Part 2 of The pain, the hurt and feeling of betrayal
A/N:  Sorry, mrsbarnesx , that it took me this long to write it. Hope this fits the confrontation you were speaking of or hoping for.
summaray: Tony comes back to finish what he started, but you will do everything to protect those you care about.
As expected, Stark Tower, was down for two days. No Friday to help them out, a complete black out. Leaving the whole tower defenceless. Without out warning Friday had shutdown. All the lights and electronics going down with her. ‘’What in the,’’ Tony was the first to speak.
The whole team had gathered for a new mission briefing. ‘’Friday!’’ Yelled Tony angrily, annoyed that he was interrupted mid briefing. But Friday never answered back. Trying to connect with the A.I system trough his tech, lead him to a conclusion everything was out of order.
None of his tech was working, phones, tablets, computers even his watch wasn’t working. Meaning his suits wouldn’t work either. ‘’Tony, what is going on?’’ Natasha asked, somewhat surprised no one raised a panic. ‘’It appears to be that Friday is down.’’ Leaning down on the table he looked around.
He knew who was able to pull this off. There could have been only one person besides him who had the codes. ‘’She knows.’’ He breathed the words. ‘’You know what that means right?’’ Natasha asked, fearing the worst. ‘’That we are defenceless, and they might try to attack us while we are down.’’ Tony putting her thoughts into words.
Tony was well aware that they were outnumbered. His team was scarce, vision was no where to be found. Probably on the run with Wanda once she escaped from the prison. Rhodey was still disabled from the battle and the kid, Peter Parker, was too young.
So that left him and Natasha, two against an army. Leaving them in a state of panic, thinking you would attack when they were down and outnumbered. But you didn’t attack. Having them live in paranoia would have more benefits for you in the future than attacking right away.
‘’Why don’t attack while they’re down?’’ Steve had asked you one morning. ‘’Because now they will see it coming, prepare themselves as best as possible.’’ You started your train of thought as you closed the gap between the two of you. Your nose almost touching his. ‘’But once they’ve lived in paranoia for too long, they will make mistakes.’’ Pulling away with an evil smirk.
After waking up with Steve still next to you, you’ve become a little more bolder. He licked his lips and letting out a breath of air, almost growl like. ‘’You know better than not to tease, little one.’’ Pulling you back to him by your hips.
One hand moved over you body to your face were he held you. Gazing in his blue eyes you lost every thought you head. Every fibre in your body that had screamed to be a brat a second ago were now silent. ‘’Well?’’ He asked in a stern voice when you didn’t answer him. ‘’I do know better, sir.’’ Softly kissing you, he mouthed. ‘’Good girl.’’
Before things could escalate any further you were interrupted by a nock on the door. Bucky’s head popping in, announcing his presence. ‘’I am not interrupting something, am I?’’ He asked with a smug grin, knowing damn well that he was.
Throwing your head back with a groan. ‘’Of course not, perfect timing as always Barnes.’’ You barked at him sarcastically. Bucky tried his best not to laugh and your attitude earned you a hard squeeze in your ass from Steve. ‘’Doll,’’ He said in a stern and warning voice. ‘’Sorry,’’ You mumble quickly. ‘’I’m sorry sweetheart, but what was that?’’ Bucky teased, Steve’s hand moving over your ass cheek, ready to strike again. ‘’Sorry Sargent, Steve is all yours.’’ Steve leaned down to whisper in your ear. ‘’Good girl.’’ And let you leave the room.
Bucky waited till you was out of ear shot before he walked closer to Steve. ‘’You trained her real good.’’ Bucky joked, making Steve shake his head. ‘’She didn’t needed that much training, just my trust.’’ Looking at the door trough which you had left, Steve couldn’t help but smile. ‘’We might have a problem pall.’’ Brought Bucky him from his thoughts. Looking at his life long best friend and second in command, Steve raised an eyebrow. ‘’What do you mean.’’
Bucky prepared his speech. ‘’It’s Tony.’’ By hearing that mans name alone, the hairs on Steve’s neck started to rise. ‘’What about him.’’ He scowled, already hating his guts but after the stunt he pulled on you, his precious doll, he saw red every time he was mentioned.
The two decided to talk further in Steve’s office. The walls were more sound proof there and you knew the rule that when the door to the office was closed and guarded you weren’t allowed in. Unless you were dying or hurt.
Sitting in the large brown leather chair over seeing his office. His dark mahogany desk in front of him, littered with files and paper work. Bucky was seated in one of the chair facing the desk, with a view behind Steve. The large floor the ceiling window’s overlooking world outside.
With is fingers linked in front of him on the table, Steve waited for Bucky to speak. ‘’So, one of our guys came back and told me that Stark has been in hiding. No has left the tower, only people bringing in supplies.’’ Listening attentively Steve nodded at the new information. ‘’Any idea what kind of supplies?’’ Something didn’t sound right to Steve.
Opening a notebook Bucky had tucked in his jacked he looked at his own handwriting. ‘’Mostly tech, he couldn’t make out what kind. He is trying to get eyes on the inside.’’ Steve seemed to be pleased by that. ‘’Good, I want to know everything he is planning.’’ Bucky nodded, making sure he would get more information.
While they were talking, you were roaming the halls of the base. Making your way down to the kitchen for some breakfast. Even tough you didn’t know how long the two men would be talking for, you still made them breakfast too.
It didn’t take long for the two men to join you at breakfast. Neither of them let anything loose about their conversation and you didn’t asked. If it was of importance Steve would tell you in due time.
The day ahead was filled with training exercises and training classes. New Hydra soldiers needed to be trained, and who better to do that than their newest assets, Echo. Also know as you. After training your telekinesis you developed mind control as well.
Walking through the training hall watching the soldiers train. ‘’Keep in line Jensen!’’ You yell at one of the soldiers who was falling behind. The rules were simple, keep up or get out. Most of these people came voluntarily and some where taken.
No one just left, the either got their mind swept or they were taken care of. And now that you could control peoples minds as well it became a hell of a lot easier to sweep their minds in staid of that old machine they had used on the Winter Soldier all those years ago.
~
At Stark Tower, Tony was making plans of his own. Knowing he had two super soldiers to take care of as well as a telekinetic. “Are you sure this is going to work Tony?” Natasha asked him, leaning against the door looking into his lab. “It have to be.” Tony answered while hunched over his newest creation.
A device that could sent out certain frequencies that would intervene with the powers of a telekinetic. “I’ve made enough to scatter them around the base, I just need a mole to place them.” He held one of the small devices in his hand to show it off to Natasha. “I will find you one.” She said and walking away.
It didn’t happen often that the conscious of Black Widow would play up, but she was having second thoughts about this plan. She was starting to regret ever helping Tony. Leaving you was wrong, you were her friend. But what was done is done, she couldn’t turn back what she did.
It took some time but after a couple of days, Natasha had found the perfect soldier for the job. A skinny looking boy, not older thann the age of twenty three. No known family or relatives.
She had sent him to the base. ‘’First you need to get into the program and get to know the lay out. Then we will find a way to send these to you.’’ Natasha pointed to the briefcase full of discs. The discs Tony made to sent out frequencies. ‘’Great.’’ He said, sounding a little nervous, but his purpose was the help Tony for the sake of humanity. At least that is what he made himself believe.
Natasha had found him on an online forum that was against Hydra. On the forum the members would discus their theories on how to stop Hydra. One person came up with the plan to take them out from the inside out.
Many didn’t like the plan cause they needed to pretend to be one of them to get in. Natasha took him as the perfect person for the job. So she search him up and brought him to the tower. After meeting the Tony Stark, asking him to work out his plan of taking them out from the inside, he couldn’t say ‘’yes’’ fast enough. Now he was off to the base in the hope his plan would succeed.
Micheal Warren, the latest soldier we had taken in. A scrawny looking young man, dark brown hair and green eyes. Steve had the pleasure to break him in, while you were helping Bucky to keep the Soldier at bay.
Even though Steve took over with Bucky and took on his old name as the Winter Soldier. He never wanted to be him anymore. He wanted to wear the suit and be the Soldier without the mind control, without the trigger words. ‘’Are you ready for this, Sargent?’’ You asked Bucky, who was sitting on one of the operation chairs. You sat in front of him on a chair.
His face was blanc but his eyes, they showed what laid beneath the surface. He was scared, afraid that you would bring out the Soldier. ‘’No.’’ He admitted averting his gaze, his voice wobbly. ‘’But I will have to be.’’ He looked back at you and you tried to give him a reassuring smile.
It hurt you just as much as it hurt him. His feelings, his thoughts, everything he felt, you felt. Every now and then you would try and remove the trigger words from his mind. It was a long shot, but it was one you were willing to take.
After the session the two of you sat there in silence. ‘’You have now idea how much this means for me.’’ Bucky said out of the blue. ‘’Every one looks at me like I am the bad guy I used to be, but you,’’ he looked up, not knowing how to speak the words that were on his mind.
Breathing in deeply you looked for the right words. ‘’I like that you are broken, broken like me.’’ Reaching out to him, you squeezed his hand softly. ‘’You are not alone any more, you have Steve and now me too. Just like I have the both of you.’’ It seemed to help a bit, his mood lit up.
Steve was already done with the training when the two of you got back. He was in his office were you met up with him. Not bothering to knock you opened the door and walked in. He was alone, sitting at the desk. Steve looked up once he heard the door open and fall back into its lock.
Tired and spend you walked over to him, he eyed you closely with every step you took. ‘’Everything alright doll?’’ He asked worried. Normally you would have answered him but not this time.
Walking around the desk so you were standing next to him. Waiting for him to turn and face you. Once he faced you in the chair you climbed in his lap and made yourself comfortable.
Immediately he wrapped his arms around your waist and pulled you closer. Your head resting on his chest, the rhythmic beats of his heart calming you down. ‘’The session with Bucky was that intense?’’ He asked softly, while stroking your back in a soothing way. Eyes closed you laid there, listening to his heartbeat, too tired to verbally respond. So you nodded.
Normally Steve would tell you to use your words but he let it slip this time. He knew how tiring the session could get, if he could, he would attend them. Staying at a distance but close by if he needed to step in.
Steve talked about his day, you loved to hear his voice and the vibrations of his voice in his chest brought you at ease. Steve had looked down to check up on you once he noticed your breathing evening out, finding you asleep.
Lately Steve had noticed some change in your behaviour, little mood swings. Nothing major, or at least, not yet. It started after you settled in the base with Steve. He still believes a part of you holds onto the thought of Tony coming back for you or the part that hasn’t healed yet.
All he wanted to do was keep you save, to protect you. The joy he felt when you realised his love for you, that he would be there for you. Unlike Tony, he would never abandon you. He would give up to world for you and he hoped you would do the same. But little did he know you would too.
Tony’s plan took some time to perfect, Warren gave inside intel trough a hidden ear peace Tony had designed for him. One that couldn’t been seen with the naked eye. After doing their research on their old friends and how they operated, they had found out that each and every new soldier would be inspected and search thoroughly.
One afternoon you and Steve were training when again Bucky interrupted. He made a habit of that to interrupt when you and Steve had a moment alone. ‘’Steve!’’ Out of breath and slightly angered Bucky walked in.  ‘’Doll, can you make sure the soldiers are doing what they are suppose too?’’ It was both an order and a question.
Picking up the stern edge of his voice, knowing he needed to talk to Steve alone. ‘’Yeah of course Sarge.’’ Grabbing your stuff you left the gym, before exiting you gave Steve a quick kiss on the cheek.
Before you would make your way down to see what the soldiers were up too you changed back into your uniform. The higher ranked soldiers had their orders and didn’t need to be check up on. It were the new recruits that could need a check up.
Every officer was assigned a group of soldiers. As much as you liked training them you didn’t want to be stuck with them all day. Walking from one group to the other you observed closely. Hydra’s future laid in their hands.
Walking into one of the rooms the officer stopped what he was doing and greeted you. Some soldiers followed suit while others did nothing. Raising an eyebrow at them but you kept quiet. ‘’Don’t you have any god damn respect for your superior.’’ Officer Peterson yelled to the soldier who just stood there dumb founded. ‘’Get in formation!’’ He bellowed trough the room.
One by one every soldier took stand next to one another until they formed a line. ‘’Now I expect you to greet her with respect.’’ They all greeted you together before they were dismissed. ‘’What do we owe this pleasure, ma’am?’’ Officer Peterson asked. ‘’Just checking up on everyone while the Captain is busy.’’ The officer gave you a nod before turning back to the soldiers.
Bucky waited till you were gone, much to Steve's chagrin. ‘’Buck! Just tell me already!’’ The annoyance was clearly heard in his voice. ‘’It’s Tony,’’ Steve stood up a bit straighter after hearing that name. ‘’I know what he is planning.’’ He said in one breath. Steve’s face formed in an unreadable expression.
That morning Bucky’s spy came back with intel. He had informed Bucky about Tony’s plans and he was coming, soon. ‘’Tony is on his way here, I have no idea when he might strike or how. But what I do know, he is here to take us out. All of us, including your girl.’’ At this point Steve was fuming with anger.
Without a word Steve walked out of the room, not knowing what was happening Bucky followed. ‘’Steve, wait up, pal.’’ Bucky had to jog to keep up with his friend. Only Steve wasn’t listening. ‘’Steve!’’ Bucky yelled as he yanked on his friends shoulder. Eyes red with rage Steve looked at Bucky. ‘’You can’t go in this blindly, we need a plan.’’ Steve shook his head. ‘’I don’t care, get every one ready.’’ It was an order, Steve went in full Captain mode and ordered every one around.
Trough out the base sirens went of and red lights started to burn. Everyone in the training room looked around. ‘’This is not a drill, we will soon be under attack.’’ It was Steve’s voice that could be heard from the speakers.
In a straight line you ran towards the command centre, knowing you would find Steve there. ‘’What is going on?’’ You asked the moment you entered the room. ‘’Buck, get her out of here.’’ Steve ordered Bucky, ignoring you.
Bucky stood up from the table and walked over to you. Ready to escort you away. ‘’No, get your hands away.’’ You slapped Bucky’s hands back when he tried to reach for you. ‘’Steve, I asked you a question.’’ Taking a step closer to Steve, who now looked up to you. ‘’And I gave Bucky an order.’’ Was his counter reaction.
Letting out a groan in frustration, hanging your head down. ‘’This is ridiculous.’’ You said more to yourself than to Steve. Looking back up to him, you looked him in the eye. ‘’Steve, what ever it is, I am not going.’’ Laying a reassuring hand on his arm.
Now it was Steve’s turn to bow his head and sigh. ‘’I just don’t want you to get hurt.’’ Confusion crossed your face. ‘’What do you mean? I fight Bucky for fun.’’ You tried to joke his seriousness away. ‘’You don’t understand, Tony he’s,’’ Before he could finish his sentence a big explosion could be heard from somewhere in the base.
‘’He’s here.’’ Steve muttered. Both anger and fear radiated from your body. None of Tony’s plans were clear or known to you but Steve did. He was here to finish what he started a year ago.
‘’I don’t know what he wants but this will end, today.’’ You said determined and ready to fight. ‘’Were are you going?’’ Steve asked when you walked away to where the explosion was heard. ‘’To end this.’’ You said over your shoulder, never slowing down.
Steve and Bucky followed you closely. Both ready with weapons, you didn’t need one, cause you were the weapon. In the middle of a hallway you were stopped by Tony and Natasha. ‘’You are oke!’’ Tony called out as if he was here to save you. Like he should had done a year ago. He walked up to you and grabbed your arm, as if he was to pull you away from Steve and Bucky.
Before he could clasp his hand around your wrist you send him flying backwards. ‘’Don’t you dare touch me!’’ Tony recovered fast from the blow back. Before he could hit a wall his suite stopped him. ‘’Can’t you see we are here to save you?’’ He looked at me as if he was serious. ‘’Save me?’’ You let out a silent laugh. ‘’You are a bit too late for that don’t you think.’’ Your voice calm but fuming with anger.
Natasha took a step forward. ‘’I’ve tried to come sooner.’’ You scoffed loudly and interrupted her. ‘’Oh really?! Then why did Tony leave me in the file room for dead. Tell me when were you coming to save me in the four months I was locked up and tortured.’’ Slowly taking steps forward while raising your voice with each word.
Steve listened closely to you and casted away his eyes. All the build up anger and trauma came out, knowing he was the cause of most of it. In that moment he feared losing you. ‘’Every day,’’ Trying to stay strong but your brittle voice giving away your emotions. ‘’Every day, I hoped you would come back for me, even when they told me you left.’’ Looking at Tony with tear filled eyes.
While you tried to stay strong he looked back at you with dead eyes. There was no emotion left in them. ‘’You have to believe me.’’ Natasha tried with a pleading voice. ‘’But I don’t.’’ You looked back at her. ‘’You didn’t come either, when I was bleeding out on the floor, hospitalised from the abuse, you just kept following Tony like a lost puppy.’’ She looked hurt by your words but you couldn’t care less.
Tony barged forward. ‘’We cared for you!’’ Pointing an accusing finger your way. ‘’Did you care about me when you deleted all my files within twenty-four hours after you left me to die?’’ He seemed to be taken back by that. ‘’Oh yeah I know about that, because I escaped and I came back to the tower and tried to get in but I was denied access.’’ The anger on Tony’s face could be seen as terrifying for some, but you were ready for him.
While Tony dropped his act of portraying clueless, Natasha looked confused. But not at you but at Tony. ‘’Tony?’’ She started and that was enough for you. ‘’He didn’t told you, did he.’’ You scoffed again. ‘’And you still made her work with you. You still made her believe every lie you sold her.’’ Walking backwards so you were standing in between Bucky and Steve.
Your hands were shaking, feeling conflicted of all the thoughts that roamed your mind. Angry at Tony, loathing his very being but confused of your feelings towards Natasha. She knew but at the same time she didn’t. ‘’Leave, before any of you gets hurt.’’ You said with an hallow voice.
Throwing a warning look to Natasha and a death glare to Tony. ‘’I came here to finish what I started months ago.’’ Holding your head high, unfazed of his treat to the two man standing next to you. ‘’Meaning ending the two remaining super soldiers and stopping Hydra for a second time?’’ Noticing both Bucky and Steve tensing up in your peripheral vision, realising they never knew the real intention why you were at the base.
Closing the mask of his suit and loading the blasters in his hands. ‘’But now I will have to stop one more.’’ Before any of you was ably to say something he shot at you. Steve was faster to react than you, while he saw it coming you still hoped he could never harm you.
Before the blast could hit you Steve had pulled you away. Shocked and hurt you looked at Tony, the man who once looked like a father figure to you, just betrayed you. Out of anger you threw anything you could at him.
Sending him back with a telekinetic blast he landed hard against a wall. But as long as he was wearing his suit, it wouldn’t hurt him. ‘’Why don’t you fight like a real man and take off your mask!’’ You yelled at him, pulling on the parts of his suite with your telekinesis.
He opened his mask and grinned at you. ‘’Then lets make it fair.’’ He bite back, giving you an answer you didn’t like a bit. He managed to pull out a small remote and held it up. ‘’It would be only fair if you lost your powers.’’ He pressed one of the buttons and the air seemed to change.
As if the air began to pulsate, your muscles started to tense up, loosing your grip on Tony. It felt like the bracelet Steve had made you wear, but this one was stronger. But it wasn’t strong enough. ‘’You really think your tech can stop me?’’ You asked him in a defiant way.
Tony raised his hand to fire again but he couldn’t get it above his hip. ‘’What the,’’ he said more to himself. In a second his armour was ripped from his body by unseen forces. Leaving him unprotected. ‘’I will let you feel what I felt, I will let you walk trough the same hell I did!’’ The sound of your voice bounced off the walls.
Trying to fight the grip you had on him, Tony struggled until he fell to his knees, screaming in pain. ‘’While I was here I learned a trick or two.’’ Taking small steps toward him, never breaking eye contact. ‘’Because unlike you, Steve cared for me and not for my powers. He helped me get stronger while you held me back.’’ Fear flashed trough his eyes. ‘’You only used me to get what you wanted.’’ Now standing before him, watching how he suffered, you felt nothing. Just like he felt nothing when he left you in the file room with Bucky.
Tony’s screams could be heard trough the entirety of the base, alarming both Steve and Bucky. Natasha hadn’t put up a fight and surrendered herself, realising what she had done was wrong. The three of them ran towards the sound of his screams. ‘’Doll,’’ Steve started softly, trying to get your attention.
Even though his voice was just above a whisper, you heard him as if he was standing next to you. Looking over your shoulder, seeing the fear in Steve’s eyes. Not from fearing you might kill Tony but that you had become someone you were not.
All the tension in your body fell and you dropped to hold you had on Tony. Looking back at him you spoke. ‘’If I were you, I would leave and stay on your side of the city.’’ Turning your back to him, ready to be reunited with Steve.
Turning your back on the enemy was never a wise decision, even this time. Tony grabbed one of his gloves and raised it to shoot one final time. Trying to kill you in the process, but you were smarter than that.  With a flick of your wrist you broke his arm. A loud snap could be heard when it broke. ‘’That’s enough Tony!’’ Natasha said, walking towards him. ‘’You have done enough damage, we are leaving.’’ She pulled him up and dragged him away. As she left she apologised a couple more times, but it fell into deaf ears.
All the built up emotions had taken their toll on you. Tears filled your eyes and one by one they rolled down your cheeks. In a heartbeat Steve stood in front of, his hands on your cheeks. ‘’For a second I thought I had lost you.’’ He whispered, placing his forehead on yours. His voice shaky and his eyes puffy. ‘’You will never lose me,’’ Looking up at him, wiping away a stray tear. ‘’For you are my home.’’ Pulling him in, you kissed him as if it was your last.

The pain, the hurt and the feeling of betrayal
Tumblr media
Pairing: Hydra!Steve X Avenger!reader
Summary: After the events of Civil War, Steve takes over Hydra. When a mission goes bad and you are left in the hands of former captain America, what will he do with you.
Warnings: Dark!Steve or at least I am trying to, violence, torture, abuse? Blood? Language, fluff?
(is it noticeable that I am terrible at labelling warnings?)
Word count: 8789
After what happened at the airport in Germany, the world was torn apart. Half of the original Avengers were either incarcerated or on the run. Rumour has it that Steve Rogers, former known as Captain America, had taken over Hydra. With the Winter Soldier as his right hand, but no one could confirm those theories.
The world needed a new set of Heroes now that the original team had been thinned out. But, after what had happened, they found it difficult to trust new people. But they trusted you in some way.
A little after the events, you were recruited. You had crossed their radars, because of the power you wielded. After an outburst at the City Hall, Tony had taken interest in your powers.
Sitting in the interrogation room, hands cuffed to the table, waiting for the officer to come back. It hadn’t been your intentions to get arrested while going to City Hall, but here you were. The door of the room opened and an officer walked in. ‘’Miss,’’ The man said with a sigh, as he took a seat in front of you.
Looking at the man with a blank expression, you awaited for what he had to say. ‘’What happened at City Hall?’’ You only shrugged, knowing he was well aware of what had happened. ‘’Listen, we both know it was your doing shattering the window’s, I want to know why you did it.’’ He closed the folder he had opened earlier.
‘’I didn’t mean to shatter every window, it was an accident.’’ You softly spoke, looking down at your cuddled hands. ‘’I just got so angry and I couldn’t control it any longer.’’ You added, avoiding eye contact with the officer. ‘’Well, you are a lucky kid cause your bail has been paid in full as well as the bill for the damage.’’ The officer announced, causing you to perk your head up.
