because the govt. is corrupt? This genre can be filled with morally grey ambiguity.
Female empowerment: Heck yeah, living outside of society, women could easily make their lives their own, not to mention the Women Suffrage movement which started in 1848, so yeah... it had a place in the West.
Adventure: Uhm... isn't that what the west is all about? Adventure?
Okay okay... This might have a lot to do with my strong desire to play Red Dead Redemption 2 again but honestly... I'm just surprised that there isn't more western YA books out there because they have so much of what readers love, action, romance, freedom, fighting for rights, morally grey stuff. Come on authors!
Tumblr media
EDIT: I'm not a western expert nor a writer... just a passion for reading and Red Dead Redemption.
