quinni already feels like such authentic autistic representation that i can't say i've ever really seen before.
i mean, the fake eyelash scene... yes, that's literally how they feel. like an irritant and it's so stressful and horrible and exacerbates your sensory overload issues and then disassociating in public and panicking because of all the lights and noises which further exacerbated your sensory overload issues.
and the masking reference. non-autistic people really don't get or realise just how often we mask to the point where it becomes almost second nature because you're essentially pretending and acting out one specific part of your life to the point where no one realises or even considers it's not the truth.
ep2 did a great job at demonstrating how quinni is with darren compared to how she is with everyone else. having someone in your life who you feel comfortable and safe enough with to be yourself and not mask is wonderful. along with someone who understands exactly what you need when you are having a meltdown and what you don't need (when darren stopped amerie from touching quinni). i love their friendship so much.

actually i love growing older and learning how i work as a person like realizing what kinds of fabrics feel best on my skin or what brand of yogurt i like best or how I want to be touched. watching myself change, enjoying brussel sprouts when I used to hate them as a child, understanding why I got angry in that one conversation 10 years ago… there are so many mysteries inside me that i have yet to unravel and there will always be more and sometimes i think maybe its all worth it

“some people don’t deserve redemption” redemption isn’t something that’s deserved, it’s something someone does. it’s making the choice to change the way you live your life, to be better, to do good things instead of bad things and try to make up for the bad things. and everyone can and should do that, at any time, no matter what they’ve done. we can’t change the past, but we can choose what kind of person to be now and in the future. we have the responsibility to do so. it is so completely not about “deserving.”

one thing that drives me absolutely nuts is when ppl characterize princess bubblegum as like, a bubbly disney princess type of character. i know thats her name and shes pink but like yuo would only think this if you didnt watch a single minute of the show because literally the opening shot of season 1 episode 1 is pb doing science experiments on corpses

I find it fascinating that people who choose not to have children are generally assumed to feel really strongly about not having children (or even to feel really strongly against children, anyone’s children, in general). I am probably not going to have children, not because I REALLY REALLY HATE the idea of having children, but because I don’t really really love it. Out of all the major decisions I will make in my life, this one is the only irreversible one. I can sell a house, quit a job, divorce a spouse, whatever. I cannot unhave a child. I cannot opt out of being a parent once I become a parent. I can’t even take a step back for the sake of self-care or whatever, or else my child will suffer.
So for me, having children is fuck yes or not at all. The default will be to remain childfree. Having children should be an opt-in decision, not an opt-out one. Until/unless I develop really strong feelings about wanting to have children, I won’t have them, even if that means I never end up having them at all.

[EDIT: ID by @suzalulus altered slightly by me
Two tweets & drawings by Kamome Shirahama translated from Japanese to English. First tweet: "This is what a pointed hat looks like when I'm busy." There is a doodle of several vaguely triangular figures with no face, stick legs, and brimless witch hats. Some of them have scribbled hair poking out from under their hats. They bear a vague but recognizable resemblance to Witch Hat Atelier characters. Second tweet: "Yay yay". A doodle of Coco, Agott, Richeh, and Tetia in the same simple style wiggling & dancing around. There are music notes and the words "Yay yay" in the air around them. /End ID]

to be honest i feel like comparing witch hat atelier directly to anything is kind of a disservice because it's so unique. personally i tend to point out certain aspects of it, like:
if you like stories about weird little girls, you'll like witch hat atelier. if you like in depth world building, you'll like witch hat atelier. if you want to see disability addressed in fantasy settings, you'll like witch hat atelier. if you like magical systems, you'll like witch hat atelier. etc etc. witch hat atelier IS about a magic school, but it's SO much more than that. it's about allowing children to walk their own path without letting go of their hand. it's about accessibility. it's about the responsibility we take on when we create. it's about, and I cannot stress this enough, the phantom flame ball