You've been on your own since the day your parents abandoned you. No one that looked after you, no one that cared. ‘’Your guardian will be here shortly.’’ The officer said before walking out the room leaving you both surprised and anxious.
One leg bouncing underneath the table and fingers tapping on the table. The tension was building up in the room, so tick you could almost see it. After what seemed like hours, the door opened again and two men walked in. The officer form earlier and a middle aged man with hazelnut hair and matching eyes.
Of course you knew who that man was, hell, everyone knew who he was. Non other than Tony Stark.
Suspicion rose quickly, why was he here, why did he bailed you out and most importantly why did the officer call him your guardian. ‘’You must have many questions, but so do I.’’ Tony started while looking down at you. ‘’But I promise I will answer every question you have, but not here.’’ He said with a low chuckle, trying to lift the tension.
Now it has been a year and a half since Tony had bailed you out and took you in. Ever since that day you’ve been training with the remaining Avengers and became one of them. Each one starting to feel like family. ‘’Hey kiddo,’’ Tony said as he walked into the common-room. Sitting on the coughs with a cup of tea in hand, you watched out the window, taking in the view the city had to offer.
Lost in thought you kept gazing over the city. Your thoughts running a mile an hour. When you first got here, you’ve kept mostly to yourself. Afraid that one day they too would abandon you, just like your parents had done.
Taking your eyes from the view, you looked at Tony. ‘’Hey.’’ You said quietly before turning your attention back to the view. ‘’Everything alright?’’ His words filled with worry. The cough dipped in from Tony taking seat next to you. ‘’Just thinking.’’ You answered without looking away.
In a comfortable silence the two of you sat, enjoying the view. After some time you were the first to speak. ‘’I don’t know if I ever thanked you.’’ Tony looked at you with one brow raised. ‘’Thanked me for what?’’ You elaborated your response by shifting your focus from the city to Tony. ‘’For giving me a home.’’ His facial expression softened and a loving sigh left is lips.
He opened his arms as an invitation which you gladly excepted. Snuggling so close to his chest that you could smell is cologne. Like that you sat for a couple minutes before Natasha called you in for training. ‘’That’s my cue.’’ You said, while standing up and walking towards the gym.
Training with Natasha could be hell somedays. She knew no mercy. ‘’Again.’’ She yelled from her side of the gym. She had just retrieved her knifes, ready to send them flying back to you.
With out warning she started trowing them your way, not one, but two at once. Just before they knifes could hit you you either dodged them or send them flying back by using your telekinesis. ‘’Very good, now stop them.’’ She had already threw the next two before she had finished her sentence.
Eyes wide in shock you held up both hands. Outstretched towards the approaching knifes, stopping them mid air. ‘’I did it!’’ you yelled excitedly. You never learned to control your powers, they acted only on emotions and now you were in control.
Till late in the evening you and Natasha trained in hand to hand combat. Learning quick was your strong suit and soon enough you was close to being as good as Natasha.
After your second win of the night you called it a day. Two wins and five losses, still you were proud of yourself. Heading back to your room to take a shower and then a well deserved night of sleep followed.
The next morning you were awakened by F.R.I.D.A.Y, announcing your presence was required in the briefing room. Still half asleep you got dressed and made your way straight to the briefing room skipping breakfast.
After entering the room, you noticed everyone was waiting for your arrival. ‘’Thank you for joining us, sorry it is this early.’’ Tony announced, gesturing to an empty chair. You hadn't looked at the time after waking up.
Throwing a quick glance at the clock mounted on the wall it read, 6:15 am. A silent ‘’Oh.’’ departed your lips. Taking a seat you waited for the briefing to start.
Tony picked up a tabled and stood in front of a TV screen. ‘’We have conformation that Hydra is back.’’ A deadly silence fell in the room, looking from one face to the other you too remained still. On the screen were now numerous pictures showing.
One of the pictures was of an old abandoned building, a former Hydra base the Avengers had taken down years ago. ‘’And yes, the rumors are true,’’ Tony said with disbelief filling his words. Another pictured appeared on the screen, one of a man with dirty blonde hair and a short boxed beard to match.
What stood out the most for you were the man’s eyes. Deep and icy blue eyes you could get lost in. ‘’It’s being led by former Captain America, Steve Rogers.’’ Added Tony, bringing you out of your trance.
Taking in a deep breath Tony collected his next words. ‘’We need to take him down, and we are going to need all the man power we have.’’ He turned his head to your direction and locked eyes. ‘’That means you will be coming with. We could use your fighting skills and power. Maybe then we will stand a change against two super soldiers.’’ Both fear and excitement filled your body.
~
Everyone was seated in the quinjet, the silence was deafening. Tony had provided you with your own suit. A dark Navi blue suit with a simple design. A utility belt placed around your waist, holding your trowing knifes, two daggers and two pouches.
The plan was simple; get in, find the files with their plans and get out. But nothing was simple from the beginning.
Everything went wrong as soon as your feet touched the ground. Bullets were flying around your head, barley able to dodge them. Once every hydra soldier was taken care of there was a clear path inside.
Inside it almost looked deserted, it was a little too quiet for your liking. ‘’Tony, I don’t like this. There is no one here.’’ You spoke true the coms, sharing your observations with the others.
‘’Just keep going we need the information.’’ That was all Tony had to say in response. Shrugging off the feeling you couldn't quite put your finger on, you continued walking.
Being the first to find the file room, you searched for the correct files as quickly and quietly as you could. ‘’I have the files.’’ You whispered in the coms letting the team know. Turning around to walk back to the jet you were stopped by a figure in the doorframe.
Frozen in place you had hoped they hadn’t seen you. ‘’You are not leaving with those files, doll.’’ The figure's husky voice filled the room, raising the hairs on the back of your neck. A sigh left your lips. ‘’Oh, but I will, Sugar.’’ You taunted back.
Before charging forward, he let out a low chuckle from the back of his throat. Jolting forward as well, trying to ground him with your powers. It did not halt him, but it did slow him down. His grunt filled the room as he struggled against your telekinesis.
Pushing trough your invisible restrains, he found his footing and ran once again at full speed. A gulp leaving your lips once you felt your grip fall. Gaining a little more speed you slid down over the ground to glide in between his parted legs.
He soon realised what your plan was and grabbed you by your hair, dragging you back. His grip on your hair is so tight that it hurts your roots. A hiss leaving your lips.
Bringing up your legs you kick him in the chest, causing him to fall back. Letting go of your hair, freeing you from his grip. While he was unsteady for a second you get up and make a run for the door. With one hand on the handle and one still holding the files, you tried to get the door open but it wouldn’t budge.
Using your strength and power you tried to get the door of its hinges. A low chuckle filled the room. ‘’The door won’t open unless you have a key, Doll.’’ Your breath got caught in your throat and your face paled.
Looking over your shoulder you saw the man slowly walking towards you, knowing you were trapped in the room with him. Taking a deep breath to try and collect your thoughts. ‘’Kiddo, where are you?’’ Tony’s voice called over the coms, a hint of irritation in his voice.
‘’File room.’’ Your answer was hasty. With the man closing in on you fast, you had to think of something quick. Sliding the file underneath the door hoping Tony would find them. Turning around with your back to the door you braced yourself.
A cocky grin played around his lips. ‘’No where to run, little one.’’ The sultry edge in his voice sending shivers down your spine. ‘’We will see about that.’’ You muttered, before giving it your all.
Using your telekinetic liabilities to enhance your strength to match his. He lashed out with his metal arm but you stopped him mid swing, holding onto his fist. For a second he was caught off guard which you used in your advantage.
While you were fighting the metal arm soldier Tony had found the file room you said you were in. Before entering he saw the files on the ground, picking them up he looked at the files and then at the door.
Flipping trough the folder once to see if everything was in there, he closed it and left. Leaving you in the claws of the Winter soldier. Bucky had seen Tony trough the small window, there was no emotion in his eyes towards you. He saw Tony looking at you struggle to keep fighting and he had left you there.
A scream parted your lips as the Winter soldier slammed your head against a nearby wall. Both of you were bruised and bloody. As your vision blurred, a ringing in your ear increased, but you never gave up. ’’Yield little one, you're not going to win this fight.’’ The soldier spoke in your ear. ‘’Never!’’ You screamed as you send him flying across the room once more.
It took everything in you to keep fighting, to keep standing. Knees weak and head heavy. ‘’They will find me, and once they do,’’ Swaying on your spot and out of breath you continued. ‘’They will save me.’’ He knew the truth, he knew they weren’t coming for you. ‘’Keep saying that, and maybe it will come true.’’ The soldier said laughing.
Trough blurred vision it was nearly impossible to see your opponent. Now standing in front of you, he snaked his flesh hand around your neck and squeezed ever so slightly. A gasp was stuck in your throat. ‘’It’s over, he isn’t coming.’’ Your hands holding his wrists, but no strength left to push him away.
Slipping in and out of conscious you tried to look at him. With defeated eyes you pleaded. ‘’Just kill me already.’’ A smirk formed around his lips. ‘’Oh no doll, I think the Captain might like you.’’ His words were dark and sinister, fear screaming trough your body causing you to black out completely.
~
After what felt like forever you woke up in an unrecognisable room. Vision still blurry and your mind foggy. The room was bright, too bright to keep your tired eyes open for too long. It was cold and the surface on which you lay was hard. With great difficulty you manage to sit up. Every muscle in your body aches.
After blinking a couple times your vision became clear. The brightness in the room seemed to lesson. With no recognition of how you got there you took in your surroundings.
The room you were in was a glass box, four glass walls reaching to the ceiling and a concrete floor on which you lay. Dressed in a dark blue shirt and shorts with no shoes. Looking yourself up and down you noticed the deep dark purple marks.
Memories from the last events came rushing back as if you were hit by a brick. Panic settled in your body, triggering your fight or flight. After standing up to quickly nausea took ahold of you, stopping you in moving further. Lightheaded and temporarily lost of sight followed soon after.
After that feeling had past and you recollected your balance, you tried to get out of the cell. Slamming your fist on the glass as hard as you can. Knowing it wouldn’t shatter at first impact, still hoping for it to crack. Using all your strength you hit the glass again and again. Trowing every inch of your telekinetic power into each punch.
Knuckles red from impact, sight blinded by both rage and determination. Little cracks formed into the glass and after one more hit powered by your telekinetic power it shattered.
Glass splinters fell down around your bare feet like rain. Mentally pushing the glass shards away to form a path for you to walk. There was only one door in the room, and by the alarm that went off, it wouldn’t be much longer before it opened.
With nothing but your telekinesis to defend yourself you waited for what to come. The door to the room you were in opened. Getting ready to fight you took your stand. First a set of soldiers ran inside, weapons raised. They were holding baton like weapons and by the sound they produced, they were charged with electricity.
Once the last soldier entered the room they circled around you, like a lions hunting their pray. They careful took one step after the other, cautious, almost afraid. Not soon after, the Winter soldier stepped foot inside the room.
He kept a close eye on you, ready to defend or attack. Standing away from the door leaving it open en unprotected. When neither men spoke or moved you grew wary. After a minute or two another pair of footsteps could be heard walking towards the room. It gave you a split second to think of an escape plan.
It wasn’t the best plan, but staying here wasn’t an option either. With on blast of telekinetic energy you send the soldiers flying, the Winter soldier however stayed grounded. Inching back a few feet.
Trying to make a run for it, you ran out of the room only to be stopped by hitting something. Or rather someone. Looking up from the broad wall of muscle you hit, you were met with a stern looking pair of blue eyes you’ve seen before.
Only now you could see from up close that they held specks of green. They could only belong to Steve Rogers himself. After a moment you let out a breath you didn’t know you were holding. Eyes wide in shock, his dominant demeanor having some sort effect on you.
Before he could react you sent him backwards, not far but just enough to get away from him. Although your good intentions on getting away from one super soldier, the other was already standing by. Knowing you would pull a stunt like this.
As you turned around, you fell into the arms of Bucky. “Not so fast doll.” He said while holding you tightly. Stubborn as ever you tried to get away. Bringing your knee up to his groin. Super soldier or not he was still a man, bending double from pain. A groan mixed of pain and anger passing from his lips.
For a second he had let you go. Not waisting precious time you kicked him in the face to send him to the ground. Knowing Steve was still behind you, there was only one way to go and that was away from them.
The patter of bare feet filled the halls. Every wall, floor and ceiling was made from cement, just like your cell had been. Slowly the adrenaline wore off and the pain settled back in. A sting of pain shot trough your body, bringing you to your knees. Holding on to your painful side, trying to get your breath.
Back at the cell Steve looked at Bucky with an amusing smirk. ‘’I like her, she is feisty.’’ He said, his nose scrunching. ‘’I knew you would, punk.’’ Bucky replied looking down the hall you had disappeared into, still feeling the pain of your kicks.
Patting Bucky on his shoulder as an amusing chuckle left Steve’s mouth. ‘’I’m going to see how far she has made it.’’ His eyes blown with lust, loving the little cat and mouse game you decided to play.
The sound of approaching boots filled your ears. Fear shot true your body as you had an idea of who might be coming. With your forehead still against the floor, cooling your heated body down. Tiredness setting in, making it harder to find the will to keep going.
As if the sound of his footsteps coming closer wasn’t tormenting on its own he started to taunt. ‘’Come out, come out where ever you are, sweetheart.’’ Breath hitching in your throat and body tensed you got up and hid.
Not looking where you went, opening a random door and closing it fast, yet stealthy. Holding your breath hoping for him to pass. ‘’You can run but you cannot hide.’’ He sang, his footsteps halting.
Eyes widened in fear you stepped back. Trying not to make a sound you looked around. Scanning the room you were in, looking for a way out. To your luck there was a door on the opposite side of the room.
Sneaking towards the door, trying to open it. Only finding it to be locked. Looking closely to its lock, it appeared to be a simple lock. Prying it open by using your telekinesis it soon fell from its lock. Opening the door you were met with a cold breeze kissing your sore skin, leaving goosebumps.
A new found hope flared trough you and made a run for it. Not daring to look back you kept running, until you heard a door being slammed shut. A quick glance over your shoulder you saw it was Steve, who was now running towards you.
Steve knew you were in the room. Because of his enhanced abilities he could hear your heartbeat skipping behind the door. He did slightly underestimate you even after what he had seen you do already. When he walked into the room, he expected you to hide in a corner or under a table, but he was met with an open door.
He cursed under his breath and ran after you, slamming the door in the process out of frustration. Trying to pick up pace you made it for the tree line in the distance. Even with the head start you had Steve was coming closer each second.
Running until you couldn’t breath properly and until your legs gave out. Tripping over a loose branch sending you stumbling down falling into a ditch. A cry of pain parted your lips, giving away your exact location for Steve to find you.
Out of breath and on the verge of passing out you laid still as possible but Steve had already found you. ‘’Oh sweetheart.’’ He breathed out as he looked you up and down. Seeing your bruised body laying on the forrest ground.
Leaning down he picked you up bridal style, no strength left in you to fight him off this time. Walking back to the base, keeping you close to him. Tears spilling from your eyes, staining his tactical suit. ‘’Shh, it’s going to be alright, sweetheart.’’ He cooed, trying to calm you down. It did the opposite, causing you to panic until you blacked out.
Another dreamless night tormented you. Waking up once more uncomfortable, but this time you were provided with a thin mattress for you to lay on. The room was different then the first, most likely because you had destroyed the previous one.
This room had no windows or glass, it was a concrete box with a metal door. The door could only be opened from the outside. Most likely mechanical controlled. In one of the top corners there was a black bulb, assuming it was a camera.
A single light hung from the centre of the room, poorly illuminating the room. Looking yourself up and down once again, you noticed that all your injuries had been attended to. Sitting up was a painful proces.
Head heavy and painful. ‘’Let me out!’’ You yelled, knowing it was of no use, too tired to use your powers. Even screaming took more effort than you had anticipated. Out of breath you tried to lay back down.
Your whole body started to shiver, both from the cold and the tiredness that engulfed your body. Pulling your knees up to your chest, nourishing the little warmth it gave you.
With your head on your knees, not realising how much time had went by before the door opened with a buzz. Half passed out it took you a minute to register the man standing in front of you.
Kneeling down to meet your height, a pair of deep blue eyes observed your small form. ‘’You with me sweetheart?’’ The sound of his voice echoing trough your head. Reaching out his large hand to cup your cheek.
The touch made you flinch. Slapping his hand away, returning back to reality. ‘’Don’t fucking touch me.’’ You spat at him. He didn’t like that. At all. Reaching towards you again, but instead of cupping your cheek he grabbed you by your throat.
He pulled you forward and slightly upwards. ‘’Listen to me little girl, be grateful I haven’t done more to you. As long as you behave and do what I tell you to do, you won’t get punished.’’ His voice was low, you could almost hear his voice vibrating in his chest.
Fear shot through your body, eyes wide as you looked at him. ‘’Please let me go.’’ You manage the plead. ‘’Of course.’’ He said softly, kissing your forehead before releasing the hold on your throat.
He stood back up, taking a step back. ‘’Now, you must be hungry.’’ He held out his hand. Looking from him to his hand and back. Scared to take it, so you did nothing. With one stern look from Steve you took his hand. Scared of what might happen if you didn’t. ‘’Good girl. Now follow me.’’ With one pull he pulled you to your feet.
The first week in his captivity Steve mainly focused on you getting back to health. Feeding you three times a day and making sure you had enough exercise. When you were not in your cell, he or Bucky was always next to you. Making sure you wouldn’t try anything.
After the first day you did try to escape, but Steve had stopped you once again. ‘’My team will find me and once they do,’’ he had cut you off from talking by slapping you in the face. ‘’Keep telling yourself that little one. But they are not coming. They left you here.’’ You didn’t believe him then and you still didn’t.
Still hoping they were looking for you. That one day they would rescue you from this hell. But after a week they still hadn’t rescue you. After the first week they saw improvement in you. Once you were back to health and your powers were no longer weakened the training started.
Because of your training with the avengers your partner in sparring was always Bucky. In the first week of training you had tried to escape eight times. Two of them were almost successful.
Steve and Bucky had their hands full on you. In training you never gave in, fighting them as if you had a change. Taking all your anger out on them. Most of the trainings ended when you blacked out from exhaustion. And then the escape attempts.
Steve became more and more frustrated with you. He punished you like he promised he would do when ever you disobeyed him. You slept on the cold floor of your cell, no pillows nor a blanket. ‘’You are lucky I don’t take away your clothes too.’’ Had Steve threatened you.
After everything was stripped from your cell, your meals was next what he took away. Only surviving on a single piece of dry bread and a glass of water. The mental and health effects of your actions started to show. The extreme loss of weight, the reduction of muscle and the over all bad health.
It had been a month and a half, Steve was getting desperate. ‘’Doll, why don’t you be the good girl I know you can be?’’ He was sitting in front of you on the ground. Looking at him with anger filled eyes.
Gathering all of your strength you smirked before you sent him flying trough your cell. He hit the wall hard and fell to the floor, but it was not enough to knock him out. ‘’I’VE HAD ENOUGH!’’ His voice boomed through the cell, eyes white hot with anger.
In two long strides Steve stood before you. Fisting your hair and pulling you from the ground. The pain was barely bearable. Pained whimpers passing from your lips. Clawing against his hand but he would budge. Not bothered by your attempts to get free he dragged you out of your cell.
Not slowing his pas, he dragged you along. Your feet barely touching the floor, struggling to keep up. ‘’Please I’m sorry.’’ You tried to plead. ‘’Your a little too late for that, little one.’’ Hot tears were spilling from your eyes.
Scared out of your mind that this was the day he would kill you. That you went too far. Going deeper and deeper into the base he lead you to a lab. ‘’Please,’’ you tried to beg again.
Your pleads fell into deaf ears. Steve dragged you to a hospital bed and pushed you on. ‘’Please don’t kill me, I will be good, I swear.’’ He chuckled at your words. ‘’Oh I know you will be good. You just need to be thought a lesson.’’ Turning his back to you he walked towards a nearby table.
Picking something off the table before walking back. ‘’Only you need to be thought over and over again, don’t you doll.’’ He grabbed you and stared at you with dark eyes. ‘’But I’ve had enough with this little cat and mouse game of yours.’’ Your breath hitched in your throat. ‘’When will you realise that your so called ‘’family’’ isn’t coming to save you.’’ His other hand moved from your arm up to our chin when you tried to shake your head. ‘’They left you here, not caring what might happen to you.’’
Still in denial, you still hoped they would save you. They had to come for you, Tony treated you as the child he never had. If you weren’t training you were in the lab with him. Out of every one in the tower he trusted you with everything, passwords, codes and most importantly his tech.
The short period of time you had lived in the tower made you feel more at home and part of a family. The save feeling you had before the mission was long gone. All you felt now was fear.
New tears filled your eyes. ‘’Shh.’’ Cooed Steve, stroking your cheek with his thumb in calming circles. The worst of it was that it calmed you down enough for you to stop crying. ‘’We can’t have anymore escapes or incidents.’’ Steve said while he put something on your wrist. ‘’This bracelet, will suppress your powers.’’ Your eyes widened once the realisation of his words hit.
In a state of panic you tried to get him away from you by using your telekinese but nothing happened. After trying to push him away by hitting him in his chest you realised your strength wasn’t enhanced by your powers. ‘’I told you, doll. You are powerless now.’’ You shook your head. ‘’No.’’ You whispered defeated.
As long as you could remember you had your powers. It was what made you, you. And now that you didn’t had it anymore you felt empty. There was a part of you missing and it felt like there was a void within you.
An itch that you couldn’t scratch, it was there but way out of reach. ‘’It’s oke, I will take care of you.’’ His hand moved from your chin to the back of your neck to pull you to his chest. Sobbing in his chest you felt something in you brake.
A smirk formed on his lips that you couldn’t see. He knew you were breaking now that you didn’t had the one thing that made you feel safe. Without your powers you were just the scared little girl you were when you were living on the streets.
After weeks he finally held you in his arms, although it was a sweet moment it wasn’t perfect. At least not yet. ‘’I hate to say this, but you still need to be punished for your actions.’’ Your breathing quickened. ‘’No, no, no, please.’’ Shaking in his arms. ‘’You did this to yourself doll. If you only behaved, none of this would have happened.’’ Pulling away from you a bit to look into your eyes.
It pained him to look at your tear filled eyes. All puffy and red. ‘’Bucky will serve you your punishment.’’ He said shortly, turning away from you. The door to the lab opened and Bucky walked in. ‘’We are going to have some fun, sweets.’’ A sinister smirk plastered on his face.
Once he neared you, Steve whispered something in his ear before he grabbed your arm and dragged you out. Not having learned anything, you fought back. Trying to pull away from his grip but without your enhanced strength it was useless.
In the training room Bucky dropped you on your end of the mat and walked back to his spot. ‘’You know the rules, doll. Good luck.’’ He sent you a taunting wink, knowing you didn’t stand a change
Taking your stands, trying to look confident. Knowing you would never win this fight. Still being the stubborn and hot headed girl, you fight like you still had powers. Somewhere hoping you were stronger than you realised.
The first hit Bucky had landed on you made you fall back to the ground. Pain shot trough your head. Both from the punch and the fall. Getting back up with a groan you swung at him. He grabbed your arm and pulled you from your spot, literally throwing you across the mat.
A cry of pain filled the room. ‘’Please stop!’’ You begged, crawling back on your knees. The room seemed to spin around you. ‘’No change doll. You need to learn who is in control.’’ His voice was almost gentle but his punches were not so much.
You didn’t last longer than ten minutes before you were bloodied and bruised. Standing on unstable legs, vision blurred by both pain and blood. Darkness was closing in fast and you greeted it almost like an old friend. ‘’I surrender.’’ You managed to bring out trough ragged breath.
Blood spilling from your lips with every word. Your body was giving up, and you were oke with that. Feeling like you could finally rest now. Smiling as you choked on your own blood passing out and letting the darkness engulf you.
~
There was darkness at first, and then the darkness gradually faded to light. A ringing tone filled the air, eventually becoming a constant monotone beep. You couldn't feel your body; it was as if you were hovering over it. In fact, you couldn't feel anything. There is no pain or emotion.
After what felt like for ever, more sounds started to make it’s present known. Distinctive chatter could be heard as well as the soft snores. Your snores. Slowly you started to wake and gain consciousness.
Struggling to open your eyes, due your eyelids feeling heavy. The room in which you lay was to bright, a groan of annoyance escaped. ‘’Doll? Are you awake?’’ You heard a man say in the distance. The voice sounded familiar but you couldn’t place it.
After inhaling deeply a couple times you tried again to open your eyes. The room was still too bright so you closed your eyes. ‘’Too,’’ you managed to bring out. ‘’Bright.’’ Your voice was hoarse and mouth dry.
Not much later the lights of the room went out. ‘’Better?’’ The voice asked and you nodded. Keeping your eyes closed for a couple more minutes. After a while you noticed how cold the room actually was when a warm hand was placed over yours.
The contact made you jump a little but you were too tired to react. ‘’I’m not going to hurt you, doll.’’ The hand never leaving yours. ‘’But you did.’’ You whispered, starting te remember what happend. The man ignored your comment but spoke once you opened your eyes. ‘’You scared me for a second, I thought you had died.’’ You might as well had.
With tired and empty eyes you looked at Steve. He looked just as tired and you could swore there was a hint of remorse in his eyes. ‘’When Bucky carried you in the infirmary,’’ he stopped mid sentence, his voice cracking ever so slightly.
Heaving a breath as he continued. ‘’Don’t ever do that again, you are too precious to me to lose.’’ A frown formed on your face and a million questions followed. Before you could speak he interrupted. ‘’Don’t speak, you need to rest.’’ You tried to fight him but you were to weak. With a sigh you gave up and closed your eyes. Sleep wasn’t far away.
The next time you woke, you were alone. It gave you some time to look around and inspect your injuries. Your arms were covered in bruises and on your head you had some gauze. There was still an iron taste in your mouth from a split lip.
The soft surface on which you lay made you smile. Haven't laid on a proper bed for months. After some time you longed for a shower and a bathroom break. Not caring that you were hooked on numerous machines, you pulled out the cords and cables and sat on the edge of the bed.
With unsteady legs you navigated your way trough the room. Holding onto everything for extra stability. Once you had opened every door in the room you found a bathroom, equipped with a shower and a toilet.
Stripping down from the cloths you were wearing, letting it fall down and pool around your ankles. On the wall was a full length mirror, you were shocked by your own reflection. Not only were your armes bruised but your whole body. Deep blue and purple marks covered every inch.
Tears fell from your eyes and you wheeled away from your reflection, stepping into the shower. It was the first hot shower you had since your captivity. While the water loosened up your sore muscles your mind wandered around. Lost in thought time went on.
Steve had returned and was greeted with an empty room. The worst case scenario ran trough his head, you had escaped. In panic and anger he threw the chair he resonantly had sat in across the room.
The sound startled you. ‘’Steve?’’ You called out, not sure why you had called him. Out of fear or reassurance. Steve had heard your small voice. He opened the door to the bathroom. ‘’Doll, what are you doing out of bed?’’ He asked once he had stepped inside, invading your privacy.
Still hidden behind the curtain you answered. ‘’I’m taking a shower.’’ A chuckle filled the room. ‘’I can see that, but why didn’t you call me. You are a far to weak.’’ He grabbed a towel and held it at ready. ‘’I’m fine.’’ Your shaky and weakened voice betraying you.
Not did only your voice betray you but also your limbs, still feeling weak, your legs gave out. With a small squeak you landed on the tiled floor with a soft thud. “Doll.” Steve was quick to react and ripped away the curtain, revealing your bare body.
He gently placed the towel around you and helped you up. Of course you tried to struggle, feeling even more vulnerable than before. “Let me help you.” It sounded more like an order than anything els. So you let him to prevent further punishment.
He dried you off and dressed you in a set of clean clothes before helping you back to bed. “I hope you have learned your lesson.” He said after some time. Evading his gaze you looked at your hands instead.
“Did you.” He asked again, this time more stern. Your voice betraying you once again so you nodded. “Use your words, doll.” Taking a deep breath you tried again. “Yes, I’ve learned my lesson.” You looked up at him and he looked almost proud. “Good girl, now get some rest. I’ll be back soon with some food.” He cupped your cheek shortly before leaving the room.
Once he left you broke down in tears and soft sobs until you cried yourself to sleep. Losing more and more hope of ever getting out of here.
~
you had promised Steve to be good, and so far you had kept that promise. Steve also held onto his promise, when you were good you would get rewarded. It started off small. You got your blanket back, then your matras and your pillow.
After not having tried to escape for a month you got a bedframe. Also your meals became better and more tasteful, next were clothes and hot showers. Steve had never forced himself on you but he became more touchy.
When every the two of you walked through the base he had his arm around you, or guided you along by holding the base of your neck. Soon enough you were craving his touch and you would hold his hand on the occasion.
Missing the warmth of him when was gone. Time became a non exciting concept, you never got to set foot outside. Apparently it had been a year since they had taken you and Steve had something special planned.
The morning of he gave you a new set of clothes. Jeans, hoodie and new shoes. It was different from what you normally got to wear. Before it was leggings and t-shirts. ‘’Get dressed, I want to take you somewhere.’’ Had Steve informed you.
Curiously you looked at the outfit laying in front of you. After some overthinking and almost slipping into a panic attack you got dressed. Not much after Steve returned and led you outside. Not just out of your room but outside of the base.
Steve was hesitant at first, afraid that you would try to run again. But when he saw you scared to step outside he knew he had broken you. That you wouldn’t try to run anymore, that you were his obedient little girl. “It’s oké doll, I know you won’t run.” He held out his hand for you to take.
carefully you took his hand and let him guide you to a car. The ride itself was spend in a comfortable silence. Taking in the outside world and letting the wind mess up your hair trough the open window. It all brought a smile on your face.
The end destination was downtown New York. ‘’I’ve some business that I need to attent to here and I thought I would bring you along.’’ Glancing at you quickly before looking back on the road. ‘’As a reward for being such a good girl.’’ He placed his hand on your thigh and gave it a squeeze.
Steve asked you to stay close to him at all cost. And that is what you did. Somewhat scared of the many people roaming the streets of Manhattan. Steve was meeting an accomplice for a public transfer of information.
‘’Why don’t get something to eat from that stand.’’ He said in a matter of fact tone and nodded to a food stand. ‘’Stay in my sight.’’ He handed you a ten dollar bill and you nodded. ‘’Of course.’’ You said and took the money.
While waiting in line you look around and your gaze found the Stark tower. Anger started to form from deep within you. So strong it broke the bracelet that was suppose to suppress your powers. The metal fell in two pieces on the ground with a small ting sound.
Steve kept an eye on you, like a hawk. However he did not notice the bracelet breaking. You needed to get out of there, away from Steve. If you left right then and there he would have been on you in seconds. You needed him distracted.
You watch the exchange closely. The man he was suppose to meet was about to hand over a folder, the perfect distraction. With a simple flick of the wrist you send the folder flying. Not to far to raise any questions but enough the guid Steve’s gaze away from you.
In that moment when his gaze was gone you made a run for it. Not looking back and hoping he wouldn’t notice, but he did. In a matter of time they secured the file that had blown away.
The second Steve held the file in his hands he looked back to see if you were still there. But you weren’t. Blinded by rage he pushed the files back to the man and told him to get it to the base himself. Already knowing where you would be he set course to the tower.
Out of breath you got at the entrance of the tower, trying to get in by fingerprint code. But your acces was denied. ‘’What?’’ You asked yourself quietly. “Friday, allow access by verbal passcode.” The I.A system did respond. “4720” you spoke load and clear. “Acces denied.”
After trying two more times you tried with yet another method. “Friday, it’s me!” You said your name and alias but was still denied acces. “There seems to be a problem, there is no one that match your name in the system.” Friday said. “Show me all the personal files,” A single tear fell from your eyes, scared of the results.
“I am afraid you don’t have the authority for that request.” Taking a deep breath you followed. “Override authority protocol by password.” After entering the correct password you were allowed acces to the personal files.
Friday was right, your files were missing. Panic started to build in your chest, you knew you had a file. You had seen Tony create it. “Show me all deleted files, dating back a year and a half.” Friday pulled up all deleted files and to your shock yours was located there.
Looking at the date of deletion your heart sank trough the ground. It was deleted within twenty four hours of your capturing. Shaking on the spot you now realised Steve had been right all along. They never cared about you. “Friday, start reboot protocol, acces password,” you entered the password that would soon start a total program blackout and reboot, leaving the tower unarmed and down for forty eight hours.
Numb by pain and sadness you turned around to walk back and find Steve. He was the only one who actually cared for you. Your search was short-lived as he was walking straight to you.
His fist were clenched and his eyes were dangerously darkened by anger. Nearing him you led out a couple of sobs. Body trembling from being overstimulated by emotions. Not giving him a change to speak you closed the gab between you two and hugged him tight. Breaking down in his arms.
Taken back by your actions, it took him a second to respond. After realising what was happening he threw his arms around you, holding you close. Rubbing absent circles on your back in a sooting manner, trying to calm you down enough to talk.
After the sobs had gone quit and the waterflow of tears lessend you spoke between hiccups. ‘’You were right, all along.’’ between sniffing and the sobbing you pulled away just a little to look up at Steve. ‘’I’m sorry for braking the bracelet and for running away, I will take any punishment you see fit, but I would like to go home now.’’ You said, snuggling back into his chest.
Hearing you say all that made his heart skip a beat. You were finally his in every aspect. ‘’It’s oke, doll. No punishments this time.’’ Stroking your hair softly, he placed a kiss on the top of your head. ‘’Let’s go home.’’
The drive back you kept mostly to yourself. Knees pulled up to your chest, looking aimlessly outside. Zoned-out you didn’t notice that the car had stopped. ‘’Doll?’’ Steve shook your shoulder gently to snap you back to reality.
Blinking a few times you looked around, taking in your surroundings. In the time Steve drove back the sun had already set upon the horizon. ‘’Sorry.’’ Your voice was soft and throat raw from crying. ‘’No need to apologise, we are home.’’ He got out of the car and walked around the car to open the door for you.
Helping you out of the car he led you back inside the base. Keeping your eyes drawn to the floor most of the walk, still afraid of the punishment ahead. The walk led to your cel but instead of stopping in front of the door, Steve kept walking. Pulling you along by the hold on your neck.
Looking back up, you noticed he skipped your cell. Fear set back into your body and you started to shake vigorously. ‘’Don’t be afraid, little one. You’ll sleep in a new room.’’ Although he meant well, his words didn’t calm you down.
He notice that you started to panic more. Standing in front of you, holding your face in his hands. ‘’Look at me.’’ He said gently. After some hesitation your eyes met his. ‘’Good girl.’’ His praise made you feel warm inside, happy that you made him proud with something so small. ‘’You will never have to sleep in that cell ever again.’’ Watching him intently, while some silent tears fell down your face.
His thumbs stroke away the tears. ‘’I have made a room for you. I will show you.’’ After kissing your head he lead you to the room he was talking about. Entering the room you took a moment to take it all in.
The room was well lit, the ceiling had a wooden finish and the interior had an urban touch to it. The walls were supported by metal beams and the floor to ceiling windows showed the outside. A beautiful grass landscape, reaching to the tree lines in the far distance.
‘’Why don’t you take a shower, I will be back soon with some new cloths.’’ Not knowing what to say you gave him a nod. Heading into the shower to let the warm water wash away everything.
The pain, the hurt and the feeling of betrayal. The man out there, looking for new cloths, had nothing but hostile for you. Sure his methods were unusual but you wouldn’t see the bigger picture at first. Tony never cared about you, he only wanted you for your powers and skill.
And when you got into a situation were he needed to risk his life for yours, he bailed and showed his true colours. Steve had cared for you the moment he laid eyes on you trough the surveillance camera’s.
He could have let you die when Bucky punished you a bit too hard, but he didn’t. He saved you. He gave you a home and you were blind to see every good intention he had.
Lost in the rabbit hole that you called your thoughts, you jumped a little when someone knocked on the door. ‘’I got you some comfy pyjama’s.’’ Steve’s voice sounded from outside the door. ‘’Leave them here on the counter.’’ You said before adding. ‘’Please.’’
~
Steve was siting on the end of the bed. Waiting for you to come out of the bathroom. ‘’Why didn’t use your powers to get inside the tower?’’ Steve questioned, he had wondered that from the moment he had found the bracelet on the ground. ‘’I am strong, but not strong enough to take them all out. That’s is why I rebooted the system instead.’’ You confessed.
Steve eyed you mesmerised with pride. ‘’It will leave them in a total black out for two days. Then they need to build back the A.I systems code from almost scratch. It will take Stark at least a week or two to get back in business.’’ You kept on rambling. Steve listening attentively.
All of sudden you felt tired, a yawn escaped you. ‘’Get some rest.’’ Steve said, standing up and leading you to bed. Helping you under the covers. ‘’Goodnight doll.’’ Bowing down to kiss your head once more before leaving.
Shutting off the lights and about the close the door your voice stopped him in his tracks. ‘’Will you stay with me.’’ It was so soft it was barely audible but with Steves enhanced hearing he heard you loud as day. ‘’I don’t want to be alone.’’ You added, new tears forming in your eyes. ‘’Of course.’’
Steve got in to bed next to you. Before he even lay, you turned around and snuggled closely in his side. Steve, happier than ever, threw his arm around you and pulled you close as possible.
From that moment on, you never slept alone, always by Steve’s side. In the day you trained to become a better and stronger soldier. Soon becoming Hydra’s best asset. You were besides the Winter soldier the most feared soldier.

Navigating through a room filled with black smoke, I looked for the door. My lungs filled with smoke and my eyes full of tears I struggled to kick in the door. The silhouette of a woman was barely visible. I ran in and helped the woman to her feet. With one arm around her waist and the other I held her arm, which was over my shoulders. At walking pace we walked through the corridors to the main entrance. I let her go a few meters before the entrance. Saying she had to move on herself.
I turned around and walked back to the room from which I had entered. Looking back, the woman tried to identify me but all she saw was the logo on my jacket. The reaper.
With my whole body wrapped in cold sweat, I shot straight up in my bed. Gasping and coughing, I panicked and tried to look around but everything was dark. Tears came to my eyes when I found out it was a dream. After I had calmed down, I put my feet next to my bed. I stroke over my clock on my bedside table for the time, half past two. With a sigh I got to my feet and walked more cautiously to the kitchen.
Navigating through the hall with one hand on the wall, I found my way. In the kitchen, I took a glass from the counter and filled it with water. I felt the cool liquid slide down my throat. I thought back to my dream, I couldn't remember much of it, but from the way I woke up I had an inkling of what it was about.
I had no regrets about the day or the things I did. Maybe if I had kept walking, my life would have looked different now. A second pair of footsteps came down the stairs, faster than mine. They walked into the kitchen and stopped there. ‘’Jax?’’ I asked out loud. The footsteps could only belong to one person, my brother. ‘’I'm here, darlin’. Another nightmare?’’ I nodded slowly. I heard Jax approach, he pulled me closer and put his arms around me. ‘’I wish I could do something about it, I hate to see you like this.’’ With my arms around his waist, I buried myself in his chest. ‘’It will be okay.’’ It came out less believable than I had hoped.
Jax heard the disappointment in my voice. ‘’I wish I could sit with you on the couch, waiting for you to fall asleep again but the club needs me.’’ I pulled away from him and put a hand on his cheek. ‘’Go, I'll see you later today.’’ I squeezed his cheek softly and smiled. With a kiss on my crown he walked to the door, there he stopped and called. "Will you call when you arrive?" After my accident, he was very protective even though he knew I could take care of myself. ‘’I'll be fine, I'll ride with Mom.’’ I shouted after him. The door slammed back into the lock. With a deep sigh, I refilled my glass with water and then found my way to the couch. I made myself comfortable and started a podcast that I listened to until I fell back asleep.
Later that morning, I was awakened by my mother. "Honey wake up, I'm leaving in thirty minutes." Slowly I woke up. I opened my eyes with a dull feeling. Sitting upright, I felt for the TV remote and paused the podcast. I rubbed my eyes extensively but gently. In the kitchen my mother was busy making coffee and as soon as she had her cup she went straight to the club, which meant that I had to hurry.
Feeling through my closet for the right combination, all my clothes were divided into compartments. Pants, T-shirts, tops, cardigans, blouses and even dresses. Separated by small edges at the top of the railing. My outfit for the day was simple, jeans with a T-shirt and flannel blouse. My shoes were down by the door. Before I left my room I grabbed my cane and sunglasses.
Downstairs my mother had a cup of coffee ready for me. ‘’Drink up." She handed me my mug. ‘’Thank you, Jax is already at the clubhouse.’’ I gave her the heads up. ‘’I suspected it.’’ She looked over her shoulder. I stood against the counter and drank my coffee. Listening to the movements my mother made and the vibrations I felt under my feet, I got the feeling that she was stressed. ‘’Is something wrong, Mom?’’ With my mug between both hands, I looked in the direction I thought she was standing. ‘’The garage, there is another customer who is difficult and your father," she stopped mid-sentence. My father was Clay Morrow, Jax was John Teller's son.
My dad ran the Sons of Anarchy, it was sometimes hard for my mom to agree with some of the decisions but she was 100 percent behind him. ‘’Dad knows what he's doing and we have to trust that.’’ I placed my now empty mug on the counter. ‘’I know, and I do.’’ She stopped and thought. ‘’Let's just go.’’ She said finally. I nodded and walked to the door. Before I left the house I put on my ankle boots and slipped into my denim jacket with my Sons vest over it. Matching my brothers style.
The ride to the club was not long, the sound of the engine filling my ears. The wind blew through my hair through the open window, with my face turned out I felt the rising sun warm my face. The radio echoed softly in the background. With my thoughts elsewhere, I didn't realize we were already there. The car had been parked for a few minutes. My mother taps my arm gently. ‘’Hey, we're here.’’ Blinking my eyes, I sat straight up in the chair. ‘’Thanks for the lift.’’ With a smile, I opened the passenger door and got out.
Always parked in the same place, the same way. Parked backwards in the parkingspot so the passenger was facing the club. That way I knew immediately where to go without asking. ‘’If you need me, I'll be in the office.’’ My mother called from her side of the car. ‘’Okay, I'll come by later, I think.’’ She nodded and walked to the office, without my knowing, I continued my way to the entrance of the club.
Inside, Tig, Chibs and Oppie were sitting at the bar, with Half Sack as the bartender. The four men greeted me one by one. ‘’Hey there Doll.’’ Tig was the first to get up and walk over to me. With one hand on my cheek he gave a kiss on my crown. The goatee on his chin tickled my forehead that made me giggle. ‘’Hey Tig.’’ I said with a big smile on my face. Tig and I were always very close, now worse than ever. People sometimes thought we were together, maybe if he had been a little younger or if I was a little older who knows. Age didn't matter, but deep down twenty years was quite a lot. When Jax wasn't around, Tig was the first to stand up for me and be capable of anything.
Chibs sat at the bar and greeted me candidly. ‘’Oi, love.’’ Chibs was barely understood with his accent and he only said two words. For hours I could listen to him, talking about one of his many stories. The way he told it combined with his accent was everything I lived for. He often talked about his life back in Belfast. The place where he grew up in Northern Ireland.
On the other hand, Opie got up and greeted me with a hug. ‘’Hey kiddo.’’ His arms folded around me. ‘’Good to hear from you again.’’ Opie was on a ride with a few other members and was gone for four days. He was like a brother to me. The three of us grew up. It was always Jax, Opie and myself. ‘’I missed you.’’ I whispered into his chest. His grip around me tightened a little. ‘’Missed you too.’’ He whispered back.
The door behind us opened and by the way and sound of how they walked, Jax emerged from the chapel. ‘’Okay, listen, everyone is expected in the chapel.’’ Opie turned to Jax and stepped aside to show that I was there too. ‘’Hey.’’ Jax said with a smile in his voice. ‘’I'll have a very important job for you.’’ He stopped in front of me and put his hands on my shoulders. ‘’Oh, really?’’ I looked at him with a tilted head. ‘’Yes, we are getting a new prospect this afternoon. But there is no one who can put him in his place.’’ I had to chuckle the way Jax conveyed it.
Whenever a new prospect came into the club, we treated them like he was less than us, that way we taught them to stand up for themself. Life in a motor club was not easy, the violence, the blood we had on our hands. ‘’So ...’’ he stretched the words. ‘’I was thinking about you, they need to know who to really fear.’’ I laughed. ‘’Okay, I have to do some shopping before the next lockdown, because someone forgot.’’ I emphasized someone and patted him on the chest. ‘’I had Half,’’ I interrupted before placing the blame on the prospect. ‘’No, it doesn't work that way, it was your job and now I can do it.’’ With one hand on my hip, I looked at him. ‘’Sorry, sister.’’ He spoke honestly. ‘’The things I will do for you.’’ I said with a sigh.
Before I closed the club doors behind me, I heard Jax say. ‘’Kip, go with her.’’ And moments after, Kip, also known as Half Sack, came running out. ‘’Hey, wait a minute.’’ He called as he tried to keep up with me. ‘’It's sweet of you, but I can go shopping alone.’’ A panting Kip walked up next to me. ‘’But who will help you with lifting the groceries, do you know how much you have to take back?’’ enough to feed an entire orphanage. ‘’Fine.’’ I said briefly.
I didn’t want Kip to drive us. It was not because I didn’t trust him in a car but I liked to walk. ‘’What do you think they are talking about back at the club?’’ Kip asked out of nowhere. ‘’I don’t know, if it is important we will know soon enough.’’ I answered his question, shrugging my shoulders. Important or not Jax would tell me anyway.
The club was under some stress with the Niners, the police were on our backs and my dad and Jax weren’t speaking on the same page. There was a lot they could have been talking about. On the occasion I was allowed in the chapel, be present by the meeting and be able to vote. Every other time I was not, Jax would always fill me in later on in the day.
The grocery shopping took for ever, people that were complaining that it took me to long to choose a product or that I hit them with my cain. One man, in his late thirties, was ready to start a fight and I was having none of it. Getting more and more angry, not of the fact that he accused me of anything because of my blindness but of my vest.
He was mansplaining me that women didn’t belong in the club and that we were only good for getting beer and sex. It took everything in me not to hit him but I got close. Kip did had to hold me back before I did. ‘’All I am saying is that it women belong in the kitchen not in the club itself and don’t get me started on women wearing the vest.’’ before I handed Kip my cain I checked where the men was standing. ‘’Hold this.’’ I said and let go of I it and took a step forward.
Kip who knew me and what I was capable of, jumped into action and wrapped his arms around my waist holding me back. ‘’If I were you, you should shut up and leave. Blind or not she has a mean right hook.’’ Kip warned the man. The man looked at me, but before he could protest he was asked to leave by the staff of the grocery shop. ‘’I am so sorry ma’am.’’ The young lady of the staff said. I smiled nicely at her. ‘’It’s oké.’’ And continued looking for everything else we needed.
After paying and double checking if we had everything we headed back to the club. Kip was carrying more then he could and I had two bags. ‘’Don’t you think we may have bought to much?’’ he had difficulty walking due the extra wight. ‘’No, with those animals, you can never have enough.’’ I thought back to a couple lockdowns back, we had enough to last two weeks. One week in and the kitchen was empty.
The prospect arrived just after Kip and I had left. The young man in his late twenties of Puerto Rican descent with a mohawk and head tattoos reported to my mother in her office. A soft knock could be heard on the door. ‘’Come in.’’ Gemma called from within the room. Carefully he opened the door and stepped into the small office. Gemma turned herself in her chair and looked at the young man. ‘’I'm looking for Jax Teller. Do you know where I can find him?’’ He immediately got into business. ‘’And who may you be?’’ She asked uninterested, ignoring his question. ‘’My name is Juan Ortiz, I'm the new prospect.’’ He continued talking.
Gemma looked him up and down. ‘’Great.’’ she said and stood up. ‘’Sit’’ She said as if he was a dog and walked out. He did what she said and took a seat in one of the chairs next to the desk. ‘’Don’t touch anything.’’ Gemma said before walking out the door, heading to the clubhouse.
We entered the parking lot of the club and headed inside. ‘’Maybe we should have taken the car.’’ I said as the realization hit me. My feet were sore and I felt bad for Kip. ‘’Need a drink?’’ I asked him, placing the bags on the pool table.
Kip placed his bags on the table as well and made a relieving sound. ‘’I can’t feel my arms anymore, and I am not allowed to drink, yet.’’ he said, pouting. It was one of Jax many weird rules, prospects don’t drink from the bar. ‘’Oh toughen up, what he doesn’t know won’t hurt him. Besides, I am the one who offers.’’ Making my way behind the bar.
Neither one of us knew my mother was in the chapel as well until they walked out. Kip was sitting on one of the bar stools and I stood behind the bar. Both a glass of whiskey in hand.  The door opened and every one walked out one by one. First my mother, followed by my brother and then the rest of the group.
The first thing Jax noticed was Kip drinking. ‘’What did I tell you,’’ he started but I stopped him. ‘’Shut up and let him have it. He deserved it.’’ I said trying to point him Jax his direction. Kip crabbed my arm and pointed it more to my left. Now I was pointing at Jax. Some chuckles filled the room, mostly of the others while Jax stood with an amused expression. I was the only one who could talk back to him like that.
After a good laugh my mother asked Jax to follow her. The others joined us at the bar for a drink. ‘’You know my poison, doll.’’ Tig said seductively and winked, while adding a sound effect. So I would now he winked, not that I wasn’t already thinking that.
I grabbed a bottle of beer from the fridge. Everything was labeled with braille, the shelves, the bottles, all to make my life easier. Placing the beer on the bar and before I could let go Tig already took it from me. ‘’Thank you, dear.’’ he said with the utmost sweet voice he could muster.
While we had fun in the clubhouse, talking and drinking, Jax walked back to the office with Gemma. Inside Juan still sitting on the chair, looking like a lost puppy. He noticed the two walking in and stood up immediately. ‘’I’m,’’ he started while holding out his hand, but Jax cut him off. ‘’Don’t care follow me.’’ Jax said and turned around to walk back to the clubhouse.
Every new prospect was treated like a no body when they first got here. The sooner you grew a pair and stood up against them the sooner you got treated as an equal. They both entered the room and all the heads turned to them. I stood still leaning against the bar looking ahead of me.
Neither of the guys spend much attention to Jax and kept talking. The two walked over to the bar, standing close to it to hear their conversation. ‘’One rule, don’t piss off the lady.’’ Jax said while pointing to me, knowing I could hear them. Juan followed his gaze and looked at me. ‘’I don’t see,’’ he started and a smirk played along my lips. Their it was, the one thing I hoped he would say. ‘’Well neither can I.’’ I said as the bitch I can be.
Everyone else tried to hold back their laughter. ‘’I’m sorry?’’ he asked a small panic in his voice, not realizing I was blind. ‘’What did he say about not pissn’ of the lady’’ Chibs said in the most Scottish way possible. The boy looked horrified. ‘’Well? What can’t you ‘’see’’?’’ I asked with quotation marks when I said see.
I looked in their directions, waiting for him to speak. ‘’I don’t see how I could piss of such lovely lady.’’ He stuttered a bit. Licking my lips I thought of what to say next, but I thought we had already scared him enough for now. ‘’Don’t worry, you don’t piss me off that easily.’’ I flashed him a soft smile.
But not everyone agreed with my statement because Tig snorted loudly. ‘’Watch it Trager, before I put real poison in your drink next time.’’ I shot him a death glare as I put down my sunglasses. He knew I didn’t mean any of it, and couldn’t help but laugh. ‘’You love me to much to have me dead, doll.’’ I shook my head and laughed, knowing it was true.
I turned back to Jax and Juan. ‘’Please take a seat.’’ I gestured to a hopefully empty stool. Jax excused him self and walked back into the chapel as his phone ringed. Juan took a seat and I pored him a glass of orange juice. ‘’Here you go.’’ I placed it on the bar and another fit of snickers and laughter erupted from the others. ‘’Orange juice?’’ He questioned.
Leaning with my elbows on the bar I turned to him. ‘’Got a problem with that?’’ I tried to look at him straight but failed, I ended up looking past him. ‘’No, not at all.’’ he said careful not knowing how els to respond. ‘’Good, so tell me, what is your name?’’ A playful smile lingered around my lips, the boy in front of me sounded to innocent and brought a different type of myself to the surface.
For a strange reason I felt comfortable around him, even tough we’ve just met. ‘’Juan Ortiz.’’ He held out his hand and waited for me to shake it. ‘’Yeah, we ain’t gonna call you that for ever.’’ Standing back up straight and ignoring his outstretched hand. Here most of us had a nick name or something els then our real name to go by. Most men just called me pet names in staid of my name.
Juan looked at me, more like staring at me. ‘’What is your problem?’’ He blurred out, realizing what he had said once it was to late. ‘’Excuse me?’’ I said turning my head once more in his direction. This time I meant being bitchy. The boys went silent and I could hear someone walking towards my side of the bar. ‘’Well you see,’’ I had to interrupt him then and there. ‘’That is my fucking problem, I CAN’T.’’ I said angry and ripped off my sunglasses tossing them god knows where.
I looked at him, my face exposed to him. It was the one thing I was insecure about, my eyes. The were pearl withe and glossy, but the skin around my eyes was red and burned. A gasp left his lips and he was lost of words. ‘’That’s what I thought.’’ I said and walked away, nearly tripping over someones feet. ‘’Sweetheart.’’ Tig tried to hold me back, he was standing behind me and it were his feet I tripped over. ‘’Don’t.’’ I said with a trembling voice.
I brushed past him and walked outside, forgetting my cain behind the bar. ‘’I.. I uhm didn’t know.’’ Juan started but didn’t know how to continue. ‘’It was kinda obvious, you could have seen her scaring, even whit sunglasses and there is braille everywhere.’’ Opie stated the obvious. Juan began to feel more guilty by the second. ‘’I should talk to her.’’ he started and looked for my sunglasses to give them back to me. ‘’I don’t think that’s the best idea.’’ Jax said, standing in the door frame leading to the chapel.
He walked over to Juan and took the glasses from him. ‘’Don’t take it personal. Losing her sight took a toll on her.’’ For the first time ever to a prospect, Jax spoke in a soft and empathic way. ‘’She wasn’t always blind?’’ He looked up at Jax, registering what he had said. ‘’No, and that is not my story to tell.’’ With a sigh Jax walked outside looking for me. Already knowing where I would be.
We both shared a lot of things, from music taste to disliking the same people and even our hiding place when things get to complicated. It was on the roof of the office, at first it was scary to climb the latter but now it didn’t bother me any more.
Hearing the familiar screeching of the latter I knew someone was coming up. A while back Jax had brought up two chairs to sit on so he took a seat next to me. ‘’What is wrong?’’ he asked worried. ‘’Everything.’’ I said in between sobs. Without saying another word he pulled me closer in to a tight hug. ‘’I didn’t mean to lash out to him like that.’’ I said after a while still crying my eyes out.
Somedays everything got to much to handle and I needed a good cry. ‘’He knows.’’ we sat like this till I completely calmed down. ‘’So, wanna tell me what happened at the store today?’’ I shook my head. ‘’Not really, it’s not worth it.’’ it really wasn’t I could take care of myself. ‘’Alright.’’ he said quietly.
Jax gave back my sunglasses and cain, we were about to head back inside when he was once again intercepted by the ringing of his phone. He looked at the caller ID and put the phone away. ‘’He can wait, family is more important.’’ He threw his arm around my shoulder. We entered the clubhouse and I took a seat on the cough.
The rest of the day went by rather quickly. Jax had yet another club thing to discus and my mother was also making over hours, so I asked Tig to drive me home. That night another nightmare corrupted my sleep.
Fire, everything was on fire. The walls, the floors. The heat alone was burning my skin. The smoke filling my lungs. Tears filled eyes, trying to find my way to the screaming women.
Finding her wasn’t the difficult part, it was getting out unnoticed what would be tricky. My mouth covered with my sleeve, searching for a way out. Climbing out the window I came in from.
With a gasp I jolted up straight. Panting heavily, crying softly. Cold sweat covered my body once again. Never had I nightmares of the accident that caused me to lose my vision, it was always what I had done to deserve it.
The nightmares got worse and worse each night. It would be seven years ago, in a couple days and the days leading to that anniversary, always took a toll on my mental health. At night I didn’t sleep and the day I tried to distract myself by bonding with Juan, who I kept calling Juicy or Juice. All because I still give him a glass of juice when we gather around the bar for drinks.
Not only did I feel worse each day but I looked worse too. Walking into the clubhouse I was greeted by Juice. ‘’He… oef you look like the dead.’’ he joked and kissed my cheek. ‘’Careful, before you are son.’’ Chibs said with a laugh in voice. I let out a tired laugh. ‘’Don’t worry, you are to adorable to kill.’’ I patted his chest before making my way to the cough and sitting down.
It was a slow day until Jax called everyone on a run. ‘’Alright, we are needed by our brothers in the town next door, so saddle up.’’ Jax looked around the room and saw sitting on the coughs with my knees to my chest and my chin resting on them. ‘’Juice,’’ he started waiting for the prospect to look up. ‘’I need you to stay here. I need some one here to look after my sister.’’ He too looked at me. ‘’Of course.’’ he said, at the time not knowing why it was so important for Jax.
I was so in my own thoughts that I didn’t catch a word of what had been said. I felt the couch sink in next to me. ‘’Hey, darlin’.’’ Jax said softly, placing a hand on my arm. ‘’Uh?’’ I asked turning my head to wards him. ‘’Did you heard what I just said?’’ he asked and I shook my head. ‘’The boys and I are leaving. Juice is staying here with you.’’ He explained.
I was to tired to argue so I nodded. ‘’Be careful.’’ I said as I hugged my brother. He wrapped his arms around me and pulled me as close as he could to his chest. ‘’When am I not?’’ He jokingly asked, causing me to laugh. ‘’Don’t get me started.’’ I had a list of the times he was everything but careful.
Every one got an hour to go home and pack, before meeting back at the club. Now everyone was ready to leave. Juice and me stood outside. I never let them leave without a hug. Once I couldn’t hear the roaring of their motors, we headed back inside.
Together we sat at the cough. ‘’What do you want to do?’’ Juice asked me, a little nervous. I could feel him bouncing his leg. ‘’Can we just listen to music. I don’t feel like doing anything.’’ I said between yawing. ‘’Sure.’’ he said and put on a playlist.
It didn’t last long before I fell asleep. My head fell on his shoulder and I tried to make myself comfortable. Juice looked down at me and smiled. He too noticed how tired I was lately, he tried to make me talk about it but I didn’t want to.
Juice tried to lay down on the cough without waking me. He took of my sunglasses and lay them on the table. Together we lay on the coughs, wrapped in each others arms. First it was a peaceful slumber but soon was corrupted by nightmares. I started to twitch slightly and murmur in my sleep.
Not knowing what was going on, Juice looked down on me again. ‘’Are you oke?’’ he asked quietly, but not getting a respond. The nightmare got only worse by the second and soon enough I screamed out in terror before waking up.
For a second I didn’t know where I was. Juice got up too and grabbed my hand. ‘’It was just a dream.’’ he said in a soft tone, trying to calm me down. ‘’What ever happened can not hurt you here.’’ He pulled me into a hug and held me till I stopped crying. ‘’Please talk to me about it. I hate to see you like this.’’ He wiped away the tears from my face.
I swallowed the lump in my throat and nodded. ‘’Alright, I will tell you what has been haunting me for seven years.’’ It took me a significant amount of courage to say those words. Of course everyone who was there that day knew what happened but I never talked about it with no one except for my brother. As we sat back down on the cough I started my story, reliving it as I spoke.
Seven years ago, I walked trough rival territory, fully aware that I shouldn’t have been there. As I was walking down the street, the smell of smoke filled my nostrils. Looking around the area I noticed smoke rising in the air. I followed its trail back to the source and saw that it came from the Calaveras club house.
With my head low, I walked trough the crowd that had gathered in the street. Once I was clear from the crowd I picked up my paste, knowing I needed to get the hell away from there.
Walking past the burning clubhouse I heard a women screaming for help. It pained me to hear her scream, begging for someone to save her. Till this day I still don’t know why none of the firefighters went back inside to save her. With myself in battle of what to do, I either lost or won, but I went inside trough a back window.
Following the woman’s scream, covering my mouth with my sleeve to prevent smoke inhalation. The screams came from behind a closed door, it was either locked or blocked. Kicking in the door, was the only possible way to enter. Black smoke filled the room and I could barely see the woman in front of me.
I ran towards her and helped her up. With one arm around her waist and the other holding on her arm that laid over my shoulder, we made our way to the door. The closer we got to the exit, the more screams from the outside I could hear.
Mainly I heard the screams of Hector Salazar. ‘’My wife is still in there!’’ So they knew that she was missing. I brought her as close to the exit as I could, she had to walk out the last few meters. No one could know I was there.
Carefully pushing the women to the exit I said. ‘’You got this, just keep moving.’’ She nodded and held herself steady against the wall. ‘’You got this.’’ I said again before turning around to make my way out trough the same window I came in from.
I thought that she had already turned around before I did, but she didn’t and saw my vest. She saw the Sons logo on my back and she tried to tell her husband that I saved her. But once he heard that the sons were involved he made the conclusion I was also the one who started the fire. And he wanted revenge.
My voice was horse from crying and talking. Juice held my hands the entire time I talked, to let me now he was still there. He would squeeze my hand every now and then to let me know he was still paying attention. ‘’But that still doesn’t explain you losing your sight.’’ He noted, after I was silent for a couple minutes.
It made me laugh weakly. ‘’You are so impatient sometimes.’’ I said with a small giggle in my voice. ‘’First he showed up at the clubhouse, threatening me. He had me followed by his men to harm me. But when I didn’t left the clubhouse anymore in fear of my safety, he had to get creative.’’ My heart was beating way to fast and breathing was uneven.
We sat around the bar having a laugh and a drink when Tig brought in a package. For me. He placed in front of me on the bar. ‘’For you, doll.’’ he said, kissing the top of my head, that being the first time to see me that day.
Not remembering I had order something, I examined the box. For as far I could see there was nothing suspicious about it so I opened it. As I opened it and looked inside something exploded and a wet substance burned its way onto my face.
Turning my head to my hands I continued. ‘’It was an acid bomb, not big enough to take me out. But to leave a message. That is how I lost my sight.’’ New tears filled my eyes and I didn’t fought to hold them back.
I let them stain my face, I let everything that I had bottled up the past seven years out. ‘’I never should have been walking in that neighbourhood in the first place. Cause this is what you get for saving the enemies wife.’’ I faced Juice, pointing at my face. ‘’I hate waking up, every day, not being able to see the faces of every one I care about. I hate my self,’’ Juice interrupted me by placing his hand on my cheek.
He tilled my head slightly up so I faced him head on. ‘’You saved a life, she is alive because of your bravery. Never hate yourself, cause to me, you are perfect.’’ I was lost of words and couldn’t help but smile. I hugged him once more and never wanting to let go.

A grim expression plastered on his face as he looked around. His eyes finally landing on me. Shock filled his eyes as tears filled mine. As if the world was about to end he approached me and cupped my face in his hands. Before I could speak he kissed me. At first I was shocked but soon melted into the kiss.
Wrapping my arms around his neck I pulled him closer, afraid to lose him again. ‘’doll, You have no idea how long Iv’e waited to do this.’’ a smirk formed around his lips. ‘’I think I can.’’
Behind us someone cleared their throat. ‘’I hate to brake you two love birds apart but we have to go, I want to get of this rock.’’ It was my father. ‘’Wow what?’’ Sam didn’t seem to like this plan, at all. ‘’We are going home, brother.’’ Nate said, he sounded tired. ‘’No, we are so close to finding Avery’s treasure.’’ A sigh left my lips and that is when the bickering started.
Everyone had their own opinion on what to do next and no one agreed with the other. ‘’Sam please, leave the treasure. Nate and I almost died not so long ago, I finally got you back, why don’t we just go home.’’ I got him to agree with me and we all left for the plain.
It was a long and difficult way back, obstacles blocked our way several times. We had to cross a small ravine, we were able to do so but one of us needed to get down somehow and pull us across. Nate offered himself to do it. The rest of us got on a platform and waited for Nate to pull us.
Once my father, Elena and myself where safely on the other side Sam waited on the platform to pull up Nate. Once the two got onto the platform it broke. Holding onto dear life the climb what was left before it collapsed completely.
Right as the platform collapsed Nat jumped toward us while Sam jumped to the other wall nearest him. Looking up he saw the maintains beak in which the treasure was supposed to be. ‘’Sam, don’t you even think about it.’’ I yelled at him. ‘’Please just jump, I will catch you.’’ Nate tried to encourage him. Sam only shook his head.
‘’I am sorry I got you into this. All of you.’’ He really would choose the treasure over his family. ‘’That doesn’t matter anymore, just jump goddammit.’’ My anger got once more the best of me. ‘’I gotta see this thing trough.’’ He turned around to head to the maintain. ‘’Sam, listen to me, if you do this I won’t be coming after you, you hear me?!’’ Nate’s words made him stop and look over his shoulder. ‘’Just promise me you will keep y/n save, please.’’ He looked at me shortly before disappearing out of sight.
Nate yelled after him a couple of times but without use. ‘’He is going to get himself killed, come on.’’ I said with a sigh before heading to other direction. Looking for a way to Sam. In a small clearing between the ruins stood a wagon, we could use that to climb a wall in order to head of Sam.
The wagon was heavy and it took all four of us to push it to the wall. Once we were satisfied with its placement Nate set it on its breaks. Only it snapped because it got aged over the years. The wagon fell back wards and my father and Elena held it back. ‘’Hurry Nate.’’ Elena said trough gritted teeth. Nate jumped on the wagon and I quickly followed. Together we jumped to the wall right before my father and Elena couldn’t hold it anymore.
The wagon smashed itself against a fountain and the two front wheels broke. ‘’How are we suppose to get up there now?’’ my father questioned. ‘’We don’t have enough time.’’ Elena stated. ‘’I am not letting you to go alone.’’ My father tried to protest. ‘’You just said it yourself, we are not alone, we have each other.’’ I was not about to abandon Sam. Not now I knew he was alive.
My father didn’t like the plan at all but there was no way he could stop us from down there. So we went.  It took allot from us to get there, we had to climb, jump, swing and dive before we got down at the cave.
Hiding in the water below a dock we waited for Nadine and Rafe to pass. Nate had to restrain me before I did something stupid. But I didn’t saw Sam, which worried me. Swimming closer to the ship an explosion stopped us. It was a cannon that broke trough the ships bow.
All I could think of in that moment right after the explosion was Sam. Hoping he was not hurt. ‘’We need to hurry.’’ I told Nate while swimming to the boat. He followed me closely definitely remembering his promise to his brother.
We entered the ship trough the hole. Stepping inside our eyes locked on the many treasures that filled up the place. Smoke slowly filled the room from numerous small fires. Looking around I noticed a small door. ‘’Nate in here.’’ I whisper yelled, not wanting to alert who ever might me on the other side.
Careful Nate opened the door and we both walked inside. ‘’Sam?!’’ Nate yelled out, but no answer. A cough could be heard coming from within the smoke, belonging to Rafe. Raising my gun towards Rafe I watched him descend from the smoke. ‘’Hello Nate, Sweetheart, you are just like the brothers. They don’t die that easily either.’’ pulling back the safety of my gun, he made my blood boil with anger. ‘’Where is Sam.’’ I asked harshly, trying to stay focus on what was most important right now.
Walking completely into few I could see Rafe was wounded. He had a cut on his for head and was holding onto his side, limping as he walked. ‘’He is right there.’’ he nodded to his left, while keeping his gun raised at us.
Following his gaze I saw Sam, trapped underneath a wooden support beam. It must have dropped on him in the explosion. ‘’Sam!’’ I yelled hoping for a response. ‘’Don’t worry, he is still alive.’’ his words calmed me a little. I tried to get to Sam but Rafe didn’t like that idea so much. ‘’Not so fast, sweetheart.’’ His gun was now pointed directly on me.
Stopping in my tracts I turned to face Rafe. ‘’Take the treasure Rafe, I don’t care anymore. But let me save Sam.’’ We found the treasure, we proved ourself that we could find it and we know now it was real and not just a legend. But Sams life was more important to me then some stupid gold.
Shaking his head he scoffed at me. ‘’After everything he has done, how noble of you, but no.’’ The smoke started to fill up the room slowly. It got caught in the back of my throat, making me cough. ‘’If we stay here any longer we all die!’’ I spat at him trough my coughing. ‘’Is that what you want?’’ Nate asked him. ‘’That is not what I said. What do you think Nadine?’’ he asked smirking.
Nate and I both looked at each other before turning to the door. Nadine walked out with her gun raised. ‘’Be a dear and relieve Nate and y/n form their guns.’’ he order Nadine.
Not knowing what to do I kept my gun raised at Nadine, while Nate had his raised at Rafe. ‘’Hand them over.’’ she said sternly. ‘’You really think you can trust him?’’ I asked in disgust. ‘’Not your concern.’’ she tried not to show any emotions but something was lurking from beneath.
Slowly we started to circle each other. ‘’Now, why are you trying to instigate? Nadine and I are partners… I don’t screw over my partners.’’  Nate had given Nadine his gun, he wasn’t here to fight. He was here to save his brother. ‘’Get over there. You too sweetheart.’’ I followed Nate, gave Nadine my gun and stepped aside. ‘’You and your brother, though… Right from the start, you took advantage of my generosity. You tried to cut me out and it’s high time you learned--’’ he stopped mid sentence because Nadine had put her gun against the back of his head.
A look of betrayal was spread across his face. ‘’What are you doing?’’ he asked rather annoyed. ‘’Now you give me your gun.’’ scoffingly he said. ‘’Nadine,’’ She pulled back the safety of her gun. ‘’I won’t ask again.’’ he let out a sigh and handed over his gun.
Nudging Nate in his side I nodded towards Rafe and Nadine, hoping he would get the hint. If he could distract them I could check up on Sam. I tried to move away but Nadine’s yelling stopped me in my tracts. ‘’Look at them!’’ pointing towards two skeletal remains. ‘’Looks like two skeletons to me, so what?’’ looking at the two I immediately knew who they were.
‘’I don’t know much about history as the three of you, but I got a pretty good idea of who these to are.’’ Nadine took a step on the first step of the small stairs. ‘’Well, enlighten us.’’ Mocked Rafe. ‘’Avery and Tew, they killed each other.’’ I spoke up before any one els. ‘’Good for them, what does it have to do with us.’’ Rafe clearly missed the point of this all. ‘’Every one obsessed with the treasure gets what they deserve.’’ She turned around and walked to the entrance of the room.
Panic filled the room. ‘’What, you are just going to leave us to die?’’ Nate asked, knowing she was about to walk out on us. ‘’Im just leaving. Whether you die or not, I don’t really care.’’ She walked out and closed the door behind her, leaving us trapped.
Rafe walked to the door and yelled after her. ‘’It’s no use, we need to find another way out.’’ I said while walked towards Sam with Nate. We needed to get him out of there. Fast. ‘’Just give us a hand and we all be getting out of here.’’ Nate added but Rafe made up his mind. He picked up a sword from the ground and slowly made his way toward us. ‘’Rafe, we don’t have time for your fencing classes.’’ Nate got up from his position on the ground to lead him away from Sam and me.
They danced around each other, Nate unarmed. I tried to cancel out there conversation while I tried to free Sam. But of course I didn’t had the strength to do so. I looked over to them and saw Nate on the ground, sword broken in two pieces next to him. Rafe towering over him ready to strike. ‘’If you want the treasure so bad, you can have it.’’ I spat trough gritted teeth and grab the dagger that was hidden in my right boot.
Anger was written all over Rafe’s face as he glared at me. ‘’All. Of. It.’’  I spoke emphasizing every word, before cutting the rope that held up on of the many nets filled with treasures. It came crashing down and landed on top of Rafe.
The next minutes all happened in a daze. Not believing what I just did. Smoke now filled the room and numerous fires threatened to burn us alive, still trapped with no way out. A second explosion snapped me back to reality. The room was now flooded with water, rising quickly. ‘’Help me with this beam!’’ Nate yelled as Sam was almost under water. I sprinted towards them and helped him lift the beam, making it able for Sam to swim out.
The three of us made it out the cave alive. Elena was waiting for us on land and helped us get out of the water. Right away she signaled my father with a flare gun and soon after we were safely on board back to main land.
Looking for warmth and comfort against Sam, my head resting on his shoulder and his arm around mine. ‘’Please promise me something.’’ I asked Sam out of the blue. ‘’Hmm.’’ he hummed, letting me know he heard me. Looking down at my face while I looked up and lost myself for a second in his eyes.
He tilted his head slightly. ‘’You were going to say something, doll?’’ snapping back to reality. ‘’Uh yeah.’’ clearing my throat I dropped the question. ‘’Don’t ever die on me again, you hear me.’’ Sternly I looked at him, scared to loose him again, and this time for good.
A smile stretched a gross his face. ‘’Don’t worry, I’m never leaving you again.’’ He leaned down on me and placed a soft kiss on my lips.
There we were, reunited at last.

Part: 1, 2, 3, 4
After exploring the old ruins that was were streets. It was a long lost dream to find this place and here I was. I wasn’t suppose be there on the hill of the mountain, but I was. Rafe had yet another meeting with Nadine and her men and he didn’t want me their, with the excuse it was way to boring for me and I could use that time exploring the building. So that was what I did. I explored and figured it all out.
Walking trough history, thats how it felt. Everything was just like it had been left behind after what looked like a huge fight, some could call it a war. Bodies where spread over the clearing, canons, weapons and barricades could be found.  It was unclear who’s battle it was and what they where fighting for.
Making my way inside the bloodshed had continued, who ever the battle was between had made their way inside.  Big golden looking doors, three times bigger than that I was, kept me from entering, what I only believed to be, the treasure room. A lever on my left was my way in. I pulled it towards me and a heavy mechanism could be heard starting to work.
Only it was for a little while before it stopped, doors still closed. With a groan I walked over to the door and pushed it with all my wight. It took a lot of effort but I manged to open the doors by force. My believes where right, this room used to be a treasure or trophy room, only this one was empty.
It was hard to imagine what had taken place hundred years ago but I had my ideas. By the looks of the state this room was left in, Avery had already taking his treasure elsewhere. Along the walls almost life sized paintings hung portraying the pirates. Avery, Tew all the founders of Libertalia.
They were all marked with the word ‘’Thief’’ meaning the treasure was already gone by the time the citizens had fought their ways in. Looking around the room for further clues I found the last peace of the puzzle. It was so small most would have missed it, but not me.
A map was painted on the sealing, it was barely visible because most of the roof was missing. But it was there. It showed a small town named ‘’New Devon’’ inhabited by seven large mansions. One for each pirate of Avery’s crew.
Smiling to myself, proud of my findings, I found myself calling for Nate. ‘’Nate, I figur,-’’ I cut my self off mid sentence, realizing Nate wasn’t here. In that moment of happiness I longed for my best friend. I should have been here with them, with Nate and my father.
Gunshots pulled me back to reality. It sounded far away but not the less it caught my attention. In a haze I looked for a way out. It took me way more time then I had anticipated and by the time I found a way outside the sound of a gun fight had stopped.
Now standing on top of a watch tower I looked around in the hope to locate the source of the fight. But what I found was more disturbing. Shoreline men filled my few, weapons drawn. Panic filled my body and the only thing on my mind was that I needed to get the hell out of here.
Making my way down was difficult because the tower was about to collapse. Running as fast as my legs could carry me I made my way down. Just before the tower collapsed I jumped to the roof of a nearby building.
My body wasn’t used to these kinds of shenanigans any more, so the safest way was the ground. No more jumping buildings. More shots filled the air and sometimes I needed to duck to prevend myself from getting shot.
In the distance I saw Rafe running inside a gave with some of the Shoreline soldiers. I followed him and waited till I got close to make my presence known. I ran out to a small clearing leading to a ravine. ‘’Rafe!’’ I called out. All eyes where now on me and so were most of there guns. ‘’Rafe?’’ I called out again, this time with my hands in the air.
Looking around the group I saw Nate and Nadine who was held captive by someone I couldn't see its face of. The man holding Nadine shifted slightly in its place making it able for me to see his face. My eyes grew bigger from confusion. ‘’Sam?’’ My voice was shaking, my mind making over hours. ‘’I told you to stay away.’’ Rafe spatted at me. A low growl could be heard leaving Sams throat.
Snapping my attention to Rafe I spat back at him. ‘’Excuse me?’’ I was still being hold at gun point but I ignored them. With anger in his eyes Rafe took a step towards me. Trying to hold my ground I stayed put. Locking my eyes with his I looked for answers. ‘’You knew, didn’t you.’’ I asked bluntly not giving him time to talk. ‘’You knew, all this time he was alive?!’’ I felt a white rage burning in my stomach and my anger got the best of me.
Waiting for him to confirm my theory I kept my eyes locked on his. ‘’Of course, who else did you thought broke him out for a second time.’’ Without thinking I swing my arm back and connected it with his jaw. Through the force of the impact Rafe stumbled back. By only one sign, one of the Shoreline soldiers grabbed me and put his gun to my temple.
The safety of a gun being pulled back could be heard, coming from Sam, still holding Nadine. ‘’Let her go Sam, or she dies.’’ pointing at me Rafe kept his vision at Sam. ‘’No.’’ Sam said trough gridded teeth. ‘’Don’t make me ask again, sam.’’ A threatening hint was visible in his voice.
Nate who kept watching until now made a move no one expected. It all happened in a second. Nate moved towards his brother and unarmed him so Nadine could step free. ‘’Now let her go, Rafe.’’ Nate said trowing the gun away. ‘’I can’t quite do that yet, Nathen. I still need her.’’ Anger kept boiling up inside of me.
I lowered my head towards my chest before I yanked it back, making contact with the nose of my captor. He let me go to grab his now bloody now. Kicking the gun out of his hand sending it flying. ‘’I am done helping you, Rafe.’’ I spat my words out, filled with poison.
A cynical laugh left his lips. ‘’I don’t think so princess. You and your not so dead boyfriend over there are going to lead me to Avery’s treasure.’’ With his pistol raised at Sam, he shot daggers at me. ‘’To bad I don’t know where it is.’’ I lied, shrugging my shoulders nonchalantly.
He wasn’t to happy with my answer. ‘’Then you better figure it out, fast, or els.’’ He threatened me. ‘’Please, I am sure we can figure something out, make a deal, find it together.’’ it was Nate he broke the silence. ‘’There is nothing to figure out. I only need one or two of you.’’ His gun shifted from Sam to Nate. ‘’No!’’ Sam and I yelled in unison. But it was to late, Rafe had pulled the trigger.
Sam jumped in front of Nate to take the bullet but it hit him in the shoulder. It was a trough and trough and it launched itself in Nate, who fell backwards to the edge, eventually falling over leaping to his faith.
The build up anger that i’ve been collecting inside bursted, I launched myself towards Rafe. One of the Shoreline men grabbed me but without luck. In a second I had disarmed him and held him under gunpoint with his own gun. ‘’Tell your men to stand down and no one gets hurt.’’ I threw a quick glance at Rafe. ‘’And who is going to hurt them, you?’’ wrong answer.
Pulling the safety back and pulled the trigger I shot the man in his back. Dead. ‘’Yes, me.’’ with an empty look in my eyes I looked at Rafe. Sam watched me from his position on the ground. An amused and proud look spread across his lips.
A vein on Rafe’s forehead was about to burst so much anger was he carrying. ‘’Maybe I only need one of you.’’ Rafe said coldly and pulled the trigger. The bulled embedded itself in my torso, falling to the ground immediately. Faintly in the distance I could hear Sam’s voice but I couldn’t figure out what he was saying.
One by one Rafe and his people left the cliff, dragging Sam with them. Leaving me to die. But one thing Rafe forgot, he doesn’t get rid of me that easily. What felt like hours I woke up.  My body felt stiff and everything hurts.
Weakly I made my way trough the cave to the shore. My last hope for survive was my dad. He owned this ridiculous old aircraft that could land on water.
Nearing the shore I saw the outlines of the aircraft, with the last strength I had in me I screamed for my dad. ‘’DAD!’’ limping closer to the water I tried again. ‘’Dad!’’ I hadn’t much strength in me left, but it was just enough for him to hear me.
For a second time I lost conscious. The next time I woke up I laid in the plain all patched up. ‘’Dad?’’ I asked silently, slightly in panic. ‘’I am here, doll.’’ I heard my father say over the sound of the plain. ‘’We are getting Nate and Elena at the north side of the island.’’ By hearing Nate’s name I shot up from my laying position. ‘’He is alive?!’’ I could barely believe it.
A tension filled the air followed by a deafening silence until I broke it. ‘’I know about Sam.’’ My dad looked at me quickly over his shoulder. ‘’Sweetheart, I am so,’’ he started but I stopped him. ‘’I understand Dad. You did it to protect me and because the whole thing with Rafe.’’
The flight was short, we landed near the shore and waited for Nate and Elena. Loud explosion could be heard in the distance. Getting closer and closer by the second. An armored car seemed to be chasing something or someone.
In horror I saw who the car was chasing, Nate. ‘’Dad, it’s Nate!’’ But my dad was already on the case and shot an RPG at the car, making it stuck on a wall. ‘’Trow me the RPG!’’ Nate yelled and my father did what he asked.
We helped Nate up de wall after the car was taken care of. Without giving him time to react I embraced him tightly. ‘’I thought you were dead.’’ I breathed in his chest, slightly crying. ‘’Me too.’’ He whispered back.
After breaking apart I looked for Elena. ‘’Where is Elena?’’ and right after the words left my mouth she came running towards us. ‘’Hey.’’ She said before embracing each other. ‘’Hey.’’ he said back. ‘’How are you doing?’’ My father asked. ‘’Im doing good, some close calls but,’’ She stepped away from us to look at the ruins. ‘’He covered me.’’ And walking out of the ruins came Sam.

Part 1, 2, 3
I waited on the steps of the Library, the cold morning air tickled my cheeks. It took Rafe indeed five minutes to get here. Once he arrived he honked the car. The sudden sound made me jump. Stepping inside the car I could barely keep my excitement inside and needed to share my information. ‘’I found a lead. It is rather small but it is something, this location might hold the last resting place of Henry Avery. It is a long shot but at least it is something.’’ he blinked a few times in order to process everything I just ranted.
For a minute he sat in silent, both hands on the wheel, looking outside. ‘’That is amazing.’’ He suddenly said. He turned in his seat to face me. ‘’You are amazing.’’ he said softly, which made me blush. ‘’Well it is my job, to look for clues and all, so uhm yeah.’’ I stammered not knowing what else to say.
He grabbed my hand and hold it in his. ‘’I never doubted you for a second. If there was someone who could find something from scratch it would be you.’’ This time I just smiled, completely lost of words.
Without wasting any time we packed our belongings and left the hotel, took the first flight to Scotland. We needed to make a pit stop somewhere to buy some warmer clothing because it apparently snowed in Scotland this time of year.
In the time we needed to get to the sight Rafe had called in some favors by Nadine and her special team called Shoreline, to set up camp there. ‘’Nadine just informed me her men are all set, once we get there we start searching.’’ Rafe updated me. ‘’That is great. I can’t wait to get there.’’ I was beyond excited. After years of being stuck in the library where I worked I never realized how much I had missed this.
It was a long car ride to the grave site. Tiredness overtook me and I fell asleep next Rafe. My head resting on his shoulder. Rafe smiled to himself when I felt my head falling on his shoulder. Arriving at the camp Nadine had set up Rafe had to wake me up. ‘’Hey, wake up, we are here.’’ Softly he shook my shoulders. Awoken from my deep slumber I felt disorientated.
Looking around confused. ‘’Where are we exactly?’’ I asked in a daze. ‘’We are at the camp near the graveside.’’ he helped me remember. ‘’Oh my god, of course, how could I forget.’’ I kinda felt stupid for forgetting but it was a well needed sleep.
We met up with Nadine. ‘’Just behind these woods is the graveside you tolled us about. Great findings by the way.’’ Nadine and I had already met at the auction. She was a nice lady but something tolled me not to put all my trust or faith in her hands.
Getting ready to leave for the graveside, I only took the necessary; notebook, pen, gun for safety and a flashlight. ‘’Are you ready?’’ I asked Rafe. He looked at me guilty. ‘’Is it oke if I meet you there? I want to speak to Nadine about what ever she has found already.’’ I simply nodded. ‘’No that’s oke. Update me as soon as you get there oke.’’ I gave him no time to respond and gave him a quick hug. ‘’Be careful.’’ he whispered into my ear. ‘’I will.’’
I followed one of Nadine's men to the graveside. Entering the graveside I immediately went my own way, leaving the man wandering behind. I knew what I was looking for, I just needed to find it first. There were so many graves scattered around the place, it would almost be impossible to find the right one, but I was determined.
Inspecting almost ever grave one by one. It took me some time and it was getting later and later in the day. Rafe hadn’t joined me jet. I was getting a little worried about him and whether or not I would find the grave. That little meeting of his shouldn’t take this long. But my mind was somewhere else then to worry about that.
After looking what felt like an eternity and not finding anything I consulted my notebook for information. I was looking for a gravestone with two swords crossing each other with a skull sitting on two crossed bones and with the following dates; 1659-1699.
I didn’t understand I know for a fact that I had looked at every single grave, it was not here. ‘’Y/N!’’ I heard someone yell my name. It was Rafe, panic struck my like a truck after the realization I had to share the bad news with him.
In a panic I tried to think of the right words to say. ‘’Found anything?’’ he asked as he was standing right behind me. My shoulders rose and fell rapidly. A sniff could be heard in the silence. ‘’Y/N, what is wrong?’’ He turned me around and looked at me. ‘’Talk to me.’’ With tear filled eyes I looked at him. ‘’It isn’t here.’’ I said in breath filled voice.
Confused he looked at me. ‘’What do you mean?’’ I took a big breath and said slowly to prevent myself from crying even more. ‘’Avery’s last resting place, it is not here.’’ there was a crack in my voice. ‘’Have you looked at all the graves?’’ for some reason I was getting angry. ‘’Yes, Rafe, while you were having a tea party with Nadine I looked at every single gravestone, some of them matched half of the description and others were missing just one thing.’’  He was taken aback by my sudden outburst. ‘’Sorry.’’ I whispered.
He looked around for a second and thought about something. ‘’Avery was a wanted man, are you sure he was buried under his name?’’ all of a sudden everything fell in place. ‘’Rafe you are brilliant!’’ I screamed and grabbed his face to kiss him before running off unaware of what I just had done.
I started walking towards a grave I recently had studied. ‘’Rafe, don’t just stand there, come.’’ I gestured with my hand that he needed to follow me, only Rafe was still startled by my action. ‘’Uh, yeah, I’m coming.’’ he shook himself out of his thoughts and followed me. In front of a grave I stood still, ‘’Benjamin Bridgeman’’ was the name engraved into the stone.
Standing in front of the grave I noticed something was off and so did Rafe. ‘’Everything matched except for the skull.’’ He was right, the skull should have been sideways, but before I gave up I wanted to try something. Placing my hands on the skull I rotated it to the side. A click could be heard from with in and behind the grave the ground opened up reviling a stair leading into the ground.
Walking in without hesitation I followed the halls into an open space. ‘’Someone beat us to it.’’ I said as I notice the puzzle Avery had set up was already solved. ‘’Drake.’’Rafe said in a low growl. I understand is anger, but I didn’t share it. I just kept quiet.
Looking around the room I looked for clues on what this puzzle led to. ‘’The puzzle is already cracked, who cares, the answer is ours to grab.’’ I tried to cheer him up and it seemed to work. ‘’Okey, why don’t you stay here, figure this out. Because that’s what you do best and I head back to camp and talk strategies with Nadine.’’ He walked over to me and placed his hands on my shoulder, looked me in my eyes with his smouldering charms.
He was right, this is what I did best, and he would only be in my way. But that didn’t mean I liked his plan of going back to Nadine, I was starting to get jealous. That she got to spent more time with Rafe than me. ‘’Oke, but radio me if you need me.’’ He nodded and thought what to do next, from the moment after I had kissed him he was looking for a way to return it. So he did.
Leaning in he placed a gentle kiss on my lips. It caught me by surprise. ‘’What was that for?’’ I asked, still not realizing what I had done about thirty minutes prior.  ‘’Because you are amazing.’’ I was glad that we were in a barely lit room, because I was blushing a deep shade of red. He winked at me and left me behind to work on the clues.
Every time I figured out where to go next Nathan and my dad were always one step ahead of us. We flew all over the world but eventually we found Libertalia, a colony build by Avery. A place he and his fellow pirates could hide out and live without getting caught. But Libertalia wasn’t the only place we had found. I found someone else too, someone I thought I would never see again. At that very same place I lost something as well. I lost my faith in Rafe.

Part: 1,  2
After an escape gone wrong they, Sam, Nate and Rafe, never quit there plan. As they kept running, the guards started to close them in. Jumping from on building to the next, gun shots filled the air. Rafe was the first to jump, Nate follow suit and Sam barely made it over. Hanging from the wall with dear life Nate offered him a hand to pull him up.
Holding on his brothers hand the guards took this as an opportunity and opened fire once more. Nate almost got Sam on the wall when they started firing, most of the bullets hit the wall but a couple ended in Sams torso.
Sam started coughing and blood dripped from his lips. ‘’Sam, no.’’ said Nate softly and scared.  ‘’No, you hold on.’’ He said as Sam started to slip. Now hanging from the wall, Nate holding onto his arm with all his might. Little by little Sam started to loose concussions and slips further from his brothers grasp. ‘’Give me your other hand.’’ Nate said hasty, knowing he didn’t had much time left. But Sam could not bring him self to it and slipped out of his brothers grasp and fell down. Hitting a steal roof on his way and fell right trough it into the dark layers below.
Nate didn’t want to leave his brothers body behind but Rafe told him he was gone and that they needed to move. ‘’We have to go, now.’’ he said as he tried to help Nate up from the ground. ‘’No, I can’t, I can’t leave him behind.’’ It was a difficult decisions but he soon followed Rafe to the boat and leaving his brothers body behind.
A lump in my throat prevented me from speaking. ‘’But it is normal to think you saw him.’’  I nodded slowly. He hugged me tight and stroked my back. ‘’Take the time you need, but I do need to go back, the auction is about to start any minute now.’’ I wiped away some tears that had made there way out. ‘’I will be there in a minute.’’ I said softly, once I cleared my head I joined Rafe back in the hall.
As Rafe walked back inside he stumbled upon an old friend. ‘’Victor Sullivan, how the hell are you?’’ Rafe said with a honeyed voice. Victor, my dad, looked up from the women he was speaking with, Nadine, Rafe’s business partner. ‘’Rafe, why am I not surprised to see you here.’’ He said while shaking his hand. ‘’How long has it been?’’ Rafe asked mocking, knowing perfectly well how long it has been. ‘’Ten years, twelve?’’ he continued. ‘’Fifteen.’’ Said Victor annoyed and slightly irritated.
They spoke some more about work and business. Feeling a little bit better I decided to go back and look for Rafe. He wasn’t hard to find. Walking closer to him I could not see the man’s face he was talking to. ‘’Feeling better?’’ he asked soon as I came in his few. ‘’Yes.’’ The smile I carried soon faded as the man turned around. ‘’Dad?’’ I asked shocked. ‘’Are you here with him?’’ he pointed to Rafe. ‘’Yes. She is, Victor.’’ Answered Rafe for me as I couldn’t find the words.
With a glare Victor looked at him. ‘’She can speak for herself, son.’’ Rafe held his hands up in a backing away manor. ‘’You said you were in Yemen.’’ with my arms crossed I looked at him, waiting for his respond. ‘’Why did you lie?’’ I knew I had lied too, but this was different. ‘’I uhm, we, oh boy.’’ He mumbled. ‘’We? Nate is here too?’’ he sighed and scratched his head. ‘’Well yeah and,’’ he stopped himself from talking. ‘’I never said whit whom I was because I knew you were still pissed at Rafe for leaving but this,’’ I was angry at my dad. How and why would he lie about this.
Before he could answer the auction was about to start. ‘’And in a moment we will start bidding on our next item an inlaid wooden crucifix from the Trott Estate.’’ the lady spoke. ‘’Should have know the two of you went after the crucifix as well. You could have just told me, you know.’’ I said angry and walked away from my dad.
Without saying anything further Rafe followed me and left Victor alone. ‘’Guys, we have a problem, not only is Rafe here but also my daughter.’’ It was silenced for a second on the communicators they used. ‘’She is?’’ someone asked both hurt and hopeful. ‘’Yes, she is, but she is here with Rafe.’’ Victor said. ‘’Sam, I am so sorry.’’ Nate said, not exactly knowing what to say or feel. ‘’Let’s just focus on the task boys. We need that cross.’’ Victor said in his fatherly tone.
Looking for a place in the crowd, I admired the cross. For something so old it was in perfect condition. Preserved in its original state, finding something like this was rare. Just being here, able to see it from so close was a privilege.
The bidding had started. Rafe waited till a higher bid before he started to bid on it as well. At almost one hundred thousand euro, no one els was bidding any more, until my dad had the audacity to made the bid of the one thousand euro’s. “What is he doing?’’ I muttered under my breath. Rafe placed another bid. Thousand euro’s higher than the last.
It went on like this between the two for a good two to three minutes. After my dad had bid two hundred thousand euro Rafe got so irritated that he bid five hundred thousand euro. ‘’Get this show on the road, shall we.’’ Rafe said eager to win the bid. ‘’Does the gentleman wish to bid again?’’ The auctioneer asked. All eyes were on Victor.  ‘’Its all yours.’’ he said, making a waving hand gesture. I let out a sigh of relive, if he had won this bid we would be bankrupt. We didn’t have that much money, let alone the opening bid.
A smirked formed around Rafe’s lips. ‘’We are going once,’’ the women started. ‘’Going twice.’’ the  room kept quiet, Rafe could feel the victory. ‘’Then I shall sell it for five hundred thousand,’’ before she could finish the lights fell out and the hall was left in complete darkness. ‘’Ladies and gentlemen, please remain calm. The backup power will come on shortly.’’ the women spoke in order to keep everyone calm.
In the room whispers arose, some panicky and some calm. I had a bad feeling by this. Just a second later the backup power came on and someone stated. ‘’It’s gone!’’ meaning the cross. I should have know it. It could have only meant one thing why my dad and Nate where here, to steal the cross.
I lost Rafe in all the commotion, looking for a way out in the hope to find Nate. He couldn't have gotten far. Opening every door in the corridor I was in, I came face to face with Nate. ‘’I think you have something that doesn’t belong to you.’’  I said pushing him back in the room. ‘’Well, technically it’s neither yours.’’ he joked, but I was not laughing. ‘’Just give it back Nate, you gave up this hunt years ago.’’ He was holding back something, I could see it in his eyes. ‘’Why are you here with Rafe.’’ trying to distract me he changed the subject. ‘’Hand me the cross Nate.’’ I held out my hand. ‘’No.’’ he said stern.
With pain in my eyes I looked at my best friend. ‘’Don’t make me fight you for it Nathan.’’ he was shocked to hear me say that. ‘’You don’t mean that.’’ Somewhere I did, but hoped it would not come to it. He took some steps back while I took them forward. Slow and steady I approached Nate. ‘’There are a million other treasures to be found, can’t you just for once let one slip?’’ he shook his head. ‘’I am sorry, but I can’t not this time.’’ And with that he ran towards me.
In shock I covered my face not knowing what would come, but at the very last moment he dodged me and jumped out of the window. ‘’NATHAN!’’ I screamed and ran to the window, looking outside in the hope to see him hanging onto something, but nothing. After a couple of seconds of looking down I could hear a faint grunt. It belonged to Nate, who was probably hanging onto something underneath the window just outside of my point of view.
I let out an angry sigh before I headed back to the main hall to find Rafe. On my way there I could hear the gunshots from outside. My head was spinning, I just hoped Nate would make it out alive. Somewhere outside I found Rafe. ‘’Rafe!’’ I ran towards him and looked him up and down. ‘’You are oke. I heard the shots and.’’ my voice was cracked and my hands were shaking. ‘’Im oke.’’ he said pulling my into his arms. ‘’I was worried about you.’’ he admitted.
Back at the hotel I told him what happened. ‘’Nate stole the cross.’’ I said defeated. ‘’I should have known, that could have been the only reason why my father would be there and why he would bid such ridiculous prices he never could afford.’’ I rented without pausing. Rafe sat at the kitchen table with a glass of scotch in his hand, listening. ‘’We will find out what was so important to that cross the hard way.’’ With a big gulp he emptied his glass.
Because of my tiredness I couldn’t think logically, I needed sleep and in the morning I would look at ways to unravel this mystery. I said goodnight to Rafe and went to my room.
The next morning we talked about ways to find clues. ‘’I can go to the library, maybe find some books about Avery.’’ I suggested. A spark in his eyes ignited. ‘’Yes, If there is anyone who can find that out it’s you.’’ with a broad smile he looked at me. ‘’I can talk to some other people and drop you off at the library.’’ I nodded. ‘’Thanks. I appreciate that.’’ Out of my suitcase I grabbed my notebook and my favorite fountain pen. I never left without the two.
The drive to the library was short, he dropped me off at the Ambrosiana Library. Founded it 1609 and holds some of the oldest manuscripts of the world. I just hoped they would also have something on Avery, how small it might be, any lead could help.
Walking in without a plan, I started looking for books. Henry Avery was an English pirate in the 1600. I took books about Pirates, the Founders, some of Avery’s companions and even a scroll about Libertalia. It didn’t say much but every bit of information was critical.
Hours on end I sat in the library doing research. Once I was in my zone I easily forget to eat, drink or take breaks in general. It was getting later and later but I wasn’t going anywhere, staying in my spot until I found that piece of information that would lead us further.
After two days of searching I finally found something. A resting place that allegedly may or may not have been Avery’s. Located in Scotland. Hyped about my findings I rushed cleaning up and may have misplaced some books. With my notebook clutched in my hands I walked outside and called Rafe. ‘’I found something. Im heading to the hotel now.’’ I said before leaving the building.
Stepping outside in the cold morning air. It was in the dusk of time, I checked my phone and saw that it was five thirty in the morning. The sun was about to set and the stars where still visible in the sky. ‘’I will be there in five, just stay put.’’ I heard Rafe say with a sleepy voice. I completely lost sense of time while I was in the library.

Part 1
The days leading to our departure I needed to find someone who could cover me on work and teach the history classes. Luckily one of my co-workers wanted to work day shifts in staid of night. Today would be the last history class I would teach before leaving that night. ‘’So you are going on another trip again?!’’ no one could contain their excitement. ‘’I will be leaving tonight, and I don’t know for how long I will be gone.’’ I said honestly. ‘’But you will come back right?’’ one girl asked afraid of my answer. ‘’Yes, I will be back and yes, I will be telling all about it.’’ she laughed in relief.
My bags were already packed and ready to go. Rafe was waiting for me in the door opening of the library hall. Looking at me and admiring my passion and love for these children. No one noticed him standing there for a huge amount of time until one girl saw him and started whispering to her friends. ‘’Is there anything you want to share with the others, Dahlia?’’ I said while raising an eyebrow.
All the girls started giggling and blushing slightly. Rafe enjoyed the attention and couldn’t help but let out a chuckle. The sound of his chuckle startled me and I turned his way. ‘’Rafe, what are you doing here?’’ I asked him confused because I remembered meeting him at the airport. ‘’I wanted to pick you up, before heading toward the airport.’’ he shrugged nonchalantly.
All eyes were now fixed on us. ‘’I will be done in fifteen minutes, can you wait up front?’’ Everyone booed and awed. ‘’I don’t think they want me too.’’ he said grinning, showing his picture perfect smile. ‘’Please let him stay.’’ I heard someone ask. ‘’Fine, but we keep our heads to the subject.’’ I warned them. Once Rafe was seated somewhere at the table I continued the less.
In staid that I told them a storie, Rafe took the stage and told one of his. It was a nice finish before I left. For the first time I could watch and see how these children admired history and stories, taking in their faces one by one. There was no doubt about it, I was going to miss them like they were my own.
The next few days went by in a haze, we flew to Italy. The auction was held three days after we had arrived. That gave us plenty of time to find a dress for me and a suit for Rafe, explore the city and over all get to know each other again.
We stayed in a luxurious hotel in the hart of the city. It was more a penthouse then a suite. It has two rooms with each of their own bathroom, a functional kitchen and the most amazing few I had ever seen. Looking out over the city, with each night the sunset far in the distance.
As the sun was setting, a light warm breeze tickled my skin as I sat on the balcony. Admiring the view and letting my thoughts wander of into the distance. I didn’t notice Rafe walking out. ‘’Penny for your thoughts?’’ He took a seat next to me in one of the chairs. ‘’Just admiring the view.’’ I send him a quick smile before turning my gaze back to the horizon. ‘’It sure is beautiful.’’ He said, looking in the same direction.
For a couple of minutes we sat in silence. ‘’Tomorrow is the big day. The auction.’’ You could hear the excitement in his voice. ‘’I truly don't know what to expect.’’ I admitted, I’ve never been to an auction before, normally I would just take the artifacts, depending on the location and legal reasons. You could say I was a thief, in some ways.
For a second Rafe searched for an answer. ‘’Well it’s only a gathering of a bunch of rich assholes.’’ He said with a chuckle. ‘’In or excluding yourself?’’ I asked with a raised eyebrow. ‘’Depending on my mood.’’ He said with a wink. I rolled my eyes and laughed.
Not much later my phone rang, I looked at the caller ID and saw that it was my dad. ‘’I need to take this.’’ I said and walked inside. ‘’Hey dad.’’ I said after answering. ‘’Hey, I went by your work and you were not there, the said you left.’’ I completely forgot to tell my dad about going on this trip. ‘’Yeah, I am on a vacation, felt a little stressed out so yeah.’’ I made up a lie, something in me tolled me not to tell my dad the truth about Rafe.
After he left, without saying a word, my dad was beyond pissed at Rafe. Sam and Nate were like sons to him. My dad basically raised the two. My dad found Nate after he stole a ring in Colombia, Nate was just a teenager. Immediately my dad had a soft spot for him and took him in and that was the start of our friendship.
I got the impression that my dad was circling around his point as well. ‘’So why where you at my job anyway?’’ I asked bluntly. ‘’Well Nate and I, we have a job and it’s a big one and we will be gone for a while.’’ There was something in his voice I couldn’t place. As if he was hiding something from me. ‘’Oh, where are you going?’’ He hesitated for a second before he answered. ‘’Yemen.’’ It didn’t sound right to me but I didn’t question it either, because I was lying too about my whereabouts.
I could here Nate talk in the background, not sure who he was talking to but he sounded happy.  ‘’When ever I have time I will call you.’’ My dad said, a little sad. ‘’I will look forward to your calls dad.’’ our call ended right after, my dad had to go. Rafe walked in and looked at me. ‘’Who was that?’’ With my phone still in my hand I looked back at him. ‘’My dad, he and Nate are going to Yemen.’’ Whether or not it was real, I passed it on to Rafe. He simple nodded and didn’t say much about it.
It was getting late and with each passing second my eyes grew heavier. ‘’I call it a night.’’ I said to Rafe as I passed him in the kitchen. ‘’Oke, goodnight sweetheart.’’ he always called me pet names, something I still have to get used too. ‘’See you in the morning.’’ Looking at him for one last time before heading towards my room.
That night I dreamed meaningless dreams, I couldn’t remember a thing. Waking up it felt like I still needed eight hours of sleep. With tired eyes I walked into the kitchen for a cup coffee. Rafe was already awake and eating at the kitchen island. ‘’Morning sweetheart, how did you,’’ he looked at me and stopped mid sentence. ‘’Did you even sleep at all?’’ he asked concerned. ‘’I did.’’ I said, rubbing my eyes and yawning.
Handing me a cup of freshly brewed coffee, Rafe placed a hand on my forehead. ‘’I am not sick, Rafe, just tired.’’ A smile formed on my face. Rafe wasn’t a sympathetic man, but when ever I was around he seemed a different person. ‘’Drink your coffee, take a bath or a nap. Just get your rest for tonight.’’ He planted a small kiss on my forehead. ‘’I need to meet a client of mine, I will be back later.’’ I nodded and suppressed a yawn, without success.
Dressed nicely as usual, Rafe grabbed his coat and walked out. Walking to the cough I sat down and  drank the last of my coffee before I fell asleep. I slept for about an hour and I felt immediately a lot better. Heading to the bathroom and taking a long shower.
Afterwards I got dressed and prepared my outfit for the evening. Still roaming around in my room I heard the main door open. ‘’Rafe?’’ I asked, already knowing it was him. ‘’Yes, it’s me.’’ he called back. Somewhat relieved I felt my body relax. I didn’t know what I was expecting, who els beside Rafe could have walked in.
I walked back to the kitchen and Rafe smiled once he saw me. ‘’You look better.’’ I nodded. ‘’I feel better too.’’ Taking a seat on the chairs I listened to Rafe’s story about his client. He talked with such enthusiasm.
The entire day we spent talking about our jobs, time flew by and before we knew the auction was about to start. We both got ready, Rafe exchanged his black suit for a white one with black accents. I found a dress that matched his suit, a black rein stone dress with an illusion top and a white a-line skirt. My hair has always been a mess so also this time it was held up in a messy bun decorated with some hair clips.
Walking out the room, I was met by Rafe. Once he laid his eyes on me, his jaw dropped. ‘’Is there something wrong with my dress?’’ I panicky asked as I looked at my dress. ‘’No not at all, you look gorgeous.’’ he said with taken breaths. A blush painted my cheeks. ‘’Oh.’’ not knowing how to respond.
I never cared about how I looked. As long as it was easy to move in and comfortable. When you were walking trough forests and running for your life, you didn’t want to be walking in heels. ‘’Are you ready malady.’’ Rafe offered me his arm witch I took. Together we walked to the elevator and left the building to the limousine that was waiting for us outside.
Like a real gentlemen, Rafe opened the door to the limo for me. He even helped me get in. Once I was seated he stepped in and closed the door. Even though there was enough space for him to seat he sat right next to me.
It was a short drive to the Rossi Estate. ‘’We have reach your destination, ma’am and mister.’’ Said the driver trough a small window. ‘’Thank you.’’ I said to the man. Rafe opened the door and stepped out first. He offered his hand once more, which I took, and stepped out after him.
The place was secure with many armed guards. Only an idiot would try and sneak in to steal any of these artifacts. Without trouble we got passed security, the scanned our tickets and we were in. A gasp left my lips as soon as we walked in. I couldn’t stop admiring the architecture.
Slowly the place became more and more crowded, something I never liked. I didn’t do well in crowds. I liked small caterings with a maximum of four people. Never leaving Rafe’s side we mingled in the crowd. Rafe talked with a lot of people that night, he introduced me to each and everyone.
Feeling like I couldn’t breath and most likely to have a panic attack, I excused myself from Rafe’s side to look for the restrooms. Walking carefully trough the sea of people I searched for a waiter. I was still holding a glass of champagne in my hands that I wanted to get rid of and to ask for directions.
In the far back a man caught my eye, black tuxedo, combed back brown messy hair. I just saw him for a brief second but I could have sworn it was Sam. My breath got stuck in my throat and a horse gasp escaped before I dropped my glass. Once it hit the ground it shattered into a million pieces and the sounds of breaking glass filled the room.
For a second it was complete silent, I turned around to head out the other direction but I bashed into someone. ‘’Are you oké?’’ It was Rafe, he probably saw what happened. ‘’No.’’ I said with a shaking voice. ‘’What happened? let’s get you some air.’’ We walked to the nearest exit and it happened to be a balcony. ‘’So what happened?’’ he asked again because I never answered the first time. ‘’I thought I saw Sam, which is ridiculous because he is dead. But I could have sworn it was him Rafe,’’ I turned to look at him in the eyes. ‘’Every fiber in my body says it was him.’’ he looked at me and spoke softly. ‘’You know it can’t be him. I saw him die.’’ He did see him die that fateful day.

Creating a whole new, boring life an old friend tricks you back into action. A friend that had betrayed you once in the past and will again in the future.
Warnings: character death, Spoilers for Uncharted 4,
Ever since I lost my best friend, with whom I was in love with, I started to lose myself. Beginning to hate the things I used to love because they reminded me of him. All those things we did together and without him, it was no use.
Never finding love again, I distanced myself from my family. Moving out to a new city, starting a new and boring ordinary life. Living alone in a two-bedroom apartment with no pets. I lost contact with my other best friend, who was like a brother to me, because I was jealous of his relationship.
For years, I’ve neglected myself and lived through a depression. That was until I started working in the local library. Little by little picking back up the broken pieces what once my life was.
Re shelving the books in the library was one of my many daily routines. The endless pile of books covering the trolley. It took me hours every day to place them back on their right shelves.
Two days a week I gave history classes to a nearby school. Because of a shortage in teachers, later this afternoon there was a class scheduled. It was a small group of fifteen students, all eager to learn. Most of the time we have I spent on teaching actual history books material. But the last half an hour I tell them a story, mostly, one of my adventures from when I was a treasure hunter. Other times the stories my dad had tolled me of his adventures.
Lost in my own thoughts I did not notice a man walking behind me. Grabbing another book from the trolley. I studied it for a second before turning around to place it back on the shelf.
The figure came in view and scared me lifeless. I let out a small scream and dropped the book I was holding. ''I am so sorry, I didn't mean to scare you, love.'' The voice sounded familiar, but I couldn't place it yet. ''It's oke.'' I said hastily, as I picked up the book. Looking back up at the figure I gasped.
A pair of green blue eyes looked back at me. ''What are you doing here?'' I asked him sternly. He looked hurt by my words. ''Please, let me explain.'' He started softly, a small hint of an American accent lurking in his voice.
Shaking my head I blew air out of my nose. ''No, there is nothing to explain, not any more. Please leave.'' I tried to hold back my tears, I was angry and lost feelings surfaced once more. He opened his mouth to speak but I stopped him. ''Save your speech Adler. Now leave, just like you did fifteen years ago.'' Toxic filled words left my lips.
I was surprised at how calm I said it and how much hate I still carried with me after all those years. ''Oke.'' His words were barely a whisper. Turning around he walked toward the exit. Looking back once, only to see that I've had already turned around and forgot about him.
Taking a deep breath and trying to collect my self I continued re shelving the books. I wanted this trolley to be empty before my class came.
It took me about thirty more minutes before the trolley was empty. Still having ten more minutes left before the students would walk into the library hall.
Taking that time to set up some things as extra paper and pens, some books and a rare artifact. The chapter we were working on was about the lost city of Tikal in Guatamala. This library was home to one of the daggers they had found.
Slowly one by one the students came walking in. ''Good afternoon miss.'' They said by entering. Once everyone was seated I greeted them all at once. ''Welcome back every body. Today I want to tell you about the lost city of Tikal.'' All eyes were on me and a small whisper arose.
One of the students rose their hand. ''Have you been there too?'' A smile formed around my lips. ''No, I have not, but my father has and I will tell all about that later. First the history than the story.'' They all nodded in agreement, barely containing their excitement.
They were most interested in the dagger, it was used in rituals and offerings. This dagger was rare but the items my dad had found were even more astonishing. He had found coins, other knives and daggers. Some things he had found, he had kept and others he had sold.
As promised I talked about my fathers story the remaining half an hour. One of the students raised their hand. ''Yes, Tobias.'' I said to the boy who raised his hand. ''Why did you stop going on these trips, you clearly love it.'' I never tolled them why I had stopped. ''I lost someone dear to me, without him, it wasn't the same any more. After his passing I went on one or two more trips but it felt wrong.'' I never talked about my past and never about him.
A silence fell in the library, one more quiet than usual. ''But I still have plenty of stories left to tell.'' I tried to lighten up to mood. Before we knew it the time was up and the students had to go back to school.
My shift at the library came to an end, I was cleaning up and getting everything ready for the night shift. My follow up would be here any minute now.
Waiting for him or her to arrive I sat behind the counter. Filling in the last paper work and helping out people with their questions and checking out books.
Once my follow up arrived I gave them a brief summary of the morning. ''There is still a huge pile of books on the trolley that need to be re shelved.'' My follow up, Alica, looked at me frowning. ''Really?'' she asked dragging her words. ''I am so sorry, I hoped I had finished before you came but I had a class to teach.'' I didn't like it to leave my work for the next person. ''It's oke, don't worry about it.'' She gave me a forgiving smile.
Giving her the keys and saying my goodbye's I left the building. My apartment was a good twenty-minute walk from the library. I could take the bus or tram but on a nice sunny day like this I rather walked.
The sun shone still bright for this time of day and the soft summer breeze stroke my cheeks. Half-way through my walk I got the feeling I was being followed. To test my theory I took one turn after the other and see whether I was being followed.
In the corner of my eyes I could see the silhouette of a man dressed in a black topcoat with his head low. I picked up my pace, not because I was scared but because I wanted to get ahead of him a little more.
Turning around the corner and then in a nearby alley I waited for the man to walk by. Once he walked by I grabbed him from behind and dragged him in the alley pushing him against the wall. ''Why are you following me!'' I demanded to know.
The man was in pain, but I didn't care. ''Please let me go.'' He said with gritted teeth. ''Why are you following me?!'' I asked again, pushing his arm I held behind his back up. ''It's me, Rafe.'' The man said but I didn't let go. ''Last chance, why are you following me.'' I said this time trough gritted teeth.
Some people never gave up, and he was one of them. ''I want to talk to you.'' Rolling my eyes, I let go of him. ''So you follow me home like a creep.'' Rafe turned around to look at me. ''Yeah, I didn't really think that one trough.'' I let out a sigh, he did have my attention now. ''Fine, there is a café near here, If you buy me coffee we can talk.'' Sometimes in life you have to make compromises and this was one of those times.
Rafe was looking relived. ''Of course.'' we walked out the alley and headed towards the café. We found an empty booth near the window, I loved to watch the outside.
Watching as how the sun slowly disappeared in the distance making place for the moon and all the stars. How the shadows expanded into the night.
For the first few minutes neither of us spoke. Being near Rafe felt weird. Fifteen years ago he had left without saying a word, leaving me broken behind. At that time I needed him and he left. ''I am sorry I left.'' he started out of the blue.
Tears started to form in my eyes, burning and trying to fight their way out. ''It's a bit to late for a sorry, don't you think.'' my voice was shaking. ''I needed you, hell you even tolled me you were there for me. That I could always count on you. Have you ever considered how it could hurt me that you left.'' fifteen years of bottled up emotions finally came out. ''Waking up every morning thinking it was all a dream, hoping that when I walked into the kitchen that I would see him, but in staid I saw you, until I didn't. Realizing I lost you too.'' I couldn't stop the tears from falling.
Avoiding eye contact, I looked out the window. A pair of hands touching mine brought me back from my thoughts. ''It was never my intention to hurt you, I thought by leaving I would do you a favor, because I was afraid you only liked me because I reminded you of Sam.'' My heart skipped a beat by hearing that name.
''Sam'' I whispered his name. I haven't spoken his name in years, even though he was always on my mind. ''But why did you came back now, after so many years?'' My voice was hoarse of crying.
''Because the guilt became unbearably, and because I need you.'' I looked at him confused, why would he ever need me for.
I couldn't think of a reason and waited for his elaboration. ''Do you remember fifteen years ago, that Sam, Nathan and me were looking for Avery's treasure.'' I never forgot, it was how I met Rafe.
Rafe already knew the Drake brothers, the three worked together in order to uncover the location of Henry Avery's lost treasure. They paid a prison guard in Spain to get in and explore the old prison located on the same grounds.
In the early hours of the morning I was woken up by the sound of my phone. Someone was calling me. Sitting straight up in bed and looking for my phone I answered. ''Hello?'' My voice was sleepy. ''This is an automatic voice message. Do you accept the charges for this call from inmate S. Drake? Located Spain.'' I was confused and scared at the same time.
In an instant I was wide awake and cold sweat broke out. ''Yes.'' I said quickly. The line went silent for a second and then connected. ''Hey doll, It's me Sam, I don't have much time but I wanted to let you know, Drake and I are fine. We are in the Panamanian prison, Spain.'' There was so much going on through my head. ''How the hell did you get in there, you know what don't answer.'' I let out a big sigh. ''I will tell my father about it.'' At the time I couldn't see the humor in it like Sam did. ''Tell Sully hey from us will you.'' And before we could say anything else the line was cut off. Letting this all sink in for a moment before waking up my father.
Soon after we took the first plain to Spain. My dad was furious at the boys and it wasn’t the best idea if he went to see them, so I took it upon myself to pay them a visit in jail. I was escorted to the yard, there on a table sat Sam and Nate, along with a third person. A young man with slicked back brown hair, strong jawline and a permanent smolder on his lips. That was the first time I met Rafe.
I nodded to his question. ''Well, after we found the cross in Spain, leading us to a Cathedral in Scotland. It didn't bring us far, the cross was damaged and well Nathan was a grieving mess. But I found out that there will be an auction in the Rossi Estate with an intact Saint Dismas cross.'' It still didn't explain why he needed me for.
I knew how much this had meant for Sam and Nate all these years' ago. It was something their mother was looking for when she was still alive, and to somehow honour here they continued her search. ''But why do you need me?'' I asked him bluntly, not wanting to dance around it any longer. ''I could use your knowledge in architecture, archaeology and treasures.'' He had a point, I did know a lot about these subjects.
For a second I considered joining, because I did miss the adventures. ''I don't know, Rafe.'' I looked at him briefly before looking down at my hands. ''Please, I need you on this one and you can't always use his death as an excuse. Think about yourself for a change. He is dead, he is not coming back, so please don't let your love for exploring die with him.'' It was true, I kept using Sam's death as an excuse.
Ever since he died, I stopped doing the one thing I loved most and that was exploring. ''Please, one last time. That is all I ask and if you still hate me afterwards you will never see me again. I promise.'' Tapping my finger on the table I thought for a quick second before saying. ''Alright, I am in.'' With the biggest smile I could produce.
It took Rafe a minute to process what I just said. ''I understand and won't bother, wait what?'' He looked at me confused and happy. ''I'm in.'' I repeated my answer. Rafe smiled from ear to ear. ''You will not regret this.'' he said softly yet serious.
At that time I couldn't think of a reason why I would regret this. If only I knew what would be waiting for me.

part 1: here and 2 here
Panic struck Theo when he had found out. One of them visited him informing him on my condition. ''Her condition is promising.'' he had said. ''Her, who is her?'' He didn't realise they were talking about me. ''Your friend.'' he said before disappearing again.
Running around his room trying to find some clothes and shoes, he ran to the one person he knew would help, Scott, even if that means coming clean.
Walking up his door step he knocked hastily on his door. A sleepy Scott opened the door. ''Theo don't you know what time it is.'' he said annoyed. ''It's the Dread Doctors, they took her.'' Suddenly wide awake, Scott let him in.
Pacing impatiently he walked trough the kitchen. ''Can you stop and take a seat?'' Scott was getting impatient. ''How did you know she was taken by the Dread Doctors?'' This was the moment to tell the truth. ''The reason why I knew so much about them was because I was working with them to get to you. The needed someone strong to pass their experiment and once I learned that Y/N was a perfect contestant I tried to win her trust and lead her to them but then I fell in love.''
Scott walked over to Theo beyond pissed and grabbed him by the collar of his shirt. ''If Stiles doesn't kill you after saving her, she will.'' Scott knew that the pack needed Theo alive in order to save me, he was useless dead.
He let go of Theo and walked upstairs most likely to get dressed and call the other. When Stiles heard the news about my disappearing he was furious. He had stormed into Scott's home looking for Theo, finding him in the kitchen. ''Stiles,'' he started but Stile didn't want to hear it and it him square in the face. ''You son of a bitch. I knew you were trouble and now MY girlfriend is missing because of you. I will kill you after we found her.'' Stiles was holding his fist, covered in Theo's blood. For a few minutes Theo had a broken nose which healed a little later.
Laying bound on the operation table, I waited for my faith to meet up with me. Three figurers were hovering over my body. One was holding a rather large injection needle. ''What are you gonna do with that.'' my voice was shaky.
The figurers didn't respond, two were holding me down while the third injected me with a silvery substance.  The liquid felt strangely warm, I could feel it spread to my body, flowing to the ends of my fingertips and toes.
However, it did burn in my face, my cheeks felt fiery and a silver haze cover my eyes, blinded by the liquid for who knows how long I started to hear voices. It started out as a scream but later tuned down to people talking.
Images started to form in my head, at first it felt surreal and a dream but soon I realized it was a memory in staid.
''Oke Allison, now shoot the apple on my head, I trust you.'' I was looking at a young girl with a bow and arrow. She was nervous and her hands were shaky. ''But what if I hit you.'' she said, scared. ''You won't.'' I assured her. She took a deep breath and then released the string of her bow, launching the arrow trough the air, hitting the apple on my head. ''I told you, you could do it.''
The scene disappeared and I entered a new one, in each memory there was the same girl, Allison, present. She was my sister, my little sister. Each memory got darker and darker until I remembered every thing.
Walking trough the gates of Oak Creek with the pack to save our best friend. Kira's mother was waiting for us, in the hope to stop is. She tolled us it wasn't our fight but hers. What she didn't realise was that when the Nogitsune took the form of our friend, my boyfriend, it became our fight too.
Scott and Stiles, the real one, ran inside looking for Lydia. She was taken by the Nogitsune and was now trapped. The Oni that she had with her for protection were sent to find the Nogitsune. Little did she knew he was one step ahead.
The Nogitsune had the last of her tail pieces. Once the Oni's where close he broke the tail piece, and they were no longer bound the miss Yukimura. The firefly that gave life to them went out and went up in smoke.
Holding out her hand to see what was going on, everyone, including me, looked puzzled. ''Mom?'' Kira asked worried. ''What is that?'' asked Isaac sensing there was something wrong. ''What does that mean?'' Was my follow-up question.
It was answered, but not by Miss Yukimura. ''It means, there is a change in ownership, now they belong to me.'' It was the Nogitsune, who still had the appearance of stiles. It was sickening to look at, knowing that the loving and familiar face was anything but.
The Oni were now standing behind him, waiting for his command to attack. Allison drew her arrow back and I drew my sword. With a twitch of the corner of his mouth he gave the sign. The Oni now attacked us.
Swords clanking and screams filled the night. Every one fighting one or more of the Oni. It wasn't looking good for us, we all had cuts all over our bodies, one by one we fell to the ground. One of them hovered over Isaac who was sitting on the ground, heavily injured. Allison shot the Oni and a moment later it exploded. She managed to kill one. She figured out how.
Every one was shocked even the Nogitsune. But our victory wasn't for long because right after another Oni pierced his sword into her stomach. A faint scream was heard from inside the building, it was the scream of a banshee.
I turned back around and saw the Oni withdraw his sword from my sister. ''No!'' I screamed as I slashed the Oni but before I could do any damage they all disappeared.
Scott exited the building and caught her before she could hit the ground. Minutes later she was gone. My legs gave in and I fell to the ground sobbing and screaming. Our dad just entered the premises, only to discover one of his daughters had died.
The same silvery haze covered my vision and soon I was back in the dirty room. My body hurt  like hell and it felt like things were growing. With a new-found strength I ripped the restraints that were holding me open and fell to the ground.
I could see my fingernails growing. Screaming out in pain I noticed my teeth growing as well, I now had fangs.
My car accident wasn't real, there wasn't even a car accident to begin with. After the death of my sister, I went completely haywire. I took my anger out on the supernatural, just because I failed as a sister. It was my job to protect her, it was my job to protect my little sister.
When the Deadpool started I fixated my whole life on stopping all the hunters and the very Deadpool itself, it nearly costed my life.  I dedicated my life to protect other packs and all other supernatural creatures. The cuts and bruises I sustained took a toll on my health, I was only human after all. It left me comatose in a hospital.
I tried to relax my body and change back into my human form. My head was pounding and the cold cement floor felt nice against my for head.
I was scared, I didn't know what to do and if I would ever get out of here. Left with mixed feelings about the two boys who were basically my boyfriends. I couldn't deny the feelings I had for Theo, but in reality I was still with Stiles.
Scott had gathered the pack,  they split in two groups. Theo led Stiles and Scott to the hide out from the Dread doctors while Liam and Hayden went looking for a way to spot Theo by using Kira's sword. But for their plan to work they needed Kira.
Taking yet another turn in the underground tunnels. ''Theo we have been walking for almost an hour, we already have searched this entire tunnel system, its not here.'' Stiles was getting even more agitated than he already was. ''Trust me it is here.'' Theo was looking for something on the walls.
It was a symbol of a snake that eat its own tail. ''Here. She is here.'' Theo stepped aside so the boys could see. ''And how do we get in there?'' Scott asked worried. ''We break down the wall if we have too.'' Stiles said and that was exactly what they were going to do.
Scott and Theo wolved out and started pounding on the walls. Cracks started to form in the stone wall and then broke apart, leaving a hole where they could walk trough.
Stiles was the first to run trough, looking for me. In panic, he looked over me on the ground and it was Theo who found me.  He placed his hands on my shoulders and in shock I jerked up. Afraid it was one of the Dread doctors.
Once I saw who it was my body allowed itself to relax. I flung my self in his arms, happy I was safe. ''You came.'' I whispered in his ear. ''I didn't come alone.'' he whispered back. I looked over his shoulder and saw Scott and Stiles.
Letting go of Theo, I stood up and walked over to Stiles. Hugging him immediately. ''I remember.'' I said to him. ''Everything.'' The smile on my face could be heard in my voice.  ''You do?'' his voice was shaky. I pulled away from the embrace and looked at him nodding. Both happiness and sadness were visible on his face.
Theo didn't know where to look, so he just stood there. Scott was the first to speak up about him. ''Theo, why don't you tell why she is here.'' Confused I looked from Scott to Theo. ''What does he mean by that Theo?'' Theo looked at me scared, he was shaking slightly. ''Tell her Theo.'' It was now Stiles who spoke. ''Or I will.''
The situation was perplexed, I was waiting for someone to tell me what was going on. ''Theo?'' I asked again hoping he would say something, but he didn't. ''Theo has been working with the very same man who brought you here, it was his plan all along.'' It was Stiles who tolled the story, with a bitter tone. ''What?'' Tears started to fill my eyes but I ignored them.
Scott stepped forward and continued. ''Trying to be apart of my pack he gained certain information about you and your amnesia, he tried to use that in his advantage to turn you into a Chimera to.'' So that is what I was.
The tears made place for anger, emotion took over and my teeth started growing and my eyes lid a silvery blue. ''You did this to me!'' I screamed and showed him my claws. My words echoed trough the room. ''Yes. At first, it was my plan but then I fell in love. I tried to stop them from taking you that night at school, but they took you anyway'' he was now crying, I almost believed him.
The reality of him working for the Dread doctors was surreal. All this time that we were dating, he was looking for the perfect opportunity to hand me over to them, and he succeeded. ''I really thought that what ever we had been real, but all this time you had other plans for my future.'' my voice was shaky yet it was clear as ice.
With pleading eyes Theo looked at me. ''Please, babe,'' Immediately I interrupted him. ''You lost the right to call me that Theo.'' I could see the hurt in his eyes but I didn't care. Not any more.  ''You took advantage of me when I didn't even know who I was. We are over.'' I turned my back to him and walked to Stiles. ''I want go home.'' I whispered, while tears where filling my eyes.
I didn't want to care but I did. After all I did loved him. I was already heading toward the exit of the room. Eager to get out of here, all I wanted to do was forget this night.
On my way out to the tunnels Liam and Haydan come running toward us. ''Y/N! they found you!'' Both of them sounded relieved after seeing me walking. ''Yeah, they did.'' I said softly, while looking back. Noticing that the boys hadn't follow me out.
Walking back to the room I was held captive in I came on to view with a new nightmare. Stiles was lying on the ground with a cut on his head and probably unconscious and Theo was in a fight with Scott.
Without thinking, I jumped between the two. ''What are you doing?!'' I shouted to Theo. ''If I can't be with you, I will follow my old plan to kill Scott and take his pack.'' There was something sinister in his voice, as if he became psychotic. ''If Scott dies I will take his place as pack leader and you will have to fight me too!'' I treated Theo, hoping to scare him off.
It did not scare him as much as I hoped it would.  ''If you survive the transmission.'' Taken back by what he said, I let his words sink in. If I survived, what did he mean by if.
Liam and Hayden came running in with the sword still in hand. My guess was that he told Scott the new or already known plan while I kept Theo busy. ''If?! So there is a change I might die?'' With pain in his eyes he looked at me. ''Yes.'' The world seemed to spin around me, his words echoing in my head. ''If you've ever loved me, how could you let this happen to me?'' my voice was cracked and it hurt Theo in a way he never imagined it would.
I didn't notice that Scott was standing next to me. ''We know how to stop Theo.'' His words didn't make it to my acknowledgement. Carefully he grabbed my hand to bring me back to heart. ''Uh?'' I briefly looked at him.  ''We know how to stop Theo, go to Stiles.'' I simply nodded and walked over to Stiles who was now sitting on the ground with his head in his hands.
Kneeling besides him I placed my hand on his shoulder. He looked at me with blurry eyes. ''Are you oke?'' I asked him softly, not wanting to shout in case he had a concussion. ''Yeah.'' It sounded more like a sigh than a word.
For the plan to work, Liam tried to sneak up behind Theo. Only Theo was to smart and noticed. He wanted to attack Liam but Scott stopped him. A new fight between them arose, giving Liam time enough to get behind him.
From where I was sitting it looked like Scott was loosing. He got thrown across the room and landed next to Stiles and me.  ''He is too strong, we need to weaken him for this plan to work.'' Scott informed me. Both Scott and I stood up and walked to Theo, neither knowing each others plans.
Somehow it all started with me, so I was the one to end it for once and for all.  I couldn't save my sister, so I made sure I could save my friends. By a couple steps Scott walked in front of me. Just as Theo was about to lace out I extended my claws and jumped in the middle, digging my claws in his stomach.
With my claws embedded in his stomach he looked at me, blood dripping from the wounds and a small stream from his lips. ''Why?'' He asked in tears. ''You used me, you manipulated me so it's only fair that you die by my hand. Enjoy your life in hell Theo.'' I pulled away my hand and Theo stumbled back clutching his stomach.
That was Liam's cue to take action. He stabbed the sword into the ground opening up a portal. The floor cracked all the way to where Theo was standing. With one last look he fell. Theo was no longer.
When the portal disappeared I fell to my knees, feeling weak. My body was in pain and couldn't help but cough. In staid of blood or spit I coughed up a silvery substance. ''What is happening to me?'' Tears filling my eyes, I searched for Stiles.
He came rushing to my side. ''No no no.'' was all he said, clearly knowing what was going on. ''Scott you need to save her.'' Ignoring me, he looked pleadingly at his friend. ''It could kill her.'' Hurt was written all over his face. ''She is dying either way!'' Stiles was now shouting and tears were streaming down his face, I was about to die.
You could almost hear Scott think. ''What if she looses her memory again?'' as if that was the least of my problems. ''I will take that risk, and if that is the case then I will be there for her this time. We all will.'' Stiles looked around the room. All knowing that abandon me was the wrong thing to do and that they wouldn't make the same mistake twice.
My mind was running a mile an hour trying to process everything that was going on. The fact that I just killed Theo, that I was dying but there was a way to cure me with the change of dying.
Stiles who was now in tears begging Scott. ''Please Scott, I am not asking you to do this for me, but do this for her.'' Even Scott couldn't fight back the tears any more and gave in. ''Only if she wants it.'' Both boys were looking at me. ''Do it.'' I said hallow, it was a fifty-fifty chance, a gamble I was willing to make.
Nodding he took place next to me on the ground, gently grabbing my arm and rolling up my sleeve. ''It might hurt, a lot.'' Scott warned me. With my other hand I held Stiles'. Scott transformed into his alpha state and bit my arm. I expected it to hurt but it only stung a little. Nothing could have been more painful than what the Dread doctors had done to me.
The bite itself was quick, it was the process that took time. It felt like my body was on fire, similar to my transformation to a Chimera but this time it felt like a warm summers breeze in staid of walking trough a ring of fire.
For a second I felt weak, I felt like all the life was sucked out of me and I may have been dead for a second, but soon after I woke up with glowing yellow eyes.
The end!
Thank you for reading, feel free to give feed back to help me to improve my future works

As the school year progressed, I was no longer the centre of attention, yet Stiles and his friends kept feeling weird when we were in the same room. And in a school that goes quickly if you have almost every lesson together.
As he was walking through the halls of Beacon Hills High, his eyes laid on my walking figure. Walking next to me was non-other than Theo Raeken, the boy who stuck around when everyone else was avoiding me. ''I can't stand the sight of these two together.'' said Stiles trough gritted teeth. ''It's for the best and you know it.'' Scott, one of Stiles friends, said gloomily.
Stiles head fell and he sighed. ''I know, but it still hurts. It should have been my hand she is holding, I should've been the one to make her laugh, I should've been the one where Theo now stands.'' The both of them stood still and looked where Theo and I were standing, one leaning against the lockers while the other grabbed their books.
Scott laid a reassuring hand on his friends shoulder. ''Maybe one day you can be.'' his words weren't all that reassuring as his gesture. ''It just kills me, knowing I can't be around her when she needs me.'' even for them it hasn't been simple the last couple of months. Making a decision like that could not have been easy.
Knowing what had really happened that night of my so-called accident was their burden to carry, something they had to try to live with.
Walking hand in hand we made our way towards the library to study. Having a free period in the middle of the day sucked. We couldn't leave and skipping school wasn't an option for me. ''Are you sure you don't want to get out of here?'' Theo asked teasingly, knowing very well I can't. ''I am sure.'' I said as I closed my book and placed it in front of me on the table. ''But we do can take a break.'' we had been studying for a while now. My legs felt num from sitting al day. ''What do you have in mind, darling.'' he let the last word roll over his tongue and looked at me whit lust full eyes.
Since a couple of weeks ago he started to call me darling every so often and it made my heart skip a beat of two.  A pit formed in my stomach and lost my ability to speak. ''Well spill it, miss rebel.'' Whit a chuckle he looked at me. ''Let's go for a walk.'' packing my stuff I looked over to Theo who looked at me dumbfounded. ''Well, you coming or not.'' I threw my backpack over my shoulder and made my way towards the exit.
In a hurry Theo shoved everything in his own backpack and hurried after me. ''Show me the way.'' He said as he caught up with me. It was a five-minute walk to the woods behind the school. ''Should I be worried that you bring me to the woods?'' I laughed at his remark. ''Maybe you should.'' I winked at him.
His fingers found mine and intertwined. ''I just needed to get out, clear my mind.'' We stroll through the forest at a slow pace. ''Still a lot on your mind?'' Theo asked worried. ''Its just that I experience these vivid memories, but they are just outside of reach. A clouded image in the far back of my mind.'' it felt like I was starting to remember things and people from before my accident. Trying to fill a void whit information I don't have.
We found a bench along the forest path. It was a perfect spot to sit and talk. ''It's like a deja fu, but the moment it pops up in my head it's gone to.'' I scooted closer to his side and rested my head on his shoulder.
I felt his arm reach around me and placed on my shoulder. ''You know I am here for you, I always will.''  I looked up to look him in the eyes. ''I know, and I am ever thankful for that.'' He planted a soft kiss on my forehead.
If I hadn't met Theo I don't know what my life would look like today. He made me forget about my accident, he made me forget about trying to remember who I used to be.
Time flew by if I was with him. We finished our walk and ended back up by the school. ''I will see you after class.'' Theo said and kissed my cheek before walking off. Frozen in place I touched my cheek. This was new, I didn't mind, but it was new. Maybe he liked me in the same way I had liked him for weeks now.
The bell had rung, and I was late for my class, I sprinted to the right classroom and sneaked in. ''Miss Woodlend, you are late.'' The coach, Bobby Finstock, is also our economics teachers, the very subject I am too late for.  Midway I stood still and looked at the coach. ''I am, coach, and I am sorry.'' there was no reason to deny. ''Don't let this happen again or it will be detention.'' basically he let me off with a warning. Hastily I searched for my seat.
I sat two rows in front of Stiles and Scott who were whispering like school girls. ''I'm telling you there is something weird going on.'' Stiles whispered to Scott. ''These men in masks. Teenagers with silvery blood. They have be connected.'' Continued Stiles.
They tried so hard to conceal their whispers but with no luck. ''I thought that after Alison, we would have a break from the supernatural.'' Scott mentioned.
That name, Alison, why did it sounded so familiar. It was almost if I could hear her. Which was weird because I didn't know what her voice sounded like, or who she even was.
I tried to ignore their whispers, and follow the lesson. So lost in thought I wandered trough the halls looking for Theo. My thoughts kept going back to that name, Alison. I didn't notice Theo sneaking up from behind. As he reached for my hand I tackled him out of instinct, something I didn't know I could. ''Oh my god. Theo, I am so sorry.'' I helped him get back up. Shocked he looked at me. ''I didn't know you could do that.'' he awkwardly chuckled. ''Neither did I.''
I told Theo about what I heard Stiles say, I did let out a few things, so I didn't sound all to crazy. ''I need to find out who she was or is.'' He couldn't comprehend. ''Why?'' he asked. ''Because I think I knew her.'' It sounded crazy but I needed to know. ''But what makes you think she was a student here?'' what he just told me got me thinking. ''You are right, maybe she was from out of town, I'm over reacting.''  A wave of disappointment washed over me. Not of what Theo told me but because I was getting obsessive again.
One more class and we were done for the day, PE. We headed to the locker rooms to get changed. Every one who was on the lacrosse team had training and everyone else had to do laps around the field.
Minding my own business, I got changed and walked out to the field. The guys from the lacrosse team where are ready on the field, playing a match. Theo wasn't on the team, so he had to run laps too. ''Woodlend, why aren't you running?'' The coach yelled. He startled me and I didn't know how to respond other than by running.
At a slow pace I jogged my first lap, not wanting to drain my energy. I shot everyone and everything out and let my legs lead me over the grass. Passing by fellow students once, then for a second time. I wasn't necessary faster than them I lasted longer. It surprised me that I could run almost a marathon so short after my release from the hospital.
Lost in thoughts I ignored my pains and kept running until my sight went blurry. Realizing what was happening I stopped, my breathing was uneven and heavy. Leaning against a tree I tried to even my breaths, closing my eyes I counted the pauses between my breaths.
I knew what to do in a situation like this, I had this before. But I don't think I was running for fun then, I think I was running for my life.
To prevent from panic filling my body, I sat down at the ground. Starting to remember things from my past didn't help at all with my current situation. Failing in keeping myself calm I ended up in a panic attack.
Someone came to a hold in front of me and tried to talk me out of it but without use. I could neither see them nor hear them. All I could feel were two hands cupping my face and a pair of lips pressed to mine.
A warmth washed over me that flooded away the darkness that was surrounding me. Feeling the person pull away I opened my recently closed eyes and looked into the ones of Theo. ''I needed to make you think of something else other than your panic attack, so I kissed you.'' he said carefully. All I could do was smile. ''I need you in my life more than I like to admit.'' I said whit out thinking.
It shocked him. Never had he thought that I would think about him in such way. When he didn't react I started to regret what I just had said. ''I shouldn't have said that. I'm sorry.'' Quickly I got up to finish my laps. Theo stood up just as fast, if not faster. ''I am glad you said that.'' He walked towards me and hold my hand. ''Because I need you too in mine.'' and with that he kissed me again and that was the start of something new.
As we kissed, we didn't know people were looking. Stiles looked at us from the lacrosse field, out of anger he threw his lacrosse stick on the ground and grunted. His helmet and gloves soon followed his stick on the ground. Ignoring the shouting of the coach he walked towards the locker rooms. ''Stilinski! Where do you think you are going!'' The coach screamed as loud as he could and his vein on his forehead nearly popped from anger.
Scott followed his gaze and didn't understand what was going on. ''I will talk to him, coach.'' he said as he walked after Stiles. ''What was that out there?'' he faced an angry Stiles. ''You obviously didn't see, didn't you.'' It took him everything in him not to scream. ''No.'' Scott said curtly. ''You don't know how angry it makes me, to see MY girlfriend kissing that traitor.'' Stiles was nearly if not already in tears. ''What?'' Scott did indeed not understand. ''I saw Y/N kiss Theo, the very person we I suspect of being the cause of whatever is going on around here.'' Lost of words Scott looked at his best friend.
It was only Stiles that didn't trust Theo, and not only because he just kissed his girl friend but also because he thinks that that is not the real Theo. Scott on the other hand, didn't have a problem with him. He was just like him, a werewolf, only he was looking for a pack.
The last couple of weeks Theo did help Scott and his pack to figure out what was going on in the town of Beacon Hills. There were these creatures that called themselves the Dread doctors. What they wanted was jet a mystery.
Everyone tried to play it cool and pretend they didn't know me that well when Theo was around. Theo didn't need to know what had happened to me.
In the last few months there was a tension in the air, so thick you could almost see it. Teenagers were missing, others were found dead. Police said they were a victim of an animal attack.
Also in the last months my nightmares came back. Only this time I remembered everything. Shadowy figures with Japanese masks, people with fangs and claws and a girl. She was the only thing I could not remember.
The dreams scared me because sometimes didn't seem like dreams but reality. Walking trough school I looked for Theo, normally he would wait by my locker but the only who was waiting for me was Stiles. ''Move.'' I scoffed at him. ''Please, listen.'' He begged me. With a sigh I looked at him. ''You have one minute.'' I looked at him annoyed.
Why out all of a sudden wanted he to talk to me. ''Stay away from Theo, he is not who he says he is.'' Anger filled my veins. ''Excuse you?'' I blurred out. ''Y/N. Please, trust me.'' trust him, after what he just said. ''I don't have to trust you at all. Theo is by far the best thing that has ever happened to me and why do you all of a sudden care about my well-being.'' my words hurt him, he didn't blame me though, because I didn't remember us.
With hurt filled eyes he left. Waiting for a little longer I searched for Theo, but little did I knew why he wasn't here.  Theo was with the very same men that haunted the town these days.
Not wanting to get late to class, so I left.  On my way I texted him with where he was. For hours, I didn't get a response, it annoyed me but I wasn't worried. At lunch, I did get a text back. ''Sorry, car trouble be there to pick you up though.'' Ending with a kiss emoji.
Without my best friend around the day went by so slowly. After school, I waited in the library for Theo to show up. While I waited I received another text from him that he would be running late. I could have left but I decided to stay and wait, after all I had a lot of homework to do.
School ended at four thirty and Theo texted that he was here at six. I didn't realize it was already so late. Packing my stuff in the deserted library I felt like I was being watched. Trying to keep my calm I finished packing and got out of there.
Making my way towards the exit I heard this mechanical noise. Clicking and clanging of metal gears releasing gas. Walking faster and gripping my backpack I made it to the exit of the library.
Outside there were three people standing, they look like they came from a carnival. I stood still and looked at them not knowing what to do. They didn't spoke a word. Trying to back away from them I waddled aside.
With every step I took backwards they stepped closer. The moment I realized I was cornered, I made a run for it. Trying to reach for the school. Once inside I took out my phone and called Theo. ''Pick up, pick up!'' It looked like for ever for him to pick up. ''I know, I am late and you have all the right to be,'' Finally he had picked up but I didn't let him finish. ''Please hurry, I am scared, there are these three people. I don't know what they want.'' Looking for a hiding spot I tried to keep as quite as I possible could.
He knew immediately who I was talking about. ''Hide, I am five minutes away.'' Fear was present in his voice. I did what he told me and hide.
Out of all the places I could hide I choose the locker rooms. Carefully I placed my bag in one of the lockers and kept only my phone in hand. I could hear them closing in on me, but they were not the only one. I could hear another pair of footsteps.
Shadows were walking by the door. Holding my breath, hoping they would pass. My hands were trembling with fear. I felt my phone buzz in my hands. I looked at it and saw a text from Theo. ''I'm here, at the parking lot.'' I could make it. I bet I knew the school better than them. Typing back to him was difficult, so I spoke one in. ''I am coming to you.'' My voice was shaky and barely a whisper.
Opening the door, so I could peek into the hall. There was no one to be seen, so I made a run for it. As I was running trough the halls I heard a fight further down. The same path I needed to take.
Going against my better judgment, I ran along and saw a girl, my age, fighting one of the men. Once I got a better look at her I realised I knew her, we had some classes together. I believed her name was Kira. She was handling a katana like it was a part of her.
There was no way I could pass them. For a brief second she was distracted by my appearance. ''Get out of here now!'' she yelled at me, but got hit in the process. She flew backwards and her katana fell to the ground.
The masked man kicked the sword away and it glided over the ground. It ended up by the lockers just outside my reach. He grabbed her by the neck and held her up. Before I knew what I was doing I picked up the sword and walked closer to them, ready to fight.
I lashed out to him and hit his arm. He let go of Kira, who fell to the ground with a loud thud. I kicked him so hard he trembled backwards. It left a gap between him and us, so I could stand in front of Kira.
The man was recovered and fought back. Fighting with a sword felt like second nature, I knew how to hold it, how to lash out and how to protect myself from harms way.  ''Remarkable.'' said the man in a static voice.
In the fight I had lost my phone. Theo had called for the hundredth time but without answer. At this very moment he was making his way into the school looking for me. ''Y/N!'' I heard him call. ''Theo!'' I called back as I duck from a counter attack.
Theo came running around the counter and saw me fighting. ''Not her!'' He yelled and lashed out with what looked like claws. His eyes looked like they were glowing a bright yellow.
I hurt Kira standing up. ''Where did you learn to fight like that?'' I gave her back her sword. ''I don't know. But it explains some scars.'' I joked and she let out a painful laugh too.
As Theo was fighting, Kira grabbed my arm en pulled me away. ''We need to go.'' Together we run towards the parking lot. ''What about Theo?'' I asked once we were outside. ''He can take care of himself, trust me.'' I looked at the school, hoping he would walk out any minute now.
Inside Theo was still fighting. ''Like you said, her condition is perfect.'' the masked man said. ''You can take anyone but her.'' his plans had changed, at first he wanted to give me up, but he cares too much now. ''But you said,'' Theo didn't let him finish. ''I know what I said, but you can't have her!'' what he never expected, was falling in love.
Apparently the man had enough of Theo and disappear into thin air. Left alone in the hall Theo took a second to breath and then ran outside.  Kira had led me to a blue pick-up truck that looked like it had his best years. ''We can bring you home.'' Kira said opening the door. ''We?'' I asked. Looking into the car I saw Scott and Stiles. ''Oh hell no.'' I said backing away from the car.
Both Scott and Stiles stepped out of the truck. Kira walked closer to me after signing to the boys to stay put. ''Please, we need to get out of here, those men could come back any minute.'' she tried to persuade me, but without success. ''I am not leaving Theo even tough he scared the living shit out of me back there.'' thinking back to his appearance.
After hearing that Stiles jumped out the car fully. ''What did he do?'' he sounded concerned. ''None of your business.'' I scoffed at him.  ''It is. But you don't,'' I cut him of. ''But I don't what? Remember?!'' I had it with this amnesia. ''Yes.'' He said softly. I shook my head and walked back to the school.
Half-way trough the parking lot I saw Theo exit the school. Once he led eyes on me he started sprinting to me. Hugging me so tight I couldn't breathe. Reality hit me and pulled away from him. ''What was that in there?!'' I half shouted, attracting the others' attention. ''You had claws,'' I held up is hands to see them. ''fangs and glowing eyes.'' I was shaking with adrenaline and fear.
He looked over my shoulder to look at Scott who was shaking his head. ''I don't want to lie or hide anything from you any more.'' Confused was written all over my face. ''Then don't.'' Taking a deep breath he searched for the right words. ''I am a werewolf.''
My mind couldn't process, obvious it was a lie because werewolves didn't excist and yet I wanted to believe him. ''Don't lie to me, tell me the truth Theo.'' I needed him to tell me he wasn't lying. ''I am not lying.'' I was looking for the truth in his eyes and that is what I found.
His eyes glowed the same yellow as it did inside the school. His whole face changed, he grew fangs, claws and more facial hair. ''Please don't be afraid or angry.'' Turning back to normal I still looked at him, not knowing how to feel.
With my hands in my hair I turned around, looked at the others saw a very angry Scott and then back at Theo. ''Theo why did you tell her!'' Scott sounded angry. ''Because I am done lying to her.'' All he wanted to do was protect me from the same men he agreed to lead me to them.
There were so many things I didn't know about and neither did Scott. ''He is the only one honest towards me, you all choose to ignore me or make me feel worse. We are going.'' I took Theo's hand and walked to his car. ''We do need to talk though.'' I said once we were in the car. ''Of course.'' He gave me a warm smile.
We had our issues to talk out. But that didn't make me like him less. The tension between Theo and Scott and his friends was thick. Even they had to put their difference aside to work together and being honest. The only reason why they would do that was because my life depended on it.
One night, a couple of days after the school incident, they came to my house. The masked men took me from my home and brought me to their lair. The moment of the abduction happened so fast.
One moment I was sleeping and the next I was awoken by the same mechanical noise.  Opening my eyes I saw them hovering over my bed, they all placed a hand on me and started to pulse. My body felt weird and a second later I wasn't lying in my bed any more but on an old and dirty operation table.

My name is Y/N Woodlend, at least that's what the nurse told me. She told my whole life story as if she saw me grow up. Apparently, I had been in a coma for three months from a major car accident. The impact was so severe that it caused amnesia. I couldn't remember anything before or during the accident, not even my own name.
For my recovery I needed a lot of rest, the rest that I did not give myself. Too much went through my mind, so many questions and so little answer. "You have to rest." Nurse McCall had said several times. "After you sleep, I try to answer as many questions as possible about you." It was blackmail, but it worked.
With each far-reaching minute I felt my eyelids getting heavier and heavier, always closing my eyes for a second or so until I lost the battle between waking and sleeping. My dreams were empty and black, I felt like I was dreaming, but like the rest of my life, I couldn't remember them.
Woken up in cold sweat, I straightened up, gasping for breath. My heart beating so fast that the alarm bells on my heart monitor rang. Within seconds my room was filled with nurses and doctors. ''Is everything alright? What do you feel?" Asked a doctor, while a nurse started conducting several tests. "It was just a dream." I said absently.
It was Sister McCall who told everyone to leave the room. "Okay, everybody out, she needs to rest." When everyone had left the room, she closed the door and turned back to me. "Do you want to talk about it?" She asked worried. "There is not much to say. I don't remember anything." To calm me down, she gave me a glass of water that I immediately knocked it back. My throat felt dry and hoarse. The cool water relieved the irritation.
It went on for several weeks, empty and meaningless dreams. There were still so many questions I had not answered. Nurse McCall, Melissa, couldn't tell me more than she already had, she didn't have all the answers, either. My recovery was slow, but it was getting better, I was ready to be released from the hospital.
The day had come when I could go back home. "There is a taxi waiting for you outside, they already got the address of your house from me." Melissa said. The clothes I was wearing the day of the accident were bloody, dirty and torn, Melissa brought me a T-shirt, sports pants, socks and a hoodie. "It's a bit on the bigger side, but you should try them on. They’re my son's old clothes." It was the gesture that mattered. "Thank you, I really appreciate this." I took the clothes from her and brought them to the bathroom to change.
The clothes were indeed a bit too big for me. It made no sense to make something of it, the clothes were hanging loose around my figure and so be it. Melissa was still there when I walked back into the room, holding a clipboard with my discharge papers. "If you still want to sign here, then you are free to go." I took over the clipboard from her and read the papers quickly, at the end of the page I signed. My hand guided the pen over the paper without thinking about it, it was automatic.
The ride home went in silence, the streets we drove through, the buildings we were passing by didn't mean anything to me. Lost in thought I looked outside, not realizing that we had come to a standstill. "Ma'am?" Said the driver of the taxi. "Madam?" He said again, but a little louder.
Pulled out of my mind, I murmured a sorry. The man gave me a friendly smile. "No problem." It had probably happened before that a co-driver had dozed off. "We have arrived at your destination." Looking out the window, I noticed an apartment complex that looked deserted. "You're sure this is the right address?" I asked just to be sure. The man looked at his navigation. "Yes, this is the address I got from the hospital." With a sigh I nodded and got out. "Thank you for the ride." I said before slamming the door.
Melissa had also given me a plastic bag with my personal items, including keys. There was also a wallet with my passport and some small money in it. I opened the doors of the building and walked in, it looked as deserted inside as it was outside.
From a distance I heard footsteps darting, all the muscles in my body tensed and a frightening feeling fell over me. "Hello?" I tried to be as confident as possible. A figure formed in my field of vision and made me step back. "Calm down, I'm not here to hurt you." Said a voice, the man held up his hands and stepped into the light.
His green eyes glow with the sun shining in, a smile played on his bright white teeth. He still spoke with his hands still up. "I'm Derek. Your neighbour remember." I shook my head not. "I don't know anything anymore." My words sounded empty.
Derek took a  step forward. "I heard about the accident, but I didn't expect it to be so bad." His words were soft and compassionate. "It's ... It's just that I don't remember who I am." I looked at him with broken words and tears in my eyes. He took a few more steps forward so that he was standing in front of me. "All in good time." He put a hand on my shoulder and squeezed it a little. In an attempt to get myself together, I nodded at him and smiled small.
We said goodbye and before I was out of sight he said. "By the way, I put your mail on the table, your mailbox started to bulge a bit." I saw the humour in his sense, but it made me uneasy to know he could get into my apartment. "Don't worry, I'm also your landlord." He winked at me. My response was an "Oh" face and then continued on my way to my apartment.
One of the keys on my key ring fell perfectly into the lock of the door. It took me a few tries. I opened the door and walked in, looking for the light switch. Once the room was lit I looked around. The room was filled with things that could be mine, but it didn't feel like it, it didn't feel like my house.
On the dining table was a stack of mail and on top of it was an envelope with the text "READ ME", I left all other letters and took the envelope. I landed on the couch with a thud and opened the envelope.
Before I read the letter I skimmed it quickly, the sender of the letter appealed to me the most, it was my own father. Questions filled my head, why wasn't he here, why did he let me go through this alone. Tears filled my eyes with the thought that I might not be good enough for him to be here.
Hoping that the letter would answer my many questions, I gathered my courage and started reading.
"Dear Y / N,
You will have many questions and I hope to answer as many as possible with this letter. To begin with why I am not here with you;
I heard about your accident and I'm sorry I can't leave because of work, I promise to make it right as soon as I get back, I am currently in Tokyo, for a very special buyer of antique objects.
You are a junior student at Beacon hill high school, I told the school about your condition and they will also explain things to you as soon as you start school again.
Don't try to remember everything at once.
To shire.
Dad.''
With the letter in my hand, I looked ahead, nothing seemed as it should be. It felt like this was not my life. Pondering the issue didn't help me much, it was exhausting and it wasted time. It had been a long day and I was exhausted.
I placed the letter on the table and found my way to my room. It looked like a room for a teenager my age, that's all I could say. The bathroom was opposite to my room, I longed for a shower. I turned the knobs of the water and let it preheat before stepping under it. I prepared a towel and when the water had warmed up I took off the clothes Melissa gave me and dropped them on the floor, without looking back, I stepped into the shower cabin.
For the first time after my visit to the hospital, I saw my scars in a better light. They covered my arms, torso, back and even my legs. Shocked at the amount, I traced one of the scars, hoping to remember something, the story behind my injuries.
Some scars were old and healed, others were new and red. The difference in size was evident, one lying superficially when the other was carved deep into my skin. There was one what looked like a shot wound between all the thin and thick lines. Panic filled my body and breathing became difficult.
The wound was old, completely healed. Certainly about three years old, what could I have done when I was fifteen that would leave me being shot at. I got the impression that I lived a completely different life than people let me know. Maybe this was for the best that I don't remember who I was, maybe I can start over and live a better life.
The warm water did my body good, my stiff muscles relaxed a bit. I let everything rinse off and enjoyed the warmth the water gave and the sound of hundreds of drops falling on the ground to the stone floor.
A much needed night's sleep followed soon after I finished showering and found my pyjamas. Covered under the sheets of my bed, I immediately fell asleep when my head hit the pillow.
My dream was empty and meaningless, even though, I felt rested. An outfit was created by putting some pieces of clothing together and was nothing special, a pair of jeans and a graphic T-shirt with a flannel blouse on top.
After a quick breakfast, I picked up a backpack that was neglected in a corner and put it in a few pens and a note book. Mentally I prepared for my day, a school bus stopped near my apartment. There were a few others who had to use the same bus as well. I kept my head down and watched for none other than myself.
Everyone who was already on the bus looked up from their phones and looked at me intently, I paid no attention to them and quickly looked for an empty place to sit. There was still a spot available in the back of the bus. As soon as I sat down, my attention drifted to the window, where I stared aimlessly outside.
The twenty-minute ride passed by faster than it seemed. In the parking lot, the bus and many others were empty. I was the last person to leave the bus, greeting the driver.
The school doors loomed the closer I got. Inside I wandered through the endless halls looking for the administration, which I had clearly passed by the crowd three times.
Behind the desk was a woman in her fifties, beginning grey hair with small glasses resting on her nose. "Good morning, I, um, I'm back from the hospital and ready to finish my education." I didn't know how to put it better. "What's your name sweetheart." She asked, looking up from her work. "Y/N Woodlend." She immediately typed it into her computer. "Oh yeah, I have your file here, I am really sorry about what happened." I nodded without going into it. "I'll print your class schedule for you and write your safe number on a piece of paper." I thanked her and waited for her to finish.
After she handed over my papers and explained some more things I was on my way to my locker. For the first and second period I had mathematics and chemistry. My locker looked messy, filled with books and notebooks, this was the first time I felt like it was supposed to.
I struggled to find the right classroom, but eventually I found the right one. Most of the students had already taken a seat, all the seats in the back rows were already occupied. The only free spots were in the front. Two boys who were talking to each other at first looked at me abruptly as soon as I walked into the room. I felt uncomfortable, the fact that they suddenly stopped talking the moment I walked in. I shook it off and sat in the front row, at the second table from the left.
Just before the bell rang, another student walked in, the last empty spot was to my left. The boy put his bag down next to the table and sat down. He gave me a little smile when we made eye contact. His blue eyes had something of a sparkle in them, his picture perfect smile filled the room. I quickly turned to the whiteboard to avoid it becoming uncomfortable.
The teacher stepped in and started the presence of the class. "Theo Reaken," She looked around the classroom and this time the boy to my left spoke. "Here." With a slight wave of his hand, he gestured where he was. "Stiles Stelinski," she again looked up from her paper and one of the boys who looked at me said. "Here." And raised his hand to mark his place. "And Y/N Woodlend." She spoke in a whisper and looked at my face. Her eyes looked for mine. "Y/N Woodlend." She said more clearly. "Here." I held up my hand to clarify my soft answer.
The class buzzed after my name was dropped. Looking over my shoulder, I noticed that the whole class was looking at me. The teacher was already interfering. "That's enough, staring is rude." Everyone turned back to their own tabletop and the lesson started. The beginning was rough, it was as if it were a different language, but after a good reading and help from my classmate, Theo, the lesson went smoothly. "Hey, are you OK?" Theo asked, seeing that I was having trouble with the material. "It's like it's from another planet." I joked, even though it was a bad one he laughed.
I cut out the buzz of the class and kept busy with my work. I felt the eyes of someone behind me burning on my neck. The help Theo gave me helped set a standard. By the end of the lesson I was up to date with the material and I had already finished the homework myself. "What lesson do you have next?" He asked out of interest. "Chemistry." I replied quickly. "Me too." We walked silently to the next class.
Here too we sat next to each other, but unfortunately for a short amount of time, as soon as the class started we were divided into pairs. My heart was pounding when I heard who my partner was for this class. Stiles. He immediately objected. "Can't I go with someone else?" He asked without hesitation. "No, she's your partner for this lesson." Making myself small, I hid my face in my arms. Cheeks fiery red with shame. ''Please. I can't work with her." Tears filled my eyes an my heart was pounding in my chest.
Stiles' behaviour started to get on the nerves of the teacher. "Stiles, that's enough, she's your partner and I see you in detention this afternoon." Angrily, he looked at me and shook his head. "Fine, but I'm still not working with her." His voice hinted with disgust. I don't know what I ever did to him to be treated like this.
The classroom filled with whisper. My name fell in every corner of the room. Panic filled every inch of my body and before I realized it I got up, with as result that my crutch fell backwards. As soon as I could I gathered my things and stormed out of the room. "Stiles, to the director's office, now." Was the last thing I heard. All the while, Theo watched speechless, stunned at what had just happened.
Theo also got up and threatening walk to Stiles. He stopped in front of him so close that their chests almost touched each other. "I don't know what she ever did to you before she lost her memories, but I do know she didn't deserve this." By deliberately crashing his shoulder into Stiles', he followed me. "Hey wait." He called after me. Halfway down the hall I stopped and turned to watch Theo sprint to get to me.
I looked at him silently with red and tearful eyes. Without speaking he pulled me into a hug and held me tight to him. Loud sobs left my throat. "It's all right." He said calmingly.
When I ran out of tears to cry, I pushed away from him. "Since I came back to school, I feel like people look at me like I'm a monster, talk about me behind my back, I think I was a bad person before my accident." I looked at him frightening. "I wasn't there before your accident. So I don't know you as the person everyone else knew." He looked at his hands and then back at me. "But I do know that I would like to get to know the person you are now." A smile cleared the corners of my mouth.
From that moment I no longer cared, I was no longer obsessed with my past, but with my present. I wanted to live in the now and not in the past. The accident was a new beginning for me to live a better life than I did, I had the choice to change or fall back into old habits.
Although I didn't know what those old habits were, I chose to start over, I wanted to change for the best. Whatever the reason for my scars, that life was behind me. I found a friend when all my hopes were lost, a friend who chose me for who I am and not who I was.
My bond with Theo grew closer every day, so close that I started to feel more for him than just friends. Now when we were together I got nervous, tripped over my words, or turned red in the face with every compliment he gave me.
